I don't want to wait in line for food so I came here for some dim sum. I figure there should be plenty of seating because it is a food court. For the dim sum. Just like other places in Chinatown, it is freshly made, shrimp dumplings is full of shrimp, no extra stuffings to cut cost. I like all my order except the fried dough. Maybe the oil they use, taste kinda weird. Overall everything is good, worth a visit if you don't mind eating in a food court.

This is the closest to taishanese rice noodle rolls you’ll ever get in Chicago, amazing food. They will give you a device that beeps when your food is ready to be picked up at the counter

Yes! 👍🏽 I'd say taste wise it's better than Ming Hin cuisine which used to be my go to place for dim sum. I loved the corn shrimp fritter and wanton soup 😍 it would be nice to have more meat on rice noodles. Bean curd roll w chicken was not crispy as i expected but the filling was surprisingly good as well.

Ying Dim Sum is amazing! The food is fresh and tasty. The wontons, fried siu mai, and pork crepe are my favorites. The pork crepes are soft and full of flavor, the wonton soup is delicious, and the fried siu mai is crispy outside and juicy inside, and the staff is very friendly. The service is fast, and the food feels just like real dim sum from Guangzhou. I love this place and will definitely come back!

Dim sum place inside 88 market food court that serves some unique items not available at other places in the city. First, their rice rolls are quite thin and authentic, you can add an egg for 50 cents. Much better than the gloppy versions at places like minghin. The Mochi bbq pork bun is also quite good in terms of texture but a bit on the sweet side. They also serve a wonton soup that is pretty awesome for only $8. It comes with a ton of mini wontons that you don’t find at many other Chinese places. Only downside is this place can get crowded and they do take a bit longer than other places since their kitchen is smaller.,

Arguably one of the most authentic dining places in Chicago's Chinatown neighborhood. The choices are wide and the food is very authentically Chinese, as pointed by my Chines friend who introduced me to this restaurant. Everything is fresh and delicious. Prices could be a bit cheaper since this place runs like a fast food restaurant; you order, pay, wait for your food to be prepared and then you take your tray to one of the tables in a sort of food court seating area. Coffee is not available but you can bring your own from elsewhere.

I didn’t have breakfast before going to the market for grocery. So I decided to grab some quick bites from the food court there. I ordered four different dim sum items, and they were all very delicious. Price was quite reasonable. I also appreciate how nice and friendly the staff working there was. What a surprise in a grocery store food court!

Visited this dim sum spot after hearing that it surpasses Ming Xuan in taste and offers a more affordable menu. I'd agree that it's a great value - two of us ate until we were stuffed for only $38. The standout dishes were the pork rice noodle roll with egg and the ribs, both were excellent. The BBQ pork bun and siu mai were also very tasty. The sticky rice was alright - better than Ming Xuan's, but not by much. The wonton was a bit disappointing for me, as a dumpling enthusiast. Although not bad, it didn't live up to my high expectations. The meat quality was just average, though the skin was pleasingly thin. Overall, worth a try for the delicious dim sum and great value.

Very good for what it is. Just take it in context. This is a stand in the food court of 88 Marketplace so the atmosphere is minimal. Service is efficient and the food is made to order so there will be a short wait. What you will receive is hot, fresh, and tasty. Portions are reasonably sized and priced very well. For $12 I got more food than I really should have eaten but I enjoyed every bite. There may very well be better dim sum in the area but Ying's is a great choice for lunch or a snack while you're shopping.

