Food was amazing. The beef (in both #1 長粉 & 艇仔粥）was incredibly tender. Service was a bit chaotic. Not sure we were supposed to order through the QR code or with someone until we had to ask, and the waiter took our order. We were not given any water and napkin until I had to ask the bus girl (a Latina) for some, who then stared at me weird. Our waiter kept on taking away my half used napkin without giving me any new one... The menu was small and simple, but the food was A+ and filling, but wish they would put some sweet soy sauce on the table for the porridge. The place was small. The porridge spoon was too awkwardly big for the mouth...😓

Casual restaurant but tastes good. The rolls were delicious. The liver pork roll was impressive cause it’s have no smell of pork. The wings were juicy and crispy. Price is great, $7-9$ per dish. Service was standard, and quite slow. I have to wait so long until they recognized that they didn’t come to my table to order even we tried to call them couple times. I wish the restaurant open a little earlier cause it’s also like breakfast restaurant.

New restaurant for rice rolls! Small interior with tables so close to each other. Food came out pretty quick but server was no where to be found after that. Had to flag em down. Pretty easy menu to order from. Their beef brisket rice roll was my favorite. The beef was very soft and flavorful. Each rice roll was under $8 each, pretty affordable restaurant and you’ll def be full

This place is newly opened for about a month but definitely will be the new go-to spot. Really good food, the quality is great too. My fav is Brisket Rice Roll. The congee has a distinct ginger flavor which is super fresh and warming. Overall every items I got were very good and the service was fast. Can’t wait to come back again 🥰

I tried this spot recently and overall had a good experience. The rice rolls were fresh, though the flavor was just okay for me. What really stood out were the porridge and the Hong Kong–style coffee — both were comforting, flavorful, and worth coming back for. The porridge had the perfect texture, and the coffee had that rich, bold taste I love. I’d definitely recommend trying those if you visit.

Chinese chain in Houston. The food is decent but nothing spectacular. For the value, it’s overpriced. I wouldn’t eat here again because other than steamed rolls and congee there isn’t much else. You can get similar quality steamed rice rolls and congee and a much larger menu selection at a local dim sum restaurant at a better value.

Delish rice rolls and hearty congee! Saw many complaints about having to wait, meaning how much anticipation for the entry of this restaurant, and it’s 100% delivered! We’ve been here 3 times. First time was on their first day of soft opening and they ran out of food so we had to come back. Second and third we luckily didn’t have to wait at all. Food is awesome. Rice rolls are incredibly smooth, lusciously wrapping the fresh ingredients. Our favorite are the shrimps (perfectly snappy), house special beef and shrimp (beef velveted and tender), and braised brisket. Their wings are a must try, super moist with 0 dryness, thin and crackly batter. Congee comes in portion for at least 2 people, very generous. Staffs are nice and attentive, very impressive for soft opening period. This has become one of our favorite spot for quick comfort foods. Would love to see them expanding their hours into the morning, as it’s perfect for breakfast.

I got here 10 minutes after opening on a Saturday and it still took 50 minutes for my friend and I to get a table here! When we finally got inside to order, I felt very underwhelmed with the menu selections. My friend and I ordered a watercress and sliced pork congee, fried dough sticks, beef and pork with chives rice roll plus house special beef brisket rice roll. The congee has chopped napa cabbage as a sub for watercress and tasted extremely bland, no salt. 油条炸过头了非常硬感觉在啃石头🪨。neither my friend nor I were impressed with their rice rolls just oily but not tasty. Perhaps I should stick with the shrimp 肠粉only next time, if I do come back.

If you're a fan of the fun rolls at dim sum, this is the place for you. This place specializes in rice rolls with variety of fillings & congee. My family for the shrimp rice rolls, chicken & mushroom rice rolls, & lai wen congee. All these were good, but the shrimp rice rolls were my favorite. If you get the congee, it's enough for 2-3 people to share. For the rice rolls, you can either get your own or share.

This is a good place to get some decent Asian breakfast. I got a couple rice rolls that they specialize in like the beef with chives, house brisket, and watercress pork congee. Overall, they're good but I feel like they're missing a bit of flavor but not quite sure what exactly. The price is a little high as well but maybe I'm expecting Asia prices. Overall, the service is pretty good and fast. You order on the tablet and the food comes pretty quickly. I've seen this place get really busy and there's a wait time - so I recommend showing up before they open or later in the evening with less line. The place is pretty nicely decorated and bright.

So we came here as a late lunch since the weekend got ahead of us and we started the day a little slow/I'm avoidant of studying so I stay in bed. It was fairly quiet around 2-3pm on a Saturday so either the hype has died down or we just found a good time to come without waiting. When we went in, the staff greeted us and let us know we could sit where ever we wanted. They have a virtual ordering so you can scan a QR code and order for your table. We ordered the liver and chive, chicken and mushroom, and donut rice rolls along with their new egg/chive chinese donut. I'm glad there's a local spot for me to get my favorite breakfast food and my Kaiping heritage is thankful. The food itself was good, good amount of "filling," the chinese donuts were niceand crispy, and the rice noodles themselves had a pleasant bite and texture. Flavorwise, I felt they were all missing a little something but I can't place my tongue on what it is. Prices are also a bit high for the food but maybe I'm just expecting China prices in the States? Regardless, I'm glad this exists and is close enough to me. It helps curb my cravings for a good rice noodle roll but it hasn't knocked it out of the park. I do want to return and try their congee at some point though!

One of the best tasting rice rolls that I've had! I love how casual this restaurant is, very fast and good service. Good pricing and of course, most importantly the food was very delicious and authentic. I highly recommend and would come back.

