Katy Asian Town’s Best Restaurants | Eater Houston

"The claim to fame at this pho house is the “Yummy” pho special, which comes with a giant hunk of short rib — because Texas. Diners can cut pieces of short rib using a provided pair of scissors, resulting in one of the meatiest bowls of pho in the city. Second to the pho, try the bo ne, or sizzling Vietnamese steak and eggs, served with a thick slice of spam. If up for it, the $50 pho challenge — two pounds of meat and two pounds of noodles, plus broth — offers the brave and hungry a chance to win a $200 cash prize." - Minh Truong

Overall good pho, big portion but maybe needs some more meat (also the meat was very tough). I also got the roll, I would not recommend I felt nauseous after trying it, tasted weird with very bad after state. However, their peanut sauce that can with was not bad. The vegetable did not seem fresh, but the overall quality of the pho was good. If you really want pho this place is not bad would recommend but there are better in Houston for less $.

If I can give negative numbers I would. The food is not great at all. The chicken was dry and hard. I didn’t eat anything on my plate because of the nasty taste it left. The service was awful we sat ourselves and waited for someone to come attend us. The food came out very fast, makes me wonder if the food is just re heated left overs. The building is dirty there was dust balls all over the wall and the tvs. The straws for the drinks don’t hold up well and flattened when used with a cap. This is not what I expected from this place. When I explained that the food sucked and I didn’t want to pay for that plate they said I had to order something else or only 10% of.. horrible

Google
Great local chain of comfort Vietnamese food. The service was reasonably friendly, fast and efficient. The seating is a little cramped. The tables are a little small and close together. One of their specialties is their bò né, which is served on a sizzling platter and a cool presentation. While the beef cubes come out well done, they are still tender and flavorful. The Bò Lúc Lắc / shaking beef is another one of their specialties and was well executed. The beef filet cubes come out medium rare and have a nice bold flavor. The dish over all is well balanced with the veggies and fried rice. The yummy pho is a nice upgrade with a giant beef short rib. The meat was surprisingly tender and well worth the upgrade from their other pho options. Difficult to find parking as it’s shared with many other restaurants.

Google
We'll be skipping this pho place - there are plenty of better options with fresher food, excellent service, and cleaner tables. Our kid's macaroni was filled with black burnt bits.

Google
The food was great. The service was average like nothing above and beyond but standard and no complaints. Reason y I rated it so low I want to say maybe due to the place getting busy it felt like my group was being rushed to leave because it went from checking in on us every 10-15mins while we ate to every 5-8 once we finished and we're just talking. Granted that last part happened twice before we got the bill and left 10 mins later. The atmosphere gives any normal Vietnamese family restaurant feel. It was a worth while place to visit

Google
Love yummy pho and ne!! Their specialty are the Pho and Bon Ne dishes! Which I highly recommend. Their pho broth has so much flavor, good ratio of protein and noodles. We got the chicken this time. Definitely the best pho in houston. I always come for the bon ne, a dish you don’t always see. A sizzling cast iron dish with chunks of beef, spam, eggs and a flakey baguette!! So delicious and filling! Highly recommend this spot! Also in a great part of Katy Asia Town.

Google
You fixed AC since covid. Now great. But floors still slimy. p.s. I guess I am putting back my one star review. I sent email more than week ago and nobody ever communicated to me. I understand you have 5 restaurants probably and very busy.

Google
Very delicious Vietnamese cuisine, service are good also the food quality. I will highly recommended to order Bo Ne, they offered a bread stick with the delicious steaks, also the beef soup is also very delicious and cheap! I will come back here soon to visit again!

