"Southern California’s dominant breakfast-burrito maker will start serving lunch sandwiches and chips at its Pasadena outpost on Friday, March 7; the sandwich menu is being teased on Instagram and will use organic ingredients. Example items include a braised, grass-fed short rib sandwich served with giardiniera, au jus, and house mayonnaise on a mini baguette, and everything is made fresh daily." - Mona Holmes
"Run by Ben Richter and Alex Claster, Wake & Late is described as a popular breakfast-burrito chain whose operational playbook Richter is bringing to Burgerlords in order to create a fast, high-end smash-burger experience; the two founders say the Burgerlords venture will be kept totally separate from Wake & Late under a newly formed company." - Cathy Chaplin
"I prefer the vegetarian burrito at Wake & Late: smaller than average and built with pasture-raised eggs, avocado, cheddar, and pickled jalapeños inside a flour tortilla, it’s elevated by tater tots that add crunchy contrast to the softer ingredients; douse with the chipotle aioli and enjoy it from 7 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Pasadena or Downtown locations." - Eater Staff
"Wake & Late is a daytime walk-up window in DTLA specializing in breakfast burritos, serving five different kinds of burritos and some —and nothing else. The steak burrito is our move here: it involves medium-rare sirloin (less salty than their pastrami burrito), plus avocado, grilled onions, pepper jack, fluffy scrambled eggs, and as many tater tots as a middle school lunch plate. Their tangy house hot sauce on the side is excellent, and the vegetarian version is also a winner. Our only complaint is that despite the quality, it's not a large burrito for the price. So if you're just looking for some protein and potatoes to fill you up, this might not be your place. They also have a second location in Pasadena that's equally casual." - Garrett Snyder
"Expanding to Pasadena, Downtown LA breakfast burrito spot Wake and Late will have a soft launch on Monday, July 24 from 8 a.m. to noon at 525 E Colorado Boulevard, Pasadena, where folks can get one free breakfast burrito and beverage; the spot officially opens Thursday, July 27 with hours from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday through Monday, with plans to extend days of service down the line." - Virali Dave
