Wild Ginger Throws Open Doors in Luxury SLU Building McKenzie - Eater Seattle

"Wild Ginger opens its new location this weekend in the McKenzie luxury apartment building in South Lake Union. The new space will partly center around a large satay bar with more substantial offerings than its downtown and Bellevue locations. It will also introduce some southern Indian flavors to its menu and focus on cocktails for happy hour. Dinner service starts August 18, with happy hour and patio seating from August 22, and lunch from August 27." - Tim Forster

Details Emerge About Wild Ginger’s Upcoming Third Location - Eater Seattle

"It was announced this week that hit Asian fusion spot Wild Ginger would be opening up a third location in South Lake Union (right on the edge of Denny Triangle) — now the details are here about what the popular satay-makers have planned. It should arrive in July, as part of luxury apartment development McKenzie, on 8th Avenue and Blanchard Street (right across from , and fittingly will be named Wild Ginger McKenzie. Owner Rick Yoder calls the McKenzie location “another version” of the Wild Ginger brand — it’s a smaller location (for example, the cooking space is 17 feet, compared to 90 feet downtown), so by necessity, it will be a smaller menu of 24 items. Diners will be able to see wok-cooked dishes being prepared via a semi-open kitchen layout, and will be “one cook, one dish” in Yoder’s words. Developer Al Clise of Clise Properties, who own McKenzie, said there was never any question about which restaurateur he wanted in his building. “We didn’t talk to anyone else. Rick was the one I went to.” There will also be a satay bar for the peanutty dish that has helped the restaurant make its name, and cold food section doing cracked crab, oysters, and more. Presumably, the wine program will be solid (Wild Ginger earned another semifinalist position in the James Beard Awards for its wine program just this week), although craft cocktails will also be a focus. The space itself is to be built with reclaimed wood from Indonesia offering nice detail — it should seat around 140 people with an outdoor patio factored in, including a handful of bar seats privy to the culinary action. It should be ready for service in July, doing dinner seven days, weekday lunches, and possibly brunch, along with a happy hour — look out for more details closer to then." - Tim Forster

Google
A solid five star. They offer a great mix of entrees. The four of us split Butter Chicken and Pad Thai. The butter chicken contained huge chunks of chicken and the butter sauce was out of the world. The Pas Thai was made with fish sauce, which added a new flavor profile. Wild Ginger is worth a visit.

We stopped in twice in the same day. Service and drinks were amazing. The second time we stopped in we didn’t realize they close mid day. They seated us and served us and didn’t say anything. We didn’t realize until later and we didn’t know. The staff was amazing and so welcoming. Food was absolutely fantastic. The duck and the beef were so great. Highly recommend!

Google
This is a nice restaurant with tasty food. Service is pretty good, the food is excellent if you like Thai/Asian food. Portions aren't huge, but they're enough to share if you order a few dishes. The weird thing was there was an overhead flickering light that was going off and on our entire visit. It was distracting and made our visit less enjoyable. Hopefully they'll fix the light!

Google
Good place to chat after work but the food is not quite expected. The lamb is a bit bitter and the spring rolls are too oily but maybe it’s just me.

Google
Butter chicken (3.75/5) - little salt heavy Emerald breeze (3/5) - took without ice, it was okay! Green Curry Chicken (3/5) - Tastes a bit different. Liked eating as an extra but would be probably difficult to finish it alone. Service was really nice.

Really solid place. Our server was a really nice irish gentleman that made us feel at home and gave great suggestions. Atmosphere is nice as well. Chicken satay: i probably wouldn't order them again. Good sauce, liked the cucumbers on the side, but didn't love the chicken. Green chicken curry: fantastic. Delicious sauce and loved all vegetables in there. Sichuan green beans: I wasn't even looking at these, but the waiter recommended them and i loved them. probably the most green beans i've ever eaten. :-) Hot monkey business: wow, great drink. Could drink that every night. if i was going to knock them for one thing it's the rice. They charged for rice, and it wasn't especially good. The brown rice had a lot of crunchy bits. It was almost closing time, and i'm sure they would've swapped it out, so not a huge deal but something to watch for.

