This charming BYOB spot serves up flavorful Kurdish dishes with a seasonal terrace vibe and plenty of tasty vegan options to savor.
"Yada’s is a much-loved Kurdish restaurant in Peckham. And on any given night the casual spot is filled with families ordering the shawarma—glorious towers of meat, wonders of both sight and smell, that stand tall and proud in the semi-open kitchen, glistening and turning. Platters laden with soft lamb and fragrant stews also hit tables that are embracing the BYOB policy. When you come here, don’t worry about finishing everything—Yada’s is almost as good from the fridge the next day." - jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna
"This Kurdish restaurant on Rye Lane has two big glistening shawarmas on the go at all times but their menu is evenly split between meat, vegetarian, and vegan options. The chicken qozi is fantastic. It glistens with honey and lemon, and the potatoes absorb all the fats and flavours to evolve into an entirely new kind of brick-like carbohydrate. The vegan mezze is also excellent. The falafel is crunchy and light, with a smattering of herbs, and comes with pistachio hummus and dalooja, a red pepper and pomegranate dip. A BYOB policy only adds to its appeal as an excellent group dinner spot." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna, daisy meager, riaz phillips
"They’re north, you’re south. They’re a ketchup person, you like HP. They won’t say how they voted and, well, you know what that means. It was never going to work. Still, you’ll always have Yada’s. The Kurdish restaurant is handily located right by Peckham Rye station so, whichever direction your journey home is, you should get yourself a sensational shawarma. It’s also BYOB so, depending on how amicable this whole thing is, maybe you can have a drink. Or wait around and get a few mates along to settle in for a falafel-filled debrief afterwards." - jake missing, sinead cranna, rianne shlebak
"The Kurdish restaurant on Rye Lane always has two big glistening shawarmas on the go. The chicken qozi is fantastic—it glistens with honey and lemon with the potatoes cooked under the meat absorbing all the fats and flavours to evolve into an entirely new kind of carbohydrate. But it’s the vegan mezze we think about most. The perfect group sharer, it’s got crunchy and light falafel, pistachio hummus, and dalooja (a red pepper and pomegranate dip)." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna
