The 38 Best Restaurants in Milwaukee, Wisconsin | Eater

"Hotter-than-a-pizza-oven take: Milwaukee-style pizza is often underdone, with too much flop, too little crisp, and a pale underside weighed down by too many toppings. Just ask James Durawa, a Green Bay native who ran a food truck in Portland, Oregon, where he was also a disciple of Apizza Scholls. For his first permanent restaurant, he decided to bring long-fermented, all-natural pies to Milwaukee. High-end ingredients meet local cheeses at the corner shop in Washington Heights, where a Forno Bravo gas dome oven cooks at 700-ish degrees, yielding a charred undercarriage in four shades of brown, minimal sag, and toothsome crunch. With studious attention to details (like the cheese-to-toppings ratio) and specials (like bacon atop a blend of mozzarella, fontina, and pecorino Romano), a meal here feels like a delicious lesson in what pizza can be. Know before you go: There aren’t many tables, but if you can snag one, enjoying your pizza right out of the oven is a game-changer." - Todd Lazarski

A west‑side favorite where long‑fermented dough bakes to a chewy, blistered cornicione. OnMilwaukee’s 2025 and 2024 features praise its seasonal specials and dialed‑in balance; Milwaukee Magazine editors call out the sublime sauce. Try the Hot Marmot or Cloud Cap for a Milwaukee‑meets‑Pacific Northwest vibe.

Google
Best crust and best pizza in Milwaukee. Can’t believe I haven’t rated it yet. The couple that owns and runs the place are very friendly and welcoming. They rotate pizza choices throughout the year so when you go will dictate which of the special pizzas are available. Great beer list and always the best background music, too!

Google
Must stop pizza joint! They run different types of pizzas throughout the seasons so it never gets old and the pizzas are always top notch. We definitely couldn't finish it all but it's just as good later as it was with the first bite!

Google
Guys! This is a MUST TRY pizza place. The crust is perfect, chewy on the inside with a crispy outside. The sauce is light and seasoned to perfection. We went with the sausage, mushroom, and onion, but I wish I could've tried them all. This is my new FAVORITE pizza!

I tossed & turned & debated many times over with myself on whether or not I should write this. But if I don’t begin to speak up about what’s going on in our city then who will? This has been on my heart to say since November 2022 I’ve always seen this spot on the way home and the kiddo has always asked me if we can stop in & try the place out. I eventually agreed to do so and we came here with the intent to have a wonderful experience. I was wrong. Completely wrong. For starters, when we stopped by, we were told that basically…they don’t usually do walk-ins and were encouraged for future reference to either schedule online via dinner reservations and/or to call in for dinner reservations which is weird, considering the fact that it’s only a pizza spot; not a 5 star dining restaurant. Anyway, because we were first time guests we were SELECTIVELY seated, which I also found to be disturbingly weird considering the fact that this small pizza establishment was entirely empty. I can’t make this up; literally; only just me & the kiddo during our entire experience there. And speaking of selectively being seated, I was told by a host/greeter/waiter (he was all of these in one) that the table that the kiddo & I had decided to sit at was reserved. Mind you, the table never had a reserved sign on it; nor when the host showed me how to reserve a table for future online dining, when he brought his tablet to the table, was there ever even one table on that tablet shown as being reserved. I knew that he was lying the moment that he opened his mouth to tell me that the table of our choice was reserved. So guess where he seated us?! At the far back, by the window! I was outraged internally of this ridiculousness! It totally blew my mind. The entire time that we were there not a soul walked through those doors. And judging by their weird business hours and whence the time we came & went (an hour or two before closing time) again, I knew that the host was lying to me about anyone coming to dine in for pizza. Nothing but lies. And when I tipped him as we were leaving, he even had the nerve to ask me if I was sure about tipping him well; as if I may be potentially & financially worse off tipping him the way that I did, which completely left me disgusted internally with the entire customer dining experience at this place and with the employee himself. With that being said this place and that experience as an African American gave me prejudice & segregation vibes all around the board. My kiddo & I was starving as we had committed engagements this entire day. To have to come to a pizza spot for crying out loud and to have to experience this is completely unacceptable, disgusting and out of order period!!!! My child and I did not feel valued at this place whatsoever. You can even tell by the owners’ response to customer reviews that they give off complete A-HOLE VIBES. Indefinitely where there’s smoke there is fire indeed at this establishment; especially when it comes to management & staff. The pizza here is NOT even mid at best. Honestly, I’ve tasted better at a typical run-in-pizza spot on the east side. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Lastly, I want to be clear when I say that 🗣️ DIVERSITY IS NOT WELCOMED AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT! IF YOU WANT TO BE TREATED WITH DIGNITY & RESPECT I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NO PERSON OF COLOR SHOULD EAT HERE‼️ ITS PATHETIC & DISGUSTING THAT WE STILL HAVE TO DEAL WITH DOWNRIGHT IGNORANCE! THE FACT THAT WE EVER HAD TO DEAL WITH SUCH FOOLISHNESS LIKE THIS AT ALL IN HISTORY OF MANKIND PERIOD STILL BAFFLES MY MIND! And to the owner of this place…don’t even bother responding with a sarcastic & slick comment the way that you do with other customers because our dining experience was super poor. This matter shouldn’t be taken lightly nor disrespectfully when it comes to equality. I only kept it respectful & professional on my end as always for the sake of my kiddo being in my presence. Had my kiddo not been in my presence this establishment would’ve gotten a piece of my mind; always respectfully on my end.

