My friend and I came all the way out here (from West LA & South Bay) to try something different from our usual food scene and we were impressed with nearly everything we ate here.
If you asked me what the highlight was, it was THE SAUCE. For everything. The short rib cappelletti was phenomenal (this dish alone deserves 5 stars) and I would buy this sauce if it was sold in a jar. I can't even describe how savory and mouthwatering it was by far the best sauce, we scraped the plate clean. The ricotta ravioli drenched in Thai green curry and corn was so flavorful - that blob of sauce surprisingly went so well altogether, now I'm inspired to make this at home because the ingredients sound so doable. The wild boar ragu with pappardelle was the best ragu I've had outside of Italy, pasta was perfectly al dente and the creamy red sauce was to die for.
Now the desserts, we couldn't choose between the chocolate matcha cake and the honey polenta cake, so of course, we went with both. I'm a huge matcha fan and wasn't able to taste any matcha at all nor was feeling the chocolate syrup-like taste and texture glossed on top of the slice, but then I poured the SAUCE (or cream?) that came with it over it and wow, that totally changed it up. Amazing. The honey polenta texture was cornbread-like which was good but a little dry, but then we poured that cake's sauce over it was, boom, texture and flavor-altering.
Our server and overall service/reception were very nice and attentive. This place almost got a 5 star rating but I didn't enjoy my earl grey lavender cocktail because the lemon overpowered everything/tasted too much like lemonade and not worth 20 bucks. Food portions could've been a little bigger, we weren't that full until we had the two slices of cake. Overall, its certainly deserving of a 4.5.