Been wanting to try this place for awhile. I've been targeted with the many social media videos but the potential lines scared me away from actually coming to try. Had friends in town and this was a must on their list so we went first thing at open. Luckily ...minimal wait! Being a chicken wings guy, I have no idea why everyone said to order the wings a rice noodle place - but I just had to try. Crispy and tasty! I could see why people liked it. The rice noodles - I had the brisket and the beef. Both were good - with the brisket one being better. The HK milk tea was good. So was the fried dough. The tab here can add up real quick , so be mindful of that. You order off a ipad tablet but it is sufficient and service is ok. Not sure if I'll be back. The food was good, guess I'm just not a fan of rice noodles. Nothing here for me screams that I need to come back to try more.

I prefer restaurants with smaller menus, especially when they focus on a particular type of dish or two like this place. If you enjoy the shrimp rice rolls that Dim Sum restaurants serve, you most definitely should try this place. They specialize in rice rolls and offer a variety of fillings like beef, pork, chicken, and fish. For vegetarian options, you can order regular egg, preserved egg, dough stick, and even just plain rice rolls. The rolls are freshly made to order and have a soft and chewy texture. A few things I noticed that differ from the Dim Sum shrimp rice rolls are, the sauce here is slightly more savory than the sweeter sauce served at Dim Sum restaurants and they add shredded cabbage to most of the rolls. They also add cabbage to their congee. I ordered the preserved egg rice roll to try since I've never had the black preserved egg before, and I was not a fan of it at all. The egg had a jelly textured that threw me off so unless you know exactly what it is and absolutely love it, I do not recommend ordering it. The space is open and clean. While their service isn't terrible, the staff often gather around the counter and chat away with each other which makes it difficult for them to be attentive to customers. However, once you catch their attention, they promptly attend to you.

I'm so happy we have a rice roll specialty place like this in Houston now! This is a great place to grab a quick bite. The flavors here are great, although I really wish it was a lot hotter when the food is delivered, not quite as piping hot as NYC Chinatown. I think the servers waited around before delivering it :( The portion size:price ratio here is just right, I think if they charged any more then everyone would rather go to a dim sum place. The curry fish balls were surprisingly addicting and reminded me of Vietnamese beef stew. I will definitely be back to try more items on their menu!

My friend wanted to try Yin Ji Chang Fen 银记肠粉 because she saw a post on Chow Down In Chinatown Facebook Group which gave it a raving review. For me and her, this was below our expectations. It's my fault. I should just go eat lunch at MIAN after we saw the unimpressed menu. Why do people spent hours waiting in line outside? I think it's because of the price. Merely $7.49 per dish. But the portion is small, like for a light breakfast at best. When I want rice rolls, I want them rolled separately to share and not breaking apart to let ingredients fall off. The congee was bland. My friend had to add salt. I eat bland food so I'm okay. The beef brisket had inconsistent textures. Some tender and some tough. Overall, just meh for me. She ordered a HK milk tea and she hated it. First few sips were ok and then it became watery as ice melted. I had same experience as Jeffrey P had as it opened 5 months ago, the food delivered to wrong table. Not sure how to train the employees to get food to the right table.

My friends and I really enjoyed our lunch at Yin Ji Chang Fen! We went shortly after opening time on a busy Saturday, so there was about a 20 minute wait. We all split a beef brisket rice roll, which was very tender and flavorful. Other items we ordered were the shrimp and beef rice roll, dough sticks, and the lai wan congee. I liked the texture of their rice rolls and it had a nice chew to it. The service was fairly quick and the portions were large. Overall the meal was very comforting, although it was warm outside.

Saw a lot of amazing reviews in Yelp and thought to try it out. After HK food street closed, been looking for a congee place. Upon entering, place is bright and clean. Came mid-afternoon so was not busy. I was a little confused if I should order in the counter first but was informed to grab a table if dining in. Ordered the sliced pork and century egg congee. The congee was big. Enough for 2 to share. Congee was tasty and had the right amount of pork and egg. In addition, they offer condiments on the table to adjust to your taste. In addition, people rave about the shrimp and beef Chong fan. Again, this is also good size. It was delicious and there was enough sauce to have every piece covered. The noodles were soft and thin. Tasted freshly made but am not an expert. Highly recommend coming here when craving for congee and Chong fan! Staff was friendly and pretty chatty. Will be back to try the other menu items like fired chicken wing which looked delicious another table.

A well known long lasting restaurant chain open they first location in Houston, they are known for the rice roll and congee here and they were definition tasty and the rice roll was bag as well. You can order by scanning the QR code at your table or talk to one of the waitstaff. We were there at 10:50AM as they open at 11AM on Sunday and there were already people waiting in line. We look at the menu ahead of time and known what we want for lunch.