Some of the best pizzas we have ever had! The service is great, and the pizza is far superior to any others in the near vicinity. This is not tavern style and more closely imitates a napoletana Italian crust. A much needed food style for the neighborhood!

Had a wonderful Family day topped off with 3 pizza's. All were Excellent! Cute little place, get there early to get a table. Service was Excellent!

Google
Still dreaming of this pizza, seriously the best in the Milwaukee area. Make sure to call ahead to reserve a spot or pick up order. They make a finite amount of pizzas a night, which shows just how dedicated they are to the craft. The staff were so nice and welcoming, really had a magical time here and can’t wait to come again.

Google
We just ate there and it was fantastic. If you have time, go there and share a bottle of wine. All aspects of our experience were fantastic. Also take a snickerdoodle ice cream cookie… WOW!

Yelp
I love Wy'east!!! When I lived in the Washington Heights neighborhood we would order take out regularly, and now I'm sad to have to drive across the city to pick up. The service is always great - the owners are lovely people. My favorite pizzas are the Hot Marmot and some of the seasonal specials. I'm also obsessed with the focaccia bread! It's amazing with their balsamic sauce. I haven't actually eaten in the restaurant, but from what I've heard, the pizza tastes even better when eaten in house!

Yelp
Finally decided to come here for dinner after taking this spot off my list due to the "rules" of picking up pizza or placing orders etc... so we never came. So now that we can dine in and place reservations online we finally made it and i am so happy we came! First it's a very small space so reservations are a must and you must specify qty of pizzas ordering ahead of time. Pizza can take a while but its worth it. Order some appetizers and drinks during the wait. You can't substitute their signature pies so you'll have to build your own with only 3 topping options. So we ordered a pizza with roasted mushrooms, sausage and green olives. This pizza made it to my number one spot. Wow was it delicious. The crust was so crispy and those roasted mushrooms were my favorite. I ordered the pear cider (will have again) and my bf had a cherry IPA beer which was super good. Just beware they dont have any canned soda besides sprecher products or la croix. We will be coming back and i definitely will want to try the focaccia bread appetizer. Staff is very attentive and friendly. Thank you for such a wonderful experience at wyeast!

Yelp
I came to Wy'east Pizza after seeing that a few of my classmates had gone to this spot. I was very intrigued by the types of pizza offered. I ordered a glass of IPA and the Diablo Picante with crickets on the side. The pizza is overall pretty good. The candied jalapeños made the pizza a little too sweet for my taste. I think the pizza would've been fine with just plain jalapeños. The pizza came out very hot. The presentation of the pizza was good. I had two very solid cheese pulls when I went for my slices. Service was excellent. Very attentive. The only thing is that the drink menu wasn't the most up-to-date. I was hoping to get one of the beers that ended up not being available. I'll definitely be back to try some other pizzas.

Yelp
The pizza here is amazing. The crust is crispy, the toppings are fresh, the sauce is delicious. I cannot say enough about how much I love this pizza. The restaurant is super cute and you feel at home there! There's a nice patio outside and a few tables for indoor seating. Our service was excellent and we really enjoyed it. This is one of my parents' favorites so I was excited to try, it did not disappoint!

Yelp
Great place, cozy atmosphere. The service was quick. Had a beer while I waited..This is a very small place so call ahead or make reservations if you want to dine in. This place has great wood fired pizza.

Yelp
I'll start with the high points. Incredibly nice people. I think our server was one of the owners. Very unique pizza names and ingredient combinations. Small space and uncluttered but has a definite vibe--call it low key hiking lover hipster? If you want to dine-in, it's reservations only. We made an online reservation about 10 days in advance and had zero issues getting a table. Your reservation is only for 60 mins. Not sure if you get the boot then but we were in and out in about 50 mins. They also had super rad posters for their specialty pizzas available for $5. Yes, we bought one. How could we not? It was drawn by a local artist AND was for the pizza we decided to try. Score! Now, as for the pizza. We didn't like it. Mainly because it was SO greasy. It was dripping in grease and honestly just the upper half of the pizza was enjoyable. Flavors were bold and earthy but the grease took away from it all. Good crust-nice and chewy and you could tell it was fresh. They serve up wood fire pizza here and have specialty pizzas they swap out from time to time. Since we ordered a specialty pizza we could only order a 14" pizza which was a bit too big for two people but not impossible to get through most of it. Drinks like Sprechers root beer is available along with beer and wine. They offer 20% off wines on Wednesday! I think we will be back but before we order definitely will mention that we aren't fans of grease dripping pizza.