Google
Prime location, delicious food. Our server made us welcomed and comfortable, my lunch order included a Fragrance duck and Vietnamese iced coffee, both are great, the duck meat are tender, wrapped in the steamed bun, dip into the sauce, all are blended & flavorful. Satay pork skewer is great choice as well if you want a starter. I am not sure about the parking, we rode the street car from SLU to the restaurant. Our group of 6 people, the bill is like 320$ (before tip) Everything inside looks clean and neat, will come back definitely.

Google
Nice place with great service. We tried the lamb and the Mongolian noodles. Both were tasty and the portion could be sharing size, specially the noodle dishes. For appetizers we got the spring rolls also tasty but nothing special. I will try something else next time. The prizes are on the higher end but for sure worth it.

Yelp
At the recommendation of our hotel concierge, we stopped in for a late lunch / early dinner and were spoiled by the attention from our amazing waiter. He expertly guided us through menu recommendations and was always within reach throughout our meal, finishing our sentences - "another beer?" "more sauce?" "please try some of this gelato to offset the heat" (who knew?!) We had the duck (try it!!), the Mongolian noodles (nice kick and rich flavor), and bok choy (clso flavorful) on the side. A different chef came out with more buns for the duck entree. Just such a welcoming atmosphere. We will be back!

Yelp
I'm in town for business and went here for a dinner by myself. They only had seating in the bar area (it was empty, but apparently there were a lot of reservations), but that's fine. Staff was friendly and attentive. I had the Malaysian satey and the duck. The chicken skewers were nicely charred and came with a peanut sauce. The sauce was a little understated, but with the charred flavor of the chicken it worked and was quite tasty. The duck had crispy, well seasoned skin, and the fluffy bao with the plum sauce complimented the tender duck quite well. Overall it was a little pricier than Im used to for Chinese food, but it was very good.

Yelp
Review based on two visits: They are really fortunate to have such awesome staff. Kind, professional, helpful. Atmosphere of building is nice, simple, big, accommodating. What they do well: desserts, prompt service, hand towels between meals that are nicely hot and refreshing. The lamb chops and lettuce cups were a good choice. What they can work on: quality of rice, there's just better tasting brands, way to cook, and be fresh. And honestly, cocktails were mediocre for me.

Yelp
Food was awesome! I tried their mangoljan noodles and chicken pot stickers and both were AWESOME! Service is a bit questionable. They aren't super attentive, the staff is also a bit insensitive. I went with a friend who is 8 months pregnant and they gave us the high chairs table. When I asked them to change it, they moved us to the table in the back near the washroom even though they had 5 booths empty (they were empty even when we left) Ambience- surrounded by glass windows overlooking some of the busiest streets in Seattle. Was very pretty

Yelp
One of the best restaurants in Seattle! We have been coming here for the last 35 years and love them! The Hunan Tuna is my favorite. I also love the satay bar. The wine selection is amazing. Service is beyond perfect and friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
My friends wanted a group dining and in Seattle since my friend has officially moved to Seattle, so this was more of a celebration dinner. I chose this one over the Downtown location, well, I don't need to spell it out. But Amazon buildings just look so beautiful at night. We had a reservation, so they gladly sat us at our table, and to be honest, we filled out that table that night with our friends, and ordered a lot on the menu so we can have a good taste of the restaurant and its style of Asian Fusion. Funny enough, I walked into the restaurant thinking it was Asian Fusion, because front of house just look like a lot of white people, but as I look into the kitchen it is all people of colour. I am happy to see that as I know their spice levels will be on point and I was correct. Our table ordered the following: Papaya Salad- This was delicious, as it was perfectly spiced with Thai Red chilis. On top of that, the way they prepared it was marinade it either over night, it loses the crunch of the papaya but it was extremely delicious. 4/5 Fragant Duck- These were presented like the typical Chinese dinner of eating duck at a restaurant. It comes with over sized steamed baos, and sliced up duck, and plum sauce with pepper and some greens. What it is missing are chives. I wanted chives with this dish, as it would add a delicious taste and rounded out the plum sauce with perfect acidity. I loved their mix of their plum sauce and the way we had to mix the plum sauce with the peper/salt combo. Good rendition of a duck dish for sure. 4.5/5 Chicken Pad-Thai - Cute, but it needs a bit more spice to this. A bit sweet for my taste. Maybe add some red chilis or either some more texture. I do enjoy they add both chicken and tofu as a delicious protein. Another thing that I wanted from this plate was wok heat. It was missing it. Either it was wok cooked or it was sitting on the passing a bit too long. I felt the heat died on this plate. But really, the texture is really missing for me on this plate and the additional spices. 3/5 Angkor Wat Chicken- Surprisingly, this was extremely delicious! I had lot of this as I love a good black bean style fry dish. This plate had perfectly spiced food. On top of that, you can REALLY REALLY feel the heat of this dish. It was a good wok style of cooking for this one!! I wish it wasn't a chicken meat but a beef one instead. Regardless, I would 100% recommend this dish if you are searching for that delicious style black bean dish. 4/5 Green Curry Chiken- MEH. I am allowed to say this because it was missing on all points of being a good curry dish. It wasn't spicy enough, the potatoes weren't cooked throughly and the curry was just bland. And to be honest, ANOTHER CHICKEN? They need to add different types of meats onto the menu. To add like a flair to the dish, add lines of coconut milk as a plating style to add presentation. 2.5/5 But, I can't just discredit the kitchen, their drinks were on point and they were delicious. I tried every drink my friends ordered, and on top of that my favourite drink of the night was the Suntory Time. The darkness of the tea was a perfect mix with that whisky. I will only recommend to friends who wants drinks and small bites, other than that, I think a large dinner will need a revamp of the menu or either add more spice.