Absolutely love that Houston has a Yin Ji Chang Fen, a Guangzhou based chain that specializes in steamed rice noodle rolls and congee! The city's lack of better Cantonese style delicacies no doubt makes this spot a top contender. With silky smooth steamed rice noodle rolls that fill the plate as their main menu item, there are many other food and drink items to try on any given visit. The apps like fried chicken wings, fried dough stick/youtiao, braised beef brisket are quite okay though a bit steep on the pricing. Even lettuce cooked in a house sauce is about $9. The rice rolls are a better deal ringing in anywhere from $4.45 for a plain rice roll with absolutely nothing in or on top of it, to $8.45 for something like their House Special Beef Brisket Rice Roll. The rice rolls have a lot of lettuce and some chives in them, which can be a breaker for some people who don't prefer all that jazz. The consistency of the rice noodle rolls can also be better, as I've gotten overdone shrimp that is more rubbery that normal inside my Shrimp with Chives Rice Roll. The House Special Shrimp and Beef with Chives Rice Roll is great for those who want the flavor of both meat and seafood. The House Special Beef Brisket Roll is one of their higher cost items on the menu which has pretty good flavor but is not as tender as preferred and is only topped onto the actual rice roll, not stuffed in it or nearly as much in portion size as the other rolls. The Pork Liver Congee is a bowl that can be easily shared by 3-4 persons so everyone can sample some, and soul warming to say the least (though the liver could be less chewy depending how long it is cooked). The service can be a hit or miss and somewhat confusing. Once you arrive and enter the door you'll either be seated right away if lucky or need to enter your details onto their electronic pad so that your number can be called when a table is ready for your party. In addition, the wait staff can be not very attentive and you may need to flag them down for additional items or even walk up to the counter to settle the bill. Overall a nice spot to fill the steamed rice noodle roll void in the city. So go ahead and pick out a milk tea or coffee and wash it all down!

I love that they serve the cheung fun (rice rolls) here hot, which fresh and made to order. We came during off peak dining time, 2:40 PM, no wait and was immediately seated. Our server quickly came by to take our order. We ordered: * Lai Wan Congee - comes with, fish, fish skin, squid, pork skin and topped with strips of eggs, ginger, lettuce, green onions, peanuts. This congee suits us well, not too thick or thin, great with a little chili oil. * house special brisket cheung fun - my favorite out of all the rice rolls we ordered. Note that the brisket is topped on the rolls, not rolled inside. * shrimp with chives cheung fun - good portions of shrimp * beef with chives cheung fun - the brisket one is better in my opinion * trio curry - comes with squid, fish balls, fish stomach. The restaurant is clean and well lit. There is plenty of parking. I noticed there are lines during weekend lunch hours so avoid if you don't want to wait.

Yin Ji Chang Fen is a Cantonese restaurant focused on congee and rice noodle (cheung fun). I ordered the R2 Shrimp with Chives Roll, R3 House Special Shrimp and Beef with Chives, and C7 Crunchy Carp Congee. The rice rolls had fresh shrimp, and the rice noodle itself were fresh and soft. The congee was on the blander side than I would have preferred, but the fish was like the description--crunchy. The service was fast and efficient, and the inside was clean. I do think of the rice rolls as more of snack and would come for them when I want something light and not too heavy.

Waited for all the initial hype and lines to die down and have come here a couple times now. The service is good and the food comes out pretty quick. Lunch time is quite busy still and you may have a short wait. This place is better suited for smaller parties of 2-4. They can put tables together for you but depending on how busy they are it might not be possible. The food is tasty and this the the first place of the sort in Houston that I can remember to serve rice rolls 腸粉. The difference here is that the rice noodle layer is much thinner than what you would get at any dimsum place. So instead of the feeling like you just ate a bunch of dough, you actually get to taste and enjoy what they have inside the roll. I've had the beef brisket, the shrimp with chives, and the beef with chives. They were all good. And the soy sauce they use is perfectly salted and sweet at the same time. Their fried chicken wings are also excellent. The only downside was the milk tea that I had. It did taste watered down, and given that they charge $5.25 for cold instead of $3.75 for the hot version, feels bad. If you are looking for a lighter meal, this is a great option in the Chinatown area. Can't wait to bring my family along next time, which hopefully they can accommodate young children (I did not check to see if they have high chairs and boosters). A welcome addition to Chinatown and the old Dynasty plaza!

A popular franchise finally makes its way to one of the food capitols of America. This rice roll place is BUSY for good reason. Arrived at 12 after Sunday mass and there were 10 parties ahead of us with a 1hr wait. The preserved egg and pork congee is a must. You can taste all the components that go into such a simple and homey dish. The fried chicken wings was the next best thing if you like something piping hot and crispy and moist. I would say the rice rolls are solid - better texture and more variety from your typical dim sum restaurant. My only qualm is the lettuce they add to all their rolls mute the taste and make it a little more watery than I prefer. With that being said the brisket rice roll had the most flavor despite it only being your beef noodle soup meat on top of rice rolls. This was the only one that was able to cut through that watery taste

The food of this place is alright it's not bad but it's not anything amazing. The rice roll are thick and honestly would prefer if it is cut into pieces due to the thicker rice roll causes it to be harder to break apart the roll. The congee was okay just nothing amazing, bread stick was good probably one of the better items in my opinion, curry fish ball was rather bland curry flavor was there but weak so I was disappointed since I came hoping for the curry fish ball I can expect from Hong Kong. Last the coffee tea for iced was watered down the flavor was really weak compared to places I've been to and after trying a hot one here I definitely recommend the hot one if you want to experience a little more flavor. The ambiance is nice I actually liked the look of the place it's clean simple and got music playing. The service in my opinion was a little disappointing. The waitress came around twice and when we didn't get the curry trio we ordered I had my hand up trying to the her attention but saw a group of workers on the phone so I ended up getting up and going to the front to ask about my missing item. Overall for someone looking to try rice rolls it's worth giving a try if you live in Houston or you're in the area if you were to try coffee tea I recommend getting the hot, congee is your classic congee, and the curry fish ball lacked flavor. Went recently on a Saturday and cannot believe there was still a line. Tables started to turn around an hour after opening. Since we were the first group in the restaurant, service was not bad for us. I enjoyed the rice rolls, but wish they were pre cut! It was hard to tear things apart with chopsticks and the fillings would fall out. My favorite was the house special shrimp and beef and of course the fried dough stick. I'm surprised people like the beef brisket- it's just the meat you have in beef noodle soup on top of a plain sheet of rice roll. Wasn't my favorite. Rice porridge was a-okay nothing stand out. Recommend the fried chicken - crispy and delicious.