Yelp
Love the creative pizza, the charming space, and the friendly service at Wy'East! We've been a few times (always with an online reservation, since the space is so small) and it's always been a delight. Everyone who works there is so kind and its a very casual, cozy place. They have great specials and a nice variety of pizzas. Also, they are right up the road from the Times Cinema, so I highly recommend both for a charming night out.

Yelp
Outstanding pizza and great beer selection highlight this neighborhood gem. Friendly service and great value top it off. They rotate their pizzas so you'll get different flavors throughout the year. Making it always interesting to check them out.

Yelp
This was a great little pizza place. We sat on the patio which was very quaint. They also had a small dining area inside which was cute too. Our waiter was very attentive and made sure we had what we needed. Most importantly the pizza was awesome. The crust was a perfect thickness and the pizza was cut in slices which is critical for a good pie. We had the Hot Marmot which was wonderful. The sauce was great and there was a good amount of pepperoni on the pizza. Also, there was a little bit of a kick from the pizza due to the sweet hot peppers. Finally, for a small pizza place Wy'East had a great variety of beers to enjoy with our pizza. We had a very enjoyable meal and I would recommend Wy'East to anyone looking for a great pizza with a good beer.

Yelp
A review for this restaurant from me is long overdue as Wy'east is a staple in our take out rotation. Having grown up in Chicago, pizza for me always meant either thin tavern style pizza cut into neat squares or the occasional foray into deep dish pizza. Living in Milwaukee, there were plenty of similar options to occupy my interests. And then Wy'east turned it all upside down. My best description of pizza from Wy'east is a brick oven Neapolitan-esque pizza...but better. The pizzas are larger than traditional Neapolitan pizzas and one can easily feed two, probably three people. The dough is excellent and doesn't limply flop like many Neapolitan pizzas do under the weight of toppings. And leftovers the next days are heavenly after a couple minutes in an air fryer. Both the white and red pizzas are superb here, and the cheese actually sticks to the dough (one of the shortcomings of tavern style pizza). The hot marmot is a regular go to, and the Orion/Milky Way which is a seasonal white pizza is absolutely amazing. Easily one of the best pizza places I've tried in the MKE area! Make sure to order per instructions on the website!

Yelp
Having recently moved to Milwaukee from the Pacific Northwest, we had to try this place based on the name alone. (IYKYK) Was a total bonus that their pizza was delicious, service impeccable, and records displayed on the walls indicate an equally impeccable taste in music. But back to the pizza... perfect thin crispy yet tender crust, good quality toppings, and a great spicy kick on the Hot Marmot. We'll be back for sure!

Yelp
I've worked minutes from Wy'east Pizza for more than four years, but only recently stopped for the first time. I carried out a Cape Blanco pizza which has olive oil, ricotta, mozzarella, pecorino, herbs, fresh garlic, cracked pepper, and sausage. As you can see in the picture I provided, they don't skimp on the ricotta or sausage. Other than the few parts of crust that were charred a bit more than I prefer, I thought the pizza was great and would gladly have it again if someone else is buying. I say "if someone else is buying" because the pizza is pricey at $21 before tax and tip. I get it; they are a non-chain restaurant and need to complete against more convenient and/or prevalent chain restaurants and I don't fault them for that. To me, though, this is a once-in-a-great-while pizza as compared to a regular occurrence simply due to the cost.
google avatar

Jen J.

Yelp
Pizza was amazinggggg. We got the cape blanco and it was one of the best pizzas I had. The crust was amazing. Our waitress was very friendly and we were able to sit outside which was nice! It is on a busy road so it was kinda loud on the patio but good to enjoy the sun. I wouldn't recommend getting their salads as they are kind of small and aren't really special but it was good. Would stick with just the pizza.

Yelp
We four were not in the best of moods when we walked into Wy'east Pizza. Our original restaurant destination had closed the day before, without notice, which we realized when we arrived at its door. This first visit to Wy'east Pizza improved our moods quickly. Not knowing our sour attitudes, the co-owner welcomed us as if we were regular customers. Her positive attitude and service continued throughout our meal. Had salads and garlic toast. The pizzas we ordered had the usual toppings but much better crusts than usual and were served quickly from the ceramic oven. Though limited to three toppings, we were not disappointed with either taste or texture. Small and unpretentious, Wy'east Pizza gave us an opportunity for an un-rushed visit over a very good meal.

