The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies In NYC, Ranked - New York - The Infatuation

"When served warm, the vanilla fragrance wafting off this hefty cookie could lure us into traffic. Unfortunately, the smell is writing checks that the taste can't cash. Especially once it's reached room temperature, the cookie tastes too sweet and artificial, with poor-quality chocolate. We cannot in good conscience give it five big booms—that’s for the chicken bake." - molly fitzpatrick, bryan kim, willa moore, will hartman, sonal shah

You’re A Cookie to Open Walk-Up Window in Avondale | Eater Chicago

"Set to open a walk-up window in Avondale at 3453 N. Albany Avenue in early 2021, this shop is the project of Chicago pastry chef Angela Diaz, who grew a grocery-shelf cookie business into a brand sold in 15+ Chicago markets and shipped nationwide. The to-go window will center on cookies, ice cream sandwiches, and a specialty coffee blend, with staples including triple chocolate chip, oatmeal blueberry, and vegan chocolate chip cookie dough alongside rotating flavors like s'mores and a panadería-inspired sprinkle crunch. An on-site soft-serve machine will produce whole-milk and oat-milk soft serve to be sandwiched between cookies, and Diaz plans collaborations with other chefs on unusual ice cream flavors and a potential partnership with a local roaster for a signature coffee blend. Having worked at spots such as Cherry Circle Room, Owen & Engine, and the now-closed Trenchermen, and driven by her own gluten sensitivity, she emphasizes inclusive, allergy-friendly options. Largely a one-person operation aided by friends, the business weathered pandemic-related wholesale losses but remains focused on delivering playful, nostalgic treats designed to make customers feel like a kid." - Naomi Waxman

Google
Well despite coming to try complimentary cookies with my ADA mom from Yelp and buy locally for 2nd hot chocolate that I had to pay. I and my mom was not impressed by the cookies and hot chocolate. I was given a peppermint cookie and had a vegan peppermint as a comparison. The regular peppermint cookie was better but not a great tasting cookie. I also got the triple chocolate chip cookie and it was a "meh". Nothing exciting. The hot chocolate was way too sweet for me. I tasted more sugar than the mix of Coco from the hot chocolate. Angela got my order wrong on adding peppermint too in between getting a complimentary one only. I apologize for this local business for a 2nd day after opening but I myself was not impressed. Also wish Yelp would have told me that this was not a sit down place to eat your desert and drink your beverage. Other than that I would think to go elsewhere for cookies.

Google
This is my family's favorite place to get a sweet treat. I've stopped by to grab one cookie and cocoa, dozens of cookies (either baked or frozen), cookie cakes, and also had cookies shipped to friends in a different state... And I've had nothing but positive experiences each time. I love how many flavors are available and that there are options for my family members with allergies. Angela clearly is passionate about making delicious cookies, and I can't wait to see what other flavors come up next!

Google
These cookies are AMAZING. Being gluten free, it is rare to find a great cookie, especially in fun flavors. This place has both! I also love that they have frozen cookie dough so I can have a fresh baked cookie whenever I want. And it's just as good as the premade cookies. I will be back!

I was only in town for a few weeks, and I'm kicking myself for not visiting sooner! The GF cookies were absolutely delicious. I brought them to a get-together, and both my husband and friend were shocked when I pointed out they were eating GF cookies. If you're GF, or entertaining both gluten-eating and GF company, this is your best bet for a treat that will please everyone. The storefront is unassuming, but do not hesitate to pop in! The woman who assisted me was very friendly. I'm hoping to make it back in at least once more before I leave town to try a cookie sandwich.

Las galletas son deliciosas!! The cookies are delicious! I had the smore cookie and it is so good!! You can taste the cinnamon, marshmallow and the chocolate in one bite! First time visiting and I had an amazing experience. Definitely will be back.

Google
Today i had…..a rough time. I live in the area and pass by this cookie shop every day. After work, i was compelled to finally stop in for the first time. Upon learning everything is vegan, i literally burst into tears. Listen, vegan items are cool. I’m not even vegan; clearly this burst of emotion had nothing to do with the events that took place at You’re a Cookie. But it was this one tidbit of good news that reminded me I’ve got a lot more to look forward to in life. Gotta say, the angel working today REALLY handled my over sharing and outburst well. Thank you, kind stranger. I’m eating the cookies on my bed right now. Agree with everyone else. That chocolate chip cookie is to live for.

Google
This is a great place to pickup dessert after procuring food from Wok! You Want, La Zacatenaca, Jaiyen, or any other area restaurants. We enjoyed their cookies and personalized attention. They offer many seasonal options, too. We will be back soon!