Ying Dim Sum is located in the food court of the 88 Marketplace supermarket of Chicago's Chinatown. This place really hit the spot since I was getting tired of eating American food throughout Chicago. My friends and I tried to order a few items from every spot along the food court to make the most of our time here. FOOD/DRINK: Shrimp Rice Crepe (4/5) - Served on a styrofoam plate. The rice paper part was a lot thinner than I am used to. For any Vietnamese people, it was similar to the texture of bánh ướt. My order came with six large shrimps, which is more than I'd expect in this economy. It was doused in a nice, sweet soy sauce that I enjoyed. Siu Mai (4/5) - Got the pork and shrimp su mai. There were four fat pieces, and they were pretty good. Tasted like pretty standard siu mai, and I always think they taste better when dipped in a bit of soy sauce and chili oil. Hong Kong Style Milk Tea (3/5) - I lowkey don't remember much about this drink... I must've been pretty neutral about it. Not much to say I guess... but it was finished, so that's something! SERVICE: Unlike the other stalls of the busy food court, I think I interacted with someone at the register to place my order. She was super nice, and I don't remember there being a super long wait time. You'll receive your food on a tray. Once you finish your food, just return your tray to its designated spot. TLDR// Not sure if it's because I was getting sick of American food, but I really enjoyed what I had here in the moment. Post-craving clarity... it's probably pretty standard dim sum and nothing super special. However, I will still give it all its stars since it served as a much needed break from Western foods. It's also kinda cool to eat amidst a busy supermarket.

When I first found this place on Yelp, I didn't entirely understand that it was inside of a food court. I thought I was going to get like a sit down dim sum experience however this was hands-down probably the best meal I had while on my trip to Chicago. The woman at the register suggested some items that I could try And how much I should order. I went with shrimp, shumai, a chicken and vegetable, dumpling, sesame balls, and pork bao buns. It definitely was way too much food, but I really enjoyed getting to try a little bit of everything. Thinking about my meal here makes my stomach grumble. This was honestly one of my favorite meals while visiting Chicago! Love the casual vibe, friendly service and deliciously fresh made food. It's really fun to walk around the market while you wait for your order. They give you a buzzer so you can head back to the counter when your food is ready. They also have lots of delicious sauces you can top your dim sum with! Highly recommend!

It's located in 88 Marketplace, about .5 miles from Chinatown. You go upstairs and there's a food court with a bakery, sushi, dim sum, kbbq, Szechuan and more offerings. I opted to have dim sum and there was a small line but you order at the counter and you receive a buzzer, it call came out within 10 minutes. The service was fast and polite. They are very efficient. They have small styrofoam plates, chopsticks, plastic silverware to the left of the counter to pick up, along with small bowls for your chili oil and soy sauce. I liked the steamed bao buns, ha cao, shu mai, chinese donut, and beef rice rolls, and shrimp rice rolls were all delicious. I've been craving rice rolls once I left NYC last year. The ones here are good too, although the meats are not rolled within the rice roll, more like placed on top. The sweet soup sauce ladled on top wasn't over powering the flavors of the rice roll, it complimented it well. I will recommend for those out of town to stop by. There's lots of food options, quite an experience and great price.

- FOOD - I really like their beef rice rolls. They add this soy sauce that's so savory and slightly sweet it just tastes so good like damn. The Siu mai is fat and bigger than normal. Ask them to throw the rice roll sauce on it, even better. Pai gwut aka spare ribs is okay but it gets the job done. - SERVICE - Standard. - PLACE - Inside 88 Marketplace, this place is convenient because you can just order by the dish, eat it there, or grab and go. There are a lot of tables but the only con is that people leave them pretty dirty so you have to wipe it down yourself. - VERDICT - Selection isn't massive but they have what I usually order. Don't expect the best dim sum, but for what it is, it's not bad. I mostly like how convenient it is.

this place is super busy inside of the 88 marketplace food court, which was a good sign. besides it feeling a little cramped, there's plenty of seating. you may wait awhile though due to it being so busy. i only got dumplings as a quick snack but they were sooo good. if you need a small bite and you're shopping in here check it out!

This place is my go to place whenever I am in the mood for pork rice crepe. I always place my order ahead of time because the wait can be pretty long depending on when you place the order and then I usually just shop around the supermarket as I wait for my order to be ready for pick up. I love how smooth the crepe is and they have regular pork as an option and not the bbq pork kind. I tried other dimsum at this place and I think they're pretty decent as well such as the pork/shrimp dumplings. There are times that I will go out of my way just to come here to pick up some rice crepes because they're so good and cheap here.

