The Best Date Night Restaurants in Houston

"Although in a nondescript location, diners who step behind the wooden doors at this Sichuan hot pot spot find themselves surrounded by beautiful, elaborate decor. Each table is equipped with a stove for heating the broth and ample space for all the ingredients that accompany it. Choose up to three broths, including the signature ”spicy and numbing” málà. The cooling frozen drinks and a complimentary ice cream bar at the end of the meal complete the picture." - Brittany Britto Garley, Nadia Gire

Xiaolongkan - Review - Chinatown - Houston - The Infatuation

"Xiaolongkan is known for its Sichuan-style hot pot. This restaurant is beautiful, draped in red curtains and glowing paper lanterns, with burners embedded at your table. It makes you forget you’re in a Chinatown strip center. The service is attentive, offering time stamps down to the second and how to mix sauces like a seasoned chemist. Watch as the beef and lamb platter on a large wooden ring gets paraded through the dining room, landing perfectly around the burners of your table. Xiaolongkan is perfect for small groups wanting to celebrate a birthday at one of Houston's best hot pot restaurants." - Julie Takahashi

This was our second visit to Old Alley Hot Pot, and it continues to impress! Our first visit was during lunch, where we enjoyed their lunch special, fresh ingredients with decent options, flavorful broth, and attentive service made it a memorable experience. This time, we returned for dinner and were equally pleased. The quality of food remained excellent, and the service was just warm. The atmosphere is welcoming and ideal for gathering with friends and family. Old Alley Hot Pot delivers both consistency and quality, making it a go-to spot for a satisfying and enjoyable hot pot meal. Highly recommended!

Used to be XiaoLongKan but they changed their name to Old Alley Hot Pot now. Highly recommend Tomato & Pork Bone Broth. Everything was great, fresh meat cuts and good portion of all. My favorites are: crystal beef slices, crystal beef tripes, freshwater eel (new), duck paw, beef & lamb ring.

XiaoLongKan Chinese Hot Pot in Houston offers an authentic Sichuan dining experience with its beautifully decorated interior, featuring traditional wooden decor and red lanterns that make you feel like you’re in China. They also provided special touches like a more elaborate pot because it was Chinese New Year. The menu boasts a variety of fresh meats and vegetables, and the attentive staff are helpful in guiding you through the ordering process. Be careful with the spice levels, as even the mild options can be quite spicy. While it is on the pricier side, many patrons feel that the quality and authenticity make it worth the cost. Overall, it’s a great spot for those seeking a genuine hot pot experience in Houston.

Google
Xialongkhan is a hotpot restaurant located in Chinatown Bellaire. The interior is decorated nicely and transforms you into a historical Cdrama. They offer a variety of broths and side dishes for your hotpot and a sauce bar in the back. They are not all-you-can-eat, which is nice when you just want to enjoy and take your time eating without fighting for your life and unbottoning and unzipping your pants by the end of the night. I always get their pork bone broth, chicken broth, and classic spicy soup base. The classic spicy soup base is pretty spicy, so make sure to start off low! We also like to get their beef and lamb, which they put around the hotpot aesthetically. It’s better when you go with around 3+ people. They are pretty busy at around dinner time especially during the weekends, but if you wait over an hour, they’ll offer a beef ribeye plate or chrysanthemum tea. My favorite is their shrimp paste! When cooked, it is soft and bouncy—very delicious in the classic spicy broth. You order everything from a QR code, which is more convenient than flagging down a server. The side dishes do come out slow at times, though, but Xialongkhan has definitely become one of my favorite hotpot places!

Go here! This place is fabulous! Drove from the North side to get here, and it was worth it. The staff is ridiculously kind and accommodating. Never had to ask for anything. First timers so they politely explained everything. Take their advice... order a few things then add on. Everything was fresh and beautifully presented. Coconut jelly dessert served in a real coconut. Had a lovely conversation with a young server with longer hair while she packed up our leftovers. We ordered way too much. THINGS TO KNOW: If you are not tech savvy, they don't use paper menus. No fountain sodas. Napkins are in a drawer, in the table, at your waist. Start with the lowest level of spice possible because it's still fairly spicy. We chose 3 cooking broths but could have just done 2. GO EAT HERE AT LEAST ONCE!!

