"Everything at Wheat’s End Cafe is gluten free, and the Lincoln Park bakery also offers plenty of vegan options. Start the day off right with pancakes, spicy chicken and waffles, smashed avocado toast, and more. And don’t forget to get a sweet treat, such as a doughnut or cinnamon roll, for dessert. There’s no seating, but you can order pickup or delivery here." - Sam Nelson

Google
I was tempted to give it 4 stars just because it’s takeout-only but I won’t, because everything else was so great! I ended up ordering through Grubhub since there’s no dine-in option, and it would’ve been a waste to bring it back to my hotel. That said, as someone with celiac, it’s incredible to be able to order anything off the menu without worry. The variety is amazing so many tempting options, it was hard to pick just one meal, drink, and treat. I went with the gyro lunch, the signature popover (I’ve been craving a croissant and have been on a state-to-state hunt!), and the ginger juice, which was pure ginger with no added sweetness. Everything was excellent

Google
Shrimp po'boy and chocolate chip pancakes are delicious! Generous portions. I am not gluten-free and just decided to try this place out. Very happy I did! Some of the best pancakes I've ever had. The pancakes are probably a better deal than the shrimp sandwich but both were good amounts of food 😋😋😋😋😋😋😋 excited to come back and try more items on the menu.

Google
We ordered 3 things and they were all incredible. We had the Lemon Poppyseed Pancakes, Blueberry Belgian Waffle, and the Cheddar Biscuit and Gravy. My boyfriend's favorite was the Biscuit and Gravy. Mine was the Lemon Poppyseed Pancakes. We would definitely eat here again to try even more of the goodies.

Google
The spicy chicken and waffles were outstanding! I would come back again to buy these and/or try more menu items. The worker was helpful in choosing what to order, and while the prices are a little higher than an average lunch, I was able to get two meals out of it.

Google
Such a special place, absolutely delicious baked goods, food, and great coffee! And I’m hard to please. So incredible to have something completely gluten free so it’s celiac approved. These are the places to support. Thanks guys!

Google
We stop here everytime we come to visit! Surprisingly there are not a lot of options in Chicago for a 100% GF restaurant….they have savory and sweet! Great staff…worth rerouting the trip! Although you can’t eat inside…we don’t mind sitting in our car to eat our breakfast and bringing our bag of goodies home for later!

Google
This is a great dedicated gluten-free establishment. Very unassuming from the outside, but as soon as you enter your senses are enticed by the scents of delicious baking and a variety of spices. It's a bit on the pricy side (sadly necessary for safe gluten free eating) but the food is almost all amazing (the only thing even mildly disappointing were the donuts). The chicken and waffles was some of the best I've ever eaten anywhere, and the pancakes were light, fluffy, and delicious -- not always a combination you expect from a GF establishment. The only real downside for this location is that they are 100% take-out only. There are some chairs for waiting after ordering, but that's it. However, if you can eat in your car (as we did) or take home or to a park if the weather permits, then this is a must-try while you're in the area.

Google
I JUST now understood why the restaurant is named what it is name and why the food was how it was. I am not gluten free so I was all the way turned off from the cinnamon roll u ordered... just dry as hell. Could've used rice or oat flour or something to soften that up. The vegetable and egg skillet I ordered though was really good. Great portion and flavor. No seating/ dining in.

Yelp
After walking by about 500 times I finally came here for lunch on a Sunday with some of my gluten free friends, and although I am not GF, I was extremely impressed and wish I had visited sooner! First of all, the menu has so many options. Brunch and lunch and a variety of types of food. Not to mention delicious looking baked goods! They also have some special take home things like pancake mix (GF and vegan) and a little freezer with biscuits, etc. I got the turkey cranberry panini which came with delicious sweet potato fries and a yummy fry sauce. Reminded me of Thanksgiving in the best way! Super unique from other sandwiches in the area. I would totally order this again, I loved it! Highly recommend if you are gluten free or even if you are not. They don't have indoor seating and the space is pretty small - it's all takeout, but the staff were super nice and the food was prepared quickly.

