Willow Bar Review - Buckhead - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"This outdoor bar in the Kimpton Sylvan in Buckhead is our favorite all-season courtyard. The relaxed, secluded space is a much-appreciated retreat during patio season when every other outdoor space in the city gets swarmed with Aperol spritz drinkers. And in winter, the fenced-in hotel terrace is lined with string lights, so guests can follow stone pathways leading to their private (and heated) dining igloos. But above all, we like that Willow Bar drops the Buckhead pretense. We’re not always in the mood for fancy eats, so we’re thankful for menu comforts like spicy fried chicken sandwiches and grilled cheese sandwiches on thick, pillow-soft bread (mercifully)." - Nina Reeder

Whether you’re a guest of The Sylvan or just looking for a place to grab a light bite & cocktails in the evening or brunch on the weekend, I’d highly recommend spending some time at Willow Bar. It’s a great spot for light eats & botanical forward cocktails before heading over to The Betty for dinner or an after-dinner nightcap around the fire pit in the garden in the evening. Although it’s not being advertised, they offer a fantastic brunch on the weekends (with the same menu as The Betty). Reservations can be made on Open Table. There is both outdoor & covered seating in a laidback garden atmosphere. The food, drinks, & service are fantastic! (Shout out to our favorite server, Summer!) Things to note. Check the hours. As of right now they open at 4pm during the weekdays. The Sylvan is dog-friendly & Willow Bar allows your 4-legged companion to join you out in the garden! If you’re not a guest of the hotel there is paid parking at the valet at The Betty. We paid $5 to park for brunch.

The Willow Bar is a great spot for a date or friends night out. I went on a Thursday night after 7 PM and there weren't a lot of people there which is nice if you want to have a casual conversation or hop between different sides of the lounge. If you are looking to party then maybe try later in the evening or a Saturday night. I ordered a Sangria which was really nice and refreshing. But be warned that drinks are pricey here. My friend ordered the hummus which I tried and enjoyed. Our waiter was really friendly and accommodating. I definitely will go back. Also, remember to explore the other bars located inside the hotel, especially the rooftop bar.

Ultra cute outdoor lounge that puts you in touch with nature. This will be your next favorite hot spot come summer. Located in the Sylvan Hotel this Buckhead gem is set away from rowdy bars but close enough to change your mind if you want to go bar hopping!

Cocktails are amazing, the Niwaki is my favorite. Dog friendly, very neat outdoor area that feels like a little natural oasis in the middle of Buckhead.

We made reservations for the outside section and we had a mostly negative experience. I saw online about sitting in an igloo which sounded great but turns out it's 85 bucks a head so we were left in a very cold table instead. Our server was clearly not ready to open as the manager took over for her almost immediately. My drink was fine but my partner ordered a warm drink that was delivered cold twice. At least they refunded it. Also you have to park across the street which is a bit inconvenient. Left as fast as we could.

Google
The Igloo idea is great, the execution..not so much. The food was just ok... although it's really hors d'oeuvres so don't expect a heavy dinner. The food had to be kept outside and we had to go and grab it. The drinks were terrible, we waited almost 2 hours for a punch and had to send it back. The hot chocolate was more like cold chocolate. The overall experience could be better. Such a nice concept but very poor execution.

Google
WOW, WOW WOW. My mom & I stumbled upon this magical gem and were instantly impressed. Not only is the atmosphere beautiful, but the service was spectacular. Kristopher and Melisa were some of the most wonderful servers I've ever met. They're seriously some of the friendliest most accommodating, kind people I've ever met at a restaurant and maybe anywhere! We were celebrating my Mom's bday and we just felt the love. The food was incredible, fresh & well balanced. It's the perfect place for a girls night or brunch and I can't wait to go back!! I just hope Kristopher & Melisa will be there too because they seriously made our evening unforgettable in the best possible way. Love this place!!!!

Google
Let me start by saying the concept is beautiful. The food was decent, but not my kind of food. The drinks were a bit disappointing; hot chocolate wasn't hot enough and other cocktails were subpar at best. The service could definitely be improved.

