Austin’s New Restaurant & Bar Openings

"Adding to Austin’s growing scene of “elevated sports bars,” WTF Sporting Club (from the team behind Whiskey Tango Foxtrot on West Sixth Street) is just what the name sounds like. In addition to drinks and fancy bar food like bao bun flights and flatbread pizzas, there are plenty of TVs and a two-story projector screen. " - nicolai mccrary

WTF Sporting Club - Review - Austin - The Infatuation

New West Sixth Bar Whiskey Tango Foxtrot Icehouse Is Open With Whiskey | Eater Austin

"Opened this week in downtown Austin, I found Whiskey Tango Foxtrot Icehouse occupying a shuttered Gatti’s Pizza at 701 West Sixth Street; it features an indoor bar and a spacious patio and is billed as a lounge offering high-end whiskeys, though the drink menu is still being finalized. Given the ample space, the venue plans to host live music, and New York sausage spot Schaller’s Stube Sausage Bar will run a food truck on-site starting next week. The bar leans into a fox theme — its Instagram makes ample use of popular animal account @juniperfox without credit — and it enforces a "Style Guide," aka a dress code, that prohibits certain items. First announced in 2015, its opening was delayed until this year, and it is open daily (hours not yet posted)." - Erin Russell

I was given a buzzer that didn't work, so I wasn't notified when my food was ready. They were very understaffed; the wait at the bar was 3-4 people deep. I finally got someone's attention at the bar who found my food, and it was barely warm. They were having a viewing party for Love Island and weren't prepared for the crowd. Very disappointing.

Dalton was the door guy, he noticed it was my friends birthday when checking his ID. Once we got to the bar, he found us in the crowd (it was love island finale night) and gave us 2 free drink tokens for his bday. Also kat, the outside bartender, was so attentive and cool. Never been to WTF before tonight but will be going back. Thanks for making it a great experience for my friends birthday. 🤗🥳

The worst mocktail I’ve ever had in Austin came from here. A “strawberry” nojito that had so much strawberry concentrate that I kept adding water to dissolve it and still tasted like shit. My partner’s cocktail was also so bad that they had to switch to drinking sparkling bottled wine. They have no food either. The bartenders are just laying around while there’s people waiting at the bar or drinking. Saw this girl bartender take two shots at 5 pm. 10/10 do not recommend

Imagine a place trying so hard to be LA… in the middle of East Austin. Neon lights, overpriced drinks, bottle girls in rhinestones but zero clue how to actually run a bar. Want to watch the game? Too bad. They’d rather blast generic house music over the Super Bowl than let anyone hear the sound. Sports bar? Please. This is more like a failed TikTok set with flat wings and flat vibes. And if you’re wondering why your bartender looks pissed it’s probably because they haven’t been paid. Yes, seriously. They owe thousands to employees and vendors. Liquor reps won’t even deliver anymore. Lien season is coming, and it’s not just the walls crumbling it’s the whole operation. Let’s be real: They don’t get Austin. They don’t belong in Austin. This city is about community, energy, and real hospitality not staged clout and shady business practices. If you’re into wasting money, being ignored, and getting scammed, go for it. If you have taste, respect yourself and go literally anywhere else.

This place sucks. Stood in line 45 minutes to close a tab, and no AC! Every spot at the bar was packed 6-7 people deep early on a Thursday evening. Bartenders slow and clueless, one of them with a bad attitude puts on her purse and goes home leaving a service gap, and the rest of the bartenders then completely ignored those of us in the area that wasn't 'their section'. Had to yell loudly with swear words to get anyone to care. After 45 minutes I was about to pass out from the heat as the AC was broken. I originally wanted another drink but instead closed out without tipping and left, I have a feeling I wasn't the only one after that. Bunch of clowns.

went there to watch hockey finals, thinking it was sports bar? I mean from the pictures on Google, there's tv's everywhere! Got there at 7pm, and only around 8 actual customers in the whole place, 4 of which were also there to watch the game. had to ask to put game on, but no sound? 2 young women, who were supposedly managers, but probably owners daughters said "it was against the rules to have the sound on" so instead we had to listen to manager's music mix, which was ridiculous, considering the place was basically empty it was clear, these young women were just being selfish and pretentious. so in summary it's not a sports bar, but rather an entitled brat bar. also the food menu only had 3 things on it. the chicken sandwich was absolute crap. burger was soggy. I don't think this place will last long, pretty much everything sucked including the service!!

Absolutely obsessed with WTF Sporting Club! From the moment you walk in, the vibe is just *chef’s kiss* — modern, clean, and so much fun. The space is gorgeous, with tons of thoughtful design touches that make it feel both elevated and welcoming. The staff? Super friendly and attentive — they clearly love what they do and it shows in the service. Now let’s talk about the food — *so good.* Everything we ordered was flavorful, fresh, and came out looking like it belonged on a magazine cover. And the drinks? Wow. Not only are they picture-perfect, but they’re also genuinely delicious (zero watered-down cocktails here). Whether you're here for a chill hangout or a fun night out, WTF delivers on all fronts. Can’t wait to come back!