Yelp
Stopped in at Wheat's End Cafe & Bakery and treated myself to an oat milk latte and their gluten-free, vegan pumpkin donut--dropped about $10 for the duo. The latte was smooth and creamy, perfect midday pick-me-up, with no weird aftertaste. The pumpkin donut? Legit one of the best I've had--light, fluffy, and that warm cinnamon‑pumpkin flavor really hits right. The staff were super friendly--gave me the low-down on everything vegan and GF, made me feel like a regular, even though it was my first visit. Only reason I'm holding at four stars is seating's grab‑and‑go--no place to hang if you wanna chill. Still, glad to have a spot nearby with solid vegan GF baked goods and a top-tier latte.

Yelp
I'm sick right now and desperately needed some soup, so when I saw that pumpkin soup on their menu I knew I had to have it. I decided to try to spicy chicken sandwich too since I haven't had one since getting diagnosed with celiac and oh my god. I am not even done with the meal but almost in tears because of how great it is that there are places like this serving delicious gluten free food! I ordered via GrubHub and it came very quickly and piping hot. The pumpkin soup was perfectly comforting and the sandwich had such a great spice, that chipotle mayo is no joke. Thank you for existing Wheats End! I've gotten bagels from here and even with the hefty price tag, they're also delicious. A celiac's dream!

Alissa N.

Yelp
This place is amazing. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. The real star is the food. I ordered a ton of food and nothing disappointed. Flavors are delicious and portions are generous. The coffee is great too. I also bought some frozen goodies to keep in the freezer for a later use. The only negative is that they don't have dine in. Definitely worth the trip and price.

Yelp
Stopped in again and tried their S'mores Latte. It was on the sweeter side but was good. I was also able to order a Flannel Latte even though it wasn't on a menu, so that was a plus! I will be coming back next time in the neighborhood for sure.

Yelp
Wheat's End is completely gluten-free and they do it well. They have plenty of delicious options whether you want a pastry or a sandwich or maybe just some bagels or biscuits to take home and chef up later. There's not any seating inside to dine in, but they're close enough to the lake that on a nice day you can grab a gyro and soak up some sun.

Yelp
This takeout only spot is a godsend to a family who is looking for gluten free options for a family member with an allergy. You can get items like biscuits and waffles and they are very close to the real deal (but ever-so-slightly off, as is the case with most gluten free items).

Yelp
Stopped in for a latte & vegan coconut donut. The donut was amazing one of the best I've ever had. The location is cute, the service was great.

Yelp
Got carry out from this place for Father's Day, since my son in law has Celiac disease. It was overall very good- and my husband and I are not gluten free. We got the spicy chicken and waffles and it was very tasty- would not have know it was gluten free had we not been told. Waffles were maybe a little denser than expected but very tarty and crispy, and chicken was delicious and just spicy enough. Tasted what my daughter and son in law ordered as well- choc chip pancakes were delicious and light, biscuit and sausage gravy was good, popover was good as well, and avocado toast was fine- toast was a bit hard but avocado was nice. Food was ready when promised and packed well. Sorry, forgot to take photos. Would recommend to anyone with gluten intolerance/celiac disease.

Yelp
I've been gluten free (Celiac) for years so want to start off saying I've tried many brands of bread/baked goods etc and am very tolerant and aware of what gluten free food is like. I appreciate the sentiment of having a fully gluten free, safe restaurant to dine with with any option you desire! Maybe their restaurant food is better than the baked goods I ordered but I'm beyond baffled by the good reviews of their bread here. It tastes nothing like normal bread. I'm not sure if I got a bad batch. I usually order bagels online to be shipped, on occasion, as a treat. This weekend I didn't want to wait and decided to try Wheat's End as it's local. I ordered bread, bagels, a cookie and a brownie for my freezer. The brownie and cookie were tiny for the price and not good at all! The brownie was dense, gummy and tasted like some sort of packaged "diet" treat. The cookie also had a weird texture and despite being chocolate chip tasted like cinnamon. With bakeries like defloured around and literally ANYTHING else at the grocery store I honestly do not know how they stay afloat. The bread was equally terrible, with a super strange, bad after taste. I do not know how I'm going to finish it. I haven't tried the bagels yet. I hate to write a bad review but this is the biggest waste of money I've ever spent on gluten free goods and people should be aware when ordering. Absolutely terrible! buyers remorse 100%!

