Cool Food Stores Are Bringing Instagram Brands to Neighborhoods | Eater

"A Los Angeles boutique that blends hyperlocal sourcing with select national brands, featuring a glossy tiled facade and European-inspired interiors by designer Adi Goodrich (curved cherry-wood shelving, blue-and-green checkered vinyl floors, warm pendant lighting). Community-oriented in its buying, the shop stocks products from nearby Atwater Village and local restaurants—examples include noodles from a Silver Lake eatery and frozen pizzas from La Morra in West Hollywood—positioning itself as a neighborhood curator that can be replicated in other cities." - Rachel del Valle

Google
This is a delightfully designed, curated market with lots of goodies. They stock cheese, eggs, wine - all the fixings for a fun dinner party or Sunday breakfast.

Google
It’s all about the ✨VIBES✨ baby !! I felt great inside this store because sometimes wine shops can be stuffy or too serious but this one made me smile the entire time. The hand written wine tags made me laugh and I loved seeing local makers’ and restaurants’ products on their shelves. You could really feel the love and good humor from the wine buyer and cashier. A long time ago someone told me that a good film is a film that stays on your mind and keeps you thinking about it. That applies to small businesses as well. Wine and Eggs is a damn good shop and I’m excited to go back soon, and tell my friends about it in the meantime.

Google
I love everything about this store. The selection is incredible, and the people working here are great too. You can really feel the passion in all the details. Just a great vibe all around. Don’t miss a chance to visit Wine and Eggs!

Google
It's like going to a hundred farmer's market stands all at once. What's most impressive is the consistent quality. Everything I bought was mind-blowing. A well-curated selection of top shelf items.

Google
Independent female BIPOC owned store. I only ever buy my eggs here & I love breakfast so…while they’re more expensive than say, Trader Joe’s - they are the MOST delicious and guaranteed fresh eggs in town. Thank you WINE and EGGS!

Google
Changed ownership recently and it’s nice to see the shop have more stock now. It was pretty sad for a while before it changed hands. The new owners seem really friendly and were nice about asking what products we would like to see in the shop, which is a cool gesture. Hope they stick around!

Google
In love with this little shop! I had no reason to go so often during my most recent trip to LA, yet I kept returning and buying things because I simply couldn’t get enough of it! Great wine selection, meticulously curated food, spices, kitchenware, and non-alc beverages. Again, in love. A food enthusiasts’ slice of paradise. Perfect location, too!

Yelp
Under new ownership this year (2024) Came in to check it out because I'm a bit of an explorer. Great little spot. I don't drink wine (I've evolved too much) - so I was impressed by the Liqour choices. Walked away with a few beers (like this pickle beer that I will now forever crave) and some organic snacks. The owners were cool and helpful (even snapped this photo for me). Definitely gonna make this place a regular stop for me and put it on my explorer map. Thank you.

Yelp
I absolutely love this spot. They are so friendly and helpful. Any wine n cheese night isn't finished without a stop here. It's so cute with great ambiance and selection

Yelp
Such a great little shop with so many niche brands. Always so polite here, and everything is very neatly organized. Lots of cute brands and nonalcoholic options. If you're going to someone's house for dinner, can def grab a few things for a hosting gift here.
google avatar

Yelp
Perfect for my wine and spirits needs! The wine selection is really smart, so much better than its neighboring grocery stores, a must for gifts and hosting. Excellent sweets and THE BEST tinned fish!!!

Tomas J.

Yelp
This place used to have all kinds of great beverages. I would come for my favorite snacks and drinks. I have not returned since I get my snacks across the street.
google avatar

Christine P.

Yelp
Overall the shop is cute and love all the assortment of snacks but I specifically came into wine and eggs for some assistance with wine but got zero maybe he was there for the eggs.

Nick D.

Yelp
Cool shop with a great selection of items. They are definitely a little higher than your average grocery price but for convenience sake this shop is the place to go to on like a weeknight when you're looking for inspiration to cook something. I honestly think they could do a lot better choosing employees here. There's this weird non-welcoming attitude happening. It's the type of energy you feel like you're irritating the employees by just merely existing or that they're way too cool to engage with you. Kinda ironic when the shop has a bunch of "inclusive" based stickers and logos.

Yelp
One of those places that poses the question - What does Vons/Ralphs/Trader Joes/Gelsons/Whole Foods not carry and is within walking minutes of my neighborhood? Lots of vegan, specialty, baking supplies, ready-to-eat, ready-to-bake, that sounds interesting, they make chips out of those? kinds of goods. All these wines, and ales, and other drinkable things and most of them are from so small wineries, brewers and suppliers you wouldn't find them at the nearby 55 Degree, or even Silverlake liquors. Those ready-to-bake pizzas are excellent, with a home-starter sourdough and top-shelf cheeses and toppings. Tons of locally-sourced things worth exploring. During COVID, 3 max. inside (and it's the small space across from Boba Loca) and mask up. Otherwise, have fun - and enjoy local and small at its best!