Yelp
saur many asian establishments in this plaza it's a dream !! couldn't decide what to eat for brunch but decided on here -- very similar to the vietnamese restaurants back home (which makes sense due to the large viet community here). we ordered the bo ne/ steak and egg and it came with banh mi + pate and mayo YOM and two other pho bowls which were pretty large imo but the soup was delicious and i lovvv the tendons and beef tripe. a good first time experience here yippee

Yelp
The food here is super overpriced compared to other Pho places in the area. One bowl is $13+ and in my opinion, just not worth it. They're stingy with their toppings/meat. I was really disappointed because I have heard so many positive reviews but the quality just isn't there at all. The workers are nice, but not anything extraordinary. The servers that carried my food were yelling, talking to their other coworkers from across the room with no mask or any type of protective wear. It just seemed careless. I also experienced extreme food poisoning the next morning. I would not recommend this place to anyone I know unfortunately or risk giving it a second chance.

Yelp
This is my 3rd dine in experience with the family. When I'm in the Katy area, I try to come here for banh mi or pho. The staff is usually very nice and dining area is casual & clean. I usually get the Bánh Mì Thịt Nguội (deli combo) & yummy pho (with short rib). Both never disappoint. The kids get the kid pho with beef and always enjoy it too. I appreciate the server proactively providing a small bowl & food scissors for the kids' orders too. The location is in main Katy Asian Town so parking lot is huge but always crowded with lots of other places to explore too.

Yelp
I was so hungry but didnt want to overeat cause of a later event in the evening. Popped on in cause Bò Né is such a vietnamese classic. The best way to describe this is that its like a warm hug. It's hearty, relatively light, and really so simple but super filling. Will definitely come back for more! Their menu offers a variety of other dishes like Pho, Rice, and Vermicelli so you won't be stuck to just this. High recommend if you're in the area.

Yelp
Never had this dish here before. The chicken is so crunchy!!! Will definitely seeing myself order this more often.

Yelp
A go to place for my friends and I for their Bo Ne. I recommend going first thing in the morning when they open, or by 11 am they have a line out the door, and gets VERY busy. The place has fast service, and really tasty Vietnamese steak and eggs. Also, love pairing it with salty lemonade soda. The pate and butter aioli goes perfect on their warm and toasty baguettes too.

Yelp
I came to the center to find my preferred noodle soup place is closed on Wednesdays. So I walked over to Yummy to try theirs. The large bee noodle soup which is $14, my order is sliced filet and beef balls. Gotta say, Disappointed in the lack of meats. They cut the beef balls to quarters, and you get six... so basically not even two meatballs! There's no sliced meat, all I see are bits of crinkled beef. Not cool. There's a smell and side taste that I don't like about this, not sure if it's from the rice noodles... maybe they needed to wash them first? Out of the 40+ Pho places I've tried, this takes bottom 5, sorry!

Yelp
Vietnamese eggrolls 5/5. Very flavorful and great fish sauce 45 special fried rice 2/5 the shrimp were not cleaned well and over cooked. The other seafood was little bitty. Sliced pork and rice 4/5 great flavor Pho broth 5/5 AMAZING great flavor. We should have ordered Pho Wontons 5/5 wish it came with more or that they were bigger. So good!

Yelp
Nice little restaurant in Katy China town. You are seated as you walked in. They have both small tables and community style tables. They have a good size menu with lots of options. The food did take some time to come out but when it arrived it was fresh and hot. It was clear everything was made from scratch. The springs rolls were refreshing and filling. My grilled pork chop had great flavor. I would come back here next time I'm in the area.

Yelp
First off let me say their chili oil is bomb! It definitely has a kick and some heat that lingers which I love. Some places you can use a lot and it's not spicy but here you might want to go sparingly. I stopped in for some recovery soup after traveling back home from Austin. It really hit the spot! The service was good and water stayed filled. It was a good amount of patrons as well for weekday lunch time. Their grilled pork banh mi was really good as well.
google avatar

Chelsea L.

Yelp
Got the special pho! Comes in the large size and includes tripe, beef brisket, meatballs, tendon I always go for the combo pho so I can try all the different types of meat. Delicious and warm-it's comfort food for me! I also added in the leaves and bean sprouts.