Situated inside the food court next to 88 Marker, this place offers piping hot, delicious dim sum at a great price. Order at the counter, takes about 10-15 minutes to pick up. Just a tip, you will be charged 3% extra for using card. My favorites were: 1) Siu Mai 烧卖 $5.49 2) Corn Dumpling with Shrimp 鲜虾粟米饼 $5.49 3) BBQ rice crepe 叉烧肠粉 $5.29 The only thing I didn't like were the Taro Dumplings with pork and shrimp. It was very dense, dry and bland.

Located inside 88 Market, this cute little food court dim sum restaurant makes their food with love! We got the Shrimp Rice Crepe (2), Deep Fried Dough Stick Rice Crepe, Siu Mai, Spare Ribs, Chicken Feet, and soy milk. You can tell the crepes are made to order. Also, where other dim sum places use store-bought dough sticks, Ying's uses freshly made ones. This made the crepes have a delicious silky outer-layer with the best crunchy inner layer. We enjoyed every dish, but had to agree the spareribs were our least favorite. The soy milk is also freshly made and was a nice, warm beverage for the chilly morning. Overall, I think we paid ~$45 with tips, so not too bad at all considering how expensive dim sum is becoming. Tip: Everything is pretty much self serve, so feel free to go up to the counter area and mix sauces to dip your food in!

This dim sum stall inside 88 Market was quite busy with orders and it took a while to get our food. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our Taishan style dim sum at Ying Dim Sum, which is different from the traditional Hong Kong style dim sum houses in Chicago Chinatown. The flavors are more muted due to less salt and minimal MSG (if any). The dim sum dishes are made with very little oil or fat so it does taste healthier and closer to home cooking. I am not sure this place will appeal to the masses, but Taishan customers do appreciate the flavors and healthier option outside our homes. Recommended are: shrimp and spareribs crepes, green chives, pork & shrimp dumpling and the won ton soup. HK Milk tea is slightly sweetened but tasty. Wish it was a little hotter though. I see many other people getting the fried dough sticks and dipping it in the soy milk. Maybe I'll try that next time. Can't say service was super friendly, but that's how most Asian places are... straight forward and business focused.

Wife and I were shopping at 88 Marketplace and we ended up having a food court lunch here. Wife opted for a dim sum lunch from this food stand, whereas I went for Chinese BBQ. It was quite tip top fresh and delicious. She had: - siu mai, $5.49 - dough sticks rice crepes, $4.99 - hot milk tea, $3.99 She waited 15 minutes while it was prepared as it was busy. The food court is big and busy, but seating could still be found. It's nice that there is free parking right outside, and that makes it quite easy to stop in this place or others in the food court for a nice quick meal or whatever.

Great dim sum! Only place that I found to have the rice roll that is made this specific way. Worth it and greatly affordable!

Decently priced and extra delicious. Discovered this place for a lunch meal. The prices are reasonable and the food was extraordinarily good. The service is quick and what i absolutely love about this place is that food is pipping hot and fresh when served. I highly recommend if you're on a dim sum budget or a quick lunch. Pretty good dimsum with some standout items. Location is in a food court within the 88 Marketplace asian grocery store. Pleasantly surprised to see that they use authentic bamboo steaming trays despite the counter-service setup. GREAT: - 蝦餃 Hargow (shrimp dumplings): wrapper isn't too thick or doughy - 燒賣 Siumai: Very solid and they don't skimp on the ingredients GOOD: - 炸兩 Fried Dough Wrapped in Rice Crepe: The flavor is good but the steamed rice wrapper isn't super smooth and the dough could but crispier - 叉燒包 BBQ Pork Buns: Pretty decent but a little doughy and could be even fluffier MEH: - 熱豆漿 Hot Soy Milk: Favor is food but texture wasn't smooth, kept getting a lot of residue while drinking Overall solid spot and would recommend! Good food along with reasonable prices and quick service.

This place is located in the Ranch 88 Market in what can be considered their "food court". The portion sizes were great! Each dumpling was pretty substantial and very tasty. Good selection. As you wait, you can walk around the market and pick up some goodies or your normal grocery shopping. I love that they have a variety of rice crepes to choose from and will definitely be trying more!