Yelp
A great specialty shop in the heart of Atwater, complete with a mix of fresh produce, baked goods, olive oil and hot sauces, natural wine, spritzers and other aperitifs, and non-alcoholic beverages. I'm literally obsessed with the minimal, funky interior and their collection of trendy products. The staff are knowledgeable and can help you pick out the perfect wine or beverage for any occasion. The wines are all generally priced fairly for a specialty shop. I love pet nats and they carry an entire shelf of them from all over the world! I'm based in Glendale so it's easy enough to get to via car (lots of street parking nearby or on the adjacent streets). I've also taken the 92 bus to get here. Highly recommend if you want to try something new and fresh.

Yelp
Funky little shop that has a cool selection of natural wine, lots of funky labels and brands that you aren't in some of the bigger wine shops like total wine or bevmo. They also have some cool liquors, liquers and also a very interesting array of non-alcoholic beverages for your friends that don't drink or if you're cutting back on alcohol. They also have some random produce and cool snacks and condiments to go with your wine! And yes they sell eggs and cheese. They also have some funky gifts that are good for kids. It's a really insteresting selection of goods in a tiny shop. Great place to stop by before going to the hollywood bowl for a concert or if you just want to have a little picnic or wine time at home.

Yelp
Wine and Eggs is a very cute shop with a stunning yet cozy interior. Great colors! I really enjoyed the wine that was recommended by the sweet person I spoke with earlier today. They had cute hair clips and were super helpful since I really don't know much about wine/grew up drinking it out of a box. The store has a nice vibe and i look forward to trying some of their groceries soon. The fruit looked good! The friendly vibe & offerings kind of reminds me of a v fancy NYC bodega? I like it! Could see myself stopping here with my kids after a Ms. Molly class at A Place to Create this fall.

Yelp
This amazing little local market opened yesterday, and I've been so excited watching them get ready every day as I walk by with my pup. I am so happy to have a little neighborhood spot where I can run to go grab an onion for my soup, a bottle of wine or ice cream for (another) night in, or a cute curated gift like a cutting board or special jar of jam. They're strictly adhering to covid policies (shouldn't everyone be doing this now?!), and no more than three customers inside at a time. Its a small space so I'm relieved it's three at a time. (It used to be the Art Room before). Some of the pricing still isn't up, and I hear the produce (all organic, yay!) will be priced by the pound. It will likely be more than a grocery store, but who wants to drive to a grocery store when I walk around the block to grab some onions or potatoes? Mind you, it won't be able to replace your weekly or monthly "big shopping" but it will do just fine in between. Can't wait to go back today and spend a little more time perusing (there were eager customers waiting outside so I didn't want to be THAT girl taking a hundred pics. )

Yelp
Fantastic new spot that feels as creative as Atwater Village. Also because what more do you need once you have Wine and Eggs? Warm, friendly service? They have that too. Really good selection. Definitely some overlap with Cookbook but definitely different. Lots of delicious-looking food items to try, spices, dried beans, produce, sauces, stocks...this place is a foodie's haven. You could go here and spend 15 minutes looking for inspiration and then finding it in a bag of Zursun Paris Bistro blend beans, currently soaking on my stove for cooking tomorrow. Pipette and Glou Glou magazines (among others) on the wall. And wine...so much good wine! Crystal helped me cop a bottle of wine, a Super Real 2020 UNFILTERED NATURAL ORANGE (not my caps). Will report back...will BE back back, very soon.

Yelp
Pros: Maximum capacity: 3 people (feels safer this way during Covid times), clean, organized marketplace with natural wines, non alcoholic beverages, imported snacks, a small selection of produce (garlic, squash, potatoes) if you need a couple emergency items in a pinch! Cons: Maximum capacity: 3 people (if you don't like waiting, it can take a while), prices are on the higher end. My first visit to Wine + Eggs was a positive one. Got in line around 9:15am and waited about 15 min to enter as they only allow 3 people inside in the store. It's a small community market with specialty snacks, cheese, eggs, wine/beverages, and some home goods. The employees were kind and friendly and the market was well put together. They are now offering Sanditas Organic Rainbow dumplings in their freezer section which is great because I no longer have to order them online and pay a delivery fee, yay! The prices were a bit high but I did appreciate the well curated items in the store. It was enjoyable to see all the trendy snacks and condiments all in one place! Would love to come back next time I'm due for a splurge!!!

Gattina D.

Yelp
This place is an embarrassment. If you want overpriced thotchkes, candies, and other useless items, then come and let them take your money. W&E is a bite on other small businesses that actually have character. This place has nothing a well seasoned traveler can't find with a map. It's insulting the prices of useless items and really poor wine selection... there are better treasures out there, but you have to be willing to do the work. Try covell or milkfarm...places with some idenity.