Yelp
I just got the chicken satay and our friends split the crispy spring rolls. Spring rolls were solid, though those are pretty hard to mess up! Got the chicken satay appetizer since I wasn't super hungry, I think it ran me $13-15? It came with 6 little flavorful skewers with a slightly-sweet and chunky peanut dipping sauce, little cubes of sticky rice, and a tiny salad. Delightful! We came in at a very odd hour so hardly anyone was in the building. It was very spacious (two floors) with a slightly upscale ambiance. Servers were friendly and attentive!

Yelp
The duck was absolutely worth coming back for. I would highly recommend! Here's what we ordered: * Fragrant Duck: This duck was amazing, and I didn't expect such delicious steamed buns. This is a must-have and the reason for this 5-star review. I will happily come back *just for this dish, and I highly recommend you do the same. * Seven Flavor Beef: The beef here was very tender and well-prepared. The sauce was delicious, although a bit too salty. This dish does need rice! I would say this is a step up from your neighborhood mongolian beef, but I don't think it blew me out of this world. * (Curry): This dish was a bit bland, and the curry didn't have much taste. I wouldn't recommend this dish, but definitely try the other two! As other reviews mentioned before, food did take a while, but the waitstaff is very attentive with water and getting seated was a breeze. We were seated right by the window, so we had lovely views of folks mooning us from the street -- there may be more ideal seating areas elsewhere. All in all, I will be back... possibly just for the duck!

Yelp
A great find in a trendy "Amazon" neighbour where new developments and Amazon spheres and offices are located. Great green curry chicken and spring rolls were crispy and delicious. Nice atmosphere and wasn't too busy but I think the more people who discover this place it will become a lot busier. Good service and good selection of Southeast Asian cuisine.

Yelp
Delicious food. Top notch service. We had the duck and the northern pork. Both were excellent.

Yelp
Went there for a team dinner and the service alone was worthy of getting a 5-star. The place is bright, cleaner and has a modern vibe to it. Our server was amazing in handling a group of 13, he recommended drinks and recommended food order to place. He checked everyone's dietary restrictions and guided us on what to order and how much. His recommendations had a good mix of flavor for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. We all had a good time and will go there again.

Yelp
For lunch my company took me to Wild Ginger. Soon as you walk in it looks trendy. We were greeted and taken to our table pretty fast. I ordered the Butter Chicken w/ Rice and it was good. After we were done eating the waiter brought hot towels wipe our hand. It's a nice place to go hang out and eat some food. I'd recommend this place to everyone.

Yelp
Tonight, was a fantastic dining experience at Wild Ginger on 8th. We had amazing cocktails (I highly recommend the Mackenzie). Two delicious appetizers- including delicious chicken Satay. The highlight was the lamb chops- perfectly cooked and seasoned with a spicy hoisan sauce! But the best part was the excellent service we were given by my new best friend Eddie from Ireland! He was delightful and made the evening a joy. We will be back!

