Google
Really good coffee. Friendly service. Blueberry lemon Danish was the best I've ever had and very tasty bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on brioche. Cool neighborhood too.

Google
Searched for carrot cake, Wooden Spoon came up as highly recommended and it was absolutely delicious. Carrot cake isn’t usually my favorite cake, but this was a great cake - a great balance of sweet, spice, and the right cream cheese icing. No raisins, obviously that would be a travesty. Easy to call and place an order a few days in advance. They even inscribed it for me (candles were separate). I was temped by all of their other delicious pastries so I would be back to try them!

Google
We are from out of state, and we stopped in for breakfast and some pastries and everything was fantastic. The brioche buns the breakfast sandwiches come are are subtly sweet and soft, but hold together perfectly and it compliments the savory ingredients so well. The strawberry rhubarb danish was tart and soft and so good. The cherry danish looks like a piece of art and the strawberry nutella crossiant was flaky and perfect. The matcha chai was also perfect. Everyone was so kind and welcoming as well. We are so glad we chose to eat here and we will definitely be back!

Very cute (Boss Lady's words, not mine) bakery/cafe. It's now her favorite in Denver. Once you walk in, the amazing smells of baked goods smacks your face. They have a large assortment of delicious pastries and breakfast items. We ordered some savory offerings this time. An egg, cheese, green chili and bacon danish and a quiche. Both were outrageously delicious. The coffee drinks are just as good. Seating is very limited with one small table and a street facing bar top. The staff are friendly and very helpful. It's our go-to Denver bakery!

Google
This is the best sandwich I have ever had in my entire life. I ducked into this place after an appointment next door, and I am happy to report that this place is a total hidden gem. The menu is insane, baked goods are absolutely gorgeous and plentiful. Do yourself a favor and get lunch here!

Google
The food here is delicious and beautiful. The service has always been warm and prompt. While I sometimes wish there were more space to hang out, I appreciate the takeaway vibes and the sweet atmosphere they've created. Would recommend to any and all. They have delicious Gluten-free options and you can taylor your breakfast or sandwiches any way you like. Love you, Wooden Spoon!

Updated 9/12/24 This spot is one of the greatest hidden gems in the highlands. Jason and his crew have been cranking out incredible bakery, breakfasts, and coffee since before 2016 when I lived just around the corner. The food is amazing (brioche is to die for), and the staff is second to none. Great variety to accommodate many palates. Definitely go here, it's worth it! Previous post: Very friendly staff, the best breakfast sandwiches, and my personal favorite: a daily quiche special that's the best in town.

Google
Staff is very friendly! No inside dining, a few tables set up out front. Had an egg and mozzarella option for breakfast. A few gluten free baked options, but did not try. Lots of baked goods for those without restrictions, I think my friend ordered everything!

Yelp
Loved this place- service was friendly and we were able to snag an outside table. There is limited seating inside and outside; the place is a cute coffee shop vibe. The egg, sausage and cheddar cheese sandwich on brioche was delicious, but the lunch sandwich of the day was literally the best sandwich I've ever eaten. The secret- focaccia bread plus the turkey, tomato, arugula, pesto and mild yellow peppers. The whole combo was dynamite. So glad we went during our visit to Denver. On street parking wasn't hard to find nearby on a Saturday. Also, lots of cool young people and dogs frequent and are in this Highlands neighborhood.

Yelp
This cute little bakery has an assortment of coffees and pastries. The staff are warm and friendly and everything is always fresh. The savory items are especially unique and would be what I would go for first.

Yelp
Amazing pastries, coffee and service. Go early and enjoy sitting outside on a nice day.

Yelp
Had a really great pastry and piping hot tea from here. My one qualm is the place is very small and there's no WiFi, so it's actually not a very good place to study/work. You could read, they have a small bar area by the window and 1 small table with 3 chairs, but that's the extent of seating. That aside - I had the blueberry cream cheese pastry ($5.75) and it was delightful!! Also had the spicy hot chai, which was really good since it was cold and snowy outside. They had some really tasty looking tarts and other pastries too. The server was friendly and helpful! Would come again, but mostly just for the tea/snacks, not to hang around.

Yelp
This was actually the first bakery I ever visited when I first came to Denver and I keep coming back! Pastries are all super delicious and staff is so nice! They have a wide selection of coffee goods - I am not a coffee drinker but my roommate says that it is delicious!