Nice quiet little place. Great spot to talk and catch up with friends. Food was simple, but good. I especially enjoyed the chicken wings. Crispy and super juicy! The congee, rice rolls, were solid and comforting. You can definitely share the bowl of congee by the way! They're huge! If I can be honest I have never met a nicer owner and staff. I came with 5 other friends and they surprised me with a cake for my birthday and the owner asked what did I order and gifted my meal for free. Never experienced that before! All staff is very smiley and friendly as well. Would come again.

Get in my belly. Had some interest in trying this spot since I love Cantonese Chang fen and congee so met the bestie on a Sunday afternoon and after about an hour wait was ready and willing. Interior was clean and organized and bright. They were at capacity and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Our order: chicken + mushrooms rice rolls, house special shrimp + beef rice rolls, seafood congee and chicken wings Chicken + mushrooms rice rolls (4/5) - the chicken + mushrooms were seasoned nicely and the chicken was very tender, the sauce wasn't overpowering and complemented the silky rice rolls HS shrimp + beef rice rolls (5/5) - the beef, the beef, the beef was so tender and paired well with the shrimp Seafood congee (5/5) - came out piping hot and packed with seafood, ginger strips, lettuce, and peanuts; the congee itself had a subtle yet tasty flavor and paired well with the seafood that filled the bowl and the nice hint of the ginger made it even better. I was not sure about the peanuts but actually ended up enjoying the crunch and texture. Chicken wings (5/5) - the skin was so crispy and the meat was tender and had a nice flavoring to it, they paired it with a sweet chilli sauce but they were tasty plain Ignore some of the low star reviews - I think a lot of people are use to the American style dim sum rice rolls and congee. Sorry not sorry but the star is the rice rolls, the thin silkiness of the roll and the complimentary sauce that is much better than the standard thick black soy sauce that is often ladled all over the rolls drowning them. I think it's worth a try and can't wait to return. Hopefully others will open their minds and palates and love this place as much as we did!

If you like rice rolls, this is heaven. Yes it will be a carb heavy meal and it will not be stuffed to the brim with meat, but the silky, chewy, soft, smooth texture of the rice rolls carried. I love rice rolls so much I could slurp on these all days. The soy sauce is a bit sweet, but the chili oil gives it a bit of tanginess which was perfect. I added the chili oil to everything. Lai Wan Congee was interesting. Eggs, fried dough, peanuts, fish, shrimp, and pork I believe. The taste was pleasant and light, seasoned just right, and the peanuts added good texture. Lemon black tea was extremely good. So refreshing. Strong tea flavor, lemon juice, and a tad sweet. Perfect ending to any meal. They're still in soft opening so I feel they are playing it safe with some of the dishes. Will return to try the more unique items on they have on the menu.

I always vow to not wait in line for food in Houston, yet I found myself waiting 45 minutes to eat something that I thought I was very familiar with. The taste and texture of the Chang Fen (rice rolls) rivaled the best I have had in Hong Kong. The Congee was warming, savory, and comforting. The fried chicken wings were crispy and incredibly juicy. While the food is not going to be 100% life changing, it is definitely crave-able. This place will be a place I frequent come the colder winter month(s). The service was on the slower side, but we visited during their soft opening so I assume their kitchen and wait staff were still all getting used to the new environment or still in training. I would suggest looking over the menu and being ready to order as soon as you are seated.

Finally made it here after so many weeks of it being packed. I still had to wait 30 mins but I was going to. The restaurant looks clean and fresh. Needs more bathrooms since women were using the men's bathroom instead of waiting in the long line for women. There's only one stall each. Food was overall good. The congee was very clean and plain. I flavor mine with the curry and soy since I'm not typically a plain tasting congee type of girl. Staff is nice but because they are busy the tables were still dirty between guests. They kindly wiped it again if asked. Slight language barrier and I do speak the language but it has more to do with the noise since it's so busy. The shrimp rolls were very good, nicely seasoned. The brisket was also good. The cruellers were great, especially in the congee. Ran into a few friends coming in as I was leaving. They love this place. It's just OK for me but not $100 for 3 ppl enough to return, especially since I think I can do the congee better. I can't do the rolls like them though.

This was in my opinion a fair experience, the food wasn't the best but it was good enough for me to come back and order again. My friends and I arrived after 2:15pm after lunch rush and it was still packed. We went on their waiting list and were seated 10 minutes later which wasn't a bad wait. The staff were accommodating but some of them seemed very stressed. So the menu is simple, they specialize in rice rolls & congees. This is not dim sum so don't expect them to have a full menu of dim sum items. Here's some items I've ordered. * Fried dough stick- over-fried but it was not greasy as I thought it'll be. 2/5 * Chicken wings- sadly this outshined their two main dish's that they're known for. The skin was crispy, the chicken itself came out pipping hot and I had to wait a couple of minutes eat it. It was also juicy and pretty flavorful. I would order this again. 4/5 * Plain congee- plain is definitely an understatement. I know congees are usually bland but not this bland. It was flavorless to the point that I had to add a whole bunch of salt, pepper and chili oil. This is a good dish if you're under the weather. 1.5/5 * Shrimp with chives rice roll- not enough shrimp to fulfill the roll itself. I didn't really taste any chives either. Not bad but I wouldn't order it again. 3/5 * Trio curry- the sauce was bland & I had to doctor it up with some salt and pepper. The fish balls were good and surprisingly the squid was soft and tendered. I was expecting for it to be chewy and rubbery. The pork skin was terrible. 2.5/5 Overall, it was alright. The fried chicken is the only reason I'll come back. My friend ordered the house special shrimp & beef with chives rice roll & charsiu bbq pork rice roll. She said it was pretty good. The ambiance is simple and clean, will I come back? Yes.

