Plenty of seats inside. Clean tables. Attentive staff. Sun shine is strong in the afternoon and beams directly inside on everyone fyi🌞 Happy customers of all ages. Great place to eat solo, or with family, friends/ groups, etc. I got the #2 meal which is an Everything Hot Dog w/ fries and drink except for no hot peppers and it was a messy but delicious experience! The price was right. The pickle had a great bite to it- slightly less crispy than my personal preference- but added great flavor overall. I was kinda hungry still after.inate everything lol ... Maybe because all I kept seeing around me were gyros, cheeseburgers, and more. The fries were kind of basic. Oh, and they only have Pepsi products fyi. Lastly, the Oreo and Chocolate shakes were sooo delicious!!!!

Love their fried chicken sandwich ❤️ Everything is made fresh to order. Have had their cheeseburger & cheese fries as well, but keep coming back for the things I haven’t tried on the menu yet.

I love this place!! I highly recommend! I have been coming here for over 30 years and if you want a great chicago hot dog it's a must! They have everything from your standard chilli cheese dog to chicken to gyros. Amazing milkshakes. The staff throughout the years are incredible! They are fast friendly and efficient. The place itself is medium size, always clean and great neighborhood. I absolutely love Wolfy's and there's no better hot dog in the city!

Very fast, to the point. Honestly, the best hot dogs I've had in the city and I've been to all of the best places here. Not that I'm a hot dog enthusiast but you pretty much become one after living here a while and taking your out of town friends to get their obligatory Chicago dog. The hot dogs here are top quality, they're smokey and charred just right. I haven't tried anything else but their mozz sticks and onion rings. Mozz sticks are basic, onion rings are excellent. Very crispy and fried just right. Highly recommend, I'd go out of my way to take guests to get their Chicago hot dog here from now on.

Nice little diner to get great burgers and gyros etc... usually go about twice a month. Very clean I also appreciate they have a dedicated fryer for the fries! I have a mushroom allergy and they have fried mushrooms but that's in a different fryer so I can always enjoy the fries here.

Ordered a burger , tasted sorta like a burger you’d get from a school cafeteria , no taste just sorta a bland meat patty, fries were yummy of course, hot dogs were yummy too. Ordered also a milkshake and it was yummy too. Atmosphere was okay, no music or joy in the air more like come in get your food then leave. Service, workers looked good the older man sorta looked Italian, taking my order was surely not greeting us or others with kindness or wanting to represent the brand in a positive way, he was more like “what do you want”.

I was finally able to visit Wolfy's and wasn't disappointed! Love the classic sign in front of the place. Had a jumbo char dog. It was definitely one of the best Chicago dogs I've ever had.

I love this place since I grew up eating here and come back because the food is amazingg. My friends also love coming here any chance we get and I have a friend who enjoys ordering something different each time and most of the time his experience with anything different has been a 5/5. For anyone who may think only their hot dog would be good. The owner tends to recognize us time-to-time and it feels nice and heart-warming! Considering that they are often busy when we come and maybe come here like once every 3 months or so? To avoid eating too unhealthy. The staff comes off awkward at times even though they always the same people working but you know what I get them. Introvert at heart but got to make that paper, as long as they aren't rude that is good enough for me :) Yes there were rare moments of the food being mid but never bad. The fries are crazy good and I am always craving it because of how well they make it!!! My favorite is the #1 (burger) but the hot dogs are always hitting too. Also the winter time when they have art all over their windows... LOVE IT! Favorite place if I could eat bad all the time without any consequences I would come here more often.

** Classic Food ** ** Iconic Brand ** ** Great Service ** Since I was was a wee little man I'v loved Wolfy's. That iconic sign in the front has always drawn me in. It's been about 15 years since I last visited and let me tell you they did not disappoint. I was treated as though I had been coming for years, that familiar feeling you get when you've been going somewhere every day. They were had a kind of casual way about them like I was a friend, loved it! This kind of service is totally missing now a days. I unfortunately live to far to enjoy them more often but any time I am close, I will be there!

A favorite from my childhood that has thankfully stayed the same. From hotdogs to burgers to gyros, this is one of the best regional fast food in the city. I always get the gyros but opted for a classic burger this visit. You order at the front and service is basic but speedy. Booth seating that is often filled with teens and locals from all walks of life and I love it. So classic, so quintessentially Chicago.

Something about his place. It's been open for decades and still going. It was my favorite place to eat when I was living around the area. Good parking. Reasonable prices and easy public transportation.