Yelp
We normally drive to Bellevue about twice a month just to eat at Wild Ginger. Decided to give the South Lake Union location a try. The service was so incredibly slow that I had to go find a pitcher of water and fill our glasses myself. When my husband took glasses to the bartender to refill our kids' drinks, the bartender was shocked that no one was serving is. There was a server who was super attentive to the table next to us. At the last minute, he suddenly started to take an interest in us. So he came and served us. In the end, we waited so long for our food we determined we didn't save any time from not driving to Bellevue. Really disappointing since this location is five minutes from our house. At least the food was good.

Yelp
I was here on a weekday for a team lunch. The place was quite empty and we were immediately seated. The nice bar in the centre immediately caught my attention. I would definitely like to come here for dinner/drinks sometime for the ambiance! We were 6 in the party and we ordered 1) fragrant duck - good enough for 2-3 people to share, my teammates said it was a bit too salty though 2) chicken pad Thai - got decent reviews from my colleague 3) green chicken curry - my colleague didn't like it, mentioned the chicken was undercooked 4) sayur lodeh - it was okay 3/5 for me. We also got the beef and mushroom satay. Both were great! One of my teammates said they should have gotten 5 more of the beef satay instead of the main course. Most of us has lemongrass lemonade which was okay. After we finished the lunch, we were handed warm towels (which was a first for me!). The servers even offered to pack the leftovers for us! Overall, the place is a bit expensive. We paid $264 for lunch for 6 people without alcoholic drinks. The portion sizes were decent though. I'll come here again but will buy the gift card from Costco to pay as you can get $100 worth of gift card for $80.

Yelp
Thai food is my most favorite food in the world. Love that Wild Ginger is in a convenient location, so I can easily satisfy my cravings! Food: Had the Thai seafood noodles. Noodles were a good chewy texture and flavored well. It didn't feel too greasy or salty. I just wish there was more seafood considering how pricy the dish was. Service: Service was very attentive and kind. Staff was always around. Ambiance: Very upscale, refined, and clean restaurant. It's just a really elegant space that feels fancy. Tables are nicely spaced apart so you don't feel too crowded or hectic. Overall great ambiance.

Yelp
I've been wanting to come here for so long cause everyone would rave about their food. I enjoyed the food but it wasn't my favorite. I was expecting so much more flavor and to knock my socks off with delight. Don't get me wrong it was good but wasn't worth the hype. I was pumped to try the fragrant duck but it wasn't exploding with flavor which I thought it would. The green beans were the best plate we got. We got one course to go along with the other stuff and it was plenty of food for two. Drinks were decent. Service was fantastic! They have a huge bar in area in the back which was cool but they haven't reopened it since covid, bummer for them. Hope it picks back up! Very convenient place to go before a show at the 5th Ave.

Yelp
I came here with a friend of mine last Friday for a celebratory dinner. Very fancy spot for any special occasion. Here's what we got: Malay Chicken Skewers: 9/10 - Very tender & lots of flavor. The ginger sauce on the side was amazing. Definitely a shareable dish. Is it worth the price? Probably not, but the flavors were out of this world. Fragrant Duck Buns: 10/10 - I would come here just for this. The roast duck was very tasty -- light crisp skin & juicy meat. The bun itself was delicious. Very nice pairing. Definitely worth the money you spend. 7 Flavored Beef: 5/10 - Super mid. You can probably fine this flavor profile at any other restaurant to be honest. Not worth it! Overall I would come back here for a nice dinner. The staff were very friendly, quick to clean up your mess. They checked up on us regularly which was very nice. Welcoming to all guest. Very good job!

Yelp
I love this place so much. The only thing I ever get here is the sea bass because it is so incredibly prepared. The flavor of the sauce is delicious and it just falls apart in your mouth. It is quite pricey though. My only complaint is that there wasn't enough sauce for my side of rice, when usually I go to the Bellevue location and there is a lot of sauce with the dish. Otherwise fantastic!

Linda L.

Yelp
Great for a large crowd. The food is amazing and the service is great! We were in downtown for a conference and so glad that one of the locals recommend this place. Some of my co-workers visited this place few night later that is how much they like it. Definitely recommend this place !
google avatar

Kelly L.

Yelp
Food here is amazing - we love the Indian butter chicken in particular and the lemongrass lemonade is refreshing! Food came very quickly and the space itself is so open and nice. Would come back again!