Everytime I pass by this place, there's a line that goes out of the restaurant. Apparently this is a popular chain in Guangdong. They have a few locations in NA with this being their first in Texas. Thankfully, on a weekday evening there wasn't much wait. I came with my parents after a long drive back into town. The inside was still busy and nearly packed. We were immediately seated. The interior is very clean and has a modern but traditional feel. My parents had very high expectations for this place since they grew up eating Cantonese cuisine. For rice noodles, we got the house special brisket, pork with chives, and shrimp with chives rice. Then we also got the lai wan and crunchy carp congee with an order of dough sticks. Out of the rice noodles, my personal favorite was the house special brisket. It was flavorful and just slightly chewy (in a good way). The other rice noodles were good as well. My only issue was that they weren't cut into smaller pieces - it comes in large pieces that are a bit difficult to eat if you intend on sharing. I'd recommend that whoever is bringing out the dishes to offer to cut the rice noodles, whether you're in a group or not, similar to dim sum restaurants so that they're just easier to eat. My parents also had some critiques. They felt that the soy sauce was a bit too sweet and that the rice noodles didn't come out hot enough. I didn't think so but I've read some other Yelp reviews mentioning the former. We really liked the congee across the board. The lai wan congee has a good variety with egg strips, fish belly, bits of dough sticks, and gorgon nuts. The nuts provided a great crunchy texture that I felt really elevated the rest of the ingredients. I thought the carp congee was seem plain compared to the variety that's offered through lai wan. However, the carp really was crisp. If you add dough sticks to it, then it really does take it to a whole other level since the fried dough has some of that oily, greasy flavor that goes well with the clean profile of the congee. In terms of service, all of the staff was nice and friendly. It did seem slightly disorganized at times from what I saw with other tables. I think they may still be in the process of getting everyone trained. Nevertheless, it's understandable with all of the hype that Yin Ji Chang Fen has been getting. I'd personally come back again. Hopefully, some improvements like the ones I mentioned could be made. I think that would take this place up to five stars.

Taste was great. Ambiance was nice though the table was very small and cluttered. Service was hit or miss. Here are the details: We went on a rainy Friday evening around 7 pm. This restaurant is located off Bellaire and Corporate in the Dynasty Center where Snowy Village used to be. The parking can be tight during busy times. We got lucky and found a spot quickly. We walked in, restaurant was full, and was asked to wait outside. It was just a few minutes before a large party left and we were seated. The wait time was brief. We looked through the menu, placed our order, and the food started to come out about 20 minutes later. Being our first time, we tried a variety like the chicken wings, shrimp rice roll with chives and lettuce, beef rice roll (it's called brisket), congee, and a HK milk tea to finish. The food temperature and flavor were great, and that's enough for me to make a return visit soon. One annoying part about the rice rolls is that it comes out as one large rectangle, not precut at all nor are knives or forks or spoons provided to cut it into pieces. So, if you're going to do family style, just expect to awkwardly cut it up using wooden chopsticks. I'm OK with it, just pointing it out. In terms of service, our waitress was nice and fairly knowledgeable about the menu. The hit or miss part: - we were served the chicken wings first with no plates. We just sat there waiting for plates while the chicken got cool. - very stingy with the napkins. - our table was missing the condiments tray so we took one from an empty table - our table was super tight and they did not clear out finished dishes, causing more clutter - check did not come so I got up to pay at the counter to then be told that I can pay at the table Overall, it was tasty food during what I think is still a soft opening. Enjoy!

Inside the restaurant was clean and aesthetically pleasing. Service felt slow even though there was only one other table. The noodles were amazing, it greatly pleased my Cantonese parents. Serving size was a bit small. Overall not bad.

Well food is 4 stars. Service is 1 star. We were ignored. 1 waiter was watching tv. The other was in back refilling the sauce containers. We tried 3 noodle rolls the chashu pork. Shrimp n chives but it had no chives hahaha, and fish noodles roll. Drinks We tried were the hk milk tea and the sparkling blackcurrant lemonade both tasty. Will we go back? I'm not really sure. We shall see.

Taste is very authentic and straight from HK. We waited 30-45 min in line, but honestly, I think it was very worth it. We ordered Lai Wan Congee, brisket rice roll, crispy chicken wings, and HK milk tea. - Lai Wan Congee (9/10)- filled to the brim with toppings- shrimp, pork, fried dough sticks, eggs, fish, etc. Taste was delicately balanced with ginger and nicely salted. Honestly my favorite thing I ate here. I haven't had better congee in the states tbh. - Brisket rice roll (7/10)- the rice roll itself was delicious, so light, smooth, and silky. I probably wouldn't get the brisket one again, it was just like beef noodle soup chucks on top of a rice roll, but nonetheless, still a good try. - Crispy chicken wings (9/10)- delicious and juicy and crispy. Very nicely done. Will continue to order this. - HK milk tea (7/10)- not bad, but we already have our staple place to get HK milk tea in chinatown (HK cafe), and this couldn't quite compare to it. Service was a bit slow, especially because they are still new and the hype is still real, but I will gladly be back. Many tables inside and I can imagine the service getting faster once the lines die down.