Yelp
Super convenient location right off California. Able to grab my hot chocolate and cookies while doing some Christmas shopping a few weeks ago. I visited this location prior for a Yelp event. On this occasion, I was able to get street parking. Last time I blew by the strip mall on accident, however there is plenty of parking in the strip mall. In addition to fresh cookies they have premade dough that you can make at home later. Grabbed some dough of Triple Chocolate Cookies to bake for later about two weeks ago. I believe the cost was like $10 (which is less than $2 a cookie). Ingredients and preservation of dough was premium. I choose to freeze my dough and make on a movie night. Cookies came in good handy on New Year's Eve. We made these cookies after dinner. I set them on parchment paper while the oven heated up. Cookies took about 18 min to bake in my oven. Very easy and simple. Instructions, nutritional information on the container. Review of cookie: so soft, quality melting chocolate, and satisfying sweet taste. I only ate one cookie and was totally content. My triple Chocolate cookie went well with red wine. The next morning had another cookie with coffee. Yum yum!!! Will be back. On previous visit for Yelp event, I had the hot chocolate. Wowza do I want more of that. This place isn't too far from my gym. Will grab Hot Chocolate after a good lifting day soon. Check this place out...they also have lots of vegan cookies premade and frozen.

Yelp
Wonderful experience and delicious cookies! My family and I went on a Sunday and it was busy, but they are efficient and friendly when serving! We got a mixture of what was available - gingerbread, holiday sugar cookie, oatmeal blueberry, s'mores, peppermint chocolate. All delicious with a glass of milk! We ate a few hours after buying them and they still tasted perfect! We'll be back!

Yelp
Stopped in for an event and bought a few extra cookies. We tried the Triple chocolate chip, blueberry oatmeal & peppermint crunch. Along with some hot cocoa. Also tried the vegan oatmeal blueberry. I'm in a wheelchair and I was able to enter to ok. There is a bit of a lip at the door so I had to go in and out backwards (or would need someone to help me pop a wheelie to go in forwards). The cookies were quite tasty. The triple chocolate had a nice flavor contrast with the different chocolates. The oatmeal blueberry was a nice twist from a standard oatmeal raisin. The blueberry gives it a nice tang. I read that they use two different type of blueberries. The peppermint crunch had a nice cocoa and peppermint flavor without being too overwhelming. I didn't try the vegan oatmeal blueberry cookie but my sig other did and he said it was ok but he was comparing to the non vegan. If that's all he had, he said it was a good cookie but when comparing, it is vegan lol. The hot cocoa I got with whipped cream and peppermint and it was very very rich and sweet. Very decadent. A little too sweet for me but the flavor was bold and nice. If in the area I'd stop in again.

Yelp
Quote by Cookie Monster - "Today me will live in the moment, unless it's unpleasant in which case me will eat a cookie." Whether it be for trending as a hot new business, or being reviewed by other yelpers, You're a Cookie! just kept popping up on my Yelp feed which built that interest in visiting. As a cookie lover, of course I took the bait! I ordered an all-butter variety stack. Since You're a Cookie! is open only on the weekend, I pre-ordered a few days out in order to avoid any potential customer lines. If you are not familiar with the storefront, then you may miss this business because there is no distinguishing logo. My advice is to keep your eyes peeled for 'Wok ! You Want', its neighboring restaurant that has a distinguishing logo. Parking at this location consists of a shared lot with other businesses, as well as street and residential. I visited minutes into the shop opening on a Saturday and had plentiful spots to choose from. Acknowledged as soon as I walked in, in-between the owner I believe who was preparing orders. I took notice of the vegan chocolate cookie as my order was being packaged. I mentioned my interest in ordering the all-vegan variety stack in the future. I ended up requesting one to go along with my all-butter variety stack which the owner gave with no charge. Prior to my next off weekend, I will surely order the all-vegan variety stack because I did enjoy the vegan chocolate chip cookie given. The owner was sociable during my visit! If I would have been a little more rested, I would have asked more questions pertaining to the business or kept more of a conversation going. I will leave that for another visit, preferably a visit in the afternoon rather than morning. As for the cookies, I enjoyed every bite of the double chocolate chip cookie! It wasn't too chewy nor too crunchy; the cookie literally made my mouth water in-between bites, hehe. After finishing it, I smiled remembering that I had another left. The oatmeal blueberry cookie hands down is the best oatmeal cookie I have ever had. Its buttery taste gave my taste buds something to yearn for. I ended up eating my second oatmeal blueberry cookie immediately after. And lastly, the triple chocolate chip! I saved it for last because I knew it would have been my favorite out of the others. I just wish I had not run out of milk prior to visiting, *shaking my head*. I had the biggest grin on my face after eating the triple chocolate chip cookie. I closing I had a satisfying overall experience with You're a Cookie! I would surely order from again as indicated in this review, * chef's kiss *. ~Blessings~   Thomas G

Yelp
'You're a Cookie' is an unassuming newly baked cookie shop in the south part of Avondale/North Center neighborhoods. Located in a strip mall/plaza, there isn't a shop sign yet to identify it! While waiting for my hot chocolate, chatted with owner, and she explained that You're a Cookie is mainly a wholesale cookie shop supplying to over a dozen shops in the area including HarvesTime and many other stores. They are closed on the weekdays for primary wholesale business and only open to the public on weekends, 11am-7pm! So you can find their cookies at other retailers during the week! My favorite was easily the triple chocolate chip cookie! At $3 a cookie, they are a little pricey, but nonetheless yummy! Cheaper to buy at half a dozen or a dozen, these would be great for a family/friends gathering or a party. The hot chocolate was thick, fresh and marshmallows were petite and fresh! Would 100% come back for a cookie and some hot chocolate. I do wish maybe there were a few tables in the store for sitting, hopefully this can be an addition in the future! Warm cookies and hot chocolate, what is more comforting during the Chicago winter months? Caution: Eat quickly, and buy a few extras so your husband doesn't gobble up most of the cookie up before you get a taste!