We had a fantastic experience! My family had never been to a Hot place restaurant. We had no idea what to do. They explained everything to us, how to order, how to cook it, and how to mix the sauces. It was delicious and a fun experience! They were so helpful and patient with us. Great service!

Update: came back to dine on Lunar New Year 🐍🧨🧧 The staff was friendly, helpful and attentive. The prices are very reasonable. The restrooms were clean, and tidy. The kids enjoied their time as always. The food was very fresh, had many choices to choose from and so good. The atmosphere is always the best. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone who wants to try a hotpot, or cultural food, or just a fun experience with the kids, a date night, or a great dine to yourself. 5 stars for one of the best restaurants in Houston 🏙️🫕😋 XaioLongKan never disappoints. We cant wait to come back again. 🤗

On my inaugural visit to this restaurant, the waiter went above and beyond to create a comfortable and welcoming experience. Skillfully guiding me through the menu, the waiter assisted in choosing well-portioned and delicious dishes. The freshness of the ingredients was evident in every bite, contributing to an exceptional dining experience. The inviting atmosphere further enhanced the overall enjoyment, leaving me with a strong inclination to revisit this establishment in the future.

Yelp
Really solid and authentic hot pot experience for a non-AYCE hot pot place! The interior and ambiance of this place makes you feel like you're back in China, and the flavors of the broth are also very strong and delicious. I would recommend the tomato broth as well as the spicy beef tallow broth. Both are fragrant on its own, and all of the meats and vegetables you put in it soak up the flavors perfectly. They also have complimentary ice cream to grab next to the sauce bar!

Yelp
Been here many times and still like it. Prices have been increased a bit but not too bad. We came back with family yesterday and service was good too.
google avatar

Julie Marcellina V.

Yelp
First and foremost this isn't a AYCE. So it adds up. So far we added the 3 pot option. Tomato, beef broth and pork broth. The broth is $17. The non spicy pork broth was my favorite, then beef, last is the tomato. The spicy broth had way too much oil and herbs in there. Chose the beef and lamb combo. $23 It was a good portion size! The quality is good. Added a veggie combo $10 Wood ear mushrooms $4 Potato noodles $6 Their water is enough for me to give this place less of a star. The water is so gross and I can taste that their filter needs to be changed. They cover it up with a slice of lemon. I won't be coming back here.

Yelp
Been here on 2 occasions and enjoyed the ambiance and food both times. I thought even level 1 spice was very spicy. I liked the presentation of the beef and lamb and the condiments/snacks/ice cream bar. I thought that service was slow at times and it was a bit chaotic moving through the restaurant. I've also tried their shrimp, tripe, various tofus, various vegetables, and I enjoyed everything here. The broths are very flavorful. You order via QR code.

Yelp
I love coming to this place. Inside the restaurant is really nice. It smells good. You can fit a lot of people around a small table. Food is good. Can't go wrong coming here.

Yelp
XiaoLongKan offers an amazing restaurant environment and experience. Located in the heart of Bellaire's China town, this hotpot restaurant features amazing interior design and private tables along the walls that give private settings for each party. The restaurant offers a very nice build your own sauce bar with all the ingredients you'd need to make amazing sauces. There is also complementary ice cream and popsicles. As for the food, I was unfortunately disappointed. That is to say it was not bad, don't get me wrong it was very good, but there were a few areas where I felt it lacked. At other hotpot restaurants in Houston, sides that are added to the soup base, such as: noodles, mushrooms, and fish and shrimp balls, are included for free. However at this restaurant you had to order them individually, with very small portions. Overall a good restaurant experience, but not the best when it came to the food. PS: soup bases are EXTREMELY HOT we got a level one and it had us eating ice cream through out the meal!!!

Yelp
We really love the hot pot here!! Be ready to sneeze your brains out cause the spices gets all up in your nose when you dine here! And by spices, I mean spices cause even the medium is super duper hot. I don't know how anyone can eat it cause it was way too much for me, even in a mild. But I love their bone broth and my friend loves their tomato broth! You can order all 3 and get the best of all the worlds!! The meats are tender and not gamey at all.. even with the lamb. There's lots of veggies and meats to choose from and they all come out so fresh! There's a sauce bar so you can mix and match your own concoctions for dipping! They even have ice cream and some desserts in the sauce bar for you to enjoy after your meal. Service is pretty quick and it's a good price for a lot of food. Good for cooler days but cause Houston doesn't stay cool for very long, it's also pleasant in the heat of the summer cause the AC works wonders inside! Get the meat circle with the assortment of meats.. it was super delicious with all the veggies! I especially like the fish balls but the salted egg inside! The broth is good for drinking as well.. it's definitely a comfort meal for me. They also refill your broths frequently, as it boils off and as you go! We frequent this place when we're craving hot pot!