Randy B.

Yelp
I'm bummed...I've been a fan of Wild Ginger since it opened in Pike Place below the Alibi Room in the alley. I've suffered through the corporate modernization of the Bellevue location but tonight was not great on almost all points...hold Mickey the nicest bartender I've met in a while. When I came in (around 7pm) it was really cold. I assumed it might be me as I came in from a cold walk but after a while I asked the person next to me if they were cold and they felt the same...very cold to the point of covering their hands with their sweater. So I asked one of the bartenders if they could check on the heat and they said they felt the same and had all night. I ordered and my food came pretty spot on but the rice was half cooked. I was surprised as it's Wild Ginger and serves rice for a living. So I kindly let Mickey know that the rice was half done and he kindly said he'd heard the same from others. The lighting in this location is stark and not cozy like all of your successful other locations All this aside, I asked to chat with the GM as I own a restaurant and I want this relatively new location to thrive.. The GM is part of the problem...doesn't look people in the eyes and quickly moves to avoid conversation. WG...you can do better. Hoping to see some positive changes soon

Yelp
Wild Ginger had mixed reviews, mostly because of issues with the service and value but it sounded like the food was good so we decided to order takeout from there. We got Peking duck, 7 flavor beef, pad thai, Thai spring rolls, Mongolian noodles and flank steak, green curry, and two Thai teas. For reasons that I don't understand, the beef and curry don't come with rice. So we had to order a couple of sides of rice. Five entrees, an appetizer, the rice, and two Thai teas was about $150. While I did think it was a little pricey, the value was very good. Portions were large and we all had leftovers. And more importantly, the food was delicious. The duck was moist, the lettuce was crisp, the buns were fluffy, and the plum sauce perfectly accompanied it all. The noodles with flank steak were probably the best bites I had but the 7 flavor beef was also very flavorful. The pad Thai was a bit clumpy for me but I did appreciate that they were willing to make it without tofu. I would return to Wild Ginger if I were back in the area. The dining room was quite busy despite our going close to closing time. Service was ok. I think I spoke with an employee on her first day so she didn't seem sure about much that I asked.

Tim D.

Yelp
I wasn't too hungry so just ordered a beer and the fragrant duck. Wow. This was definitely a 10/10 in my overly-critical book, so I'm giving it five stars. The duck was super tender and cooked perfectly. The dipping sauce brought out the flavor of the duck also perfectly. Excellent job on this dish.
google avatar

Melody T.

Yelp
Omg! This was so good. Appetizer tried- chicken satay, sea bass lettuce wraps, duck bao buns, papaya salad... all delicious AF. For entrees we got butter chicken, seafood Thai noodles, chicken pad Thai, and Sea Bass. That sea bass was the best sea bass I've ever tasted. The service was perfect. I recommend!
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Seven flavor beef is disgusting. I thought it was whole pieces of meat, it it was mushy meat. Gross, I couldn't finish it and it smelt so much like fish sauce. The smell was super strong. Satay is good. They only gave a small amount of peanut dipping sauce. We are talking a quarter of the dipping cup. So strange. The Thai beef salad was alright as well as potstickers. I felt like there was more dough wrapped then meat filling. The best thing we had was the green beans. It was flavorful with a good spice kick to finish.

Yelp
I had an enjoyable time this evening at the Wild Ginger. Peter took care of us and he was spectacular! He was quick to make suggestions and alternative suggestions to meet the dietary restrictions of my friend. I cannot wait to come back and I'm here again. I love the decor, it was industrial modern. I was also pleased that the bathrooms were super clean. I highly recommend the lamb chops with white rice, Seabass, and green beans. You won't regret it!
google avatar

Yelp
First time trying this Place and many people talked about this place to me. I didn't regret trying it. The food are super good! You should definitely try this place at least once. The only part I want to give suggestion is, I totally understand it is short staffed and it's kinda busy during that time (kinda not really during that time). Our server was really ignoring us the whole time even if we make eye contact couple times and knowing we need things. My friend has to ask him and other person to help. We had to wait to get service for a long time, and my friend had to flag him down eventually. When he walked to our table he had that b face and wasn't really great service. Overall he kept ignoring us and left us hanging for long time. We didn't say anything because we don't want him to lost his job but he should definitely work on his attitude and response.