Yelp
Considering how many international chains are in Katy Asian Town, I'm pleased to see a local one like Yummy Pho & Bo Ne in the mix. There aren't many Vietnamese spots in this part of town, let alone places that offer something as niche as bo ne. The dining space can be a little tight, especially on the weekends when it's often a full house. There is a good number of seats in here, even if the tables are a tad too close to each other. They have TVs playing along the wall and in the background. They're often more busy than not, which I have always viewed as a good thing. Food wise, it's all somewhere in the middle. I liked their nem cuon, cha gio, but thought their nui xao was lacking. The short rib pho normally has a wow factor to it, but the meat was tough and the broth was very average. I appreciate the amount of meat in the bowl, which was hearty overall. The presentation for the bo ne was on point, even if the meat felt a tinge overcooked. The spam and egg are always a nice touch and the banh mi was soft enough to soak up some of the juice / sauce. I don't think the dish was bad per se, but it wasn't as impressive as other places I've been and certainly doesn't outdo some of their sister locations. The service feels somewhat understaffed and the waits can sometimes be a bit of a drag. Even though this is my least favorite Yummy Pho location, I still will come here in hopes of finding something that they do better than the rest.

Yelp
Quick service, nice and clean. Straight forward menu, consistent and always hits the spot! Their yummy pho is A TONNNN OF MEAT, they're defiantly not shy on that. The pho broth is SOO yummy and flavorful. The bo ne steak just melts in your mouth, the pate and banh mi is superb! Love love this place!!

Yelp
I live in humble area and whenever I drive to Katy for Hmart grocery shopping, I'll stop by yummy pho & bo ne. Their bo ne is such a fulfilling dish; the beef melts right in my mouth and sauce is super juicy soaked well with banh mi, something about the pate is right on point always, also they added spam most other places serve bo ne don't have spam, I love spam! Their pho broth has the right aroma and flavorful. They added ton of meats in their pho and variety of options for healthy proteins. Love this place!

Yelp
We had the BBQ pork grilled sandwiches. The French baguette was horribly stale. So it ruined the sandwich. The pork had a good flavor but too chewy and fatty. I couldn't quit spitting the chewy fatty parts out. I wouldn't go back. Service was nice.

Yelp
Wow! This was delicious. We ordered the Wagyu Pho, one for my husband, one for me. It was so flavorful and rich. The meat was like butter and so soft. We are got a free Thai Tea for ordering two of this meal. We will be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Perhaps my most favorite Vietnamese in the greater Houston Area. They do the Bo Ne just right. The crispness and warmth of the French baguette that it comes with, the softness of the beef, melding it all together with the the butter and Pate, and sunny side up egg makes this dish all too perfect I have gotten the Yummy pho on occasion as well, and that is always excellent (be sure to always ask for the fresh noodles)

Yelp
We tried this one out because we liked the one in Pearland. We came during lunch so it was busy, but the wait was short. This place had plenty of seating, loud environment and very chill. Our table was clean and decent. I felt like the employees were rushing and they didn't take the time to provide customer service. Our waiter wasn't very friendly and just wanted to take the order and felt rushed. No one really came by to ask if everything was ok and how everything was going throughout our lunch. The food was good. But unfortunately, they didn't do customized orders-- which was really disappointing. The other branch in Pearland are open to customizing which we appreciate. Pearland allowed us to add proteins to our orders without any issues and just added additional charge. They also didn't have a kids menu like the other branch had. So I had to order a large portion for my kid and pay regular price for. The portions are worth it. We ordered fresh spring rolls, crispy egg rolls, fried wontons, 3 pho soups, shrimp fried rice that we wanted to add beef to (but they said they can't do that), and grilled pork w/ rice. They had no sriracha available (which was unfortunate because it's usually standard to have at Vietnamese restaurants-- so this was the first) and we only got chili oil upon requesting. I had to take 2 stars out because customer service could've been better, unable to customize orders even when we offered to pay extra for, and no kids menu. I hope they can approve on those things. I'd still come back and give it another try. Maybe some days are more hectic than others and I get it.