Yelp
Love feeling completely safe eating at a dedicated gluten free kitchen!! I had very friendly and quick service. Just to note that there is NO dine-in service although I wish there was. We grabbed breakfast at a different spot but stopped here for some baked goods after. I had the popover with honey butter and it is SO good. Super soft and airy. I am looking forward to coming back and trying everything else!

Emma A.

Yelp
First things first I am not gluten free, just wanted to check out a local spot. We got a popover and breakfast tacos, as well as a latte. It seemed like we must've hit the mobile order rush because it took about 25 minutes to get our food on a Sunday at 9am. They also don't have seating, everything is carry out. The tacos were very good, and came with a generous side salad. The popover was great too, and you couldn't even really tell that it was gluten free (as someone who eats gluten daily) Overall, I would return but would be sure to order ahead for pickup and have an understanding that the food will take some time.

Yelp
CARRY OUT/DELIVERY ONLY I'm really torn about this review. First, the food. The pancakes are exceptionally good - really thick and filling. I believe they even put cinnamon in it. The bacon was good and my son inhaled the popover. I had the chorizo omelet which was average. The potatoes that come with it had some good spice. I wasn't inspired by the meal but please to be able to go somewhere safe to eat. As a family that has celiac, we really want to support those restaurants that are dedicated gluten free. It is extremely tough to eat out at all. So when we find a dedicated place, we feel safe to be able to eat there. We happen to be downtown and had a chance to go out for lunch. I saw that this was a dedicated gluten free place and decided to try it - even driving out of our way to go there. At the time I did not realize that it was carry out/delivery only. The person working behind the counter - who seemed to be in charge and I presumed the owner - could have politely let us know it was carry out only. Instead he tried to make me feel stupid with some snarky comments, while claiming they had been carry out for 2.5 years (although the pandemic just reached its 2 year mark). Is it common for this establishment to belittle its customers? So again, I'm torn. Gf dedicated places are hard to find. And yet, I don't see myself returning here. I'd rather just eat a protein bar and an apple.

Patricia M.

Yelp
The biscuits, scones and English muffins are all shaped like hockey pucks in varying sizes. I was expecting them to be more substantial, but they feel kind of airy and crumbly. Not much to them. Disappointed.

Yelp
Gluten Free & Vegan options So thankful we found this spot on our 2 hour drive back home from the airport!!! The food presentation was nice! And the one who took our order was very kind, knowledgeable and helpful. We needed dairy and wheat free meals and they had so many options to choose from! The BBQ beyond burger was delicious and don't get me started on the buffalo cauliflower So GOOOOD!! Worth the stop if you need an allergy friendly restaurant.

Veronica R.

Yelp
This cute place blew me away! It has been so hard to find places that avcomate both of my allergies (dairy & gluten) I loved the food, I ordered the chocolate chip (non dairy) pancakes that are also gluten free (the whole menu is gluten free!!!) and they were delicious and plentiful! My caramel iced latte was super yummy, made by Riley who was the sweetest and so welcoming! 10/10 recommend and will be back!!

Cheryl M.

Yelp
I had the Reuben and it was excellent! So good to have a Reuben on GF pumpernickel bread. I also got the raisin challah. It was good but missing raisins (thus the 4 rather than 5 stars). I could probably count the number of raisins in the whole loaf on one hand. If it had more raisins this loaf would be a regular purchase for me.

Yelp
Wheat's End is such a special spot! If you, a family member, or your best brunch pal (my case) are looking for a gluten free spot you can all enjoy, look no further! One of my greatest friends has celiac, and I always felt a little guilty when we'd go to brunch and I would be shoving my face with a breakfast bagel. Well, we can finally both shove our faces! Wheat's End has a phenomenal 100% gluten free brunch & lunch menu. All in-person dining is currently closed (both indoor and outdoor) so we placed an order for pickup and walked the few blocks over to the lake for a little picnic. We both went with the open-faced egg sandwich, but I got mine on an english muffin and she went with the bagel. Everything was so tasty and would make any gluten lover question if it was actually GF. I also got the chocolate chip pancakes and they were fluffy, delicious and had a touch of cinnamon which I liked. I will definitely be back to Wheat's End, with or without my gluten free friends! The menu is full of healthier breakfast and lunch options I'm dying to try. They also have frozen GF items available to take home like bagels, sourdough bread, and pizza crust. It makes me happy to know this is available for so many GF folks who love to enjoy quality treats.

