Yelp
K-BBQ Woobling, aka Woobling, is located in the one of the Elements buildings that always manage to confuse me. We found it from the outside along 112th then look for a path inside. It worked. There was a 30 min wait without reservations, which was fine with us. Once we sat down, the service was reasonable. The staff is very busy, seemingly running from one end to the next or pushing carts to deliver the piping hot foods. We learned to flag down a staff as they roared past us for service. The décor is modern Korean with cleanliness and fun murals.
Unlike most others eating KBBQ with meats served on Insta-friendly tiered racks, we opted to not cook our own food. No regrets. The banchan was skimpy with four sad little options. They didn't even have kimchee radish. I wonder if it was a busy night, and they ran out of some options. The overall rating doesn't warrant a full 4 stars. But the staff was pretty cool. I decided to round up.
The Food:
Bulgogi Octopus Hot Pot, $45 - 4 Stars
Menu: Serving size 2 -3. Mushroom, onion, radish, green onion, beef bulgogi, octopus
I don't know what I was expecting with this dish. First, I didn't realize it was a soup. LOL! But it was genuinely flavorful and satisfying on a cold night. The octopus in the center is served raw. A swift dunk in the bubbling broth was just the right amount of cooking. It is a giant pot. I was happy with plenty of leftovers with broth to make more meals.
Korean Fried Chicken Wings, $16 - 4 Stars
Menu: Korean style deep fried chicken wing, salt, pepper, garlic, onion, wheat with original fried
The $16 is a wee high for wings, but I'd be lying if I don't admit it was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Fine, fine, I'll pay $16. These KoFC is making me fat, and I'm liking it far too much!
Korean Seafood Pancake, $22 (L), 3 Stars
Menu: Korean pancake made with squid, mussel, shrimp, green onion, carrot, onion, wheat flour, egg
The seafood pancake didn't taste like it has as many varieties of seafood as the menu says, not even bay shrimps to represent shrimps. The dominant visible seafood is the fake crab shreds, which isn't listed in the menu. The crispiness and chew are good, but I object to the reality vs menu description.
Side note: The Seafood Pancake arrived super late, after I asked about it twice. They either forgot to place the order or they comp'd this dish without our asking. Regardless, it contributed to my decision to round up the rating.