Ok. There was a little line but if you go in a pair, you'll get a table quickly. So.... Food was good. Not stupid good but good. Chicken wings tasted boiled and then fried (not my cup of chicken wings). All the rice rolls were good but I'm not used to the lettuce being in there. Kinda weird. I don't know if that's good or bad, just different.... The soy sauce is GOOD. Like GOOD GOOD. I wish I had more on the side. The ice they use is the kind that sticks together and will fall on your face while you drink.... I never suggest using a straw (save the turtles) but.... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Would I go back? For $7 per plate/roll.... Maybe. Was it good? Yes.... Better than Crown dim sum? Eh.... I'm not planning on coming back. Not anytime soon. The service was not premier. Wife yelled at me the last time I said something mean on here.

I came here to pick up some specialty rice noodle for my mom and myself for a Tuesday lunch. It was quite busy, but they were able to prepare my food and drinks and 15 minutes. I really like how they package the food and bagged it up for two people as I requested. However, there's not a good spot you could just stand and wait so I felt like I was in everyone's way. I felt bad. The interior side is bright and clean. The staff were nice and responsive. The food is very carb heavy and fluffy . I would prefer more of filling and the soy sauce in it . Because it was mostly rice noodles, I felt like the price was high. Two trays is enough for one person. The Hong Kong milk tea was pretty tasty. It tastes like they had it with condensed milk. Parking is free and out front.

It's a brand new spot in China town, so we want to try it. I was surprised by the menu. Only few items were there. I'm a big back for congee and dim sum. So I enjoyed. However, for other people, the menus are too blend. The tastes were too blend. Wish they have more options and more flavorful.

Come during off peak hours like on a weekday, for weekend after 2pm otherwise there's a long wait ahead for you. Staff was super nice though, and food came fairly quick. The Chang Fen and the rice soup was amazing!

I'd give this place a 3.5/5! I came in on a Saturday night around 7 PM and there were plenty of seats open so thankfully there wasn't a wait. I ordered: HK Style Milk Tea Shrimp with Chives Rice Rolls Charsiu BBQ Pork Rice Rolls Golden Fried Chicken Wings The service was standard and the food came out within 10-15 minutes. The HK style milk tea was decent! I could properly taste the tea and it wasn't overly sweet (some people may prefer their milk tea's very sweet but I prefer it this way so I was pleasantly surprised). The Rice rolls were both delicious! The charsiu was seasoned well and the shrimp was okay! The rice rolls were sturdy enough where it woudn't fall apart when trying to pick it up but they were also soft enough where it was able to be split when breaking it apart to share. I will say though, the price is pretty steep compared to the cheung fun you get at a dim sum restaurant. Not to mention, their shrimps are much larger and the rice rolls there have a more satisfying texture. I'm not saying this place's cheung fun is bad by any means but I would personally get rice rolls at an actual dim sum restaurant. As for the chicken wings, they were the most juicy, crispy wings I've had in a while! This spot really nailed the crunch factor and I was blown away by how juicy every bite was. The only thing I wish was different was the flavor. Although the sweet chili sauce helped, the wings itself were lacking in flavor. Overall, not a bad spot and I hope to try their congee because everyone has been raving about it in the reviews!

Brisket rice roll: 8/10 Beef congee: 6/10 Shrimp and beef rice roll: 8/10 Egg rice roll: 7/10 Chicken wings: 8/10 Came here on a Saturday morning right before they opened but it seemed like they opened the doors a few minutes early as the tables were already filling up at 10:50 AM. The brisket rice roll was our favorite rice roll but the beef and shrimp roll was also tasty. The beef congee was pretty bland but you can add salt to your liking. It also has a ginger flavor so be aware. Chicken wings were crisp and juicy. Overall, we would probably only come back for the chicken wings and brisket rice roll.

Tried to go here on Friday. No menu. You have to scan a qr code. Cell service inside the building sucks. No wifi. Took FOREVER for the menu to load. Menu is 95% rice rolls and congee. Crap for variety. decided to leave and go somewhere better.

Got the lai wan congee and the brisket rice roll. The congee was yummy and flavorful but I should've gotten more of the youtiao because the crunch was yummy. The rice roll was good but wasn't anything I would rave about Got there at opening and it filled up pretty quickly. I would come back for some more congee.

Having had my share of Yin Ji Chang Fen (银记肠粉) overseas, I couldn't be more excited to have them in Houston. The fact they chose Bellaire Chinatown for their latest location adds credibility to the city's largest ethnic enclave and brings another well-known Chinese chain to the masses. They've done an excellent job of transitioning into the former Snowy Dessert Bar (#1) space and the buzz has yet to subside -- even after more than a month since opening. Dynasty Plaza has never been more thankful. To be clear for the novices: this is not dim sum. This is a specialty rice noodle (cheung fun, chang fen) shop that has dishes featured in dim sum, but this is more akin to a Chinese bakery that serves buns than a full dim sum experience. The rice noodle prices from their initial soft opening menu vary between $5.50-$8. The $1.45 for extras such as corn, lettuce, and chives seems feels a tinge steep. Of the rice noodles I've tried, the beef brisket (牛腩腸粉) stood out as being tender and flavorful. The zha-leung dough stick (炸兩腸粉) had just the right amount of crispiness and enough oil to make it indulgent and not overwhelming. Each noodle roll comes "standard" with chives and lettuce, which can be a bit much for diners. (#2) Ultimately the portions are solid and the texture for the rice noodle is smooth and nicely steamed. Their congee, on the other hand, was average. I appreciated that each order was enough for four small bowls, the heavy-handed use of lettuce and chives didn't sit well with my group. The fish slices (魚片粥) were solid, but as predicted, the century egg with pork (皮蛋瘦肉粥) was the definitely the way to go. I did wish for more seasoning, but it works well as a comforting carb-heavy dish. Expect weekend wait times to range from 20-40 minutes depending on group size. With only a couple of wait chairs inside, most folks will end up queueing up outside, which could be tough depending on the weather. I'd recommend shooting for the early evening to avoid the lunch crowds and being flexible with time on the weekends. The interior is bright and welcoming, with a some nice full-wall decor and front-facing LCDs. Seating is sufficient for small groups, but larger parties may have trouble fitting comfortably. The bathrooms are clean (for now) and the space feels lively when full. The biggest area for improvement is the service. While I expect this to improve over time, the current staff appears to be in training. During my first visit, our Chinese-speaking group was a bit flustered trying to place the order with a waitress who was trying hard to keep up with her electronic tablet and noting she couldn't communicate in Cantonese / Mandarin. The second visit was in a smaller group, was slightly smoother, but minor issues still popped up, likely due to how busy it was. (#3) Houston has been devoid of HK Style cafes that focus on congee and rice noodles, so Yin Ji's arrival is a major win for the city. Surprisingly, we went on a Saturday night around 6:30pm and there was no wait. They've typically still had a wait time so I think we lucked out. This place specializes in thin rice rolls. We tried the house special shrimp and beef W/ chives rice roll, chicken and mushroom w/chives rice roll, lai wan congee (which was a congee with a mixed variety of items in it like peanuts, fish, shrimp, etc) and ordered hot milk teas. Overall, I would say we actually enjoyed the meal, I did like the thinness on the rice rolls and taste of the sauce with it. The hot milk teas wasn't overly sweet so I enjoyed it as well. Prices are a bit more than your dim sum places. We'll be back, but worth a try if you want some rice rolls!