Yelp
Omg top tier hot pot place. Pricey but you will NOT regret it! I can't wait to go back next time I'm in Houston

Yelp
My favorite hotpot place in Houston, can't say anything more than that! Fresh ingredients and good service.

Yelp
Place was excellent, food was excellent, and customer service was great. They're gonna run through everything for you. If you're going with other people, once you all scan the menu.....it's gonna add everyone's items of choice so be careful! It can end up being pricey. You have to pay online as well. They don't do cash. Fellas, if you're looking for a good date spot whether it's lunch or dinner for that special person, check this place out!

Yelp
Good food and great service! Recommend the Mala soup base. However, it is a little pricy.

Yelp
I love this place!! The vibes are immaculate and service is great! I love coming here with friends and family. The best part is their complimentary ice cream bar and frozen drinks!! If you love hot pot, this is a must try in Houston!

Yelp
Food was amazing and staff was so kind! This is a traditional experience with a way of eating you may not be used to but the staff is extremely attentive and helpful. Overall this was fun and new and my meal was delicious.

Yelp
This place was gorgeous. I really wish that more hot pot places where this beautiful. I loved the traditional Sichuan decor. I would definitely recommend trying to call ahead for seating, or making a reservation because this place gets so busy. The service itself was exceptional. Our server actually had to make sure I was ok with the spice level 3 times, because they're mala flavor hot pot is authentically Sichuan Hot pot. BEWARE: If you do choose to get the Mala flavor hot pot it is spicy and the longer you eat it the more you will feel the numbing effects of Szechuan peppercorn. I am not a novice when it comes to spicy food so of course I got the normal level of spice. Which is like a level 10 by Sichuan standards. The server will ask you if you want to do the sauce bar. It is an extra charge of $3. DO IT! NO CAP! It is so worth going to the sauce bar to dip your meat and vegetables in. They also have complementary shrimp chips, ice cream, frozen lemonade, and side dishes for that extra $3. This is unlimited all you can eat. They had Häagen-Dazs, ice cream bars, and Chinese Popsicles. I had probably three Häagen-Dazs and to Chinese Popsicles.. I'm telling you for three dollars do the sauce bar! My recommendation if it is your first time eating hot pot and you do not know what to get to put in your hot pot. I recommend getting one of their set menu boxes. In the picture below, you can see a wooden box with nine smaller squares. In this box, there is spam, imitation crab meat, spicy Szechuan beef, beef brisket, quail eggs, fish tofu, vermicelli noodles, potato, and Lotus root. We also got an additional serving of beef brisket, tofu skin, wood ear mushrooms, and beef tripe. Pro Tip: Ask for the long chopsticks when you want to dip your food into the hot pot. It will save you from scalding yourself.

Yelp
Love that I can have three different broths with my hotpot. Very generous portions. Friendly staff. And I loved their plates! I asked if I could buy one to take home and they gifted me one!

Yelp
Food and service were excellent!! And it's the perfect place for dress up for pictures. We love it!

Yelp
I love hotpot, it's one of the best things in the world. I really try to get out to at least 1 hotpot restaurant when traveling and Shoo Loong Kan is good, very good. The restaurant is decorated with traditional wood paneling, red drapes and lanterns. It definitely transport you to another place. Each table has a built in stove with ample table space for all of your items, there's also an additional cart pulled up to the end of table for extra space, very well thought out. Orders are done via QR code. In one pot you can order up to 3 broths or just one broth if there's a strong preference. There are many choices of hotpot items from meats to noodles, everyone will find something. Then there's an option to pick your own sauces. The Mala broth is my favorite, the meats really picked up the flavor of the broth. Side note: Mala is only for cooking not drinking. Service was wonderful. We were checked on multiple times, cooking times were provided and they even helped us with our sauces. Must eat in Houston.