Yelp
Had the pleasure of stopping by the Wooden Spoon on my short visit to Denver and this place is a gem. The staff were all so kind, and the selection of food and baked goods was excellent. I got an iced oat latte (no complaints) a BEC sandwich (delish) and couldn't resist trying the chocolate cruffin (highly recommend). The seating indoors is limited but they do offer some outdoor seating. Overall great experience for my sunny Sunday morning!

Yelp
I stopped in the other day to pick up pastries for my parents as a thank you for keeping my son overnight and once I walked in to their super cute shop and saw all of the yummy-ness behind the counter I couldn't resist buying something's for my household too. So the cruffin- omg wow. The lady who helped me told me they're her favorite, and now they're mine too! It like a chocolate stuffed croissant rolled in cinnamon sugar in the shape of a muffin. So amazing!

Yelp
This cute, tiny bakery/cafe offers breakfast and lunch--mostly takeout. Seating is pretty limited. There are breakfast sandwiches, eggs, quiche, coffee, tea, espresso, and other drinks, lots of lunch sandwiches, and a wide variety of pastries. I am oblivious to all of these tasty items as I am totally obsessed with their scones. I was first introduced to the scones by a friend who discovered this bakery while working in the neighborhood. She would occasionally bring me one as a treat, but was cagy about the source. I finally got the whole story and have been frequenting Wooden Spoon ever since. The scones come in blueberry, raspberry, or blackberry lemon. All are delicious. I developed a deep appreciation for scones when I worked in the UK. These are as delightful as any I have ever tasted. Be aware, this is a tiny shop and very popular. There is usually a long line unless your timing is very fortunate. There's a good online ordering system on the Web site. It's much more convenient to order in advance. You then skip the line, go down the alley on the west side of the building, and ring the bell at the side door. Your order will magically appear. Try to avoid gobbling it all on the way home!

Yelp
One of my favorite coffee shops in Denver, this place is a whole vibe! The ham and cheese croissant was incredible. The service was quick. Definitely a must try!
google avatar

Yelp
Great coffee shop with some good pastry and sandwich options! Indoor seating is limited so I'd probably get it to go next time, especially on a Saturday morning. The staff was friendly and helpful as my friend was deciding what to order and the shop was cute with several items to purchase to go (teas, coffee grounds, etc.).
google avatar

Yelp
The food is absolutely great & very warm when served, they actually take the time to make it & not just warm it up in a microwave or something. The staff is also very friendly & the lady who works the front counter is well aware of the menu & just super polite & friendly in general. 4/5 because there is literally no where to sit, no bathroom option, and gets super crowded so it is hard to wait for your food or sit down & eat, the outside seating is also very limited.
google avatar

Yelp
Food was excellent! I cannot believe how good this place was. It's such a little hidden gem, and there seemed to be many regulars too(which was encouraging). They also sell small jars of honey l, and cute tote bags, behind the door. We decided on two pastries, the key lime pie and a raspberry tart. The tart was very nice, but the mini key lime was definitely the star. If you've ever had key lime pie, throw away how you think it tastes. My dad, who isn't a fan of key lime pie, loved it! We got there a little late, around 11 and most of the pastries were sold out, so make sure to go early. We also tried two of the focaccia sandwiches, the mozzarella and tomato and an egg brioche sandwich. And I can confidently claim that was the best sandwich of my life. The focaccia and hints of basil with fresh tomato left me speechless. If you listen to anything I say, try the mini key lime pie and the focaccia sandwich, they won't disappoint!

Yelp
I was in Denver last week and had the great fortune of staying a few blocks away from Wooden Spoon. On our first morning we tried to go to another popular breakfast place but the wait was too long so we ended up at Wooden Spoon. The universe knew what we needed because I spent the next two days waiting for Wooden Spoon to reopen so I could have some amazing treats. Their savory danishes were tasty and the sweet bun with pralines I had on the first day left me wishing I had picked up more slices! I'm in Houston on another this week and really missing Wooden Spoon.

Ian B.

Yelp
Stopped by here on busy Saturday morning. The pastries were great, but the coffee was surprisingly watery for such a fancy place. Would go back for the food, but might make another stop for the coffee.
google avatar

Dominic S.