Yelp
Such a good hidden gem! I loved the quick and easy in and out! employees were so nice and the food tasted very good!

Yelp
Amazing tastes like real bread!!! Such a cute place too very clean & pretty inside. friendly caring people.

Alice K.

Yelp
They do NOT have dine in as of 11/16/23. Please consider this if you've never been there before and make a long drive for the AMAZING GF menu! Call before to confirm if it has changed. There is outdoor seating outside, ask permission to sit there from other restaurant. My friend and I walked down the street and found a table at Starbucks and ate there. Otherwise Mariano's is close by. I was so happy to an ALL gluten free menu- includes vegan/vegetarian options. I ordered several things off the menu and was not disappointed with anything! I even took home frozen goodies. All bakery items are hand made there and everything they make. Very friendly environment and friendly people! It was worth the hour+ drive! Soooo many options for food!

J B.

Yelp
I was so sad to see that Wheat's End has really changed. I used to go often at the old location, but this was my first time in the new spot. No dine-in, prices have skyrocketed, and the quality has diminished significantly. The beet-cured lox, a regular favorite of mine, wasn't nearly as good as it used to be. The lox tasted frozen, the bagel over toasted, and it no longer comes with salad. We also got a pumpkin cinnamon roll and chocolate chip cookie, both of which were not good at all. The cookie was dry as a bone and the cinnamon roll was similar and overly spiced. Really disappointing :(
google avatar

Chicago G.

Yelp
The overall value prop sadly makes this a place we will limit coming back to. I am willing to fork over $18 for a falafel sandwich and $19 spicy chicken and waffles for lunch if I am sitting in a nice restaurant and someone is serving me. Falafel was smothered in lots more of tahini, cucumber, tomato salad; spicy chicken is delish but waffles are a hard pass. No flavor and terrible texture, really only suitable as a syrup delivery device. Since moving locations, they jacked up the prices and are only carry out. While I just love that the entire menu is gluten free, I can get similar options at other restaurants that cost less and don't require me to find a park bench to eat at when it's 84 outside.
google avatar

Reilly D.

Yelp
I haven't been able to have good fried chicken since being diagnosed celiac 10 years ago, let alone Focaccia! Wheat's End Spicy Chicken Sandwich was so delicious and prepared on their own bread made in house! You don't see that anywhere else! So glad to have such an allergy friendly place with knowledgeable staff here in Chicago
google avatar

Priscilla T.

Yelp
I could cry. My first fried chicken sandwich in years and it was the meal of my dreams. After reading all the comments about there being no indoor seating I truly contemplated if the trip would be worth it but I'm happy to report that the chicken sandwich was 100% worth any drive just to try it. The flavor was packed and seasoned and the textures were so balanced. Granted I had to walk a mile to find a table to eat at after I got my food so even though the sandwich wasnt perfectly warm when I opened it up, the first bite melted all my negative thoughts away. I found deep joy in my soul again. The spicy mayo, the red onions, the deeply seasoned batter and the beautifully complementing focaccia bun was everything I could've asked for. I used to be a chikfila lover, a hot fried chicken sandwich eater, raising canes, Popeyes sandwiches, church's chicken regular, and howlin rays hot chicken in Los Angeles admirer. I miss these so much but my body can't take the gluten anymore and it makes me so sad. But this fried chicken sandwich was the first sign of hope in this world. That someone could finally get it right. I must say, the price is so steep at over $20 bucks just for this sandwich and some average fries and no drink, but my belly was so happy to taste a fried chicken sandwich again so maybe this is a good meal for a celebration. Separately, I'm always looking for a GF Cinnabon replacement and not a vegan version so the vegan cinnamon roll was Just ok to me, very sweet, but not for me who would prefer a more rich dairy based frosting. I plan to come back in the future to try their other items in hopes for more surprising delight.
google avatar

Danielle H.

Yelp
We had high hopes but food wasn't that great. It also took quite a long time and it is take out only.
google avatar

Andrea B.

Yelp
OMG You MUST try the spicy chicken & waffles. Worth the 1 hr drive from the burbs x1000000
google avatar

Christopher V.