Yelp
The spicy beef tallow soup base is the star broth here in my opinion. It's numbing, savory, and definitely not lacking in the spice department. I love cooking the beef and lamb in this broth. As for the tomato broth, it was a bit sweeter than I'd like it to be. I would've preferred it to be more savory, but it was still solid nevertheless. I like cooking noodles and vegetables in this broth. All the veggies and meats were fresh and of good quality. The crystal beef slices have a very tough and chewy texture, so this menu item might not be for everyone. I love that they have sweet potato noodles here, so satisfying to chew on! Their sauce bar has a lot of options and I love that they give free ice cream!

Yelp
Delicious place if you want to go to a hotpot restaurant that is not all you can eat. The restaurant may be hard to find because there is no sign above the front door but look for the wooden door! The inside is cute and charming; reminds me of a traditional Chinese movie. Our waiter was super friendly and made sure that our soup broth never got too low. Their handmade noodle is so yummy. Highly recommend ordering it if you decided to give this place a try or the next time you go again.
google avatar

Yelp
Y'all I've gone here twice because I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, but do not get the spicy szechuan broth here. It is SO freaking spicy even though I chose lvl 2 which is supposed to be mild AND both times it lit my stomach on fire a few hours after as well as my other end. And before you say I'm weak, in my 25 years of life I've been a lover of spicy food and Szechuan broths & never had to back down due to spice until now. It's too spicy. I felt like my taste buds were roasting & burning off. That being said though, their bone broth is good. Their tomato broth is a bit on the lighter side but still okay. Their meats are fresh and marbly and service is good and fairly fast. I am docking another star though because I feel like one should not be paying almost $40+ pp for hot pot. Yes. This place is a la carte only. I don't think it's worth the high price and that you can do hotpot at home or go elsewhere for cheaper.

Yelp
Food is very good. Service is excellent. Like the environment, except a little bit too noisy for seniors
google avatar

Yelp
The sign is very small so you might miss it the first time, plenty of parking. The staffs are pretty tentative for the most part and nice. The sauce bar (4/5) Refreshment (fruits, fried sesame red bean balls, pineapple slushees) (5/5) Dessert (Häagen-Dazs ice cream!, ice popsicle and snow fungus dessert) The proteins and veggies (4/5) The broths were flavorful (4/5) Overall, it's a $50 per person and we had a lot of extra meat left. Definitely a nice change of scenery when you don't want to go to hotpot buffet and feel rushed. I would definitely come back.
google avatar

Anj G.

Yelp
Great spot. We got the Tallow and the pork bone broth. Both were tasty, but the clerk did warn us we didn't want to drink the tallow broth b/c of all the peppers and she was right! It's great to dip your meat in the tallow broth, but not something I would slurp up. The pork broth was easy to slurp and it was fine to mix the two to cut the spice of the tallow. Loved the ambiance! It was intimate with private booths for a conversation with friends or a date. I also loved the table setting with the napkins in the drawer, the hot pot in the center and the replaceable chopsticks. The service was also considerate and walked us through the flavors and gave us the inside scoop on spice levels and what to think about when ordering. The meal was a bit pricey, but reasonable ($90 for 2people) - well worth the experience and quality of food.
google avatar

Sunland C.

Yelp
The wait on a Sunday night was almost an hr, which is honestly one of the only reasons I wouldn't go back. They don't really have a hostess, but an iPad stand you input your info into. The menu and ordering is through the qr code. Everything is a little pricey, especially the normally cheap stuff like spam and imitation crab, but overall good quality even with the cheaper selections of meat.. Tried the bone broth and the tomato broth. Both were good, but I preferred the tomato one, which was tangy. Service was really good throughout the meal until the end when it was kind of difficult to flag them down to pay. They have a self service snack/sauce/dessert bar. The snacks look a little sad at first, but they have a couple of unique things...like sesame candy that I enjoyed. They also have those sugar water popsicles that you split in half, Jonny pops, and Häagen-Dazs bars. They also have peach and lychee slushies! Considering the items we ordered were all on the cheap side of the menu, it was still like $80, so I'd be a little reluctant to eat here often, but I'd come again eventually.
google avatar

Yelp
The food was delish & the servers were super helpful/attentive. Helped us what to order (broth) and how much! Come hungry and enjoy!
google avatar

Kim T.