Yelp
My friend & I decided to come here after a long Hoop session at the Park. This location has decent reviews so I wanted to see what they're about. To be honest I thought the food was just average at best. Here's what I ordered. * egg rolls- pretty boring in flavor, I honestly don't think it was made in house & that it came from a bag & then refried. * chargrilled chicken- flavorless. The chicken was extremely dry & rubbery. Sauce definitely needed to be added to give it some flavor. The bread was over toasted. * Pho- it wasn't bad but it wasn't great. The broth was bland & it was just sweet. I needed to add a lot of fixings & sauce to up the flavor. The meat wasn't bad especially the beef balls, they were soft and melt in your mouth. Overall, it was just an alright experience. The service was also okay, but in the end, our server did redeem himself by asking if my food was good. I told him straight up, it was just "fair". He informed me next time if I come back to order the Bo Ne which is their steak & eggs & also get the Bun Bo Hue. One of my favorite Vietnamese dishes is the Bun Bo Hue, so I'll order that next time.

Yelp
8/10 The Special : Bo Ne Dish number 15 on menu. If you enjoy filet mignon , spam and eggs in a sizzling plate I would definitely recommend this hot goodness. It's $15 but if you willing to spend a little than you will enjoy the plate. FYI: portion is a little small, so maybe get something that is more filling like pho in the side . I would give it a 9/10 , but at $15 is little steep. Service : 6/10 . They do a decent job . Restroom: 7/10 : it's ok , not spotless. Parking : could be tough especially on a weekend . Better come on a weekday . Overall I would come again . But that price point still too high.

Yelp
Walked in and my family was greeted and seated immediately. The restaurant seemed calm and clean. They were playing pop music. We enjoyed the pho. I wish they would add cilantro to their pho veggies. They didn't have sriracha, but apparently there is a shortage, so I'm not blaming them. They serve canned drinks instead of a soft drink machine. The waiter served the food but never came back to check on us to see if we needed anything. Overall it was a decent experience.

Yelp
The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were very excited to try Yummy Pho as we really love pho. I can tell you that they didn't disappoint. The pho was delicious. Our kids ordered a chicken Bahn Mi and Chicken pho and they destroyed their food. My father-in-law doesn't normally like trying new food and he got the shaken beef and really enjoyed it. I also got a pro tip from a friend to ask for a side of the oil from the meat and it was a really good addition. Also, he asked me after if they put pieces of green onion in the oil and I told him they did and he said this is a good pho place then. Haha! While the food was great and there was plenty of seating in the restaurant, the floors were very greasy and slippery and the bathrooms needed some work. All in all, I look forward to going back and my mouth is watering and stomach is growling now thinking about it. Cheers!

Yelp
Im not an expert on Vietnamese food but i do love to eat it from time to time. Was looking for a place to have lunch and since I don't live too far from here I decided to give it a try. I ordered the banh mi with bbq pork and a fried egg. I wish I had specified that I wanted it runny, instead I got well done. Nevertheless it was very good. Bread was toasty and flavors were on point. I also ordered the Cơm Chiên Bò Lúc Lắc which is a plate with filet mignon pieces mixed with grilled onions and peppers with a side of rice. The filet mignon bits were delicious. I do have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by the peach ice tea. Overall, food and service was good. I wouldnt say extraordinary but it was a nice place for lunch if you're in the mood for Vietnamese food. I didn't get to try the Phó because it was hot day and wasn't in the mood but I might go back and try it.
google avatar

Jess N.

Yelp
Bò né with spam is unusual but I guess normalized at this restaurant chain. Overall it was ok but we've had better elsewhere. You'll also get a generous amount of meat if you order pho. Service is very nice and prompt.
google avatar

Richard R.

Yelp
This is a busy, bustling pho shop with a nice buzz to it. The pho broth is above average. The spring rolls and dipping sauce are excellent. The white meat chicken in the pho was high quality and plentiful. I look forward to trying some entrees. Fast and pleasant service. Very efficient operation. Great menu, inclusive of vegetarians, with many choices.
google avatar

Yelp
This is the third location of this authentic Vietnamese restaurant that I've had the pleasure of dining at. While the ambiance is simple with basic chairs and tables and no fancy decor, it's the food that truly shines. For me, a key indicator of a great pho restaurant is the quality of the broth, and these folks truly deliver on that front. I indulged in their delectable pho, and the harmonious combination of meats and broth was nothing short of magical. If you're a fan of pho and crave genuine Vietnamese cuisine, I highly recommend this place.
google avatar