A Chicago treasure. Love this place. Been coming here since I was a kid. You can't go wrong with the hotdogs or Italian beef. Very casual environment. Service is always quick.

I always get a craving for hot dogs around those traditional grilling holidays like Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day, and that was the case this year for Independence Day--but I don't have a grill nor will we eat eight hot dogs so it's always a matter of where I'm going to find one. This time it was Wolfy's, which was literally blocks from my home when I lived West Ridge. The place is solid and has been around for over 50 years so it must be doing something right. I got a char dog because boiled or steamed hot dogs aren't really my thing. Chicago style dogs are also not my thing but I got one with onions and celery salt and it was good. The fries were pretty good as well. I'd come back for a hot dog if I was nearby.

Of the 25+ hot dog stands I've tried in Chicago, this is my favorite. Their classic jumbo char dog is perfect and their is no shortage of toppings from the garden. As noted by others their fries are outstanding too. Crispy, salty and very much like McDonald's fries. This place is also your classic Chicago spot - nothing fancy but great service, clean and comfortable.

Super cute place lots of parking Safe part of town Husband and I stopped here before we flew back to San Diego. He had the chili dog at the Polish sausage. It's amazing with the pickles and mustard and grilled onions. The bun is spectacular. You must stop here.

Another day, another dog. I was out on my exercise loop and on my way back, I stopped and had the one hotdog special with fries and a pop. I needed that extra energy so I can get home. Ordered my food and it was out quickly. This place never disappoints. The fixing on the dog was Chicago Style and had plenty of peppers and celery salt. Yum! The fries are almost close to shoestring but not quite. They were hot and crispy. I had to slow down eating them so I can have them with my dog. Love the stained glass and the classic sign that let you know that you're eating a a classic spot.

Maybe it was a bad day at Wolfy's, or maybe being the first ones in the door at opening time isn't a good idea. But the three of us agreed that Wolfy's didn't live up to the hype. Over the years, we've been trying to slowly work our way through as many different Chicago hot dog and/or Italian beef spots as we reasonably can (by "reasonably," I mean one per Chicago visit), and Wolfy's is highly ranked on multiple lists on reputable food sites. And the sign out front--with a big hot dog speared on a grilling fork--is a classic of its kind. The inside, too, has plenty of old-school hot-dog-joint charm, with lots of red-and-white tile and brick. I had the Italian beef (maybe a mistake at a place apparently not renowned for them). The wife had a Maxwell Street Polish, and the brother-in-law had a regular Chicago dog. For each of us, the verdict was that we'd had better elsewhere in town. The Italian beef was massive--no complaints there--but rather dried out and lacking in flavor. (Unfortunately, I can speak to the specific shortcomings of the wife's and brother-in-law's items, although I can say that buns on those dogs were falling apart before they were halfway through them.) Fries were piping hot and solid, though! Service was kinda perfunctory. Maybe that's what you should expect in a Chicago hot dog joint--this isn't fine dining, after all--but we've certainly had some other Chicago hot dog proprietors go out of their way to be super-friendly and welcoming in the past.

Chicago staple! All the goodness of every Vienna Beef sign across Chicagoland. Cool little place. Offers all the staples, fried food, beef, hot dogs, pizza puffs. These folks work really hard to keep the tradition alive and strong! Definitely a must stop when in the neighborhood.

Italian sausage/beef combo with hot peppers was very good. I've had beef with better texture but still very good. The chicago dog was just ok. Neat old school place.

Simply delicious. I was feeling under the weather before visiting and this food made my day. Service was friendly and quick. I got the two hot dog meal, which was a reasonable price, and waited under five minutes for my food even though the restaurant was busy. I decided to eat in, and the tables and floors of the place were clean and well attended to. The hot dog was perfect, loaded with the right seasoning of celery salt and juicy peppers that tasted great with the pickle and relish. The black poppy seed bun was warm and the food was overall very good because of its balance of flavors. The fries tasted fresh and were thin and crispy, similar to McDonald's fries or the ones from J's Corner. Other menu items that customers were eating, like the gyro salad or one of the burgers, looked good as well and I will definitely be back to try some of the other food here.

As classic as a Chicago hot dog place gets. Got the cheeseburger with everything & cheese fries. Was as good as I had hoped. Friendly staff, updated seating area with big windows for natural light. Loved it all!

We live close by. My husband has been here since he was a kid. It was my 2nd time here. They have pretty good basic burgers. My husband likes their cheesy fries. I've had better less artificial (cheese). He got a double cheeseburger meal with cheese fries and I got a single cheeseburger. The total was $21-22.

Excellent food and service in this category. The Italian beef sandwich is among the best I had and meat potions are very generous. I also like the place. Two cops stopped by for dinner at different times while I was there. You know it's a good place in the city when cops come here to have a quick meal.

I've been a loyal customer for years because the food is fantastic, but last night's experience was unacceptable. With 20 minutes left until closing, the staff started sweeping the floors right next to where I was eating--sweeping under my table while I was still trying to enjoy my $20 meal. That's a huge no-no in customer service. It felt rushed and inconsiderate. The food is great, but the service really let me down this time. I know Wolfie's can do better."

I've passed by this place for so many years as a kid and always wanted to go. I went a little before lunch time so there were just two patrons ahead of me. Food came out quick. Hotdogs were delicious and it was a combo for two so it was a good price as well. 2 hot dogs + fries + a drink for $10 Dining area was clean. Staff was nice. No complaints from me other than I wish I had napkins at the table.

Had to try a Chicago style hot dog. Went to Wolfy's. Was NOT disappointed! Delicious and a great price! Very quick style place- so know what you want when you get to the front. We took a second and let people cut in line to keep things moving. It's always a little intimidating, not knowing a menu. But everything was great and staff were kind

A classic Chicago Hot Dog- this is the place- they have steamed or char-grilled with all the trimmings- Just perfect- also a jumbo dog and Polish too. The French Fries were hot and crispy- similar to what you get at McDonald's but better- fresh! They provide ketchup packs for the fries, which is annoying- and it was some off beat brand- also they serve Pepsi here- which is a strike against Wolfy's, I had "Mug" root beer- bad mix this day, Staff was excellent, fast and efficient.

They do the classic Chicago dog incredibly well. And it is one of the best that I have had in the City.

I've only been here once but wow! It was exactly what I was looking for! I got a double cheeseburger special, delicious chicken noodle soup and a wonderfully prepared classic Chicago hot dog. They were super friendly, the place was clean and I have a feeling that everything they serve is on point

Bottom line, hands down . In my humble opinion one of the best places to get a true Chicago hot dog .

That was my first time I eat there at Wolfy's that I had myself a Italian Beef sandwich with hot peppers. I can't wait to eat there again. If you're a Italian Beef and hot dog fan, you'll enjoy eating at Wolfy's.

A great place. There's no more to say. Hot dogs, hamburgers, fries. Love it. And I always see people there that I know.

This is a fun little spot in the north part of Chicago. If the signage doesn't catch your eye and make you want to at least pull in the parking lot for a selfie.... then, well, whatever. I used to live relatively close, but now I am a considerable distance so stopping here basically means "special trip" Wolfy's is one of those "Chicago greasy spoon institutions" I guess. You can get the classic Chicago dog or a variety of other staples like burgers, beefs, and even the cheesesteak has permeated the menu. Quintessential blue-collar food. Might not be a special journey for a regular place to eat. Go at least once to admire the signage, but unless you're close enough to make the trip an acceptable detour, then find a spot closer to where you live. Still, I will stop by once in a while. COVID notes: All employees wear masks and there is no indoor dining. There are marked enter and exit signs. There's not a lot of space inside so by-the-books distancing might be tricky during peak hours, but they seem to otherwise be cognizant of rules put in place.

Was so good I brought my out of town colleagues back. I had to make clear that their asking for Ketchup on their hot dogs was out of my control!

One of my favorite hot dog spots in the city that never disappoints! Stopped in for a couple of dogs and they were great, as usual. They're put together nicely on a steamed poppy bun with mustard, onion, relish, tomato, I omitted the sport pepper and celery salt. I'm not a big fry eater but theirs are the thin slice type, which I prefer. Don't hesitate to stop in!

Damn, I forgot how good this place is. The classic Chicago dog & the cheeseburger rock. With crispy fries . This brings me back to when I would pick up my girl from Mather...

I'm always amazed at the quality of everything at Wolfy's. Somehow they manage to prepare their dogs with beautiful red juicy tomatoes even at this time of year (early March). The pickles are exceptional - today my dog had two large slices on it. Fries are superb. I just noticed today they got rid of their ketchup dispensers and now only have individual packets and also that the food is no longer put on a tray, instead it's given to you in a bag, even if you're eating in.