Yelp
It pains me to give the Willow Bar at the Kimpton 2 stars simply because we love this hotel and we've dined here several times before and they delivered every time! But this review is specifically on the NYE igloo experience. In short it was very expensive and the food was underwhelming. ($85 a person finger foods and $25 cocktails). The igloo's themselves were magical, such a fun experience to dine in a warm bubble surrounded by pretty lights and holiday decorations. We celebrated New Years Eve at the Kimpton hotel which started with dinner reservations in the igloo. The menu was really tough to find online, but I had read other Yelp reviews that mentioned a three course meal with different options to select from. NYE it was very different. Instead the menu was full of finger foods that the table would share- which would've been great if they were spaced out. The menu include a flatbread, hummus plate, soft pretzels, pork belly fries, charcuterie, and meatballs. There was plenty of food to go around, but they were all served at once. It was all so overwhelming. A major downside was after 15 minutes all of the food was cold, so we didn't get to enjoy the intended textures and flavors of the food itself. I'd recommend spacing out each plate for enjoyment for your guests. Lastly, the roasted marshmallows cocoa espresso cocktail was a fan favorite!

Yelp
Under a night sky, I dined inside an igloo, surrounded by charcuterie galore and good company. The igloo experience is a three course meal, including appetizers, entree, and dessert. Our drinks were served, and I snapped multiple photos of my mezcal and hot cocoa cocktail, topped with perfectly charred marshmallows. I'm a pure sucker for mezcal; this drink was irresistible. We easily finished off a lustrous charcuterie spread of meats and cheeses, olives, and honeycomb. This was served alongside mussels and toast to sponge up the mouthwatering mussel sauce - we couldn't get enough of this and joked that we wanted the bread to be our entire meal! I wasn't as impressed by the cheeseburger I selected as my main course, but once they showed up with the dessert tray, I was once again dazzled. They poured steel cups of Kahlua and hot chocolate onto domes of dark chocolate. We dipped our cookies into the chocolate explosion and discussed New Year's Resolutions to help ward off the caloric guilt. There's nothing better in life than sharing a meal with friends, to connect us and remind us that we need each other. Willow Bar executes an experience worthy of gathering over the table for!

Yelp
This bar is an additional bar/restaurant option in the Kipton Sylvan Hotel in Buckhead. Environmentally, it is VERY cheap in comparison to the rest of the hotel & dining options. In the Willow, the waitress demonstrated her lack of knowledge of the definition Whiskey and its category differences. She didn't know her liquor categories overall. If the establishment has " $$ " / " $$$ " +, they need to demonstrate class, knowledge, diversity or palettes, and complex cocktails. Simply stated: The Willow fell short on LITERALLY ALL FRONTS - NOT WORTH THE PRICE, NOT WORTH THE LIQUOR *cocktails disgusting, AND NOT WORTH THE ENVIORNMENT #cheapAF. I initially wanted to give it 3 stars, but I realized that was only because or the Expected benefit of being in Buckhead - realistically a solid 2-Star.

Yelp
We had family coming from out of town so I booked an igloo because I'd heard great things about this place. We drove across town only to find that it was "closed due to bad weather." It's 69 degrees out in December at 8pm. There was no call or notification telling me the reservation had been canceled. I checked their website and while it says "temporarily closed," it also says it reopens on Dec 26th. This was our second time trying to come. The first time I booked an igloo for my husband and myself for a week ago. I was called and they told me they were canceled due to "bad weather." I think it was drizzling earlier that afternoon. A bummer but I appreciated the notice. I understand that things are difficult right now especially with surges and people being understaffed. But if you're going to close, at least admit the true reason and do the courtesy of notifying those who have tried on multiple occasions to give you their business. Just makes you feel like you're being lied to.

Yelp
Very trendy garden patio in the heart of Buckhead. This is a new establishment that opened up early 2021. I imagine this place will catch on quick: great location, attentive servers, trendy patio, garden lights, fire pit, and excellent drink menu!