Yelp
Super cool place. We just moved to MKE, and a friend said we HAD to go here because they have the best pizza. We love pizza, and when someone tells us the pizza is THAT good, we listen. IMPORTANT to know - tiny word fired oven - you've got to reserve a space for your pie - dine in or to go. We were lucky to find a spot. Reservations are for one hour only, We booked 4 pizzas for 6 people. That was too much pizza, we wanted leftovers, I'm not sorry. It was really good. The location is easy to find, Good signage, tiny parking lot, small dining room, very clean. Staff are super friendly. A few people dining at the same time seemed to be regulars. I think our server was one of the owners - she had food and drinks ready to go when another table arrived - so they must come in a lot! We studied the menu ahead of time so we would not waste table time ordering. We also tried 2 salads - house and arugula, garlic bread. The dipping sauce for the bread was great. We good basic cheese and 1 pepperoni (kids, so boring), and tried ring of fire and 3 sisters. Super fast service. The crust is amazing. Nice chew, char, doughiness. Not too thick and not too thin. I'd concur with another reviewer who said its a bit on the greasy side. Nothing a few napkins can't fix, if that kind of thing bothers you... I could do with 50% less cheese on the pizza, but I am not a huge cheese person (sorry Wisconsin, please don't disown me.) Maybe more vegan or cheese-less pie options (same pie, no cheese for a discount?) Also, I didn't see it, but I'd LOVE if they sold their dough?! It's not the same without the wood fired crisp, but the dough its like... amazing. So, so good. Cook it a freeze it and sell it to bake later? There's got to be a way to get people more of this pizza? Anyway, I digress. The Sprecker's sodas were a nice touch too. Cool owners, nice ambiance, great pizza, the crust - I have been dreaming of. We will be back (if we can get in!)
google avatar

Yelp
The crust had a very sour taste. The homemade focaccia was tasty! Pizzas come standard with only 3 toppings. You can substitute but not add.
google avatar

Yelp
These guys have sustained us with incredible pizza through the pandemic and beyond. Our favorite is the ring of fire. Bacon, honey, peppers...amazing!! We've even taken their pizzas camping in Madeline Island if that tells you anything.
google avatar

Kyle H.

Yelp
We've been trying to spread the carryout love during the Pandemic, and the stars finally aligned to enjoy a pickup pizza from Wy'east. Wy'east is only taking phone orders from11:30 - 3:30pm the day before or day of pickup. Blondie's "Don't Leave Me Hangin' on the Telephone" comes to mind, as it has sometimes been difficult to connect with a busy businesses with limited ordering options. Online ordering flexibility is always appreciated. But if you do connect, it's well worth the effort. Contactless pickup was a breeze! Our seasonal pizza was fabulous! That cheese blend! SASQUASH roasted delicata squash, chopped walnuts, herbs, blend of buttermilk blue cheese, mozzarella, and pecorino romano cheeses We previously enjoyed the Hot Marmot pizza with Mama Lil's sweet hot peppers. Support your locals during the Pandemic!

Yelp
Our feeling after eating here is just like one of the previous reviewers: why didn't we try this place sooner? This is definitely a tosa pizza gem. Hubby and I heard a lot of good comments about this restaurant so we decided to check it out on National Pizza Day. It was a cold and super snowy Sunday evening. We were welcomed by three warm smiley faces behind the counter as we walked in. Compact, clean, cozy restaurant with warm-toned lighting and lovely pizza aroma. We already felt good about the place. After sitting down, we could not make a decision on whether to have the Hot Marmot or the Sunday special Ring of Fire. Then we were told that the Ring of Fire pizzas were sold out already (they open at 3:30 but it was just 6:00pm at that time!) because of lots of take-out orders. We went for The Hot Marmot and had no regret at all. It looked huge in size, but should be enough for 1 hungry guy, or 2 normal diners, or 3 people who are not that hungry. Thin, airy, slightly flaky and chewy crust. A good amount of toppings. The soul is that delicious, juicy, and slightly sour Mama Lil's sweet hot peppers. The garlic is not overpowering. The pepperoni is not too heavy or too much - everything's just perfect. We will go back soon! For the Ring of Fire, we will make sure that we order early lol.

Yelp
Amazing pizza! Take out is supeer popular here. The inside is small. Had it been busy, we definitely would have had to wait for a table. Nice selection I if beers available, including nearby brewery,, Vennture! We ordered the Yeti pizza which was a special that week. The pizza was delicious! Incredibly filling and we had leftovers. They have a beautiful brick pizza oven. Tip: what appears to be a parking lot, really only holds like two spots so do not bank on parking there. I'd go back for sure!
google avatar

Scott B.

Yelp
I've lived on both coasts and this is the best pizza I have ever had. I definitely recommend getting their seasonal specials which are based on what ingredients are fresh and in season (Lost Leek, Yeti Tracks, Diablo Picante, Orion...so good...). The staff is so friendly and welcoming. The beers on tap are always excellent. I don't know what else to say other than to say how lucky Wauwatosa is to have such a transcendent gem of a pizza spot.

Yelp
WOOD FIRED DELICIOUSNESS!! We picked up curbside here and it was fantastic. We started with the house salad and the green goddess dressing was super good! Creamy and full of fresh herbs! We had a white sauce pizza Cape Blanco and it was fantastic. Perfect amount of wood fired crust with big pieces of sausage. Took me back to Italy! Can't wait to come back soon!

