"It should arrive in July as part of the McKenzie luxury apartment development at 8th Avenue and Blanchard Street, right on the edge of Denny Triangle in South Lake Union. This will be a smaller, more focused version of the Wild Ginger brand: a 24-item menu driven by a 17-foot cooking space (compared with about 90 feet downtown), a semi-open kitchen where diners can watch wok-cooked dishes being prepared in a "one cook, one dish" format, and a satay bar alongside a cold-food section serving cracked crab, oysters, and more. The plan leans on a strong beverage program—craft cocktails will be a focus and the wine program is expected to be solid, especially after Wild Ginger recently earned another James Beard Awards semifinalist nod for its wine program. The interior will feature reclaimed Indonesian wood details, seat around 140 people including an outdoor patio and a few bar seats with views of the culinary action, and offer dinner seven days a week with weekday lunches, possible brunch, and a happy hour. The building promises dramatic 360-degree panoramas—fireworks over Lake Union, seaplanes, sunsets, mountains, and the Space Needle—which should make the rooftop and patio especially impressive for guests." - Tim Forster