Yelp
The food was ok, but I haven't tried a ton of gluten free restaurants. Maybe it's better relative to their direct competition. Each item needed a little more love, herbs and spice. The service was my main issue. Our waiter was tough to track down and the other waiters seemed annoyed when requests were made. I'm sorry. ..I understand this isn't your table, but what should I do when my designated waiter disappears? I'd consider revisiting only if dining with a gluten free companion. Maybe my experience was a one off.

M. C.

Yelp
I did not feel like cooking tonight . On my way home from work I decided to stop in. They are in a different location now and no indoor seating available, too bad. That did not diminish the quality of the food. While I was waiting for my take out order of pumpkin soup, I had a nice chat with Osmar who has been there for some time. We talked about the quality of the ingredients. When I got home, I plated the soup and sourdough bread you see in the photo. It was the best pumpkin soup I have tasted in a long time and I could tell it was made with quality ingredients, spices and great care. Give them a chance. You will see that gluten free is so much better than what it used to be!

Yelp
essentially the only dedicated gluten-free restaurant/cafe in Chicago. the food is amazing whether you eat gluten or not. As a celiac I am so grateful for this place. the folks who own, run, and work in house are all wonderful and knowledgeable. A big cheers to wheats end cafe!

Yelp
THE AMBIENCE It's pretty packed...expect to wait for 15-20 minutes to get seated. But they do have a nice bench to wait on. The noise level is medium-to-high. Seating is pretty tight as well. The first time I was here I sat on one of the benches in the middle of the restaurant and it was pretty cold. I'd expect that seated by the door (which I was the second time) but not further away from the door. That made the experience less enjoyable. THE FOOD I love that the meals are gluten free and most can be made dairy free! The first time I visited here, I tried the chocolate chip & banana waffles, bacon, orange mimosa and iced almond latte. I wasn't impressed with the waffles...they could have added more chocolate chips and bananas. The bacon was too crispy for my liking. The orange mimosa and iced almond latte were fine. Overall, the meal did not meet my expectations The second time I visited here, I tried the avocado toast (with a poached egg), iced mocha, and fruit. I did enjoy the toast and the iced mocha. I was still hungry after eating so that's why I ordered a side of fruit but I would not order that again. I'd definitely return to try a few more items that looked good or just have them deliver one time. THE SERVICE The first time, service was quite slow and the waitress forgot my friend's side order and took forever to return with a second Bloody Mary. Due to the slow service, she did give my friend his second Bloody Mary for free. The second time, service was much quicker, so it may have just been that particular waitress or too many variables out of the waitress's control. GETTING THE CHECK They use Clover which is awesome! They print out the bill, you review it, then if all looks correct, you pay right then and there. Quick and painless.

Yelp
100% gluten-free hidden gem in Chicago! They're currently offering take-out and delivery only due to Covid. We made a point to visit during our trip to Chicago this year since I have celiac and am always on the hunt for good gluten-free food where I feel safe eating. The menu is great, offering a variety of breakfast, brunch and lunch foods. It was hard to choose what to order! I ended up with the spicy chicken and waffle, because when else can I find that dish made gluten-free?! It was so good with just the right amount of spice and sweet. My husband got the spicy chicken sandwich on focaccia bread, a weekend special, with sweet potato fries. I tried a bite (or three) of the sandwich and it was amazing. We couldn't leave without getting some baked goods for later on. We opted for the cinnamon bun, brownie and an orange cranberry scone. All were delicious. This will be a go-to spot each time we visit Chicago for sure. The menu also had a lot of items marked vegan, FYI!