Yelp
It's been 3+ years since Wy'east opened and they still march to their own drum. They said, the Nister and I have grown to appreciate this quirky, delicious local pizza spot. If you go, know that they've got some rules you might be surprised by - like no subs on some of the pies, or no more than one meat on a pizza. Persevere - if you are a person that appreciates a quality crust you won't find a better one in the city! Pizzas come in one size and easily serve 2 people / prices are in the $16-22 range. If you love a quality bread product, start with their homemade focaccia which is homemade perfection. It's soft, chewy and so delicious - one of the staffers said he liked to take it home to use for French toast! Speaking of staff, they're super kind and friendly. It's a very neighborhood place with most patrons walking up for a delicious dinner. They seem to have their flow down in terms of production and definitely take phone orders now. Wine and beer are available to complement your perfect pizza. Wy'east does it their way for sure but they bring the quality so I'm not mad. Stop by to check them out!

Yelp
Unbelievable pizza! Comfortable, cute atmosphere and great service. This is our favorite pizza place in all of Milwaukee.
google avatar

Linda W.

Yelp
So good! Friendly staff, indoor and outdoor seating, good wines...but the star of the show is the pizza! Got the "Pig" special with ham and spicy pineapple salsa which was delicious. Also got a Margarita just to have balance. Also equally yummy. The crust is a bit dense, but nice texture. My husband and teenage son and I ordered two pizzas as recommended by the waiter, that was just right and he said we would have a few slices to take home which we did. Devoured my teenage son the next day for lunch :-)
google avatar

Andrew M.

Yelp
They have improved their ordering service. We now have called and ordered a handful of times w/o going to voicemail or something else getting in the way. Pizza is very good.
google avatar

Nutria Y.

Yelp
Great for take out. Must call to order and they can reach max capacity and not take last minute/same day orders if they are busy. In person dining is just ok due to small space filled with plastic partitions. Last I checked they were charging $20 to reserve tables too. Good customer service.

Yelp
Hi, this is Dominic the food reviewer. Today I tried a restaurant called Wy'east Pizza. It is located on 5601 W. Vliet St, Milwaukee, WI 53208. They are open Tues-Thur 4:30-8:30pm, Fri and Sat 4:30-9pm, and Sunday 3:30-8pm. During this review, James Groh from TMJ4 news joined me and will be doing a story on my review. I will link the story when it comes out on my page. I had so much fun doing this review with James. I met the owners of Wy'east, Ann and James. They were very friendly and nice. They are originally from Wisconsin, and lived in Portland Oregon for many years. James wanted to learn to make his own pizzas, so they started a food truck in Portland Oregon that they ran for 4 years. They moved back to Milwaukee, where they opened Wy'east Pizza in May 2016. It's located where Boy Blue Ice Cream used to be on Vliet St. Wy'east is the native name for Mount Hood in Portland Oregon. I thought the decor was decorated kind of like a Mountain Lodge. It was very modern and clean inside. This is a counter service place. You order at the counter, then you can sit down, and they bring your pizza to the table. It is a small place with 8 or so tables. You can also get your pizza carry-out. They have pizza that is a cross between New York style and Neapolitan style Pizza. The most popular pizza there was the Hot Marmot. Which has Pepperoni, Fresh Garlic, & Sweet Hot Peppers. Their Appetizer they're known for is the Sour Dough Focaccia with Balsamic Dip. The Pizza is cooked in a very cool Gas Fired Domed Italian Pizza oven. I tried the Hot Marmot pizza and the Focaccia. I thought my pizza had a nice kick to it. It had a delicious flavor. My Sour Dough Focaccia was fresh tasting and appetizing. This is Dominic the food reviewer. I would recommend this restaurant because the Pizzas there are very delicious, and the owners and staff were so nice. Stay tuned for more updates on my review very soon.

Yelp
Yum! Finally came here after living in the neighborhood for 3 years and DEFINITELY will be back soon. Amazing crust- crunchy yet chewy at the same time and a great variety of toppings. Personally we went with the cape blanco and were really pleased with the topping to sauce/crust ratio. Nice beer menu too. Service was nice and food came out super quick. One of the top pizza joints in Milwaukee for sure- can't wait to come back.

Yelp
WY didn't I try this place sooner?!? The pizzas are phenomenal! Maybe the best I've ever had! We had the Loowit and the Zig-Zag and argued for 10 minutes over which one was best before settling on on a tie. I am not a crust lover, typically I leave them on the side of my plate as a reminder of how many pieces I've eaten. However, this crust was soft and airy like a freshly baked loaf of bread, I was tempted to put some butter on it like a soft bread stick. Highly recommend! We had take out but the place looks clean and cozy.

