Zippy's Ewa

This is the first stop I always make when I come home to Hawaii. Love the food and always have. Of you are looking for a good place to eat this is it. Would recommend this place and will continue to come back. Will make it a point to go again before I leave.

Delicious dinner food. The chili rice with cheese and onions was filling and flavorful. Others had the loco moco (mini), saimin, and salmon katsu. So much food! But it was all so good! And the service was friendly. We will be back.

Zippy’s Ewa has always been my go-to Zippy’s spot and I always order their Korean Fried Chicken plate. However, on the last few orders of my KFC plate, the chicken portions that I got were more like chicken skin. I’m not trying to talk bad about it, but I was unhappy when two out of eight pieces of chicken on my plate had meat & the rest were just crunchy skin. One thing I’ve noticed though is when I order my plate in the morning/afternoon, my plate is full of nice pieces of chicken. But when I order in the evening, the plate has less chicken meat & more skin.

Food is just delicious now as I remember saimin noodles during my childhood in Hawaii. The flavor of the soup you can't forget, it just has that taste you can't get anywhere else. Service is good when it's not too busy but expect to wait a bit during lunch/dinner time. It's like everywhere else and worth it!

Went at 3:23pm- loved it! No line! The manager took my To-Go order, and she was a breath of sunshine! Very patient with me, because I really couldn’t decide what to order. Her name was Hazel M. I also got a free long john pastry because of my birthday! ZIPPY’s is fortunate to have such nice, respectful and courteous employees. Thank you Hazel!

I had the breakfast. Food was excellent and the service was quick. I ordered pancakes and hash browns. Very nice atmosphere and the price was reasonable.

This Zippy's can get a little busy. Even with it being busy, the food is always great and the service is just as good. We didn't wait too long for our food and the server was awesome and checked in on us every now and then, which was greatly appreciated. I appreciate the great customer service!

We love coming here for a mellow meal. The servers are so sweet, and the food is local and pretty good. The chili cheese fries are so yummy. Fries are super crispy and the chili is really good. The noodles are flavorful and plenty big portion.

Zippys food will always be ono and a hit. Do yourself a favor and dine in. Take out just takes forever unless you pre-order. Korean fried chicken with chili for the win. Wuntun min if you're feeling different...

Ordered an Apple Napple. It's like "Where's the Beef" commercial! Where's the Apple filling??? The napple was fresh and flaky however missing the filling.

The food is what you'd expect from Zippy's; local comfort classics that hit the spot when you're craving something familiar. But the dine-in service at this location is consistently slow. Every time we've tried to eat in, we end up standing around waiting to be seated with zero acknowledgment from the staff. It feels like they forget anyone's out front. Most times, we just give up and order from the takeout counter instead; which is much quicker. If you're hungry and in a rush, skip dine-in and go straight to takeout. You'll get the same food with a lot less waiting.

Happy National Chili Day... Yup that's today along with National Strawberry Day and a special recognition for me as well with meeting up with a friend for lunch made it kinda special day and as I drove around like a mission needed to be done I decided to stop at Zippy's and this Ewa location does have a special place in my heart. With a much needed break this I stopped here since they do have lots of free parking and super easy access from either direction you're coming from and the vibe here is relaxing as the dining room is nice and clean, the service here is just so friendly as I jumped to order my regular chili on white rice and it was beanless for me (they have vegetarian as well) and the special was 25% which is huge and who could you some savings...me! You can enjoy their famous chili in so many other ways as mine is on top of spaghetti, but there are Chili Hot Dog, Chili Burger, or just a Chili Plate whatever your cravings they can do it and am so happy to have the lucky timing to enjoy this famous chili on their special day. Thank you!

I got a fried chicken plate for my son and it was horrible. The chicken was so dry and cold. It was probably sitting out for several hours. He was so hungry he still ate it. Poor thing. I wish this establishment would put more pride and effort into their food. I don't plan on wasting my money here again.

To me, Zippy's is all about comfort food. I don't know if it's the greatest. I know that the quantities have reduced, but the flavor is the same so it brings back a lot of memories. This location and beach is close by so it's easy to swing by and they have both takeout as well as a dine in. The dining room is very cold so anybody who is sensitive to it being a little bit chilly because of the air conditioning bring a jacket as usual. The service of the waitresses are always very good. They always keep your waters filled if you get water. All in all, this is a good example of a well run Zippys

When you have a hard time deciding where to eat, you can never go wrong with zippys! Love their meat sauce spaghetti and zip pac. Roast pork was a little tough but gravy was good. Ordered through the app, it's fast and easy; so convenient. You even get zip coins that you can later use to get free stuff, unfortunately the rewards expire if not used in a specific time frame!

when you pay over $20 for a surf pac. you don't expect overcooked chicken.... also the food was cold....