Yelp
The atmosphere is very Asian down to the classic Chinese movie wooden tables and chairs. So no cushions, just straight wood. The Sauce Bar that includes desserts is extra $3. The broths were good, but beware there are four levels of spicy but their levels are more like Thai Spicy levels, so I would order lower than normal and you can always make it more spicy with the sauces. Everything was to be expected though pricey. For example an order of the Beef and Lamb separately is $18, you might well get the combo for $23 since it's so much more meat for a few more dollars than take it home. Service was good, taking away empty dishes and refilling the pans with more hot broth. A good place to take a newbie with the atmosphere but you can go to their places for all you can eat which may be better bang for your buck. Though I did really enjoy the Haagen Dazs ice cream bars.
google avatar

Darren N.

Yelp
This has got to be my favorite (Chinese) hot pot place of all time. The parking lot has generous parking spots and there could be a wait time if you go during dinner on the weekends but the wait is never more than 30 minutes. This place was decorated so nicely that it felt like I was transported to the other side of the world. The service was excellent they helped explain everything from the menu to how everything works. It is on the pricier side but it is worth every scent to the savory soup bases with fresh meats. They also have a sides and sauce bar so make sure to check it out! I can't stress how authentic this place is and not trying to be dramatic but it changed my life.
google avatar

emily c.

Yelp
Love the ambiance and look of this restaurant! The drawer in the table is where all the utensils and napkins located. Used to have free sesame balls but now I think they charge a small fee for those small appetizer items. I know the beef with egg is a huge hit here everyone orders it but I came here twice before and ordered it thinking that I would like it but I'm not a fan of it. The soup look super spicy but it's really not that spicy. The meats and veggies here are of pretty good quality so I usually come for more of a special occasion. The ordering is done on an iPad.
google avatar

Yelp
Very attentive service from friendly staff. We were a bit confused with how to order and what to do at first, but we got the hang of it. The food was good and the experience was fun. We look forward to going back.

Yelp
Hands down one of the best hot pot places in town, but perhaps also the most expensive. Food 5/5 The quality of the meat here is top-notch. We got the lamb leg, lamb shoulder, beef tongue, and ribeye, along with lots of veggies, all of which were delicious. The only item we regretted was the seafood platter which was around $50 which we didn't feel was worth it. We got the tri-pot with pork bone broth, tomato based broth, and the spicy beef broth. All three broths were great and it was a good mix of spicy and non-spicy. The broths were so flavorful that I barely even used my dipping sauce. Warning: we ordered medium spicy for the spicy broth and it was VERY spicy. I'd probably order a level down next time. Also, I wish they would strain out all the peppercorns before serving the broth - can be very difficult cooking noodles in there and then pulling it out filled with peppercorns. Service 5/5 Service in Chinatown can be touch and go but this place has great service. It also has the most bi-lingual staff I've seen yet in Chinatown. The hostess and the servers all spoke pretty good Chinese and English and were very courteous. Each table has buttons you can press to call for service, which is very convenient. You order food on your phone and can also pay on your phone. Ambience 5/5 The restaurant is gorgeous. Reminds me of restaurants I'd gone to in China with my family. Very traditional yet tasteful decor. They played a mix of English and Chinese pop music. Personally, I felt the Chinese music went better with the decor and feel of the restaurant. If price is no object, I'd highly recommend this restaurant. But like I said, the one big downside of this place is it is much more expensive than all the other hot pot places I've gone to in Houston, including other a la carte places like Haidilao and Niu Jiao Jian. But I overall enjoyed my meal and experience here much more than those places so it was worth it in my book.

Yelp
came to this restaurant for the aesthetic and we absolutely love it, just like in the movies! we ordered everything through this QR code and food came out so quickly! such good pricing for hotpot when it's cold outside :)

Yelp
What a beautiful restaurant! The inside of this restaurant is all wood and red cloth, detailed carvings and booths with plenty of privacy. The spice level on this Chinese hot pot location is not an exhaggeration! Although I routinely put Sriracha on my food, XiaoLongKan level 2 spicy is enough to make me sweat, so be careful and don't ego order here! The options for vegetables, meats, and noodles are huge, and you order everything via your phone, so it's easy to request additional things while you eat. The serving staff are attentive and will continually check to make sure your hot pot isn't boiling over, everyone has adequate water, etc. There's a walk-up bar for you to mix your own spices while you eat, and Haagen-Daas ice cream to cool your palate after eating something so deliciously spicy! Parking is free and easy in a large parking lot out front of the entrance, so no worries there!

