Yelp
It was my first and most likely last time dining at Wet. I came here in part of a group of 10 celebrating my good friend's birthday. While I was blown away with the decor and architecture of the establishment, I was let down in many other aspects of the dining experience. We were sat in the middle of the restaurant so we were all able to have a good view of the surrounding tables and atmosphere.
Some of us tried the cocktails & Miami Spice menus which all started with the Hamachi Neptune shot. That shot was undeniably yummy, but unfortunately I think that is where the positives end for this review. The appetizers came out before the drinks, which was surprising, considering there were only two tables in the restaurant at the time including us. Speaking of the drinks, I learned that this restaurant specializes in filtered water yet there was not an option for standard tap water. Essentially it felt like a money grab considering the already, over-inflated priced menu items.
While we sat at a beautifully designed table, there were at least three different occasions where the waiters attempted to fix some of the lights under the table, which were either short-circuiting or burning out. While my friends and I normally would appreciate making our dining experience more of an experience, we really did not appreciate the attitude nor way we were spoken to move in order to do so.
At this point, half of the table receives their entrées. The waiters auctioned off the food, not aware of who ordered what item, which led to confusion, considering we had already waited about 40 minutes and were unsure of what we had even ordered. As a former restaurant opener myself, I always taught my employees to know if their seat numbers and the correct way to place the food. This establishment clearly does not teach that. We encouraged our friends to start eating as more time has passed, probably about another 10 to 15 minutes before more entrées begin coming out. The entire table still was not complete in terms of the food ordered and when we tried to flag down what appeared to be the manager (more on him later) it appeared. He saw us signaling for him, yet walked in the other direction. We tried to make the best of the experience as this was a celebration and continue on with our meal. The last two entrées arrived, and it appeared. Everyone was content with their food flavor. By this time the restaurant was a little more filled up, which was surprising to me, and we did not see our waiter for another 15 or 20 minutes. Luckily, the desserts came out from Miami spice menu And we were able to savor on those. We then wanted to check, but because of how busy the server was, we did not receive it for another 15 or 20 minutes after we had finished dessert. When I flagged the waiter down and asked for the check, there apparently is a no splitting policy, and he just dropped it and kind of ran off to his other tables. Regardless, we expected the ridiculous 20% automatic gratuity in this case due to the extremely poor service, and just wanted to leave at that point, so we put our card down, paid and then walked near the front of the bar to take a group photo. We then nearly laughed at the sight of people walking in with short sleeves and shorts, as we had been told that the dress code was that of fine dining.
Now we come to the cherry on top of this review; the "manager". While we went to the throne area where a lot of the signature pictures are taken, he was engaging in a conversation, which appeared to be regulars as this was the only time I saw him smiling throughout the three hour dinner. One of our friends asked him to move to the side as he was part of the picture and where he then rudely turned his head back to the regulars and continued chatting. It wasn't until one of our girlfriends had to tap him on the shoulder and ask him to move once more. I was borderline, furious at this point, but I realized that if I had asked to speak to a superior, it would've been him. While on the subject, throughout the dinner, my friends and I could hear him yelling at the waiters on multiple occasions. On another occasion, I was walking to the restroom, and instead of giving the guest the right of way, he nearly bumped into me while trying to rush around the corner. From Instagram, it appears his name is Rahmi.
Now I am not sure if there is a lack of managers submitting applications here but I guarantee I could do a job 10 times better than this guy. He appears to walk around the restaurant like he is the most important person in the world and it's a real shame for those of us that came here for a mind-blowing birthday celebration yet received the complete opposite, in part due to this clown.
Jennifer, I truly wish you would have been on the floor to not only handle the flow of the restaurant, but the atmosphere and experience that I'm sure you would've wanted to give to us and all your guests. Best of luck with your company.