Don't EVER use the app to order Bakery items. Ordered a 6" round cake online for pickup in the ewa restaurant,NOT COMPLICATED. got there 10 min later and waited almost 20 min to get my cake order. Waited for my name to clear the in progress board, while others walked up to the cashier and Bakery, ordered and left! In fact I would never use the app to order anything. Never got the update text, had to finally ask about my order. I told cashier it was ordered 30min ago and my name is still on the "in progress" list and I still didn't receive any text updates, she got the cake and and said "have a good one" no thanks for waiting, or so sorry for the wait. Oh by the way, no receipt attached to the bag and finally a text update 7:51pm already in the car.. ordered 7:16pm. ONE ALREADY MADE CAKE.

Updated menu, same local food. Happy to see they brought the Clubhouse back & now they serve the full breakfast menu ALL DAY! Service and timing was actually great last night, but it is hit or miss, unfortunately. This location always seems to have their AC at full blast, so just a tip if you have no insulation like me, BRING A JACKET! Enjoy :)

Try the dobash cake!!! The food is home to the island and the service can be okay. It is a typical fast food restaurant

This place is a hit or miss. When it's not busy food takes forever to come out, but when it is busy food is out quick. There are times when you get the best service, no problem and other times it's like whaaaat? Like most occasions when we come for last minute dinner, the hostess has the most unnecessary attitude. You get told to scan QR code to get on the dining wait list (already tried) but if you have a party of 7 & more you have to talk to them and let them know, as per what it says on their QR site. Yet you just get "but did you scan the code?" Like obviously if I did, I wouldn't be talking to you!? You literally saw me walk in with a whole party? Do you not know what it says on your own QR site? Another miss; their Korean fried chicken. Why does it always come out raw in the middle?! It's not only this location too! So disappointing. Even at times their fried chicken is dry!

Server was friendly, helpful, patient & quick. Surprisingly a long wait on a Wednesday night (10/23/24) for sit down, pick up & even the drive thru line was long outside. Ample parking. Lots of inside seating. Food, of course, delicious! Always gotta hit up Zippy's on vacay...

Never been to this zippys before.. I heard it is the busiest location and I dont doubt that...we got here around 9pm on a wednesday night and the counter and dinning room was busy and I can see why we had to wait a good 20 minutes . THe food is always good (prob taste better when you have to wait lol) Anyways of course dinning room and bathroom clean food is always good and prices always on the high side and value is ok but alot of other places with better deals. Its Zippys Doh!!!

For starters they was really rude. Let someone go ahead of me and that's not right. I ordered mini breakfast and it's like no eggs. I got egg whites. It it's so small.. this is not the first time I buy this.. but very upsetting.. also, the music was loud and it had lots of swearing. I don't agree with that kinda of work ethics.. I will not be going back..

I regret writing this review but it's necessary. I grew up eating at Zippy's and have always loved it. However, my recent experiences have been disappointing. My favorite chili has always been at Zippy's, but the portions have become so sparse, it's ridiculous. How much does it cost to make chili?

Been here countless times and my experience has always been better than average for this location! This last time was a 5-star experience! Bf and I came in after a long day of travel. We wanted something quick and decided on a Zip Pac for me and Zip Pac Deluxe for him. It was NYE and we felt terrible coming in 30 min before they were closing the dining area at 3 pm for the holiday (We didn't know until we got there). We decided to chance um and checked in with the hostess. She was so kind about accommodating us. We were impressed with the service - no attitude or sassiness as I would have understood given we got there at an inconvenient time. Then the food! Given we were there last minute I was expecting maybe some of the food may have been sitting around already but everything was fresh! The fried chicken and mahi mahi were piping hot out of the oil, not greasy or dried out. Generous serving with the rice, teri beef. Our zip pacs hit the spot having travelled that day and was a perfect meal to start off this trip home. And even better was the Zippy's Ewa team for accommodating us with so much aloha on NYE. I've watched this restaurant get worse and worse over the years. After waiting 30mins for my online order, I then got stuck in the parking lot for another 15mins because their drive thru line was backed up. They also make the worst fried chicken. It's so dry and rough, I wouldn't even feed it to my dog. Stay away from this place. Try Kapolei or Waipahu instead.