Yelp
Good hotpot spot! I've been twice now and service was great on both occasions. Lively atmosphere with appropriate decor, food is fresh and of good quality. Love the self-service sauce counter.

Yelp
I saw a lot of reels on Instagram about this place that said that the food here was really good and that the place looked really fun and interesting to go to. I tried to call ahead of time to clarify pricing on the soup bases since pricing can be confusing when it comes to hot pots. I spoke to 2 different people on two different occasions but could not get clear answers from both of them. We arrived at around 6:30 pm on a Thursday and there was no wait. There was water and Chinese twist cookies that you can eat while you wait too. The interior and decor looked really unique. You feel like you're in a historic Chinese restaurant. Xiaolongkan prepares Sichuan-style hot pots and originates from Chengdu in China. Inside you see pictures of characters from the Three Kingdoms Period of Chinese history. The tables have swing out drawers that have napkins in them. In the center of the tables is the heating base for the hot pot and you can control the heat from the side of the table. Each seating place has a small tray and extra long chopsticks for use. The table has a pair of tongs, a soup ladle, and a slotted spoon for the actual hot pot. Ordering was a bit confusing. After we got seated we waited for a bit and no waiter came out. So I waved one down and she said that you have to scan the QR code on the table with your phone and then order from there. I was having trouble placing the order on my phone so we had to push the call button, which we found out about on our own by looking at what was on our table, to get a waiter. On Mondays-Thursdays there's a special for the Golden Fish Maw Chicken Hot Pot combination. It looked good so we got that. The golden colored broth is a creamy broth with pieces of fish maw and goji berries. A literal whole chicken was included and there was even the chicken's head and feet! There was also a big bowl of vegetables that included lotus root, enoki mushrooms, sliced radish, and Napa cabbage. Additionally there were side dishes with a brown colored sauced, green onion, chili, and dried crunchy onion pieces. I also got an order of prime angus beef slices. Since it was my first time there checking in, I got a complementary plum juice. This was an interesting drink. It tasted like plum juice mixed with lemon juice and herbs so the drink was sour yet had a medicinal taste. The chicken was just okay. It wasn't really the best chicken ever and it didn't taste as fresh and juicy as I would like. The angus beef was alright. I did like the creamy flavor of the broth and it was probably the broth which brought the most flavor to everything. The food overall was alright. But later that night after we left, everyone in my party, including myself, had horrible stomach pain the whole night. I couldn't even fall asleep until I took some medicine to help relieve it and I haven't experienced stomach pain like that in a very long time. I really wanted to love this place and give it more stars but having everyone have stomach aches was not fun.

Yelp
In the diary for several weeks, it's hot pot night. I ordered various foods with the tomato soup base. The service was very attentive and nice. All food items are fresh and well prepared. We also love the Chinese style decor, it made us feel like we were in ChjnaHighly recommend this restaurant, delicious. Glad we arrived early as a huge queue when we left.

Yelp
Authentic Sichuan hot pot, Awesome service along with the most beautiful decor I've ever seen. My friend & I decided to give this place a try based on great reviews & I have to say it was well worth it. The ordering system is simple, you scan the QR code & order what you want & they'll bring it to you. Here's what we've ordered. Dual Soup Base ($14.98) * Classic beef tallow spicy soup (level 3 medium spice)- it was good & very spicy. However the broth was just too thick and it had too much chili oil & Chinese chili peppers. They had to add the non spicy broth to make the soup taste more soupy. I will say it's definitely your traditional Sichuan numbing hot pot. 3/5 * Pork bone soup base- Aromatic & extremely flavorful. 4.5/5 * Lamb leg slices ($13.98)- good quality lamb * 4X eggs ($1 each) * Vegetables ($9.98)- generous amounts of fresh veggies. * 3X Homemade noodles ($3.98 each) * Shrimp ($8.98) * Crispy Sausage ($6.98)- it was alright, not my favorite. * Crab Sticks ($7.98)- very good but kind of pricy, they did give us a lot though. Overall I thought the food was good, it was expensive but worth every penny. The service was above and beyond; (special mention to Hong), everyone was attentive with checking on us, giving us refills on water & broth. If you need assistance you can just click the button. The only thing I didn't like is paying an extra $3 bucks for the salad/sauce bar. In my honest opinion, considering the amount we've paid, that could've been included. Everything came out to be $92 bucks, which is hefty but sometimes I deserve to splurge myself. I also want to add that their restrooms are spotless & they have cologne for you to use (bougie lol). At the end our server gave us a stamp card, & after you collect 5 stamps you'll get a $50 voucher which isn't a bad deal at all. Will I return? For sure.