Yelp
Loved the gluten free options on the baked goods and super friendly service. Tables outside are a big plus

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop, with a large assortment of pastries, cookies, and breakfast sandwiches/lunch sandwiches! Stopped by based on other yelp reviews, and it did not disappoint! I went in around 1pm and there was no line. Decent prices - ended up paying ~$24 for a 16oz latte with almond milk, cookie, croissant, and breakfast sandwich. Highly recommend and really friendly staff (love the cute touch with my name on the sandwich )
google avatar

Yelp
This place is a total neighborhood gem! The staff was so kind, helpful with suggestions, and prompt. The inside is cozy with the majority of the shop being dedicated to their active baking. They have really good sandwiches that are loaded with flavor. The focaccia was the perfect vessel for the flavors and texture of our sandwiches. We ordered the goat cheese/mushroom and the caprese sandwiches - very large portions so we had yummy left overs. The bakery case had an excellent array of options that not only tasted amazing but also were eye catching. Originally we came here to pick up a pie for a small dinner party however the bakery understandably needs 48 hours notice - instead we ordered several different desserts to share. As an FYI: There is ample outdoor seating, with no (?) / limited seating (due to COVID?). The sandwiches were made promptly and the ingredients all tasted very fresh. I can't wait to head back over for another great latte and to try other things on their menu!

Yelp
Delicious baked goods in the Highlands. They are always busy so go early or order ahead of time. We ordered several breakfast sandwiches which are served on brioche (soft and pillowy) with egg, cheese and choice of meat or vegetables (mushroom, tomato, green Chile) They are so tasty and the ratio of bread to egg to meat and cheese spot on. The sweet and savory pastries are baked to perfection. So many delicious options. Make sure to bring a mask as you're required to wear one inside. The staff is very friendly and it shows in the delicious food offered. I'll have to go back for lunch options.

Kat T.

Yelp
Staff was super courteous and kind!! However I thought the sandwhich I got was somewhat lacking in flavourful, but it was super good looking.
google avatar

Anna B.

Yelp
This place is impressive. They make all their baked good day-of, starting at 1am! And everything is baked to perfection! We split a pain au chocolat, apricot pistachio danish, and we each got a breakfast sandwich. All the bread was light & fluffy, and the pastry was light and crisp at the same time- perfection. Love this little spot! And the staff is super courteous and friendly. Even though there was a wait, they were sure to give us an accurate time- always appreciate that!!

Yelp
Stopped in for some coffee, yummy pastries & breakfast sandwiches late on a Sunday morning. Ordering was a challenge. There were many things that looked tantalizing, and we could have done lunch. Rather, I had a hearty breakfast sandwich of bacon, arugula and tomato. It was outstanding. Husband had a different breakfast sandwich (sorry can't remember exactly), and he raved about his as well. As an added bonus, we sat on chairs in front of the cafe, eating our breakfast, and thoroughly enjoying the people watching in this vibrant community. We'll look forward to returning for lunch!

Yelp
The Wooden Spoon, cafe is a hidden treasure! Their food is delicious, the setting is cozy, & the staff is welcoming. Don't miss out on this cafe!

Yelp
Stopped by in the morning and grabbed a raspberry chocolate danish and it was great! Very fresh, go early and you won't wait too long. Awesome spot, can't wait to try more.

Yelp
Step into this quaint little bakery and feel like you are stepping into a movie. Beautiful pastries, classic brick building appearance, friendly staff. The brioche bun on the breakfast sandies is a little too sweet for me, so it's not my favorite in town. The coffee was OK but not especially strong like I like it. BUT THE CINNAMON ROLL- that'll make up for any other disappointment. It truly is worth any line you may run into when you arrive. Overall this favorite little spot on 32nd is deserving of all the local love it gets.
google avatar

Kelli H.

Yelp
Cute little neighborhood bakery. Stopped in for a few pastries while visiting Denver. Got the cinnamon roll and a croissant. Added some coffee but it wasn't my favorite but I'm more of a hint of sweet in my coffee.

Ryan H.

Yelp
Best chocolate chip cookie everrrr. So ridiculously simple, that it will catch you off guard. Breakfast sandwiches always hit the spot. I just wish they offered something SPICY as a topping for those sandwiches. I always have to bring my own habaneros and chili peppers
google avatar

Charmaine N.

Yelp
-Iced coffee with oat milk -breakfast Sammie (hash browns, bacon, egg, arugula, mushrooms) This place did not disappoint. The drive here was so worth it. Parking wasn't too bad feel free to circle around this posh looking neighborhood if you can't find parking on the street nearby. Takes a bit of time to make the sandwich which only means it's hand crafted "made to order" lol. I would def come here again. Didn't get to try out their sweet treats but def next time for sure.
google avatar

Maddie P.

Yelp
I see why the locals love this quaint lil bakery in the Highlands. The people are so welcoming, even on busy mornings! I went to try the almond croissant because I have a slight obsession. Well - make sure you arrive early because they were already sold out of a lot of pastries. I ended up getting a blueberry scone and a croissant and OMG! I felt like I was in Paris, amazing. They also offer coffees and breakfast sandwiches, which I will need to return for. There isn't any seating, so you'll order takeaway or order online and pick up! I will be back at an earlier time to have more options!
google avatar

Min K.

