"For a cheap handheld option I suggest Yumpling D.C.'s dumplings: six for $5, available in pork, beef or shrimp." - Eater Staff

Yumpling - Review - Midtown - New York - The Infatuation

"LIC favorite Yumpling has forded the East River, with a new location open in Midtown (where it once operated as a food truck). Just don't let the fast-casual Taiwanese spot's name fool you—we like the dumplings at the LIC location, but the fried chicken sandwich is even better. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Molly Fitzpatrick

Yumpling, a Fast-Casual Taiwanese Spot, Opens in Midtown | Eater NY

"Started as a flea-market stand and later a Midtown food truck before expanding into a Long Island City takeout restaurant in 2020 that has become a Queens standby over the past five years. The new Midtown outpost, announced in 2024 and opening this week, is a fast-casual, primarily takeout-focused spot with a few seats designed to keep lines moving and appeal to the nearby millennial office lunch crowd around Madison Avenue and Rockefeller Center. The menu mirrors the LIC location, featuring pan-fried dumplings (pork, chicken, veggie, or mixed), rice bowls with fried pork chop, crispy chicken, lou rou fan, or basil eggplant, and noodle dishes such as classic beef noodle soup. Its compact, quick-service setup slots into a growing wave of fast-casual bowl and Taiwanese spots diversifying Midtown lunch options." - Emma Orlow

Yumpling, a Taiwanese Dumpling Shop, Is Opening in Midtown | Eater NY

"I watched Yumpling grow from a flea market stand to a food truck and, by 2020, into a full restaurant in Long Island City; this fall the fast-casual Taiwanese spot is opening a second Midtown location at 16 E. 52nd Street between Madison and Fifth avenues. The menu will be mostly the same — dumplings, noodles, popcorn chicken, etc. — with a few items selected for the new location, and, as owner Chris Yu told Eater, “Truck days have proven that our food will do well in the city and since we are most fast-casual than dine-in, we are hoping the young millennial work crowd will treat us well.”" - Emma Orlow

I have been to Yumpling LIC location a few times when I crave for homemade Taiwanese food. Recently I learned they have a 2nd location opened in midtown, I finally got a chance to go today. I went with 2 other friends and we shared 4 dishes, again Yumpling didn’t disappoint! The food was authentic and flavorful, services efficient and cordial! There are some comfortable seats and ample space for people moving along the ordering kiosks or just hang out while waiting for their orders. The interior decor gives a classy and modern vibe. I will definitely come back whenever I am nearby.

The chicken Bian Dang ($15 plus tax), a crispy breaded chicken breast over rice with sides, is their best value. Their namesake pork and chive yumplings ($7.75 for 4), disappointingly were too salty. Skip the iced taro latte boba ($6.50) as it was too sweet; get your bubble tea fix elsewhere. With only a few stools and a communal table, Yumpling could use more indoor seating.

I’m so happy the Taiwanese food-truck-now-restaurant Yumpling opened a spot Midtown! I’m a frequent customer at their LIC location and now there’s one right by my office 😄😄 My fave go-to is the chicken bian dang, that’s essentially lu rou fan topped with crispy chicken. At this location they offer 2 sides (my faves are the cucumber and lotus root). You can’t go wrong with the titular YUMplings too, especially good to share with officemates. When I came on a Thursday lunch time, it was PACKED with office workers, but the line moved so quick! I’m impressed with their speedy service and friendliness.

I can see why this place has nothing but 5 stars and I couldn’t agree more! I got the steamed pork yumplings and crispy chicken rice bowl w the pickled cabbage & cucumbers as my sides. The dumplings were out of this world tasty, I devoured them in 5 seconds lol. The chicken is juicy, flavored impeccably, and an excellent portion size for the price. On top of that, the space itself is super cute, beyond efficient ordering process, and top notch customer service. My only regret is that I didn’t find this place sooner!! Can’t wait to come back soon

Came here twice so far and loved it each time. Very happy to have them across the street from my office for days when I don’t bring food from home. The fried chicken rice bowl is a great portion and can be split into two meals. The portion of chicken is great. Looking forward to the colder months so I can get their beef noodle soup!

It’s a comfortable place to visit even on your own. I’d always been curious about Taiwanese food since it was my first time trying it, so I was really looking forward to coming here! I spent quite some time deciding what to order, but I think I would’ve enjoyed anything on the menu. Most of all, the staff were very kind and quick to respond to feedback, which made me want to give an even higher rating. The food was great — thank you so much!

My second time here this week. Good value, portion, and delicious! The owner is also super nice and their customer service is awesome. Tried the dumplings and noodles last time and loved it. Great lunchtime option if you work nearby.

Delicious and comforting food served quickly. We tried 3 dishes and loved them all. Crispy Chicken bowl. Pork and chive dumplings and Lu Rou fan bowl. Didn’t get a pic of the Lu Rou because I started eating right away.