Yelp
Spicy spicy spicy... yummy yummy yummy... I love this themed like temple hot pot spot in China Town in Houston. Customer service was awesome, level 2 of spicy was spicy like I like it I can't imagine it spicier. The spicy beef was completed coated in crushed red peppers with no fat which I thought was great. They have this intercom that killed me on how you pressed the button and a timer came on so staff rushed to service you. I loved that!!! It was pricey with all the extra fixings but it was so much fun it didn't matter. I loved my hot pot experience!!!

Yelp
5 stars all the way!! We got the pork bone broth- WAY better than what we have in Fort Worth. So flavorful, we were just sipping the broth. We also did the spicy broth and ordered it level 2 but it definitely did not taste like a level 2 because it was SUPER spicy. I'd suggest doing a level 1 and get extra spice on the side. The service was amazing, helpful, always came to check on us. Will definitely come back.

Yelp
This place was an experience. Definitely different from most hotspot places I've been to. When you first enter, they will welcome you in Chinese. The uniform definitely gives you the feeling like you're in China. This place was definitely pricey but I thought it was worth it. It was not all-you-can-eat but I like the sauce bar that includes sauce/ingredients to make the sauce, fruits, lemonade/slushy all for $2 (unlimited) We ordered the big meat tray with all 3 broths and it was a lot for just 2 people but we managed to finish since we didn't order the other stuff. My boyfriend and I love meat! We were so hungry too. I'll definitely come back, I had a great experience, and the service was fine. Thank you for the food!

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday afternoon, was seated right away with a party of 4. Great atmosphere and beautiful decor. Friendly attentive staff. Meats and veggies were fresh, soup bases were flavorful. A fantastic bonus is the mini buffet that includes fresh fruit, shrimp crackers, fortune cookies, Häagen-Dazs ice cream bars and other frozen treats. Had a fantastic lunch date here and will definitely be coming back. Definitely worth every penny, and because it's not AYCE, you can take leftovers to go!!!

Yelp
A great hot pot restaurant in Houston! The flavors of the hot pot was great, the service was very on (they have a great way on their table to allow you to request service when you need it which is really nice), and the ambience is very well done. The ingredients are also nice quality. As much as I did enjoy this restaurant, I feel like they could have more ingredients to choose from, like more vegetables (spinach, bok choy, etc? And more meat options (shrimp, fish, etc). We also ordered red wine and they were completely out... If you are looking for hot pot in Houston, I would check this place out

Yelp
this place might not seem like anything exciting from the outside but as soon as you open those dragon doors, it's like you're in a whole different world. The ambiance of the place surrounds you and the hot pot aroma begins to takeover. We were promptly greeted and seated, as a party of 5, to a nice booth where we would scan a QR code that opened up a shared ordering menu for the table. It was not too busy on a Sunday during lunch time in the summer. We got two broths, pork bone and classic spicy, that both tastes flavorful and delicious. The pork bone broth had a nice rich flavor while the spicy was not overpowering, but just right. The deluxe lamb and beef combo was the perfect thing to get as lamb and beef are a staple for every hot pot place, and while this was a combo, the quality was fantastic and not to mention the presentation was beautiful as well. It was just enough for 4-5 people and was not that expensive either. Self-Serve Sauce bar was $3/person and I believe it is mandatory, as it also comes with a complimentary slushie machine that was delightful and haagen-dazs ice cream bars at the end of your meal. I also got a plate of beef tongue that was just the right consistency and texture, not too chewy. A underrated star at the table was the sweet potato vermicelli noodle, as it was very delicious and soaked up the broth nicely. Overall, I can confidently say this is a very strong competitor to somewhere like Hai Di Lao, and one of my favorite Hot Pot places to go to. We stopped here at the end of our Houston trip from Dallas, but I would 100% go back there as my first choice whenever I'm feeling Hot Pot.