Yelp
I have been wanting to try Wy'east for a while now, and finally got to pop in last night with a friend. It's a very small dining room, about 5-7 tables. There is a front counter where you place all orders, drinks/pizza/apps/desserts. I ordered some wine and sat down to wait. Soon after I ordered olives - excited to munch on something. These olives were straight out of the Costco jar. I know this because the restaurant I work at uses the same exact olives and that's what they look and taste like out of the jar. I was surprised they didn't do a single thing to them, no oil, no garlic, no herbs... just plan dry olives. We ate a couple and then just pushed them to the side. Their menu has several pre-built reds and two pre-built whites. They had the option to BYO pizza as well, but very limited toppings, and they set a rule that only one meat was allowed per pizza. We decided to go with their best seller, the Hot Marmot (pepperoni, garlic, sweet peppers) and the highly recommended Cape Blanco (garlic, sausage, and pepper). They both came over very quickly - probably because during a couple take out orders being picked up, we were the only people in the restaurant. I tried the Hot Marmot first and thought it was awesome. I was hoping it'd actually have some kick to it, but it was really just a pepperoni pizza with some sport peppers that were not hot. Also this was SUPER greasy. However, hot or not this was delicious! Next I tried the Cape Blanco, much less impressed. It was tasty, but for essentially being a sausage pizza it really needed something to kick it up with a punch of flavor - maybe even something as simple as some fresh rosemary or basil. Just was a pretty flat taste. On both pizzas the crust was awesome. I love the chewy, sometimes charred flavor of this kind of pizzas. I devoured every bite. On my way out I grabbed one of their purple door ice cream sandwiches to take home. It's about 1.5 inches across and $3.25 - which I found expensive. The brings me to a problem - I think they are way overpriced. All pizzas are 14" and they seem to consider items like "pepper" and "garlic" as large components - and charge for them. We paid $21 for a 14" sausage pizza. We paid $22 for a 14" pepperoni and a couple peppers pizza. Just adds up very quickly. I would come back, but not in a hurry. I liked the Hot Marmot a lot and the wine was good, but I think it was just to spendy for what it was, and I was really disappointed with how lazy serving those olives was.

Yelp
I adore this spot. When I first moved to Milwaukee (a year ago), I lived in Washington Heights for a couple months. It was my supreme luck that my airbnb was about a three minute walk from Wy'east Pizza. They make a killer margharita, but my go-to has become their white pies. Their white pies all come with an olive oil base topped with herbs, shredded mozzarella, ricotta, and pecorino cheeses. They then differ by the additional toppings. One of my all time faves is their cloud cap, which comes with fresh mushroom, garlic, and rosemary. My other favorite is their cape blanco which comes topped with sausage, garlic, and cracked pepper. Even better, I get their cloud cap with sausage added (omg. delectable!). They have a small dining room for dining in, or, of course you can do takeout. Oh! And, in warmer months, they have outdoor seating as well. They typically have four local craft beers on tap (nice!) in addition to a decent bottle selection. I've heard, due to the thinness of the crust, they have some topping limitations, so if you like your pie loaded-this might not be the spot for you. Fortunately, I am more than happy with their specialty pies as is (with the occasional addition of sausage, which they have always been able to do for me). So, it is most definitely the spot for me. Get to it!

Yelp
Wy'east has lots of great options for vegetarians. We got the seasonal special, Mattercorn, which was delicious, and the Hot Marmot, which was even better. I shared with my boyfriend and I'm glad we ordered two pizzas and had leftovers because one might not have been enough for our big appetites without a side dish. I truly appreciate the many precautions the owners are taking for COVID-19. There was no indoor dining, masks are required at all times during pickup, and they ask that you call when you arrive and have your trunk or car door open so they can place it in your car. It was truly contactless. One of the best ways I've seen a restaurant handle COVID. It took us a few tries to call and place an order because they were very busy but it was worth it!

Yelp
I wish we lived locally!!!! We visited friends and decided to get pizza. My goodness, am I glad we made that choice. The food was amazing! They had two "seasonal" pizzas that were unique (Ring of Fire & Sasquatch) so we had to try them based on a customer who was outside recommendation. Both had novel combinations of ingredients that somehow made a perfect pizza. We also ordered the margarita pizza, and the basil tasted like it was picked just before serving. Same goes for the arugula salad! Doesn't have much in the looks department from the curb, however what pizza place should???? Highly recommend! Also, we were sat outside by James, who we later found out was the owner. He was very nice, had us laughing from great stories about the business, and checked in after each dish served to sure it met our liking. To sum up our experience, when we got back when our friend got out of the car he said "that was very satisfying."

Yelp
Oh good lord. I don't know why this is, but the two best pizzas I have ever had have had their roots in the Western United States. This is number two! (Number one being a place in Hot Springs, SD.) My friend and I ordered the summer seasonal special, which had sopresatta and olives on it. HOLY CRAP IT WAS GOOD. Their crust is crispy on the outside and has a nice chewy give to it. It manages to be thin enough to not over-fill you while still remaining structural enough to support the incredible cheese and toppings. Fantastic! Really nice owners and beautiful decor as well as a nice patio. Check this out!

