The Best New Restaurants in San Diego | Eater San Diego

"This triple-threat newcomer is at once a coffee shop, bakery, and delicatessen, with an easy fast-casual set-up that makes for foolproof daytime and evening dining (the restaurant is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily). Here, diners can have solid espresso drinks and pastries in the morning, a stacked mortadella focaccia sandwich with pistachio cream and stracciatella for lunch, and cocktails with larger-format dishes like roasted spatchcock chicken with za’atar and piri-piri sauce for dinner. The light, breezy interior with wicker seating only adds to the experience." - Helen I. Hwang

Best Restaurants in San Diego’s Point Loma Neighborhood | Eater San Diego

"The long-awaited Wildflour Delicatessen opened its doors in Liberty Station in March under the stewardship of award-winning chef and San Diego native Phillip Esteban. Sit out on the sun-dappled (and pet-friendly) patio for people watching, or settle indoors to marvel at the bright and airy textured tile work. Though the restaurant is open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., the menu varies based on time of day: In the morning, patrons can enjoy locally roasted Provecho Coffee and shelves of pastries from bakery Hija Del Maiz that sell out early in the day. The consolation prize becomes available at 11 a.m. when diners can order the — excellent — roasted vegetable market sandwich. Carnivores may prefer the generously-piled prime rib with melted provolone and horseradish cream, but both options come served on salty and soft Companion Bakery focaccia. Stay for a cocktail, stay for a full meal — Wildflour has a little bit of everything for everyone." - Keri Bridgwater

White Rice Expands and Evolves Its Modern Filipino Menu | Eater San Diego

Chef Phillip Esteban Opening Wildflour Delicatessen at Liberty Station | Eater San Diego

"I'm describing an ambitious all-day project from chef Phillip Esteban and his hospitality group Open Gym that will encompass a bakery, deli, cocktail bar, and fast-casual dining at Liberty Station. The largest venture yet for Esteban, Wildflour Delicatessen is planned to open this summer in the Arts District’s historic Barracks 19 building, spanning two studio spaces totaling over 4,000-square-feet with a front patio and a back patio that opens onto a courtyard shared with Carruth Cellars. The menu aims for fresh Southern California vibes focused on seafood and expands on relationships forged with local fishermen through the pandemic-born Fish to Families program; dishes range from California rockfish katsu with fried caper remoulade and arugula onion salad to opah pastrami and smoked line-caught mackerel with kelp chili crisp and charred cucumber. There will also be a bakery component featuring breads and pastries created by Hommage Bakehouse’s Justin Gaspar and take-home provisions like housemade jams and spreads, granola, and cured fish, plus a coffee program powered by Provecho! Coffee Co., a full cocktail bar, and a selection of natural wine. In advance of the Liberty Station opening, Esteban and company are previewing the menu with a weekly Thursday residency at LongPlay HiFi in Sherman Heights." - Candice Woo

Absolutely gorgeous and colorful place in Point Loma! Very clean, beautifully decorated, and located in a quiet, pleasant neighborhood — really loved it. The coffee shop’s menu isn’t huge, and I didn’t find a dessert that suited my taste. It also seems like the menu hasn’t been updated recently, which might matter to some people, but it wasn’t a big deal for me. Still a lovely spot overall.

Cool spot for coffee and pastries. Nice bar for mimosas. Latte was rich and flavourful. Execept for the fact that airplanes go over and it almost every 3 to 5 minutes making it very loud and noisy. Great place to visit when in San Diego.

Great place for date night or family night, really incredible ambiance and vibe. The food is great, and the branding is pretty cool - you'll know what I mean when you go. Great mediterranean food with a hearty twist. They just opened up recently. I had the kale salad and chicken, tasted fresh but also flavorful. Sauce was really unique and delicious. My wife and I split the panna cotta at the end, I'm normally not a dessert guy but we decided to splurge... nor do I really write reviews but this place deserved it! Will go again for coffee soon because I hear Provecho is awesome.

Really enjoyed our brunch and the friendly service! We had their Market Omelette and their gigantic French Toast, with Matcha Latte and a Mocha. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. We arrived about an hour before they closed, so we found a table right away. The place is beautiful, and we noticed their bar and dessert display. Just beware Liberty Station is on the flight pathway for airplanes going in and out of the airport, so noise may be an issue for some, but we got used to it very quickly.

Let me start by saying the restaurant itself is absolutely adorable. However, the service here is S-L-O-W. My girlfriends and I went in this morning (a Saturday) around 9:30am. I actually notated to my friends how slow it was in there for a weekend, as SD people are all about weekend breakfast/brunch. With that being said, we ordered a latte and our breakfast. The latte itself probably took about 20 minutes to come out. As for the food, there were 3 of us dining and they all came out at different times. First the pop tart came out about 40 minutes after ordering, we inquired about the other dishes and then the Sweet Potato Hash came out another 20-25 minutes later, but still no third dish… Again we inquired with who I believe was the manager and she told us no other dishes were put in for our table and asked if we still wanted it, uhm yes we all planned to eat. She ended up taking someone else’s order to give to us, as she specifically notated we had been waiting a very long time. All the food was decent, but nothing I’d come back for. I hope they get their service together because this place has potential. But definitely don’t stop by anytime soon if you’re on a time crunch.

Google
Guava French toast $18 The guava sauce was good but there was only a tablespoon of it. Doesn't effect taste but at a technical standpoint the marscapone should've been scooped with a chilled spoon. It looked sad. All these issues are okay at a general price point but at this price point are an issue.

Popped in for a bite and wine not really knowing what to expect. They had a DJ that was playing super fun music, we had a few appetizers and they were incredible. The pork belly was the best pork belly I've ever had. The wine was delicious and everyone was super nice. We are planning on going back for their full dinner service soon. 10/10 would recommend!

I was here for opening day, what a lovely little restaurant. The service was great, our server was Qi. We ordered matcha lattes, the omelette toast and the french toast. The toast was very soft and the texture was wonderful. Overall flavor was fantastic, not overly salty, and the french toast not overly sweet. The outdoor area did need shade and we were burning up, but they’ll be fixing that shortly. It’ll be nice to come back and try other foods. We also liked the overall art and design, cute logo and illustrations.