Yelp
Great cookie experience, I'm a chocolate chip fanatic and the Triple Chocolate is excellent, but the chocolate cookie with peppermint was an incredibly cool surprise. I thought I had ordered a cookie with sprinkles, to my pleasant surprise those sprinkles on top of the chocolate base are flavored with peppermint. A very nice combination of chocolate and peppermint. The Oatmeal Blueberry was a hit, the white with sprinkles a nice chewy sugary cookie. I tried the hot cocoa, the marshmallows made for a nice presentation but I found the hot cocoa just a little to dark for my taste. Picked up some cookie dough, looking forward to popping them in the oven. Pleasant experience, 6 cookies for $15 provides a decent value. (FDV Approved 4.5 - Food, 4.7; Design, 4.4; Value, 4.4).

Yelp
So happy that Yelp introduced me to this local, and woman owned cookery/bakery! I am in love with this place. The owner and her sister were extremely sweet, and welcoming, and very knowledgeable about baked goods. I believe (don't quote me) that their cookies are gluten free, and they have some vegan options too! I think having variety so that everyone can enjoy a sweet treat is awesome! I loved the cookies! I got an array of cookies and they were all fresh, nice a moist and had such rich flavor. My favorite were the sugar cookie and the blueberry oatmeal cookie! I highly recommend you pop by for a sweet treat and to talk to the owners!

Yelp
What a cute cookie shop! Went for the YEE event with a friend and got a few cookies to go. The sugar sprinkles cookies are DELICIOUS. They have that sugary butter taste we all love as well as tasty sprinkles on top. Also got the triple chocolate chip cookies which my friend really really liked. I'm not a fan of white chocolate, but thought it was pretty good when eating around those parts. Also got hot cocoa, and wasn't too impressed. Not sure if it's just the way it was..but it was bitter? I got the regular cocoa with whipped cream and it was not sweet at all. But other then that a cute experience! Also thanks for the owner for giving us some info about the neighborhood!

Yelp
Went here for the Eiite invention. The shop is small and sort of hidden. They didn't have coffee when I went, but ordered the hot chocolate with vegan whipped cream and mint. It was ssooooo good. Very impressed, great drink. I also had the triple chocolate chip cookies which were delicious. I definitely reccomend and plan to return. So glad I was invited, thank you!

Yelp
I was leery about trying this place as I tend to hate gluten free products. I was sooo pleasantly surprised- Great cookies that are gluten and nut free but don't taste gluten free. Loved the oatmeal blueberry - delicious and filling. Loved their little design to your liking hot chocolate bar complete with your choice of sprinkles, pepper mint candy chips or more traditional marshmallow and/ or whipped cream. Hot chocolate was rich and delish. Easy free parking in this little strip mall. No seating, just a little store front for a treat to go. Most of their business involves shipping so the storefront set up seems to be a little bit of an after thought but the product is great so I'd definitely return!

Yelp
This shop's in my neighborhood, and I've visited a few times. Their hot chocolate is super rich and yummy, and the cookies are soooo good! Really happy this place opened up in Avondale because it just adds to the number of great local businesses flourishing near Belmont and California. Also, they have pup cups with sprinkles!

Yelp
We got 6 cookies so we could try all the flavors. The triple chocolate chip is really good. We also really liked the s'more cookie. The hot chocolate is sooooo good, not too sweet but so decadent. The owner is very friendly too. So happy to have her in the neighborhood

Yelp
Excellent cookies! My wife and I pick up cookies there all the time and every single one has been a winner. The Sprinkle Crunch is my favorite. The owner is extremely nice and welcoming. I especially like how they are constantly trying new things like ice cream sandwiches or hot chocolate. We are very glad this place moved into the neighborhood!

Janet S.

Yelp
The vegan sprinkle cookie is absolutely one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten in my whole life. Heavenly flavor and perfectly chewy! All cookies are gluten-free, including excellent vegan options. I only wish they were open more days of the week and for longer hours so I could stop by even more often. You can order ahead online for pick-up, and you can also order cookies to be shipped.

Nina F.

Yelp
Honestly these are some of the most delicious cookies I have ever put in my mouth. The owner, Angela, is AMAZING. She is so warm and friendly and I appreciate that she makes delectable items that fit my dietary restrictions (gluten-free, dairy-free) without tasting like they are free of anything.