Amazing and cheap dim sum in the 88 marketplace food hall. I usually get held up at 312 fish but since it was closed, I ventured further and stumbled upon this gem. Big menu and everything was cheap but made to order (the dumplings were steamed in the wooden boxes) and I loved the authenticity. Got the: - fresh shumai - always had this steamed vs fried but was pleasantly surprised. So tasty - taishan dumpling - haven't seen this on any menu before but decided to try it and it was amazing flavors. Reminded me of a Viet dish I had growing up. Came freshly steamed in the wooden boxes - fried shrimp rolls - nice and crispy - pork rice crepe - was steamed a little over but still delicious Will definitely be back!

No frills dim sum in the food court of 88 Marketplace. You don't come here for the service because it's self service, but the food here is incredible - better than most of the full service dim sum places near here.

I went to this place because of a recommendation. Ying Dim Sum is in 88 Market (Chinese grocery store that is around 2 years old). It is one of the food places in the mini food court. I absolutely loved it. They didn't have as many options as you would see at a sit down restaurant, but the selection was pretty unique. I got the Chives Dumpling with pork and it was piping hot when I got it. The inside was so juicy, soft, and decadent. It was very savory. I also got the Sticky Rice with chicken and mushroom. It was hot when I got it and very delicious. The chicken and mushrooms were really soft. The two together were pretty filling - if I had more time, I would get one more. The price was pretty decent, not too overwhelming. I would recommend the two dishes! The ladies at the counter were also super nice and sweet. The mini food court was really clean (maybe helps that it was relatively new?), and the bathrooms were pretty clean too (always appreciate that.)

Great, fresh dim sum with fast and friendly service in the food court of 88 market. I took my order to go and it was quickly ready, well packed and everything was piping hot still on arrival, not to mention delicious! Lots of tables in the food court too if you want to eat there. Yum!

I decided to try this place after seeing some postsfr, as rice crepe is a favorite from my childhood. Note that it's cash-only. Located at the last stall in the food court, all orders are made-to-order. I had the shrimp rice crepe ($5.29), fried dough sticks rice crepe ($4.99), and preserved veggie congee ($3). The congee was the highlight, leading me to order a second serving. The shrimp rice crepe was decent, though not as silky as expected, and the fried dough sticks were crispy but overly doughy. The crepes lacked sufficient soy sauce, and I wish chili oil was available. The workers were not particularly friendly when asking for additional sauce.

So, here I am at 88 Market Place one of the most comprehensive Asian super markets in the United States. This place is huge, mostly Chinese, although Japan, Vietnam, Taiwan and anything within that region is represented here. And, of course they have a food court. We walked pass a "sit down" sushi stall that I hear is great and several other tantalizing stalls but bee lined it to the Dim Sum stall. Oh my, the variety of dumplings, buns, rice noodle rolls, egg tarts, and shumai they have; and you can choose any of these dishes steamed, fried or baked. We got: * steamed pork and shrimp dumplings that were fantastic * Steamed shumai with (also) pork and shrimp - my favorite * BBQ pork and rice crepe that we devoured using a plum sauce condiment This was the most delicious and bountiful $17.00 lunches I've ever had. Their condiments are very Asian (of course), that you self serve yourself in little thimble like plastic containers. This entire meal is as bear bones, un-luxurious and basic as you can get - and I loved it! The order taker, cashier, cooks and expediter are as grouchy as a pissed off rooster that absolutely cracked me up. Will this place ever get a Michelin Star or a James Beard award - No! But, these Five Stars were earned by grit, tenacity, humor (I'm still laughing), price, quantity and really good Chinese Dim Sum! I am completely putting this lunch in my "Winner" column and will be back here very soon!

The food here was a little below average for our liking. It was okay, but we've had better dim sum at many other Chinese dim sum restaurants. You order up front - this is inside 88 market place. Depending on the day they are closed early so there are some food items not available to purchase. Overall it was just okay. You eat your food in the shared dining space at 88 market place.

Great find for us thanks to Yelp! We were craving Asian food after several pizza meals. The dim sum was super fresh esp the rice roll and the fun guo. My friends loved the congee. It was great dim sum even as a simple food stall on the side of a supermarket.