Yelp
Man, I have been trying to get pastries from this place forever. I will be honest, I am not a morning person and on the times I have tried, they have been sold out. I went a few weekends around 10 am...gone! Not a croissant in sight. I had off on a Tuesday once and proudly walked in there at 9:15am ready to indulge. GONE! Not even a crumb of a croissant was left. The gentleman behind the counter very kindly offered that should I return at 7am the next morning I would be sure to get one. I responded with "Sir, if I was the type of person to wake up at 7am, I would probably be curing cancer or running a marathon and not the sloth that I am trying to get a croissant". Well one morning, I made it. I took a red-eye flight into DIA and arrived at the shop at 7:30am on a Saturday morning, luggage in tow. Lo and behold there was a line outside. So these were the people keeping me from 9:15am croissants, I thought as I gave them some unnoticed side-eye. Who are these people? I was fifth in line when the door opened. I ordered the pain au chocolate and a plain croissant. To be honest, they were good but not amazing. They lacked the butteriness and flakiness that I was so craving. Most disappointing was the chocolate in the pain au chocolate was so minimal and the baton fell in a clump at the bottom that very few bites contained any chocolate. I would be willing to go back as this day may have been a one-off, but I don't know that I am willing to wake up early for the potential of a mediocre pastry.
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome little cafe and bakery in the Highlands area! After taking a fitness class nearby, I could not resist the delicious smell wafting through the Wooden Spoon's doors. At the recommendation of the barista, I went with a blueberry scone. This was one of the most massive scones I have seen in my life -- finishing it all in one sitting was a challenge I was definitely up for. It had a biscuit-y texture, wasn't overly sweet, and was packed with blueberries. The best part of Wooden Spoon is the staff. From the second I walked through the door, multiple people behind the counter looked up, smiled, greeted me, and made me feel incredibly welcome, even though I was just there for a few minutes. Such great people, I'll be back to try more goodies soon, hopefully one of the sticky buns!
google avatar

Julie T.

Yelp
Absolutely love this spot. It's so cute and their gluten free cookies are by far the best. Great place to pop by for breakfast and coffee as well :)
google avatar

Belle L.

Yelp
I am completely and utterly obsessed with Wooden Spoon! My boyfriend and I have become regulars. The staff is so nice and welcoming, knowing us by name now, lol! If you get the chance to try any of their breakfast sandwiches you will NOT be let down. There is usually a wait for the breakfast sandwiches, especially on weekends, so I would recommend calling your order in beforehand. Overall, the bakery, coffee, and breakfast sandwiches are unlike anything I have found in Denver thus far. It is important to mention that this is a pop in, pop out type of bakery, not a lot of seating inside with limited seating outside. Still worth the to go!

h c.

Yelp
I'm giving this 4 stars because it was hands down the best chocolate chip cookie I've ever had, not just in Denver but anywhere (and denver food in general is sub par compared to "anywhere"). I'm also the biggest CCC snob, and most just don't get the job done for me. This one was a QWEEN. Lacey, buttery, crispy and chewy. If you like fluffy, dry CCCs, this isn't for you... and you're basic. However, the almond croissant and the blueberry danish were soooo lackluster, I didn't even finish them. The presentation was very nice, they looked appealing but ended there. Absolutely no layers, no lamination. They tasted like bread in a bad way, not a proper pastry. If I was judging on solely these items, this place would get 1 star but that CCC hit haard. Employees were very nice

Andrea S.

Yelp
This was my second time at Wooden Spoon. I'm combining my ratings for this review since I didn't review several years ago when I first came and that experience was better than today's. Can't honestly remember what I got other than it was some kind of breakfast turnover that was delicious and that's why I knew I wanted to come back today! Today's experience was 50/50. My egg scramble with herby goat cheese, arugula, and red peppers was delightful but a tad small for the price. And my chai tea latte was just ok... too spicy for my liking and left a bit of a unpleasant aftertaste. My husband and I also shared a cinnamon roll since they said it would be a bit of a wait (a good 20 min for my egg scramble and his breakfast sandwich). The cinnamon roll was definitely our least favorite part of the meal. Very doughy/dry and the frosting was just plain not good. It barely looked baked by how pale/yellow it was.
google avatar

Anna N.

Yelp
Best pastries in Denver! We always place an order from here when we have friends in town to have them try the Swiss and Prosciutto croissant. Never disappointed. Best to order online the night before otherwise you'll be ordering from a limited selection. When picking up your order it's in the alley, but they have good signage and a doorbell for quick service.
google avatar

Gen B.

Yelp
We sampled two scones. Disclaimer: when I order a scone, I'm ready for rich, buttery flavor! While I loved the abundant fresh fruit, the scones here were more "bread-y" (read: drier, less flavorful) than other scones I've had. Perhaps we just ordered the wrong things. I'm a big fan of the friendly staff and their organized ordering system, and the other items looked good -- I'm rating based on the overall experience :)
google avatar

Alexia G.

Yelp
First time at the wooden spoon and wow did this place impress! Greeted by happy employees eager to service the neighborhood. Small business owned by a husband and wife with great bakery and breakfast sandwich options. The croissant with Swiss was unreal must try in the highlands!

Eric E.

Yelp
The food and coffee are really great. Only issue is how long the coffees take, they are not cheap and by the time they are served are often not very hot and require heating up. Legit pastries.
google avatar

Elizabeth A.

Yelp
This bakery is amazing! Big selection of items. My recommendation would be to order ahead online. You can then skip the line and go around to the alley and pick up your order immediately. I ordered the night before and picked up Sunday morning. I had a lot of looks from the people in line wondering how I got my order so fast!
google avatar

Lex P.

Yelp
Growing up we would always go to a bakery back home for raspberry scones on the weekend. This is the only other place that I have found to absolutely nail it. Everything is so fresh, texture is perfect, sweet, buttery, delicious. Highly recommend! Only pain is that there can be a line but worth the wait.
google avatar

Neal C.

Yelp
Go here pretty much every week - the breakfast sandwich they make here is the best I've ever had. Brioche bun is super fluffy, eggs and sausage are amazing. Pro tip: I'd order online to pickup if you don't want to wait in line. Definitely wish they'd get back to normal service. Worried they'll never allow indoor seating again - not quite sure why but they still make great sandwiches.

John L.

Yelp
What they have available and serve tastes great. The problem is the limited street parking, the limited dining space, the limited menu choices and availability of items (they run out of things quickly for the day), and Eva y that they're closed on BOTH Mondays AND Tuesdays.
google avatar

Carmen G.

Yelp
Ever since I discovered their breakfast sandwiches I crave this place often. You can tell how good it is by the line out front, so if you visit on a weekend be sure to plan for a bit of a wait. I promise that the wait is so worth it though! Due to COVID, they currently have a table set up at the door so that your order can be taken out front without needing to enter. The pastries are arranged in a beautiful display in the front window and all of it looks delicious! My go-to is the egg sandwich with bacon and cheddar because it is just that good. Each time I've gone the baristas have been super friendly and never too long of a wait for food or drinks.
google avatar

Marian F.

Yelp
This spot is very close to my home and one of my favorites to visit! My doggo loves them too. They are open Wednesday to Sunday. The backed goods are SO delicious with many options to choose from. You can also grab breakfast and lunch here to go as well. I loove their cookies and they are always very nice and professional. I am attaching a picture of my dog with a pup cup on his head. They are dog friendly as well! If you are in the highlands area, definitely stop and check this hidden gem out and go explore downtown Denver with a fresh cup of coffee and some bomb food :)
google avatar

Khaled A.

Yelp
This cafe is super tiny so if you are planning to eat inside you will probably wait. Also using laptop is prohibited (yes you should work from home!). Even though we arrived around 11:30am on a Sunday they still had some baked goods left. We went with the almond croissant which was huge and crunchy on the edges. My only complaint would be for them to increase the almond filling. Here is my rating: Almond croissant: 7.5/10
google avatar

J B.

Yelp
A top-shelf local bakery that hilariously sells out of most of its product by 9am every day. You'll show up first thing in the morning and half the stock will be sold out. Don't let this discourage you, it speaks to how great the operation is. I love their savory turnovers - the mushroom or bacon ones especially. Think croissant pasty, maybe a little bit smaller. I had a cheddar biscuit a few weeks ago that was literally one of the best biscuits I've ever had of any style. They also have great cheese and/or fruit danishes. I could go on and on. The one thing is that they don't exactly have an assigned barista, so the coffee is hit or miss. You can get a cup of coffee, but you're better off walking down the block to Method for a gourmet preparation equal to the food here.
google avatar

Matt L.

Yelp
love their breakfast sandwhich-have been going here maybe since they opened. They are so consistently good!!!
