Proper dinning place, perfect for breakfast, clean and nice place. Attention is good and food is delicious! thank you for a great start of the day. Menu is also diverse of tasty options.

Probably my go to place for breakfast if I know I want something good and affordable. Simple food with great presentation. Servers are very friendly, even when there's a lot of activity and you can tell they are stressing a bit. Again, food is great. I usually get either the Second City combo or the Breakfast burrito. They also have some vegetarian sausage if you don't want regular meat. Cinnamon Roll French toast is also really good. Decor of restaurant is neat with pictures of the area from decades long past. If you have friends visiting the city definitely bring them here.

Delicious brunch food! We checked in at the front and there was a 15 minute wait, so we spent some time on the patio outside. We were nicely seated in a booth. The menu was extensive, including both sweet and savory items. I got the Brioche French Toast, which was delicious and came with berry compote as well as maple syrup. The portion sizes were great. Would return for a nice Sunday brunch.

What a delicious breakfast and lunch place! Our server, Erin, took great care of us! Water and the kids drinks were there quickly! The food was very delicious and portions were very nicely sized! A big menu with lots of flavorful options for breakfast or lunch and you can be as healthy or unhealthy as you want. The spicy Bloody Mary was excellent! Everything tasted like home cooked! Nothing was prepackaged - all prepared fresh! An easy place to repeat!

Windy City Cafe prepared for me the fluffiest egg-white omelette I’ve had in years (maybe the fluffiest ever). A generous portion, light and delicious, with salmon and chives. Service was very nice, efficient, and accommodating. Would happily dine here again.

Absolutely amazing!!! Still somewhat new to Chicago and live in the suburbs so coming to town doesn’t happen too often, but so far, this has been one of the best breakfast food places my boyfriend and I have had when we do visit town! He got an omelette and I got the southern comfort. Normally I’m hesitant to get biscuits and gravy because it always tastes like the biscuits are from the cans, but these were completely homemade! Their eggs were also delicious. They were so fluffy and tasted so buttery, I didn’t need to put anything on them like I normally do at other places. The waffle fries had a very yummy seasoning on them as well that really made them unique. We were both very impressed and will definitely be becoming back again. We also enjoyed all the old pictures throughout the restaurant of Chicago and that they were playing cartoons on tv instead of the typical football/sports channels. Great environment and great food!

The Malibu Morning omelette is the BEST omelette I have ever had. Fluffy. Tasty. Enough for 2 meals! Great service too.

Just finished dining at Windy City Cafe. I stopped by expecting a quick coffee stop and found it was a full service diner. I was pleasantly surprised and decided to sit in. I was greeted and sat immediately, the staff was incredibly friendly and kind and welcoming. The food came quick and was excellent, I had the chicken and waffles. Their coffee is also very good and I was able to take a fresh cup to go with me when I was finished. If you sit facing the door, you get a nice view of the city. It's been a 90 degree plus week but the inside of the cafe was so comfortable and cool despite the hot temps outside. Overall it was a wonderful experience and I will definitely come back if I'm in the area again

Came here for a farewell brunch with a few friends from camp (SSTP) visiting Chicago. It was a convenient 30 second walk from the Airbnb we were staying at. Overall nice spot, with standard service, and solid food. We ordered the chorizo eggs benedict and some pancakes which was a relatively light meal post-run, smaller portions than expected by the price, and nothing special about the food.

Great breakfast spot right in my neighborhood! Windy City Cafe is such a cute and quaint place and everyone could find something they like on the menu. Service was great, everyone was so nice and attentive. I had the lox plate and it was a great size portion for the price. We also had the Eggs Benedict and Belgium Waffles. All were classic dishes, really nothing fancy but all well done. Excited to return with our fur baby for warmer patio weather!

Hands down the best breakfast around! Right off the Chicago blueline. They take cash and debit. The service was unbelievable and we were offered to go coffees which is always a nice tpuch. We had cinnamon bun French toast. This definitely satisfied my sweet tooth. Made from a cinnamon bun and even came with some icing. The sausage and biscuits were delectable. Biscuits were moist and buttery. The gravy was perfect. Also, we had the pulled pork benedict with potatoes. We shared all the plates because they were too good to keep to one's self.

Nice staff. Comfort food breakfast. Seems like a perfect Saturday morning retreat for me.

Came across this cafe while looking for a brunch place nearby. Wasn't sure how it would be. Pancakes- we got the regular pancakes with maple syrup and strawberries. the pancakes were sooo soft! I don't remember the last time I had this soft of a pancake. Maple syrup added a very nicely sweet flavor to it! Absolutely recommended! Burger and fries- the Veggie burger was quite stuffed. The black bean patty itself was not very great but overall, with other veggies, the burger was very delicious! Their fries were sooo well cooked too!! Loved it! If I was in Chicago for longer, I would have definitely gone here a second time!