I randomly came across this food stall while shopping for groceries. With so many dim sum restaurants within a five minute drive from 88 Marketplace, I didn't have high expectations for dim sum at a food stall but this is probably one of the best dim sum meals I've had in a long time. Everything can be seen steamed or fried fresh to order. A lot of items here are pretty good but my favorites are definitely the pork rice crepe (aka rice noodle rolls or churng fun) and the steamed chive dumplings (I believe these have shrimp and maybe pork in it as well). The rice crepes are not the perfectly rectangular rolled ones you get at dim sum restaurants, but actually what I describe as a more rustic version that is super thin, bunched together and tastier! I can probably eat plates of this at a time. If there was an option to add scallions & cilantro as well, it would take the rice crepes to 11/10. The chive dumplings give me feelings of home, filling and flavors are also perfectly balanced. One time I went, there was also a special of the day (taped to the checkout, in Chinese only) and that was pork & preserved congee for $2.50 a bowl. It was delicious! If only they would make it a permanent menu item because there's just a perfect amount of flavor but still let's me feel like I'm eating something "clean". And the quality of meat is way better than other congee places, meat is actually tender! There are lots of sauce options that you can just ask for when you pick up your food. It can get busy on the weekend as people are grocery shopping and picking up food at the same time. Since everything is steamed fresh to order anyway, be prepared to wait at least 10 mins. P.S. 3% fee for credit card but you can also pay in cash if you prefer

I was at 88 marketplace to shop with family and decided to try some cost effective dim sum. It was not bad overall. Quality- BEST: I liked the spare ribs and cuttle fish the best. Tastes just like how Ming hin does it. I can tell it was fresh and I can also see them making it in the back. The siu mai was also delicious and had plenty of delicious pork filling. GOOD: congee was pretty good. I would have liked more fish/meat/green onion. OK: The chicken feet and cheung fun was a bit tasteless in my opinion. I would have preferred a bit more shrimp and vegetables on the cheung fun. Quantity- I got quite a bit for a cheap price. If I were to come back I would forgo the chicken feet and cheung fun. I would focus purely on the siu Mai. Service- it took a while but that's what you pay for freshness and something family run. Atmosphere- tables were quite dirty but that's ok. Inconsiderate people that don't wipe down afterwards are everywhere and it's not the restaurants fault.

Already been here 4 times; this is one of the best dim sum places in all of Chicago. Steamed fresh to order, everything is average to above average quality, with the chang fen being particularly delicious. They are thin and have folds for the sauce to cover. Highly recommended. You will have to fight for a table though. This food court inside 88 Marketplace gets crowded quickly, especially on the weekends. Counter service, but everyone is super friendly. 3% credit card fee. Awesome place to eat then do some groceries. It's a mainstay in my food rotation.

Delicious dim sum! It's a perfect snack before of after you shop at 88. Definitely order ahead, they make each order fresh. So it takes a minute. My favorites are the siu mai, sesame balls, and steam pork buns. The ladies that work there are so nice!

Food was really good in the beginning. All staff has an attitude. Food has gone downhill and service even worse.

Food was tasty (the steamed rice rolls, sesame balls, taro dumplings, shrimp rolls) but scarily my child found a piece of metal in his steamed BBQ pork bun on Saturday and last time we went 1 of 2 soy milks had gone sour. Both times they had already closed by the time we discovered these things. They did comp us a soy milks this time when I mentioned it was sour last time. There was one time before that that my husband saw someone in the back making dumplings and the dumpling skin fell on the floor and they just put it back with the other food that was going to get served (gross and yet still somehow we decided to go back - (why?! I guess we figured it was steamed and maybe it supports our microbiome to have extra bacteria - in retrospect we probably should not have gone back)). I typically don't like to post this online against a small business but having metal in your food is obviously very dangerous (my son could have cut his mouth or esophagus or further down his GI tract leading to perforation and surgery) so they have a safety-quality control problem that must be addressed. Disappointed because we actually like the food here when it's done well and nobody else makes chang fen rice rolls the way they do!