Yelp
I came here on a Friday night, put my name down, and had to wait approximately an hour and 15 minutes to be seated; that's how popular this place is. The interior design is gorgeous and there is traditional Chinese decoration. This place is not all you can eat so we did a la carte. It came out to be about $40 per person which is approximately how much I would spend for all you can eat. While the food was good and the service was good as well, I think I would prefer to spend the same amount of money on all you can eat. On a side note, you can get Hagen daaz bars after your meal for free!

Yelp
I've heard a lot of great things about this hot pot place so I thought I would finally give it a try. When you walk in, it feels like you have traveled to the Sichuan province in China with the beautiful decorations and the alluring atmosphere. We ordered a variety of meats and 3 different soup bases. There is a sauce station that is self-serve that includes slushies and ice cream. I believe the pricing for each person is about $3 if you want to participate in it. Fun tip: if you don't want to get ur clothes dirty you can request an apron. Also, there are napkins located in the table cubbies which I thought was a creative way to store them for customers. Some things that I wanted to point out were the benches for the seating. It was a little uncomfortable sitting on a bench and trying to cook at the same time but nonetheless the food was still good. The chili oil was a little strong so be sure to grab a slushy to help wash it down. The service was great and you can even place your order on an iPad if you are a visuals person. Presentation and plating was superb definitely give this place a try if you are in the area!

Yelp
This place is my new favorite hotpot place in Houston. The restaurant offer mala style broth that can get very spicy, which I enjoy the most. Their pork and tomato broth is also great. The hand pulled noodle is a must, very chewy! The customer service is another level, all of the staff are very nice. The restaurant is spacious and very clean. It can get pricey depending on how much you eat, but overall experience is great.

Yelp
The food was really good we got 3 different broths a bit in the expensive side for 4 ladies about $150 but they did offer a lot of decent sides. I really enjoyed the red bean sesame balls, the peach slushy, ice cream and fruits to name a few. They have a good selection of meat and dipping sauces! I'll def come back the only thing I didn't like was ordering on my own. We selected a broth and for some reason it didnt catch it and it was also a separate price... so all of the sides came out and we were missing the broth for a good while until one of the waitress noticed that our broth wasn't order.

Yelp
XiaoLongKan is a chain hot pot restaurant originating from Chengdu, the capital city of central Sichuan Province of China. The overarching theme of XiaoLongKan is inspired by the Three Kingdoms Era of Imperial China. As soon as you open the wooden doors, be prepared to step into another time period. Take a couple of moments to admire the delicate wooden frames with its intricate Hui pattern, the auspicious red lanterns hanging high, and the beautiful paintings referencing the Chinese classic novel, Romance of the Three Kingdoms. It was evident there was a lot of thought put into creating an ethereal ambiance. Three flavors soup base: Classic spicy beef tallow, tomato, and pork bone. The number three here could represent the three heroes of the kingdom of Shu, ambitious Liu Bei, warrior Guan Yu and relentless Zhang Fei. It was said these three took an oath in the Peach Garden, symbolizing their fraternal loyalty and unity to protect what was most sacred to them. As these three played important roles in the kingdom of Shu, so did this three flavor soup base-setting the core foundation to an impeccable meal. Combination A, nine grid box filled with spicy beef, ribeye, spam, potato, lotus root, sausage, fish tofu, imitation crab stick, and vermicelli noodle. The number nine can be seen as a symbol for completeness, longevity, and eternity. The beauty of the nine grid box not only lies with its graceful setup but also with its divine quality of ingredients. This meal was truly not complete without this combination. At end of this experience, I was reminded of the proverb: "Having love, drinking water will fill you up, without love, eating food will leave you hungry." In other words, with love even water can be filling, but without love not even food will make you full. Digressing a little bit from the traditional interpretation, I would argue XiaoLongKan provided service and handled their food with an abundance of love. I tasted it alone just from one sip of the bone broth. -Sailor out

Yelp
I've been here several times and today I had their Monday to Thursday special: Huajiao Chicken Hotpot. It is only $38 rather than the regular price of $88. I liked the soup a lot and the chicken was fresh just like my waitress had explained. I would be aware of the spicy dipping sauce because they are much more spicy than regular spicy sauces. I ordered extra plates of meat and baggies and they got along well with the free veggie bowl that came with the chicken. Highly recommend this place and the current special price of chicken hotpot.
