"Straddling an entire corner and tucked along the edge of downtown LA, this airy spot woos with an open kitchen and industrial look combining exposed ducts, brick walls and glass-block windows. Over in the kitchen, the menu goes on to please palates with favorites like chunky guacamole. Tostaditas de ceviche have just the right amount of crunch, heaped with citrus-marinated whitefish, diced cucumber, mango, avocado and slivered fresh chili for a zesty one-two punch. Enchiladas de mole arrive with generous chunks of roasted chicken and enveloped in a dark brown mole poblano that is sweet with ripe plantain and balanced by bitter chocolate and myriad other ingredients. Silky-smooth flan ends things nicely, especially with a shot of custard-rich rompope." - Michelin Inspector

On our first night in LA, we stumbled upon this Michelin Star Mexican restaurant, and it was a delicious find. Among all the dishes I tried during my LA stay, this ranked among the best. The Metro made for a quick commute from downtown LA. Plus, post-meal, Little Tokyo's vibrant bars are just a short stroll away.

This has been my favorite Mexican place in LA for years. And it is closing on May 31, the end of this month. It is an amazing space, beautifully designed in the worst part of downtown LA (unfortunately, one of the reasons they're closing). The design and decor of the restaurant is super dope. The space is open and beautiful. The service is always top shelf. I've never come and had an issue. The bartenders are fun and have a lot of charisma, happy hours are the best. Their drinks are tasty and have a kick. The servers are knowledgeable of the menu and friendly and very personable and I'm going to really miss this place. The food... the food is unbelievable. Full of flavor. Just the right amount of bougie taste mixed with good old fashioned Mexican food. The tablitas which is for 2 is what my daughter and I usually order. She ordered it for herself tonight. The special was a ribeye and it was perfect. They calabacitas make me want to go home and try to cook them myself, they're so tasty. My friend and mom loved their fish tacos (couldn't even get a pic of them) and the churro ice cream is my daughter's favorite dessert. Everything I've tried there is great. Guacamole. Beef tacos for appetizers. They are known for their pork tacos and my friends love them. If you can get there before they close, check them out. Make a reservation. Otherwise, they have 2 sister restaurants, Mercado and another one on Pasadena I do not know the name of. But it's on Mercado's site. Yxta, we love you! You will be missed! I pray you open up somewhere else. You have the best staff and best manager, and I pray they are taken care of once this is gone. Thank you for food times, good memories and good food!

Atmosphere is spacious. Not feeling very close others at the next table. Very chill vibe. Great staff & was very friendly and attentive. My sweet shrimp plate was delicious!!! Hey they compliment you too. They loved my shoes!😁😄😄

Great food and excellent service. They had really tasty mocktails. The neighborhood isn't the best but the inside is great.

Excellent margaritas and tacos. The service was very friendly at the bar. The bartender was quick with refills, but not overbearing. It’s location on Skid Row was a negative, but take a Lyft or Uber and it will be well worth it!

One of the best pozoles I’ve ever had. With the most tender pork bits yet firm hominy, I ordered myself two bowls. Pozole is only available on Saturdays for 8$! It’s a small bowl but that’s why I got two. Sooooo good. The right amount of spice and savory. 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤 the staff is so friendly here! I felt right at home. After coming here again but for more!!! I was especially impressed. Everything here is delicious. Expensive but OH SO worth it!!!

I am a big fan of Mercado and I had a lunch meeting in the downtown area so I decided to try here. Menu was very similar to Mercado and the food is always delicious, if you’re a fan of high-end Mexican cuisine I highly recommend this restaurant.

delicious guacamole and amazing food. our service was very slow and we had to constantly ask for tortillas (that came with our meals) and for our drinks. also can be a little pricey... HINT never go on Cinco de Mayo.