Yelp
As a gluten-intolerant gal who often feels a bit left out at meals (especially brunches), I'd been trying to get here for months! This weekend I finally had time. We arrived around 2pm with an hour until close. It was busy but we didn't have to wait for a table. We ordered a popover, cheddar cheese biscuits and sausage gravy, spicy potatoes and the prosciutto eggs Benedict. There seemed to be some issue with the ticketing system and we ended up waiting about 30 minutes before having to flag down a staff member to ask about our food. Our neighbors who arrived after us received their food much before us. The staff immediately addressed our concerns and the food came out shortly after. Our waitress, as an apology, gave us two baked goods on the house. Although we were quite hangry waiting for or food, the staff's swift action and kindness made up for it. Now on to the food! While the popover was good, the honey butter that accompanied it was the real star. I would recommend anything with the honey butter! Spicy potatoes were tasty but my girlfriend and I agreed that we would have liked them crispier. The eggs benedict were satisfying and I would highly recommend the seeded English muffin over the original. Finally, I've missed biscuits and gravy since cutting gluten. The gravy did not disappoint. I was in heaven. We also loved the cheddar biscuits and would recommend those over the plain. Overall, it wasn't the most mind-blowing meal of my life but I was so happy to look at a menu and be able to eat it all. My girlfriend liked her food and said "for gluten-free" it was good.

Jim D.

Yelp
Decent place. Nothing really stood out nor was anything displeasing. The avocado toast was the only one I've had not served on some type of sourdough or anything artisanal but it was fine. I opted for chicken sausage atop my English muffin sandwich. What was lacking with my sandwich was some type of jelly or aioli hence it was very dry to say the least. I have to state that I had tons of trouble trying to place an order via the "Ritual" app & when trying to use "UberEats" the menu didn't allow me to order certain products such as the avocado toast but a quick phone call to the restaurant allowed me to place an order & they gave me a specific pickup time. The search for my holy grail breakfast spot amongst covid/takeout continues...

Yelp
So much avocado I love it! Usually it's much less and a thin layer only elsewhere. I added an egg when I got home. Didn't want to pay that extra $2. I'm jobless right now or otherwise I would. . #postgymmeal

Yelp
I had just gotten off a flight from Florida to Illinois and was starving. I looked for a gluten free restaurant near me and Wheat's End came up. I had never been there before, so I was taking a gamble which is always the case with gluten free food :-). I looked at the menu and they had food food (lol) not just cookies or bread. I lost my mind. I ordered waffles, a chicken sandwich (last had 10+yrs ago), a grilled cheese sandwich, pumpkin ginger doughnut, and a cinnamon roll (can't recall last time I had one). All that was just for me a 5'2" female. My guest ordered the shrimp and grits and a shrimp panini style sandwich. So, after order all this food, I was nervous that I wouldn't like it. Boy was I wrong!! I devoured the gooey grilled cheese on fresh bread in the car. I don't know what grains they used in that sandwich but wwwoooowww!!! Then drove 1hr to my hotel to eat the rest. The fried chicken sandwich I'm sure would easily beat Popeyes or Chick-fil-A. It was still crispy and fried to perfection. The chicken was juicy and fresh. The bread wasn't soggy by the time I arrived at the hotel. I tried my friend's food as well. The vegetables in the shrimp sandwich were crispy and not over sauteed. The bread was fantastic. I ate the blueberry waffles and sweets the next day and I was equally as impressed as the first day. They are closed on Mondays so I couldn't drive the hr. to get it fresh but it held up overnight. If you struggle to find gluten free restaurants with an extensive menu, you definitely have to try Wheat's End in IL!!! I give them a 10 out of 5!! I absolutely loved the food (so did my non gluten food eating friend lol) and the service!

Yelp
The most soft and fluffy donuts I've ever had in my mouth all I could think about what if this was a fat piece of cake right now!!! The fried vegetable entree with the dip tasted very fresh and delicious. Reminded me of a falafel. I could eat that every day as well! On a side note I walked in when they just opened and the staff was nice and friendly and ready to work. Some places the workers are not even awake yet. For this place to serve such good food and service at opening time... I give you 10 STARS!!!!

Yelp
Excellent GF pancakes. I got the stack of 4 which was WAY too much pancake, the 2 will do you.

Yelp
Good food - but baked goods like bagels and English muffins are high in sodium for someone with a low sodium diet.

Yelp
A friend of mine brought me here because she's wanted to try it for a while. She was set on the bagel and lox so I decided to get something different. I was stuck mainly between the pancakes and waffles, so I asked the waiter for her thoughts. Apparently the waffles are only available on the weekends, so I went ahead and got those. The chocolate chip waffles came with bananas on top, and were just scrumptious. Without being too sweet, they satisfied my sweet tooth. Crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. They were easy to cut and had the chocolate chips spread out nicely. The bananas has a sort of glaze over them, not entirely sure what it is, but adds a nice crispy and not too tough texture to the bananas. A couple more slices of bananas would have been nice! Employees were all very kind. I asked for honey and she forgot for a bit but came back, apologized and asked if I still wanted it, then brought it out right away. It's also cool that they are able to charge by dish/person. Also the name of this restaurant is just beyond clever, as it's a gluten free spot!