Writing an updated review of Windy City. Since I first wrote my review, my love for Windy City has only grown. We come here weekly if possible for weekend bfast bc we love it so much. Since the pandemic began, they set up a nice outdoor eating area, which ppl clearly love, however, I'm more of an indoor dining type of gal. The service here is fantastic. I've yet to have a server who I did not like here. They seem to only hire the best servers in the city. We've also ordered delivery through grubhub many times and it's always correct and on point. We also just discovered that they have their own little parking lot yesterday! We always would just park on Chicago Ave bc they'd have tons of parking available, however, yesterday, they were doing construction so all the streets were closed off, so we randomly discovered their lil parking lot that's behind the restaurant, they have about 8 parking spots back there. The food is always fresh and delicious. My favorite thing to order these days is the huevos rancheros. We also got the pumpkin pancakes yesterday and they were *chef'skiss. Don't sleep on Windy City! You're missing out if you do!

Received the wrong item and ended up paying $14 dollars for a cinnamon roll. Grubhub was not willing to refund the total amount. I ordered a club sandwich with waffle fries and a cinnamon roll. I received a wrap with a pickle. I hate to waste food, but I ended throwing it out. I believe that checking if the item is correct before it is packaged wouldn't be challenging, but the right thing to do.

The restaurant is decent. The French toast is alright. The chicken and waffles were a little bland. The waffle was good, but the chicken needed seasoning. The staff provided excellent service.

Service was amazing; super friendly and accommodating. Prices aren't too bad. Food came out in no time at all and was delicious. Would recommend this place to anyone I know.

I've missed WCC!!!! Haven't been since pre COVID. Service was excellent. Staff was back to normal. The food literally cannot be beat. Farmer's omelette is my FAV. So delicious and fluffy. The B&G also a great addition. Cheese fries...why not. I actually got a Bloody Mary as well. It's not my favorite because I prefer a thicker mix BUT it was actually decent. And a side car of MHL...yes, please. I'm just going to say it...it's my favorite breakfast place in Chicago. I'm glad they worked out some of the kinks that they were struggling with a few years ago. If you haven't been, you should go. It's not a fancy place...just damn good food. Their lunch options are great as well. Reuben is one of my favs.

All ways amazing food Service staff music and cocktails, what more does a person want. It's the kind of place you need that you crave and not once in a while often. It's amazing quality food that's worth every penny.

Nestled within the River West neighborhood at the corner of Chicago & Milwaukee, rests a traditional diner which suits those coming from near and far. Being that this is in my neighborhood, I love the ease of access I have to it - makes for a great Sunday brunch after an eventful weekend, or a nice spot to grab breakfast, brunch, or lunch. The staff are nice, the food and portions are great, and the price is very fair. What's even nicer, is they have expanded their patio area, which goes more seating so the wait times are shorter on the weekends. My recommendation would be for them to add a speaker for the next patio season - someone to curate soft casual brunch vibes wouldn't hurt! (holler at me Windy City!) I've been here many times; a few of my favorites include: Eggs Benedict French Toast Scrambled Eggs City Combo Cinnamon Bagel Pancakes Waffles Home Fries Eggs Benedict is usually my go to order - they have chorizo, corned beef, and even a veggie version, just to name a few. Speaking more to the menu - they offer a wide variety of sandwiches, burgers, scrambles and skillets, and plenty of options to satisfy anyone's sweet tooth. Consistency is their touch here - I can always count on things to take great day in and day out. While it boasts a wonderful neighborhood vibe, it can get loud if you're outside, as it's right by a fairly busy train & bus stop. Parking isn't awesome but isn't bad - you'll need to find a space in the 'hood or look for nearby street parking. None of these are dealbreakers by any means; more FYI. This is more of a "walk to on an nice day or hop on the blue line type of spot." Come as you are for a great meal with loved ones. Or first date coffee. Or post first date breakfast (insert wink face here). Take my word for it. If you're in the area or need to find a convenient spot right off the Chicago Blue Line stop - this is it. So happy we stopped here for brunch on our way out of Chicago! It was a great experience - the food was delicious, everyone was friendly, and we had a great seat by the window to people watch. Definitely will be back.

we stopped in on friday morning to try their breakfast. we both got the breakfast combo with chicken sausage bacon, sourdough toast, pancakes and french toast. everything was amazing and our server was great, we'll definitely be back!

