The Best Place to Watch New York Dress Up Again | Eater NY

"A new kaiseki-style Japanese restaurant led by chef Ry Nitzkowski, who previously led the sushi bar at Zero Bond and was chef and partner at The Residence of Mr. Moto. It is presented as one of the hotel’s three new restaurants and brings a focused, chef-driven Japanese kaiseki approach to the property." - Andrea Strong

The Waldorf Astoria Is Finally Reopening With Three New Restaurants | Eater NY

"A Japanese spot in the lobby with chef Ry Nitzkowski at the helm, this minimalist wabi-sabi space with views of Park Avenue centers around the building's 1939 "Wheel of Life" mosaic and adds to the kaiseki momentum already seeing growth in New York (in places like Chinatown’s Yamada and Union Square’s Kappo Sono). Expect items such as toro tartare, grilled lobster, and king crab, with a drinks program ranging from sake to champagne and Japanese spirits, plus cocktails like the Yuzu Manhattan. Dinner service is Tuesday through Saturday." - Melissa McCart

One of the most fantastic Japanese experiences I’ve had in NY. The depth of flavor, the quality of the ingredients, and the execution of the tasting menu was impeccable. Still thinking about the uni toast and seaweed donut! Excellent and authentic drink options as well (alcoholic and non alcoholic). Extremely balanced flavors and attentive service from the staff. Can’t wait to go back - a must if you’re in New York!

Our meal was easily the worst sushi we have ever had. It is also amount the most expensive sushi we have ever had. The combination was a disaster. We were excited to visit the newly renovated Waldorf+Astoria. The hotel lobby is impressive albeit a bit sterile. The sushi restaurant is located near the Park Avenue entrance. It is more of a lobby lounge than a traditional Japanese restaurant. The service was friendly but SLOW! The lounge was essentially empty (there were two other parties) but it took forever for our server to engage with us. And then it took forever in between visits to our table. In fact, it took 19 minutes for our cocktails to arrive. The service never got better. The sushi is expensive. The quality of the fish was not commensurate with being a high-end sushi restaurant. The tuna (medium fatty) was chewy and full of connective fiber. The salmon was better but we have had more flavorful sushi from our local grocery store. The rice had no flavor and added nothing to the individual pieces. In a town with many outstanding sushi restaurants there is little hope that this restaurant will stay in business.

Dinner we had the choose the 13-course. The food wasn't that good, not one dish wowed me, every dish was mediocre. They did not have the first two bottles of sake that we ordered. Our waiter was combative, not friendly, he seemed like he had an attitude the entire time. We had a horrible time here, I would not recommend this restaurant.

Yoshoku at the Waldorf Astoria is such a beautiful spot with super friendly team—our server Kathalina was wonderful and really knowledgeable. We loved the toro taki maki (so fresh!), the snap pea and watercress salad, and the heirloom tomato dish with figs and melon. The egg mimosa sando, halibut meuniere, and quail katsu were also all delicious. Desserts were stunning and tasty too. Highly recommend for a nice dinner in a gorgeous, historic setting—I can’t wait to go back and try more of their sushi!

Had an amazing experience at Yoshoku in the newly renovated Waldorf Astoria! The food was exceptional, with a la carte items as well as a tasting menu. A friend and I shared some a la carte items, such as a tomato salad with shiso vinaigrette and an adorable egg salad sando. The sushi and maki rolls were also very fresh and expertly made, and make sure to save room for dessert as all the sweets were perfectly balanced in flavor. The space is so beautiful, with the intricate crown moldings and al frescos above us, and service was perfectly attentive without feeling obtrusive. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Real review; NOT your fake, 'first to review' BS. Happy to be back at Waldorf Astoria. La Chine was one of my favorite restaurants in NYC before the hotel closed for renovation. The 13-course, reasonably-priced ($188) Kaiseki from Chef Ry Nitzkowski (formerly of Momofuku, Shuko and Mr. Moto) was wonderful, delicious and beautifully presented. Not your traditional kaiseki, but love Chef Nitzkowski's interpretation of my favorite type of cuisine with influences from Shuko and Momofuku. See pics. Amuse bouche Hokkaido bafun uni with kaluga caviar toast Toro on nori chip Sazae Madai with baby corn Hirame Suimono Toro Kanpachi Hotate Tsukemono Wagyu with maitake and shiso potato Matcha cake Petit four But, what is up with having the restaurant in an open space, the hotel lobby, right by one of the main entrances with all the people walking in and out? Not the ambiance of a high-end Japanese restaurant. A restaurant of this caliber should be housed in an enclosed setting. A counter, while watching the chefs prepare the courses, would be the ideal setting. Will back soon to try their a la carte menu. Service - wonderful. Highest recommedation : 10 kaiskei

Yelp
Located at the Waldorf, Yoshoku offers both an a la carte and a kaiseki-inspired menu. We were able to make an online reservation without any issues through their platform, and confirming with the staff was pleasant and very helpful! We were able to obtain an earlier time, knowing that we wanted to focus on the kaiseki menu. Thank you for making this such a smooth process! +kaiseki +get an earlier seating +seamless online reservation process +friendly & helpful staff