Great Chang fen. Everything ordered here came out quick and slurping delicious . Service was great and environment was clean. We can understand how this place can be very busy during peak hours. Will be back for more of the fried dough Chang fen and beef shrimp combo

My friend and I wanted to try some of the Chinese food Houston has to offer and both agreed that some Chang Fen sounded great. We arrived 15 minutes after they opened and they already had a line out the door! We decided to put our name on the waiting list and waste a few minutes at the claw machine next door. After grabbing a few plushies, we came back and was seated immediately. We ordered the house special, and a few other chang fens. I took a bite out of the house special chang fen and my friend described my face as if I was that one food critic in that movie Ratatouille. Holy balls was that good. All the other noodle rolls were good but that one made out trip special. Would definitely come back here just to try out their congee. This was definitely the best highlight of our Houston Trip.

Food was extra ordinary! Taste very perfect! I feel like the food is very home made! Taste really good! The rice porridge was so good! But aside from that all the food we ordered taste really good. Service was very good, friendly, and accommodating Ambiance was good, clean and spacious.

After a mistimed first attempt to grab breakfast at this new Chinatown spot (why do they open at 11 am??), we went again this past weekend and were successfully seated in the first round of tables. Here's my thoughts on what we tried: Rice rolls (腸粉) - In the words of Queen Riri, this is what you came for! Our shrimp and chive rice rolls were steamed freshly to perfection, though we noted the filling inside was somewhat unevenly scattered. A single order is about 50% larger than similar plates at dim sum joints and will definitely leave you satisfied, but bring some friends along so you can try multiple fillings and tastes. Congee (粥) - Tons of places in Chinatown do congee (rice porridge), but Yin Ji is one of the few that make it a central part of the menu. A great comfort food, especially if feeling under the weather! We went with the classic pork and preserved egg, which was served piping hot and laden with delicious goodies. The congee itself has a savory base and is a great medium in which to dip a necessary side order of crispy fried dough sticks (油炸鬼). Chicken wings - Although we ordered these as an appetizer, they may have been left off the original order as they didn't arrive until after we had finished the other dishes and checked on their status with the server. They're battered in a light coating and fried in oil that's basically the temperature of the Sun. The juicy, golden wings pull off the classic HK-style diner (茶餐廳) taste, though I felt the sweet chili sauce on the side was irrelevant. Beverages - The tea here is strong, smooth, and - most importantly - not too sweet! It is made with evaporated milk to deliver a rich, concentrated dairy taste balancing darkly brewed tea. If you're in need of a caffeinated knockout, try the mix of coffee and milk tea known as a yuenyeung (鴛鴦). Service was a bit chaotic, with some servers taking electronic orders, others using paper, and dishes going all over the place, but I really do think they're making an attempt to maximize service efficiency while things are hectic. I'm optimistic they'll settle into a more practiced routine once the opening rush subsides a bit. All in all, if you can get here without having to wait too long in line, you should definitely stop by for brunch - here's hoping breakfast will be an option in the future, haha!

I grew up having Chang Fen at various places in NYC Chinatown, and I was excited that this place popped up on my TikTok feed. I was picking up lunch (on a Friday) at another location with my wife, and saw this place. I was excited to try it out. It was fully packed for lunch, so a good sign so far. I ordered one dish, the classic Beef Chang Fen. The person who took my order said it would be 10 mins. It took 35 mins for one order! It shouldn't be that hard to make this dish. If you ever see videos of this being made at a restaurant, at most a few minutes. My wife got her lunch and a boba tea, and finished it before I came out with my order. When I got home, already in an annoyed mood, I got more annoyed when ate the food. It lacked the beef (thinking of the little old ladies from the 80's Wendy's commercial "Where's the beef?!?" For $8 I expected a lot more than what I got. It was only two rice rolls too. Most dim sum places would give you three, and a good amount of the stuffing. It was almost like they put a few small spoonful dollop of beef. I'm sorry, but I don't think I would be going back anytime soon. Maybe in a few months after they work out the kinks.