John O.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite spots in Katy Chinatown. The bbq pork spring rolls are so delicious with the peanut sauce. The egg rolls are crunch and warm and come with lettuce leaves, pickled carrots and the dipping sauce. I also ordered a bbq pork banh mi which was fresh, full of meat, fresh jalapeño slices, carrots, cilantro and cucumber on a fresh baked french baguette. The prices are very modest and the hosts are always very helpful and generous. I cant say enough good things about this place. Will definitely be back soon.
google avatar

Moni M.

Yelp
CAUTION! I saw white buckets of pho broth sitting uncovered on the floor directly at entrance to the kitchen? Any debris or worse could fall into them? I left sickened and highly disgusted. It is not wheelchair accessible to the restrooms. The hallway is filled with boxes and other impediments, impeding any mobile assistant device to enter the women or men restroom.

Chloe P.

Yelp
My family and I visited Katy and we decided to try out this place after shopping at H Mart. The beef rib pho and bo ne is delicious! We will be back again!
google avatar

Yelp
Stop by here on our way from Austin to Houston. It's a cute little spot with a bright and good atmosphere. We were greeted by the owner and he was very friendly. They suggested a few dishes and the egg rolls are definitely a top recommendation. I had the Bun Bo Hue and it was pretty good.
google avatar

Carolyn S.

Yelp
Some of the best vegetarian pho I have found in Katy! Although they do not have vegan broth options, they do have a variety of vegetables added to the pho itself.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here on a sat night. Food came out pretty fast. Bo ne and banh mi were delish. Our server was also very attentive . :)

Yelp
I love the lemongrass chicken. It is flavorful and delicious. The to go order was assembled with care. My favorite Vietnamese restaurant!

Yelp
Stopped by Yummy Pho & Bo Ne today for dinner because I was craving for some pho even though it was hot as hell outside. It was really good and the bowl was a big portion with a lot of meat. I ordered the Yummy Pho and the beef rib was very tender. The wifey ordered bun bo not pictures and she was it was also good.
google avatar

Annie C.

Yelp
Food was not that good and service was mediocre. They didn't check on us at all. So hungry still!
google avatar

Lanie E.

Yelp
Everything was amazingly delicious. We got the fried egg rolls and The Yummy Pho w short rib! lots of food
google avatar

Mark L.

Yelp
Don't bother going now, pho broth is watered down, service was garbage, and place was dirty. First time I went there in 2018 it was good. Now, the pho is a joke. I always finish my food & broth, but in Dec 2023 when I went I left half of my food. Key to pho is the bone broth, this broth is way too watered down. The interior is nice, but I go to eat not the view. Go to a different pho joint.
google avatar

Florentin D.

Yelp
Was just craving eggs rolls, and we t to try this place. The service was okay, i ordered eggs rolls to go and ended up with some spring rolls, so make sure to check your order before leaving if you are ordering to go. Other than that, the restaurant has a pretty good amount of sitting tables for dining. Not somewhere i would go back again
google avatar

Amy B.

Yelp
Love the yummy pho & Bo ne franchise! I usually go for the yummy pho because I love the short rib that comes with it. I think the amount of meat you get definitely makes the rice more reasonable. However I will admit that the depth of flavor in the broth is a little lacking. Service wasn't the best, but it wasn't bad enough to affect the review. It was super busy, but I went by myself so I was seated pretty quickly. They got my order wrong multiple times. I had asked for the pork and shrimp spring rolls but was initially given the wrong kind. I told one of the servers, and it was quickly corrected. However I had also asked for the pho without tripe or meatball, but they didn't take it out and I ended up just putting it in an empty bowl. Since I don't have an allergy it was an easy fix but may have been an issue otherwise. Despite the many mistakes with the service, I still really enjoyed the food and will be back again!
google avatar

Nhi V.

