Every time we return to stay at the Mandarin Oriental Taipei, dinner at Ya Ge is an essential part of the experience — and this visit was no exception. From the moment we stepped through the doors, that familiar sense of elegance and calm enveloped us, setting the tone for yet another memorable evening.
This time we tried Ya Ge’s signature dish: the sous-vide slow-roasted cherry duck. Perfectly executed, the duck featured crisp, golden skin and tender, succulent meat — so beautifully prepared that time seemed to slow the moment it touched the palate.
A delightful surprise came in the following course, with the duck served wok-fried with garlic and chilli style. The fragrant garlic and crispy crumbs delivered a bold, addictive flavour that had us reaching for more — utterly irresistible. Of course, no visit to Ya Ge is complete without their signature fried rice. Each grain was distinct and imbued with wok hei, providing the perfect complement to the main courses and a flawless end to the meal.
The service, as always, was impeccable — attentive, warm, and genuinely thoughtful. From the moment we were seated to the final bite, every detail was handled with care, making us feel truly at home.
For us, the Mandarin Oriental Taipei is a sanctuary in the heart of the city, and Ya Ge is a treasured culinary ritual we look forward to with every return. We’ll be back again without hesitation — to rediscover the same finesse, flavour, and comfort that first captured our hearts.