Yelp
To be honest, I wasn't quite sure what to expect of this place given that the menu seemed so expansive and covered a wide array of cuisines. However, to my happy surprise, I really loved the food, drink, ambiance, and service here. I have already returned twice because it was so good and have tried many things on the menu at this point! Highlights on the menu include: - Fragrant duck - so much flavor, and lots of fun to create your own "duck bun" with dipping sauce - Sea bass with peanuts and fresh herbs - really delicious, tender sea bass, and comes accompanied with a fragrant set of accompanying spices/herbs - Indian butter chicken - seems like a basic option, but it was really creamy and flavorful, perfect for a colder fall or winter day - Mongolian noodles - longer noodles stir-fried in sauce, has a bit of a kick, overall a really great selection if you're craving noodles - Seafood noodles - flatter rice noodles, similar to a pad see ew if this is more what you're looking for Definitely a place to try if you're looking for a tour of Asian cuisines (particularly southeast Asian). As a plus, the restaurant is beautifully adorned with modern decor, and the space is quite large which makes it easier to find a last minute reservation.

Yelp
I've always heard good things about Wild Ginger but never got a chance to try it for myself, and it delivered so well! I came for lunch on a weekday and they were able to seat us for a group of 9 people right away. The menu has so many good options to choose from so it was hard to make a decision. I ended up ordering the lamb chops, which was a fantastic decision! The sauce on the lamb chops was nutty, sweet and spicy. The lamb fell so easily off the bone and was cooked very well. The lamb chops were served with a bowl of rice, and I'd highly recommend eating the rice with the sauce! The waiters were very friendly and walked by often to see if the table needed anything and to fill us up on water. The ambiance is pretty classy and has a nice open space great for small or large parties! It is a bit on the expensive side so if you don't mind dropping a few extra bucks for your meal would suggest coming here as the quality of there dishes definitely raises the bar. If you're in the downtown area looking for a place to eat would highly recommend Wild Ginger!

Yelp
Last evening we celebrated our Granddaughter's 16th Birthday at Wild Ginger McKenzie! It was not only amazing food; but truly exceptional service! Our waiter, Eddie was a master at being attentive and engaging! His suggestions were spot on in terms of recommendations of wine, mixed drinks and flavor profiles! He started out by paying special attention to our birthday girl by bringing her a special not on the menu mocktail! She loved it! We have lived in and visited many special places around the globe and I'm telling you that this gentleman provided us with the most extraordinary service anywhere...including some James Beard & Michelin starred restaurants! This was our 1st visit to the McKenzie location but it will not be our last and we will ask for Eddie EVERY SINGLE TIME!

Yelp
Wild Ginger was the site of our family dinner last week celebrating my daughter's high school graduation, and it delivered on all fronts. It was the first time we've eaten at the South Lake Union location -- but it won't be the last, as the food and service were both excellent. Our server was attentive but not overly so, and his guidance as to what to order (given our large group's diverse dietary preferences and restrictions) , and how much, was spot on. The satays and curries (we tried different versions, veggie and meat) were all delicious, as were the fried rice and Sichuan green beans. The setting is also spacious and striking, with high ceilings and lots of beautiful wood. Bon appetit!

Yelp
Honestly, everything was fine until it was time to pay the bill. Unfortunately, this establishment can't itemize the check for a party and I ended up paying about double the amount for what I consumed. I only had a smaller dish from the Satay bar and asked them to split me off the check. They told me the best they could do was split the check evenly among the table and I had to pay a ton more for nothing I consumed. It's really sad because I've enjoyed this place over the last 15+ years (since I was a kid) and had many great memories. However, if this is an establishment practice, I feel as though I was robbed. With gratuity added on top and still asking for a tip, it just added gasoline to a fire. I couldn't bring myself to offer a tip and I don't think I want to go to a place like this any longer or recommend it to anyone. .

Yelp
Took my team of 22 here for an on-site dinner. Jody was FANTASTIC and SUPER patient walking us through the whole thing and helped with menu choice across our team's wide array of dietary preferences. Day of, Peter and his team made service look effortless. Apps, Entrees, Sides, Desserts, and Drinks for everyone. They made great drink recommendations and helped everyone enjoy the night. Food Recommendation: 7 flavor beef, & beef satay. Highly recommended for any Amazon teams looking for a place to get food and drinks after working in the office with your team.