Yelp
Solid spot for pho. Food always comes out 5-10 mins after ordering and the flavors have remained consistent which I appreciate. Highly recommends the Yummy Pho which comes with a huge chunk of tender beef short rib and the Pho Bo Xao which is a dry pho that comes with stir fried beef. Spring roll and fried wontons are also great for appetizers. The only downside is that the appetizers will either come with the entree or after, so it might be a bit overwhelming having a lot food arriving at the same time.

Yelp
Houston has plenty of Vietnamese restaurants, another gem of a spot in Katy 5/5. Great location, easy standard dining room. Best part, the sizzling Bo Ne dish with amazing amazing soft crispy crunchy bread. This restaurant should just sell the bread alone, Capital S for soft. The firm yet tender cubes of beef soak in the sizzling plate sauce, very very tender, the spam tends to crisp up which adds more texture. Rip off a slice of bread, smear some pat le and Mayo, then add a piece of beef all dipped into a runny egg mixed together, Fire fire fire, salt, sweet, gritty, crispy, crunchy, soft all in 1 bite. The Pho is amazing, clean strong beef flavor with filet mignon quality meat. I've been eating pho for 35 years, another example of authentic bowl or Vietnam. Must try.

Yelp
Heard some good things about this place so we decided to stop by and try! They had a lot of great options and I got a few of the classics: Bo Ne -It came with a small salad and bread with pate and butter. This wasn't bad, I didn't like the spam that they put on there because it's not as firm as actual spam and just kinda soft. Still an overall good dish, the meat stood out because it was extremely tender. Special Pho -The broth was light and very good! The pho here hit the spot and I'm glad we chose this. Com Chien Bo Luc Lac -The rice was a little under seasoned but the meat on this was also very tender! Overall, everything was pretty yummy. I think the biggest flaw here was the fish sauce they use. I asked for fish sauce to add to my pho and whatever else but this fish sauce seriously tastes so watered down. You can't even taste it, and we added a lot. I wish they used a different one ):
google avatar

Yelp
Mty white meat chicken Pho was great, and the add on fried egg yolk was perfect. I love to mix the yolk into the broth plus a little chili oil. On the fence about their only hot tea option. Not really my style, but unique. My wife didn't care for it too much. My wife's charbroiled lemongrass chicken wasn't as good as she would have liked. It was a little tough and dry for her and the lemongrass flavor could have been a little stronger. She wants to go back and try the pho. I really liked the broth and the amount of chicken. If I want chicken pho in Katy Asian Town, right now this was my favorite.

Yelp
The food was great :) I had the bo ne beef + sandwich. The services were quick too :) .

Yelp
This place is one of my favorites and Katy Asian town. They have traditional Vietnamese dishes along with great pho. Great service. Expect a wait if it is on the weekend. Other than that would recommend anybody looking to try a new place
google avatar

Robert B.

Yelp
The food here is consistently excellent! Service is quick even when they're busy (which they often are). The ambience is modern and no frills but it's always so clean. What a gem!
google avatar

Yelp
The food is good or above average a bit. However, when I left the restaurant I over heard the owner talking on her cellphone complaining about American and some Asian customers parking in front of her restaurant but walking across the close by retail center strip to eat at Phan Ky noodle house or Pho Sapa. It was crazy listening to this conversation. The parking spaces to this shopping center are very congested and it is for all public parking so get over it. I'm sure you have people parking their car at the Phan Ky noodle house and come over to eat at your restaurant too.

Gerry I.

Yelp
The soup was horrible the basil leaf was old and black spots. Hardly any meat below par was not fresh. Also very expensive at $12. It wasn't even worth three dollars. We will never go there again. This is our second time the first time the food was not even cooked all the way I would give it a zero if I could.
google avatar

Crystal C.

Yelp
Pros: I'd like to than my sister for introducing me to bo ne. Will be forever something I crave. Cons: Crazy busy. Service is blah. Pho OK.

Yelp
What a day today for lunch. This place was so packed , their pho is super good. I had their salty Lemonade as a drink , that was good too. Will be coming back here tomorrow for lunch to try different items on the menu.