Needed a good hearty breakfast after a early AM workout. This quaint cafe was just a short walk from the gym so it looked to be the best option. Friendly waitress was quick to take our order. I selected The Hangover (large beef patty, eggs, bacon, and cheese sandwiches between to two tasty pancakes) which was more than plenty to eat in itself but also included was a full serving of breakfast potatoes. The potatoes may have been some of the best I've ever tasted. Price tag was $18 for my meal which was worth every penny and had I not been so hungry could have been food enough for two. The service here is soooo amazing and we had a bourbon milkshake cocktail for brunch that was delicious! You have to get it if you go for brunch!

The food is amazing as well as the service. They also get their coffee from Big Shoulders (which is across the street!) and that is always a plus for me. The weather was perfect today so we sat outside.

This was my first meal after hopping off the plane to visit Chicago for a weekend. I ordered the patty melt and it was absolutely delicious. Totally hit the spot after my flight. The two waitresses (I'm so sorry I forgot both of their names) were so friendly! They gave me and my friends so many recommendations for places to eat and visit during our time in the city and were just so welcoming. Highly recommend for the food and service!

Today I just had the BEST Eggs Benedict of my life! Not kidding. They make their own Hollandaise sauce and poached the eggs PERFECTLY. The waiter recommended a tomato slice and we went for it and are so glad we did. I also had a perfect Bloody Mary.wonderful service and top notch food. RECOMMEND.

Stopped here before I headed to Midway to fly back home to Atlanta. I ordered the BLT with Avocado! Wow ! It was huge! It was so good too!

I've been here twice now and the food is good, the prices are reasonable and the friendliness of waitresses are a great. Poached egg was perfect. Bacon was thick and crispy. Whole wheat toast good. I liked the water glasses. I think it made the water taste better. I'll be back to try their lunch.

Cute little spot for brunch if you're in the River West area. Their cheesy hash browns are so simple yet so yummy. I didn't love their benedict but I went back for lunch and had a DELICIOUS grilled cheese. For that grilled cheese I will be returning!

I enjoyed breakfast at WCC! I've been to some of the more central, packed places in town & WCC is just as good without the wait - what's the catch?! It also had more of a hometown feel/vibe which was nice. I ordered the Skirt Steak & Eggs (Three eggs any style with a marinated chargrilled skirt steak - $18). I also upgraded the toast/english muffin to 1 pancake. The portions were incredible - such a good value.The skirt steak was tender and well-cooked. I asked for my eggs poached and they were perfectly poached & no hint of vinegar either! Also, the pancake was HUGE! I'm glad I only went with 1 instead of upgrading to the short stack - whew! It was beautifully fluffy and cooked. Yum. My fiance ordered the A.M. Salad (Arugula, roasted red pepper, avocado, turkey bacon, fresh shaved parmesan, two poached eggs, balsamic vinaigrette - $13.50) which was actually really tasty too! Found this sweet spot while walking the neighborhood. It has indoor and outdoor dining. Very friendly staff. And delicious food that taste like home. Valerie was a pleasure and very attentive. They offer a chicken sausage link so darn good. I am definitely returning!!!

Such a warm and welcoming cafe. Their decor and music is pleasant and fun. The wait staff and management are some of the kindest people ever, they are always enthusiastic, considerate, and skilled at their jobs. The food is absolutely delicious - we've never had a less than spectacular meal here. All in all, you won't regret coming here, it is one of Chicago's finest cafes.

The only male server here is so terrible. He is mean, rude, stand off-ish and blatantly hates his job. Refuses to serve people outside when it's "too hot". Rude to dogs. Never smiles. Really sucks because this place is a hidden gem for all other reasons. Every other employee is sweet as day and the food is really great. Iced coffee is phenomenal. Unfortunate 1 employee can ruin it.

A quick visit to the Windy City, and, of course, we had to check this place out. The parking is limited. We lucked up and was able to get a spot in the restaurant parking lot. We noticed many local patrons walked up. The staff were very helpful and so friendly. And the food is phenomenal! It was gorgeous day, and we were able to eat outside. Overall, yummy (and safe) place to eat!

I've been here three times - one of my go-to brunch spots to just have a nice meal outside with a friend because the food is always reliable, the service is amazing, and there's usually some decent people / puppy watching when my mind wanders. Edgar skillet is great (sorry, I couldn't help from digging in before I took a photo) and so is the huevos rancheros (especially if you add avocado).

I can't believe this is the first time I've been to this brunch spot after living in the neighborhood for the past few years. I was craving pancakes, it was lunch time, and I saw this on the menu. It's was practically calling my name. As I was eating it, I said to my wife "this thing is the stuff dreams are made of..." She looked at my plate and said she's afraid of it. It's a quality, bacon double cheeseburger with an egg on it and two pancakes for a bun. It's a crazy amount of savory with just a touch of sweet and I loved it as they complimented each other so well. You can have your choice of potatoes, and when I found out they had seasoned waffle fries, I died. Actually I should've had an AED with me, but at that point, I officially was in love with Windy City Cafe. Check them out if you're ever in the neighborhood!