Yelp
I love this pizza but the complicated and draconian rules are a crazy turn-off, especially in these days of easing social restrictions. I just want a pizza and a chair, one for me and one for my friend "Reservations will be taken up until 4:30pm for that day as available. When making a reservation, you will be asked to tell us how many pizzas you plan on ordering so that we can plan for both to go and patio customers. All reservations have a $10/ person deposit. The deposit will be applied to your bill. A no-show forfeits the deposit, no exceptions. In addition, a $1.50 service fee is applied to each reservation. Cancellations must be 24 hours in advance, or the deposit will be forfeited. You must cancel thru Tock, do not call to cancel. Parties should be complete at the time of seating, if a party is 15 minutes late that will be considered a last minute cancellation.... All guests must arrive on time and wait in their cars offsite until you receive the text that your table is ready. If your group is 15 minutes late, the table will be released and you will forfeit your deposit." OK fine, thank you for looking out for my health but this is more cognitive overhead than dining out should demand... and I'll be damned if I'll pay my bill in advance. ------------------------------ My last take out order... I got what I wanted and the pizza was awesome but I has to call over and over to get a person to take my order.

Yelp
This is a cozy corner restaurant on Vliet where a pizza easily feeds 1-3 people. They have dine-in and carryout, and this past Saturday we went for the first time to eat there. They have a good variety of pizza, including some vegetarian ones, and yes, a vegan one. To accompany your meal, they offer a good array of beverages including beer on tap. I'd advise saving room for dessert as the pear and ricotta one hits the spot after enjoying a pizza pie. Bathrooms are clean and gender-neutral. On the 33 and 31 bus lines. Nice place for a casual dinner.

Yelp
So far, the best pizza that I have had in Milwaukee. I have only ever ordered for takeout, but every time has been a great experience. The staff are friendly and helpful. As for the pizza, I feel the quality is best explained with a break-down of the different components. The scale is 1 - 10, 1 = worst, 10 = best. Pizza Breakdown: Crust: 7 Sauce: 10 cheese: 8 In my opinion, the margherita pizza is akin to the vanilla ice cream at an ice cream parlor or the pilsner at a brewery. It is a simple dish, but speaks volumes to the overall quality of the establishment. It is benchmark pizza, if you will, and I can confidently say that Wy'east has a top three margherita pizza in the Milwaukee metro area. Overall, one of my favorite Milwaukee establishments. It is clear that a lot of time and effort goes into each pizza. I cannot recommend Wy'east Pizza enough!

Yelp
Really delicious pizza! I got the cloud cap which was an incredible vegetarian option. Super cheesy, really nice crust, and the garlic... yum!!!! I will definitely be back for more! The quarantine pick up and order was very well explained on their website. Call the day before you want your pizza!!

Yelp
Folks often ask me, "What's the best pizza in Milwaukee?" and I usually struggle to find the answer. My favorite pizza joints closed down at least five years ago. (Pete's on Capitol Drive, you are sorely missed. I enjoyed your 'za for nearly 45 years!) Struggle no more, the best pizza in Milwaukee is at Wy'east Pizza. Thin, freshly made dough layered with farm-to-table fresh ingredients and served piping hot out of an 800-degree oven, someone pinch me. On second thought, if this is a dream, I don't want to be woke. Wy'east's food is what pizza dreams are made of. I also dig their collection of local craft beers. Because, I mean, what goes better with hot pizza than cold beer? Not much, in my humble opinion. I'll admit, the restaurant is a little quirky, but it's a great improvement to the dank, questionable business that used to run out of this building. And everybody's got to start somewhere. I suspect with their growing success, another, or an alternative location, will open soon. This is just a hunch because the small, 26-seat (approx.) is often at capacity. So until that happens, whenever I am asked my opinion on Milwaukee's best pizza, the answer, unequivocally, is at Wy'east at 5601 W. Vliet Street.

Yelp
I was so excited to try Wy'east pizza. I had been hearing about it for months and months. We finally found a night for some pick up and picked out two and anxiously drove them home. It was pretty good, decent flavor but not the most flavor. The crust was good, but also kind of hard to eat. For the price and the hype I was pretty let down. After an hour all of us felt like the sodium had to be through the roof and couldn't get enough water to satisfy how bloated and dry our moths felt.

Yelp
We went here because we won some gift certificates in a silent auction. We're always excited about opportunities to try something out of our zone closer to downtown/east side Milwaukee! The first time we went here, it was a Friday around 8pm. We got turned away because they were out of dough. We ended up going to a really lovey French place nearby and had a great time with our friends despite the issue with WyEast. Fast forward a couple months, we decide to go out with a couple of people to give it another chance. First off, it's kind of cafeteria style. You go up and order everything at the counter and get your silverware, napkins, etc. at a little station. That could be quaint, I guess. Not pulled off the right way. Second, wine options are bad. Had 2 different bottles and 3 different wines total--really not to our tastes. Second, their pizza was just bad for us. We like detectable sauce on our pizza--which is totally a preference, I understand. So when we asked for extra sauce, we were told it might not be good because it's "raw" and there is raw garlic and lemon and it's probably not good on the side. Fair. They were right. It wasn't good. We had two different pizzas and a bowl of olives. The pizzas were burnt around the edges, there was very little sauce, and the arugula on one of the pizzas was entirely overwhelming. It's not baby arugula and it's piled on. It was a salad on a pizza and not in a good way. I know these are all personal preferences, but with local good pizza shops like Ian's, Carini's, Pizza Man, Cranky Al's, and if you're willing to travel Glorioso's somewhat near by, why would you waste your time and money here? Sorry; this place was a total miss.