Simple, fresh, excellent. Great local Dim Sum shop. It's upstairs in the ethnic food market in the very back of the store. Worth the journey.

We always come to 88 marketplace but we have never had their food court dishes. Today we decided to try Ying Dim Sum. It was very delicious. We order the shu mai, soup dumplings, curry cuttle fish, shrimp, pork with chive dumplings, bbq pork bun and the Chinese doughnut. Everything was cooked from scratch so everything was fresh. The service was great. The ladies that took my order and served me were super nice. They always smiled and were so attentive. The ambience of course is food court vibe and family oriented. This place was very good and will definitely be back soon!

Located at the 88 Marketplace in Chinatown is Ying Dim Sum. Very hard-working staff who speaks multiple languages. They seemed very busy on Sunday and short-staffed. We finally received all of our foods and the dim sum was good but I have tried dim sum from major cities and it does not compare. However, because this is located inside a supermarket, that would not be a fair comparison. For a restaurant located inside a supermarket it hits its mark. Nice service, good food.

Most dim sum menu in Chicago Chinatown are similar. Even some of the different items used to be offered at Phoenix are no longer available. So, it's a surprise to find one different item here at the food court - taro and pork filled gluten-free dumplings. They were larger than I expected and I love anything with taro. The sesame balls were freshly made and piping hot. What a treat! I also ordered BBQ pork buns, my way of gauging a dim sum place, they've really good. One other items I ordered was chicken with sweet rice. This one I didn't care for much. They also offer fresh soymilk and more. BTW, they change 3% if you pay with a credit card. Altogether, a pleasant and relaxed experience at 88 Marketplace.

I can't believe I found these folded rice crepes here! I had them once in Vancouver and been craving them! These folding ones are the best because the sauce is fully coated in the folds. This is such a hidden gem!

Ying Dim Sum is conveniently located in 88 Marketplace! The building has parking, so it's really convenient to stop in the food court and get groceries at the same time! The dim sum is pretty good and it's fast too. My favorites are the siu mai and rice noodles. Definitely recommend stopping by!!

Bought $42 worth of dim sum take out. Got home and found out 80% of the food (shu mai and chives dumpling) was uncooked. Tried to microwave it... and still was soggy meat.

Treat your customers better & dim sum should be prepared fresh daily if you are going to charge so much for them

Visited Chicago again and had to come back here, Located in 88 marketplace. This place is tasted even better than I remembered! Everything is fresh made to order. Saturday mid-morning was a pretty long line if not early enough. Very nice staff and the menu has pictures which could be helpful. We got a lot of food - Fried shumai, Liquid Custard Buns, Shrimp Rice Crepe, Shrimp Dumpling, Spare Ribs with Black Bean Sauce, Steamed BBQ Pork Buns, Wonton Soup, Chicken Feet with Black Bean Sauce, Fried Shrimp Dumplings, Milk Tea all hit the spot! All very good but the must try imo is the custard bun so gooey and perfectly balanced sweetness and the fried shumai! So much meat filling too Can't forget to mention the milk tea and hot soy milk is a staple and not too sweet as well. Will be a reoccurring spot when I visit Chicago form now on.

Excellent dim sum, though it's not a restaurant. It's basically part of a food court in an Asian grocery store. You order at a counter, get a number, and then pick up your food and clean your own table. There is basically no service.

Dim sum offerings like shrimp/pork dumplings, etc, served in steamer-like containers! It's a nice touch. Great option next to grocery store. I recommend the pork dumplings (sui mai) 5/5 and corn cakes 4.7/5. Mochi is well-made.

Delicious sesame buns, best I have had. The dim sum is made fresh and the menu has many great items. We also tried the steamed bbq pork buns which did not disappoint.

nice food court place serving dim sum we loved everything we order here ,the service is pretty fast, you can dine here after you do grocery shopping the rice crepes are pretty good. you can also see them making siu mai on the spot, the cook is very fast at putting the pork inside each siu mai skin. I also like the taro dumpling with pork please note that the rating has taken into consideration that this is in a food court vs. a stand alone restaurant