Yelp
First off the staff here is phenomenal! From the host, to our server, to the busser. Everyone is super friendly and accommodating. My friend and I ate dinner here and I think it was one of the better meals we've had in Seattle. We got the Fragrant Duck, Seven Flavor Beef, Sichuan Green Beans and some delicious drinks. Fragrant Duck: Juicy duck served with steamed buns and sweet plum sauce. I only got the half portion and I was stuffed after eating it. Sooo yummy! Seven Flavor Beef: Flank steak with the seven flavors of lemongrass, peanuts, chilies, hoisin, basil, garlic and ginger. This was amazing. I'd also get a side of their jasmine rice to go with it. Sichuan Green Beans: Our server recommended this and it was really good as an appetizer. If you're a drinker, try the Basil Berry Martini. It's a sweet refreshing treat with your meal. Again, I cannot stress how good the food and service was here. 5/5!

Yelp
Stopped by Wild Ginger while exploring the city. It was very slow with only three tables seated. Once the host seated us and served us water, there was no more service. We eventually had to flag down someone random to order food. My friends and I got the seven flavor beef, wagyu satay, and coconut sago. Seven flavor beef - the dish was the highlight of the meal. The beef was very flavorful with the sauce being the star of the show. It was sweet, savory, and a hint of spice. Wagyu satay - the dish was very questionable. The beef was almost like ground beef and not cubes of beef. The flavor to be honest tasted like taco seasoning and lingered in my mouth after the meal. Definitely do not get this. Coconut sago - not bad of a dessert with coconut flavors coming through. Overall, Wild Ginger was not worth it. First off, the service was horrible as no one came to take our order and items were forgotten in our meal. Second, the portions were very small, expensive, and the items were negatively remembered. Third, rice was not included in the dishes and their large portion is enough for two bowls.

The food was spectacular, the service seamless The ambiance is mellow and you can actually have a conversation!

Yelp
This place is alright. The decor is unoffensive but nice. The food is actually pretty decent, but like all places in SLO, very overpriced. I had the duck with bao buns and actually enjoyed it even though it didn't really taste authentic. Service is about normal. I wouldn't go here if it weren't an expensed work lunch.

Yelp
Wild Ginger was recommended to us by a friend as a place to try around South Lake Union, and being in the area, we decided to swing by and give this location a try! We arrived around 6:15 pm waited via waitlist for 15 minutes to get a table. So I'm going to be giving this review based on the single dish I had while here, which was the Chicken Pad Thai. This dish was pretty tasty, had a good mix of sweet, a little sour, and a little spicy. In comparison to pad thais I've had in the past, I would say this had a more tangy and complex flavor profile that I really enjoyed - Would be a dish I would definitely order again. The wait staff was also attentive and polite, and the overall decor and look of the location is modern and warm. Spent about $17 for this experience, and I would definitely like to come back to try the various other dishes that Wild Ginger has to offer!

Yelp
Simple, elegant, tasty thai tea! Spiced ceylon tea topped with simple half and half makes this natural beauty of a gradient. At $5 a glass, I personally expected it to be it a bit more fancy, but it was not too sweet and full of flavor! Definitely one for the picture books :) I will say this petite bowl of seafood noodles pack quite the punch! There was a plentiful amount of seafood, all of which was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Additionally, there was a reasonable amount of noodles and garnish to make the dish very comprehensive. Really unexpected heat from the leaves, but made for a tasty Thai zing! Restaurant itself is beautiful and the servers were nice. For $19, again this was on the pricey side, but still really good!

Yelp
Spending the night in Seattle before our cruise my friends and I were looking for a high quality Asian cuisine and we found it at Wild Ginger. Our waiter exceeded all our expectations explaining the menu and what dishes paired well with different wines and drinks. For dinner we shared the Chicken Potstickers, Seven Flavor Beef, Fragrant Duck and Chinese Sausage and Shrimp Fried Rice. The main star of the dishes was the Seven Flavor Beef which had an amazing sauce. The Potstickers and Duck were solid and my friend raved about the duck drumstick being better than any chicken wing he's am ever had. I highly recommend Wild Ginger as a destination for locals and travelers like us looking for a delicious dinner.