I've always been a fan of a good rice roll at dim sum restaurants, so the opening of Yin Ji Chang Fen was music to my ears. As far as I know, Yin Ji is the only place in Houston that still serve fresh made-from-scratch fried dough in rice rolls instead of using frozen grocery store fried dough. Along with the rice rolls, Yin Ji's congee is also the ultimate Asian comfort food. I tried the Lai Wan Congee, and the portion sizes are fit for two, full of natural flavors, and only $7.50 for the big bowl of fresh ingredients filled to the rim. The reason for the four stars instead of five is because the staff are still relatively new to their training, not knowing the ingredients within their dishes and rushing customers for payment before they're close to finishing their meal. However, I believe this is something that can improve with time and practice. My other suggestion is regarding the HK style milk tea, which was slightly on the sweet side and a bit different from what I was expecting after my recent trip to HK. I wish there was a way to adjust the sweetness level as is the approach abroad. Pro tip: if you plan to order more than one rice roll, add your order over time, otherwise, the rice roll might stick together as it cools.

This review is during soft opening, so take this with a grain of salt. Was excited to try out the new cheng fen place, was honestly something missing in Houston Chinatown. First thing that I noticed when I walked in, there was no clear line for checking in. People were crowding the entrance, thankfully one person noticed me looking lost and told me that there was one employee that was taking down names and party numbers. However, this employee was scurrying between the cashier POS and the front door. When I flagged down the employee to get my name on the waitlist, it sounded like some other people didn't know they were supposed to be putting their name down. I ordered a variety of food, fried dough, sliced pork and preserved egg congee, shrimp & beef cheng fen, and iced milk tea. The waitress that took my order spoke mandarin with me, and saw me point to the shrimp & beef rice roll. But she must have not heard me correctly as I would later find out. The congee and fried dough stick came out relatively quickly. Fried dough stick, simple, nothing amazing would say 3.5/5 as it tasted slightly better than a supermarket bought fried dough stick. Congee 5/5 large pieces of sliced pork and flavorful pieces of preserved egg and ginger, generous portion. Sadly the second half of my order was severely delayed. Another waitress came by and dropped of a cheng fen, however it was the shrimp with chives rice roll not the house special shrimp & beef that I had originally ordered. I pointed this out to them and they said they would fix it. I waited for another 20 minutes, before I started noticing people who sat after me, get their drinks and food, and my iced milk tea and beef/shrimp cheng fen still hadn't arrived. A couple of waiters noticed, and even the original hostess asked me if I was waiting for something... got the same response "they are working on it." Cue a whole hour of waiting for my cheng fen. Later I got the same shrimp with chives cheng fen (still not the original one that I wanted to order). At this point I was too tired to explain that this was not what I orginally asked for, and I ate it. It was doughy and not in the good QQ way. It tasted too much like the rice flour and not enough umami. 2/5 for taste. I have paid less at dim sum places for better tasting cheng fen. Hoping that they figure out a more efficient way of sitting and taking orders from patrons, and work through the communication issues that they had today. Maybe I'm a one-off, but I probably won't be coming back here for a while. Everyone was very apologetic and nice, but it felt like the issues on the floor were not communicated to the kitchen in an efficient manner. I give Yin Ji Chang Fen 2 qq's, out of 5.

Have gone here a few times now (once with a friend and another time with my parents) and they all loved it. When I went with my friend, it was a random weekday at 3pm and we were the only ones there. When I went with my parents on a Sunday (July 5th, 2025), there was a line outside. There was a kiosk outside to sign up for a waiting list. There were 7 people ahead of us, but we waited only 10 minutes for our table of 5. Both times the service is very quick and friendly. They get your order fast and the food comes out promptly afterwards. Both times we had the same really sweet, friendly server. I didn't ask for her name, but she had reddish hair. We all thought the rice rolls were much better than ones we've had at any dim sum restaurant. The soy sauce that they used is very delicious too. The rice rolls are not sitting and soaking in the soy sauce and it is not too overly salty like at some dim sum restaurants. We got the congee with the preserved duck egg and pork when we went with my parents and they said the quality of all the ingredients was very good. The egg wasn't bland and had a nice eggy, creamy taste that the century eggs usually have. The wings were very juicy on the inside and skin was crispy on the outside.

New restaurant for rice rolls! Small interior with tables so close to each other. Food came out pretty quick but server was no where to be found after that. Had to flag em down. Pretty easy menu to order from. Their beef brisket rice roll was my favorite. The beef was very soft and flavorful. Each rice roll order is under $8 and you'll def be full off 2 of them.

Let me start and say man, the people here are super amazing. Ben (the owner) was also excited to know we were celebrating my friend's bday here. Staff were super patient and helpful to decide what to get. The place seems brand new and super clean! Our table had 6 people (but we ordered for 7, one to go) and it came out about 108$. for going out, thats a steal! Now all in fairness we were celebrating a friend's bday so just her meal was comped. Now the gritty, the congee was delicious. Super simple, flavorful, good texture.... but that's about it. It has an elegant simplicity but its lacking the wow factor. I think I would have loved to have some dried fried onion bits, or something crunchy to give it a lil more umph The ricerolls were also equally as simple. Nothing really notable to stand out and the rice roll itself lacks a bit of the springy texture you'd get accustomed to in other local dimsum places. My table got a variety of things to try and my least favorite was the char siu: it just overpowered all the other dishes. The fried chicken tho was amazing! I could easily come back just for that. I wasnt a big fan of the HK milk tea. It wasnt bad, it just wasnt strong enough tea flavor, not sweet, not bland... just kinda middle ground. In short Yin Ji Chang Fen has good food for really affordable pricing. Would I go out of my way out for it? No. But if I'm in the area and am looking for something nice to eat? Sure. But I'm gonna find it hard to not visit other places before coming back here again.