Yelp
Been hearing lots of good things about this place. Finally tried them last night doing a carryout instead of dining in. Tried the hogsback pizza which comes with sausage and red onion. The cranberry cashew salad and some focaccia bread. All three items were really good. The thin crust on the pizza i really enjoyed. The balsamic sauce for the focaccia is outstanding. Salad greens were fresh and tasty. Homemade cranberry and o.j. dressing were really nice. Nice takeout experience I plan on going and dining in the near future.

Yelp
Pretty good pizza. Ordered pick up and was ready quite quick. Very limited parking though.

Yelp
I can't believe this gem has been open more than 3 years and we are here only recently. It's a small venue inside, (about 6 tables), but there's a nice patio with seating the weather permitting. The staff were friendly and helpful at navigating their menu options. They had a microbrew tap and bottle beer selection along with several wine and soft drinks. We started with a salad of cucumber, peach, onion, feta, and a vinaigrette. This wasn't a combination I'd considered would blend well, but it was refreshing and delicious. The pizza was large and wood fired with a nice charred crust, we had a traditional sausage, onion, and mushroom pizza which was delicious. We will definitely return soon to try one of their white pies which we've been told are awesome. Keep up the good work!

Yelp
I am never disappointed when I order pizza here. My go to is the hot marmot. The thought behind every ingredient in their pizzas is evident. I could eat the crust alone, it's that good! Highly recommend!

Yelp
When Miles Borghgraef, Birch and Butcher chef and owner came into my Lyft, and suggested Wy-east as "The Best Pizza in MKE it got my attention. Then the owner's niece of Wy'east came into my Lyft and said the same. Well I knew I had to check it out. (Pizza is my, 'What if you can take only 1 food to an island?' answer) Well after understanding the rules of ordering (explained by niece...kind of Soup Nazi Seinfeld like), I asked Ms. Wy-east on the phone what she suggested pepperoni or sausage and ordered their sausage pie based upon that and left it simple. It was perfect from crust to cheese to sausage to sauce to perfect temperature and lack of sloppiness/mess that caused me to completely enjoy my 15 minutes in my parked car down the block. Two-thirds gone, and 2 slices left to enjoy at home of the 14" (only size) piece of perfection So much did I enjoy it, that I had to go back at 4:30pm (opening time) on Wednesday. (Found out closed on Tuesday!) As I readied to order the pepperoni special call Hot Marmot, I was swayed by the Wednesday and Sunday special The Ring of Fire. It has bacon for goodness sake! Add to that honey, sport peppers, fontina cheese and I experienced back to back winners. Every ingredient could be easily tasted and once again, AMAZING. I've grown up on MKE pizza for 18 years and ate Chicago pizza for 30 years, this is the best I've ever had! Going back tonight for The Hot Marmot! Thanks!

Yelp
Customer service like the others eluded too? Yeah if you like people slamming doors shut in your face, this is your place . Rude, obnoxious etc etc. there are a million other Italian style pizza joints in MKE and beyond. This place literally is the worst from a customer perspective. Avoid like the plague.

Yelp
I so wanted to like this place. I so wanted to look past the accurate previous reviews that said 'no parmesan for you, our pizza has pecorino on it', 'no, you can't put pepperoni and sausage on the same pie', 'no you can't put two tables together for your party of 5'. I so wanted to like a place that seems to try so hard and yet let's their pretentiousness prevail. The pepperoni is more of a salami. The sauce is more of a paste. And the 'herbs' topping the pie make it a salty mess. I so wanted to like their focaccia crust that should have a good balanced char, but 2 of 3 pies were too charred. I'm sure many will enjoy this place. It's more of a 'fancy Italian restaurant fancy pizza as first course but not main event' kind of place. Except it is the main event here. And here I wish I hadn't spent my Friday. I wish I'd have gone to the old school B family place with thin crust and authentic and deserved old world attitude just up the road.

Yelp
We are pretty big pizza snobs - that is being from Chicago, we prefer a nice deep dish and generally despise anything thin crust. Wy'east is the only pizza we consistently order that is not deep dish! Situated in a nondescript corner of Vliet and Hawley, it is pretty damn tiny. There are two parking spots and street parking! They have a menu of interesting pizzas aside from the usual toppings! Though we've never dined in, the restaurant appears cozy and intimate, not sure it would be great for a large party for but for a dinner with a small group of friends would be perfect. While Wy'east toppings are creative and tasty, the crust differentiates it from other pizza palaces. Wood fired oven makes gives it a slight char and it has a wonderful texture and toasted taste! We enjoy this place and when looking for good local pizza, I wouldn't hesitate to try it!