Yelp
This was my first time hearing of this place. The food was excellent. The environment also a 10/10. Service was quick and friendly. Overall very pleasant experience. We order the Mongolian noodles, spring rolls, a tofu dish I can't remember the name of and some drinks! The noodle dish was my favorite, very flavorful and a little crunch from the almonds they put in there (I think it was almonds? Not sure). The tofu was also really good, crispy yet soft and paired with a really tasty sauce. I'm not a fan of eggplant but the tofu came with it so I gave it a try. If every eggplant dish was made that way, I'd 100% be a fan of eggplant. YOU should definitely eat here, it won't disappoint! Great options for both vegetarians and non.

Yelp
Been here a few times now with groups. Food is very good. Service is always solid too. Great drinks. Especially love the duck (large one feeds two people if you each get an app), the sea bass, and the beef. The duck comes with bao buns and sauce. Absolutely delicious. Large size is half duck, smaller size is 1/4 duck. The holy grail is the green beans though. They are to die for. Also like the chicken salad. Its simple and tangy and a generous portion. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Wild Ginger is my favorite restaurant in the Seattle area. I have always ordered the same dishes. Duck, with extra bao buns and plum sauce. Chicken potstickers. Green beans, always the green beans. Seven flavor beef and rice Absolutely delicious, flavorful food.

Yelp
Food was excellent, service as well. The place was a little empty so felt like might be at the wrong place when I first got there but the hostess and service made up for it.

Yelp
While the food at this outlet of the national chain of Asian restaurants known as Wild Ginger wasn't bad, the atmosphere wasn't fun, as the South Lake Union location screams corporate and Amazon, often synonymous and interchangeable. We sat at the bar that was void of character and soul, much like South Lake Union itself. However, sometimes we want to venture a few blocks away from our home in Belltown, tired of the homeless, the drug addicted, and the mentally ill who reside around our home on Third and Blanchard. The smell of urine and feces, plus the constant badgering for money, can get to you. Yet then the vapidity of SLU, and soulless places like Wild Ginger, makes us yearn for Belltown. Is there no happy medium in Seattle? Maybe not, but I doubt we'll be back to eat at Wild Ginger in South Lake Union.

Yelp
It was a Friday night came in at about 4pm for dinner. No reservations made or needed, we were some of the first diners for the night it seemed. We were greeted and sat promptly, our server Peter, was just wonderful. Honestly one of the best dining experiences we have had thanks to Peter. He was knowledgeable about the menu, and honest about his own preferences, some of which we took. Started off with some drinks, Butterfly Effect which is like a Paloma. 10/10. Then got the wagyu satay, sea bass, and Mongolian noodles. All very flavorful and yummy, a lil spicy tho, which was cool. Anyways overall 5 star experience thanks to Peter, fun fact he also speaks Tagalog. so kudos to you. Cheers y'all! IG: allon_mac

Yelp
First Impression: We looked for a Thai food menu restaurant that was on way to our hotel and we saw wild Ginger on 8th street. Since this was the only place on way to the hotel. We decided to give it a try. So a reservation was made and we were late due to some complication and being out of town we lost the way. Seems there was only one other couple as customer in the area we were seated. During the course of us ordering two waiters approached us to give us an option that if we want to be more comfortable with the child (who was fast asleep) they offered to move is to the booth. My daughter thought that it was a good gesture. But I looked at it differently - maybe it was a ploy to get us away from the main sitting area for fear that the infant would cause disturbance for other customer. They knew when we walked in that we had a sleeping infant with us and despite that we were seated, by their choice to the main section. I find their behavior odd and it had a stint of presumption and a pretense that they cared when in fact it was for their own good and fear avoidance. We opted to stay where we were. That first impression put me in an uncomfortable situation. I did like the the waiter's coming forward to help us better understand the menu and asked if we were familiar and then knowing not, he was kind enough to explain the menu and how to order. On the surface I liked him. The food took very little time to b brought to the table. The shrimp was tough to the bite and very spicy - on both count they could have done better. The white steamed rice side order was hard to chew. The noodles were very spicy. More so than we are used to. That too did not taste like it was freshly made not just from the looks of it, but it took just a few minutes to be served. The price paid was not worth the quality of the food. The 2 star rating was mostly for the first waiter pleasant disposition. If you have a choice ot pick a Thai/Asian restaurant pick something else.