Always wanted to try Wolfys and finally made it over. I went with the double cheeseburger meal with everything on it included grilled onions. It came with fries and a pepsi. Burger was very good and the fries were fresh. I came in during lunch time and was ready in a timely manner. Took it to go and everything was wrapped up with ketchup and napkins without having to ask. Happy with that service. They have their own parking lot, which is awesome. Will definitely come back!

Great food, clean, friendly and fast. The Italian beef was as good as any I've had. Friends had the gyro and chicken noodle soup, also delicious. Regular neighborhood crowd and city workers, so you know it's gonna be good, no matter what you pick.

Wolfy's is hard to miss -- it's huge replica of a fork with a hotdog -- towers above Peterson St. but the food is what really makes it a can't miss. When you want an all-beef hotdog with a little char, look no further than Wolfy's. That's exactly what I did after work one day when I stopped by. In addition to Wolfy's humongous sign, the eatery is a no frills hot dog and hamburger shack. Beware that you can order ahead but that there is no drive thru. The line for Wolfy's on a Thursday evening was out the door, which was a signal that the food was going to be great! I joined the line and it went fast! I ordered a jumbo char dog and fries. The fries were hot and crispy with a similar taste to McDonald's and the jumbo char dog was perfectly grilled. You also have the option to have it steamed -- but in my humble opinion the char is the way to go! I can't wait to be back!

Don't order a chicken salad don't order a chicken Philly the chicken breast that they used are so incredibly tiny like just doesn't make any sense for the price you pay and that amount of chicken you get. Meanwhile, their cheese fries are very good the cheese sauce itself is very good from what I've heard the burgers are good too, try something else besides their chicken

You can't live in Chicago for very long without starting to be a critic of hotdogs. Next to deep dish pizza, Chicago is the home of the dog. Hell, we even have a baseball team named after them!! So, it's incumbent on any Chicago resident to try more than a few dogs and make some recommendations. But there are some staples you need try no matter what - Portillo's, Devil Dawgs, Clark Street Dogs, Downtown Dogs, The Wiener's Circle, Superdawg... And, of course, Wolfy's. (Yeah, I know, there are others...) Wolfy's is a classic, drive-in style hot dog joint. Of course, they serve a completely classic Chicago dog. But they also have other things, burgers, chicken, etc. The fries rock, the dogs are great, and really everything else is very good. But is it the best Chicago dog? Well, it's damn close. So why am I not giving them 4-5 stars? Well it comes down to everything else. Don't get me wrong, LOVE a good Chicago dog. But not every time. Sometimes I like a different style of dog. And that's where Wolfy's drops down a bit. Their Chicago dog is awesome. But if I want a chili dog, a bacon dog, or some other version, I'm way better off going to Flub a Dub Chubs. Know what you want and you're already 75% of the way there. On the north side, I will always go to Wolfy's. But if I want something different, maybe elsewhere is better.

I've driven past Wolfy's countless times, but today I decided to stop and grab a bite to eat. I got a double cheeseburger with grilled onions and ketchup. The bf got a ribeye steak sandwich. We also got cheese fries and a corn dog to split. The cheeseburger was delicious! A solid, tasty burger with the perfect amount of cheese, grilled onions, and ketchup. The ribeye steak sandwich was also delicious. The corn dog was perfectly crispy. The cheese on the cheese fries was the good kind of "fake" cheese and the fries were golden and perfect. On top of that, the price for everything was a great value for all the food we got. 10/10 would recommend and come back!

I used to love coming here when I was a kid, because it was just a place that seemed to attract a kid's attention. Now that I'm back I still enjoy it, because it's still got that familiarity and halo of nostalgia but on top of that they still make pretty decent food. Hot dogs are good, solid Chicago style dogs and the combo is pretty easy on the wallet. Their Italian beef is probably the best in the neighborhood and I ended up getting their soup once which was solid, Wolfy's is one of those mom and pop Chicago places that does everything and it's ok.

I was in the area and decided to give this place a try. Wolfy's has a great product! The hot dogs, both regular and charred are delicious and is what a Chicago style hot dog is all about! The cheeseburgers are great. I wouldn't get it with everything, not my style, but with just grilled onions and mustard that burger was incredible! I don't really know if I would leave the western suburbs for Wolfy's, but if you are in the area and you see the big neon sign, make sure to... "Stop" by The Spice Girls

Good food but no onion rings. I found the man behind the counter to be a bit "snappy". I wouldn't sit and eat in there as the space is rather small.