Just ordered from here thru uber they sent me the wrong food and when I call nobody answers or they just put me on hold..you dhould check the containers before sending the order and make sure it's the right items. I ordered chicken strips and I got some kind of omelet

It's always a nice surprise when you find a little gem like this one. I was leaving Chicago heading back home and wanted to find a place to grab a bite close to the train to get to the airport. Low and behold this place is right in front of the steps. So prime location to get on the train. The food was just fantastic! And lots of it! I wanted savory and sweet so I got a pancake to go with my eggs. Really well seasoned and like I said the portions were huge. It was way more than I could eat, but it definitely filled me up before getting on a plane. Service was very polite and attentive. The place was very clean and nicely decorated. Two thumbs up! I'd recommend if your in the area and need some good food.

Had outdoor good breakfast at @Windy City Cafe after long time. They serve very good coffee. I had it with amazing fajita skillet and banana French toast with nuts. Both items were yum. I ate double of my appetite. Food was flavorful. Service is good too.

Have not written many reviews, but when I am impressed and can think of it, I will comment. Great place for burgers, but the Cole slaw is the best in America. Liked my lunch so much, I went out of my way to go back for breakfast. Eggs Benedict was perfect. Prices were below what I expected for a major city. One more thing, if you go here in the morning on a weekend, go early. Too many others have found out about this place.

Neat little gem with some yummy treats! We arrived Sunday morning for some recovery breakfast! About a 15-20 minute wait for Party of 5. No worries, they gave us some coffee while we waited. We did have to wait standing outside but the weather was perfect and sun was shining so we didn't mind at all. The parking situation is a little sticky and the actual intersection is confusing for us Suburbanites. We were seated and served quickly. Everyone loved their orders and had plenty leftover! We would definitely return and recommend to others.

Windy City Cafe was our go-to brunch place several years ago. Having recently moved back to the area, we decided to go back and instantly remembered why it was our go-to! This place offers a fresh, delicious breakfast at a reasonable price with great, friendly service. We particularly love the city breakfast! I don't know what they do to the potatoes that come with it, but they're addictive. The chicken sausage is also awesome. A big shout out to our fantastic waitress, Mary! Not only did she do a great job, but she was an absolute delight as a person. We especially noticed how kind she was to elderly ladies at a table nearby and appreciated her even more for that. She made a great breakfast a great experience.

My husband and I had brunch here last weekend for our first time. There was only a 20 minute wait around 12 noon. While waiting, we went across the street to Big Shoulders Coffee (yum) which they also brew at Windy City Cafe. My husband got the Steak Fajitas and I got a build your own scrambled egg dish. We both had enough left over for a second meal. Fair prices. We will be back! We also had fantastic service from our server!

The service is very friendly and the french toast is very good. But we were really surprised at how bland the other food was during this meal. We also tried the patty melt and a cup of the pozole soup...the burger patties were cooked medium well/well (and they are thinner patties, so that made sense), but they were almost completely devoid of flavor. I don't think the patties were even salted before hitting the fryer. Who does that? The waffle fries were tasty so we left most of the sandwich to die while pounding the fries. The pozole was a miss. But the big offender was the biscuits and gravy, which ended up really, really missing for me. I always get B&G if it's on the menu so I was surprised at how poorly this dish played out. The biscuits were shameful; a bit crunchy, a little stale, just not very interesting. The gravy was plentiful, so at least I wasn't in danger of eating a biscuit that didn't have enough gravy to wash it all down...but that gravy had a strange aftertaste that even now, I really can't place. I ate maybe 10% of the dish and pushed it aside. All of this and a soda cost $35 before tip. So, for $40, I'm not sure I will need to go back. If you are a regular, I'm guessing you do a lot of breakfast foods for meals here because the french toast was so perfect. Sadly, nothing else was!

BEST SCRAMBLED EGGS IN CHICAGO PERIOD So fluffy it's ridiculous. I almost don't want eggs from anywhere else. Better than Lou Mitchell's in my opinion. A very good menu with lots of choices, but I highly recommend the scrambled eggs. Omelettes are great as well, because you get the fluffy eggs but some omelette ingredients can take away from the fluffiness. Breakfast sandwich with scrambled eggs is an excellent option. Get it with a tomato wheel and put it on the sandwich with some mayo. Mouth is watering while I type. Buffalo chicken and waffles is a hard combo to find - but they will make your chicken and waffles buffalo style if you ask - and it's awesome. Don't forget to add a side of scrambled eggs :)
