The 19 Best Bagels In NYC

"Wheated has convinced us: if you make sourdough pizza, you should probably make sourdough bagels, too. The Ditmas Park pizza spot turns into a bagel shop on weekend mornings, and it feels like you’ve stumbled into a tavern that just so happens to be making the chewiest bagels you’ve had in a while today. Get a dozen, and both the pickled jalapeno and burnt scallion cream cheese. They also bake fresh biscuits smothered in sausage gravy, if you’d like to spend a lazy Sunday morning eating multiple forms of carbohydrates at one of the tables—if not, just get a $3 cup of sausage gravy to go when picking up your bagels." - willa moore, neha talreja, hannah albertine, will hartman

What To Eat And Drink In NYC Before Summer Ends

"Before the pandemic, Wheated was a neighborhood gem serving excellent Neapolitan pies, fresh meatball calzones, and whiskey cocktails in Kensington. Now, they’ve pivoted to a takeout-only model. Wheated still serves the same great pies named after Brooklyn neighborhoods like Ditmas Park and Vinegar Hill, plus fresh sourdough baguettes, cookies, and premade whiskey cocktails. Stop by their takeout window before your next picnic in Prospect Park." - nikko duren

Wheated - Review - Kensington - New York - The Infatuation

"Wheated is a neighborhood gem serving excellent Neapolitan pies with sourdough crust, fresh meatballs, and affordable cocktails in Kensington. The pies are named after Brooklyn neighborhoods like Ditmas Park and Vinegar Hill, and our favorite is the “Brighton Beach,” which comes topped with several slabs of crispy bacon, garlic, and black pepper: it’s like carbonara pasta on thin and crunchy crust. This pizza place with a few tables and a bar up front also sells great bagels on the weekend, as well as biscuits and sausage gravy. Food Rundown photo credit: Wheated Brighton Beach Bacon on pizza would be a good band name. But at Wheated, it’s a short phrase we use to describe why we love this white pie. The thin and crispy strips taste just a little smoky, and pair nicely with the black pepper, garlic, and fresh mozzarella. photo credit: Wheated Bay Ridge This vodka pie is a creamy, slippery mess and we love everything about it. After you’ve had it, you’ll probably start to crave it at random or whenever you see a leaf that slightly resembles basil. photo credit: Wheated Supreme If you like your pizzas with all kinds of toppings, this is the way to go. Here, you’ll get what’s essentially an everything under the kitchen sink pizza, with fennel sausage, mushrooms, onions, olives, pepperoni, and mozzerella cheese." - Nikko Duren