Yelp
My best friend and I were in Chicago for a concert. She has celiacs, and I am vegan, so finding a place with both options isn't always an easy task. We tried this place out, and were pleasantly surprised. The interior is adorable, although it is take out only currently. I appreciate them taking precautions in this sense. We both got iced lattes, which there were lots of syrup/milk options for. For food, I got the everything bagel with vegan cream cheese, and my friend got the lemon poppyseed donut. Both were delicious, and very reasonably priced. The employees were extremely accommodating and kind- they answered all of our questions very knowledgeably. Would love to make this a frequent breakfast spot of mine if I lived closer! If you're thinking of trying Wheat's End out, do not hesitate!

Yelp
My daughter and I drove across town 45 minutes because I'm gluten free. Unfortunately everything we had was pretty gross. I had a basic salad with grilled chicken. The chicken was super rubbery..almost fake looking and tasting. My daughter had the chicken sandwich. The chicken itself was good. The gf bun not so good. Last we had a lemon poppyseed doughnut that tasted like beyond horrible. Maybe we just got unlucky that day. Expensive and we were starving after lunch:(

Yelp
We enjoyed our gluten free lunch . The place was a little bit small but very nice and cozy. CLASSIC BENEDICT with english muffin, two poached eggs, asparagus, hollandaise & sauteed seasoned spinach was great.

Yelp
A must try for everyone!! My husband and I visited this place for brunch on weekend morning and man was I glad we did! Mind you, showing up hungry and having a 30 min wait isnt always fun but glad we did wait! Being gluten free myself, i was overjoyed at the options. They are endless and the whole menu is open to eat! A rare find for those gluten free. The food was delicious! As well as presented nicely. We started with two different flavors of donuts, chocolate and pumpkin, both delicious. For warning, the chocolate is very decadent. Then I had trouble deciding on the main so I got one slice of avocado toast and then a side chive biscuit with vegetable gravy. The toast was awesome and the biscuit delicious. Although I wish I would have had the sausage gravy. There wasnt anything wrong with the veggie and it was tasty, but came with chunks of veggies in it which I wasnt expecting. My husband ordered the chicken and waffles, and I highly recommend them! They were so tasty!! All said and done, this quaint little place is going to be a new favorite of mine!

Yelp
Quaint neighborhood cafe serving an entire gluten-free menu! Despite being very gluten tolerant, the name and restaurant aesthetics caught my eye. On a Sunday afternoon, there was no wait for two seats at the counter. It was a tight fit but we were hungry! We ordered a Bellini, OJ, pancakes, lox bagel, chocolate donut, and a side of potatoes. We were satisfied with everything. The potatoes were toasted and seasoned well. Donut was unexpectedly served warm and still delightful. I wish the prices were lower but still recommend!

Yelp
First of all, hilarious name. Second, do you know how hard it is to find gluten free AND dairy free food?? Practically impossible. So many times it's one or the other. But I'm visiting from Missouri and knew I had to try this place, and thank goodness I did! The everything bagel was freakin delicious. The decadent chocolate donut melted in my mouth. The pumpkin cinnamon roll was not overwhelmingly pumpkin and just tasted like a normal roll (in the best way!!) I believe it was Riley that helped me and she was very nice. 10/10 recommend.

Yelp
Ahhh. I want to give this 5 stars so badly. The food is incredible and the staff is really nice but they have really struggled with wait times for their orders in COVID. I went a month ago and they lost our order and we waited over an hour and a half. They gave us a free coffee and I absolutely understand that happens. We gave it another try today and it took over an hour for an avocado toast and donut. The food is incredible and I know that staffing can be challenging in COVID but fair warning that if you are going to get food here you must have the expectation of waiting at least an hour. We won't be back due to the long wait times, not quite worth the wait. Update to the review. They lost our order again and that is worth 1 star to me! Clearly system issues here! Avoid.