Yelp
Willow is the newest bar in Buckhead and I know it's going to become popular very soon. It's on the main floor of the new Sylvan hotel located off E Paces Ferry. There's a covered area as well as a garden space with lots of seating. The cocktails selection is great but food offerings are weak. Their food menu is predominantly vegetarian small bites with the fried chicken picnic basket as the only meat entree. We ordered the picnic basket for our party of 4 though it says it serves 6-8. It was a perfect size for 4 ppl, I would not recommend sharing for more than that. I was surprised at how tasty the fried chicken was. It was super crispy and well seasoned. I only had one drink but I can't wait to go back and try some of their G&T.

Yelp
LOVE it being decorated for the holidays! Absolutely go, get a cheese board, truffle grilled cheese festive drinks and an igloo! & stay the night because, the hotel is cute af!

Yelp
Beautiful garden view bar in the Sylvan hotel! They serve primarily snacks, try the beets and feta. Cocktail menu has a lot of gin and tonic options. Would go back for the ambience and service!

Yelp
I had heard about this place on Instagram but I didn't have an opportunity to go until I found that it had availability via Open Table during a very busy weekend in Atlanta (my bf's family could barely get a hotel anywhere in the city). We were seated immediately, it had a very open floor plan to the outside. Only issue was there was a very loud fan near our table but I'm sure it was helping the place not be so hot and humid. Our waitress was so nice and accommodating. The shareable plates were so nice, very fresh and simple but flavorful. The drinks are really nice. I got the sangria and the cypress g&t which was so floral. We also got the Picnic Basket. The chicken was so good! And the fact that The Betty and St. Julep are all in the same building as Willow Bar makes for a great night without leaving the building!

Yelp
I have had reservations since early November for tonight and they called me and told me they cancelled my reservation due to "private circumstances". When I asked if they will be honoring my reservation at a different time, they told me to go online and figure it out. They are booked through March ..

Yelp
Willow Bar was recommended to me by my friend Arielle. It's such a cute little bar in the heart of Buckhead. The mussels are super delish.! During the winter they have little igloos you can reserve for a more intimate setting. Definitely recommend visiting!

Yelp
Such a gem! I was there with my family and we loved everything, the food, the wine, everything! Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Really lovely bar in Buckhead. Had a great evening with friends. Everything was very pleasant but I just have to comment on the drink prices being just over the top cost wise. I paid for a round of 3 simple shots and left with a $60 tab. The valet parking was nice and easy - very efficient for a hotel and a steal at $5.

Yelp
Gorgeous outdoor setting. It was a rainy eve and the roof was leaking so they were moving people around to avoid problem spots and decided to close early because of weather...which was a bummer...maybe look into fixing the clearly known issue. Plant based menu, which I love, but limited nonetheless. Everything was very tasty but don't go there for a meal of any substance unless u want to order the picnic basket for 4. We had a nice evening but it wasn't what we were hoping for.

Jami H.

Yelp
This outdoor bar is simply gorgeous! Lanterns, trendy and comfortable furniture, a fire pit, and attentive and welcoming wait staff! We showed up after closing (not realizing it closes early on Sundays). Instead of turning us away, the wait staff graciously invited us to enjoy their beautiful outdoor area for as long as we wanted. You will not find service like this at many places. We look forward to going back for cocktails!

Perry C.

Yelp
might be my new favorite bar in buckhead. Lots of plant based options and everything is light and shareable which is great for getting a group together and hanging out. Tons of space and everything is socially distanced. Our server told us everything was designed to sort of share and go with the cocktails which we felt obliged to test. He was right. Great atmosphere and great food. Nice to have a healthier and lighter option for a casual night out with friends.

Natalie J.

Yelp
This bar is gorgeous and such a great atmosphere with amazing drinks, but every single employee is the reason I'm taking the time to write this. They were so accommodating and nice and fun!! Definitely check this place out!!