Yelp
Small deli in Atwater offering artisanal goods, wine and spirits, and produce. They allow three people at a time, so there may be a few minutes wait. I bought a bunch of eucalyptus for $8, which is a decent price compared to some plant shops. Haven't tried their wine or imported goods yet, but I plan on coming back soon!

Yelp
Cutest little shop. Very much so like Cookbook Market, which is my personal favorite. Staff is super nice and ready to help with suggestions. Bubs and Grandma bread on hand and it's the best!
google avatar

Katy N.

Yelp
This place is an absolute GEM. They somehow manage to pack in gorgeous produce, wine, useful home goods and more into the tiniest, most efficient space. Last week Kit (so kind and knowledgeable about the products) helped me find some great hot sauces and wine. They also carry Chainsaw desserts which is a great find! You could bury me in one of the ice box pies... Love Wine and Eggs!

Shane W.

Yelp
...they do not even sell eggs !!! It's the namesake. Hire a chicken for eggs!! A shame. False advertising. And the wine is weak.
google avatar

Erin E.

Yelp
I love this spot and always find exciting new products that become staples at my house. It's also a great place to find unique gifts for the foodie in your life! The staff is super knowledgeable about the products, and have helped me decide on some real gems. I look forward to going here and always end up getting more than I was planning on, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Beautifully curated, 10/10 spot, you won't have a hard time finding something you'll love.

Rhonda P.

Yelp
Cute, friendly neighborhood spot that's like a bougie bodega. Always something tasty, good wines and gifts.

Landon K.

Yelp
Nice-looking selection, inviting, cozy atmosphere, and some handsome & novel products in here to peruse (mushroom jerky? interesting). But there may be smarter ways to spend your dollars. I bought a pack of "Calamares en su Tinta (Squid in its Ink)" pasta by Spiroli. This normal-sized package of pasta had an $8.00 sticker. Returning home, I found my receipt said $22.00. I called the cashiers, they confirmed $22.00 is the correct price. Annoying for an occasional miser like me (I would not have bought this item had I known; and a sourdough bread loaf runs $19 - yikes), but it's not the end of the world. Looking back, a smarter consumer could spend that money at a restaurant or other market (better value) and avoid getting fleeced by such a markup. Why did I go here again? Maybe I'm not a real metropolitan elite after all...

Emily R.

Yelp
Paid $3 (three whole dollars!) for a head of garlic and it's rotten to the core. Was excited to have a new market in the neighborhood and this one is such a disappointment -- wildly overpriced, even by Atwater standards, and the produce is inedible.

Jane T.

Yelp
Lovely selection of staples and cool stuff I've never seen before! Employee was very sweet and helpful.

Priya G.

Yelp
This place selectively enforces their maximum occupancy of 3. Of course they should be enforcing this during covid, but it felt really strange that it was enforced really selectively. While we were waiting in line there were like 8 people inside at certain times. We weren't sure if they were employees or something. But when we entered after 2 customers left, they told us we needed to wait. We looked around and there were like 5 shoppers there. Totally understand the need for max capacity, but why was no one else told this? Felt like a weird and unwelcoming vibe. Wouldn't recommend.

Yelp
An adorable new high end food shop with lots of cool snacks and condiments for gifting... I got some hot sauce/chocolates for a birthday present and my friend loved them! Super excited to return!!
google avatar

Benjamin B.

Yelp
This place is SICK. Got some mushroom salt, crispy chili and a load of fizzy drinks for the ball and chain You gotta love it!
google avatar

Avigail S.

Yelp
Cute store with some great stuff and the gal in it was sweet and I'm all for splurging on farmers market produce, while recognizing that my ability to do so comes from a place of economic privilege. But Toto, these groceries are for the 1%. The prices here are BANAYNAYS. Strawberries for $14. And in case you think that's just the cost of great stuff....they sell dates from bautista family farms (whose khadrawy dates are melt-in-your-mouth amazing when they first hit the season). At Cookbook (another shmancy gentrified grocer 5 mins away), a pint of these dates costs $6.50. At Wine & Eggs? $16. One six. Same dates. Nope. No thanks. Never again. There are gourmet grocers around (Ricks, Cookbook) whose prices are commensurate with very good farmers market produce. This kind of markup is beyond that - it's anti-community and an insult to the majority of Atwater which is still middle class. Please don't just accept this kind of nonchalant mega-inflation of prices. Not cool.

Piper P.

Yelp
Come for the amazing interiors, stay for the wine selection and delicious frozen pizzas.

joel t.

Yelp
We made an impromptu trip to grab some items for a picnic and ended up buying lots more. The place has a great overall look and vibe. Very cool spot.