We ordered from the take out side and sat down and awaited our number to be called. Once we picked it up and sat down The French fries were cold along with the Portuguese bean soup. Then 2 parts of the order were wrong, but we are regulars at zippy's and normally it's a 3- star and sometimes a four, but today just happened to be a tough day I guess. What really stinks is the size of the cup they give you for free water. It's the size of a Dixie cup so I asked for a large water and they charged us 78 cents!! 78 cents for a cup of water!!! I can see 50 cents to include tax to pay for the cup but zippys is a local favorite so why the need to take advantage of us? A paper cup must cost 10 cents each with shipping cost let's say 20 cents so why not charge 50 cents including tax? You're still making a profit. It's water after all. We love zippys. My kids love zippys and I take my grandkids to zippys. We like the ambiance too! But, the prices are being raised and the quality has dropped. Fries taste better hot upon receiving them and shocked that my Portuguese bean soup was cold, but like I said, maybe a benefit of a doubt is required. I will go back, but if it's the same, I will take family there less often.

This zippys always take so long if I'm just trying to get takeout. Dine in is fine. Do not go to this zippys for takeout unless you like waiting. Estimated time of order was 10:55, got pushed to 11 and currently writing this 11:30 as a hungry filipino who just wants some korean chicken.

One of the better Zippy's dine-in on island. Got the chicken trio with chili cheese fries. Clean, good service, bathroom close by, can't complain.

Ordered the local favorites platter and my sister ordered the Korean chicken platter. We both received text that our orders were ready for pickup. I drove there and mine was ready but my sisters wasn't. Had to wait 10 minutes which made no sense because we were already notified it was ready. Mind you I went 10 minutes after receiving the texts and I still had to wait. My platter was missing the kats sauce and the tartar sauce which pretty much made the kats just plain chicken and the fish plain as well since neither has very much taste without the sauces. My sisters Korean chicken platter barely even had any sauce so it was flavorless chicken as well. It was crispy but it was too much where it was hard to even eat the Korean chicken because it was too over cooked. Hard and dry. Everything was just terrible today. Luckily I was able to somewhat save the local favorites platter by making homemade sauces but it defeats the purpose of buying takeout. Overall terrible experience.

It's been years since I've visited Hawaii. So like Shake Shack in New York, or Whataburger in Texas, or even Roscoe's in SoCal, I felt the need to try Zippy's in Hawaii before the end of my vacation. No relevance in food categories, but I had to try the local 'love it or hate it' food chain in-person. Glad I tried it too! Here's the scoop: Dining / Atmoshphere: ~ I don't recall seeing tables, but there were good-sized booths, and they appeared to be clean. Nothing fancy, just setup similar to a Denny's or IHOP. ~ Average talking family noise-level type of atmosphere. It did get a bit louder, as it got busier in the short time we were here. Food / Service: ~ Chicken Trio ($17.25) to try it all! This had chicken katsu, a fried chicken thigh, and Korean fried chicken with rice and mac salad. I didn't care for the mac salad as it was bland imo. The katsu I liked, but the KFC and thigh was a bit over-fried. I used the chili (no beans) to soften things up. ~ Zip Pac Deluxe ($20.95) was a local favorite with steak, crispy fish, a slice of spam, and a fried chicken thigh. Mac salad and chili on the side. This was a better combo with a little bit of everything. ~ Zippy's Famous Chili ($3.05 small bowl side) which is what they're known for and the reason why I wanted to come here in the first place. And I gotta say, it tastes just as good as their frozen chili packs from Costco lol. It's a versitile chill that can go well in a burger or hot dog. But good with any type of fried chicken in this case, I guess. I still liked it. ~ Grilled Cornbread ($3.10) good stuff. Not too buttery and not too dry. I dig it! ~ Napple Apple pie ($4.40), now this came out warmed up and yummy too! ~ As for service, we were helped by Jadelyn, who was on-point from start to finish! She made decent suggestions, took our order, and filled our water glasses when needed. When It got busier, she kept things positive and kept on smiling. She's the reason for the fourth star. Otherwise, Zippy's gets a 2- or 3-star review out of me. In closing, will I be back? Probably, but only to try a Chili Omelette with a side of Chili Cheese Fries. At least now I can tell folk, "Yes, I've been to Zippy's, and I'm glad they are all over Hawaii!"

While ordering I was watching this guy packing the food container with the plastic cover. Had trouble because couple pieces of chicken was causing issues with him snapping the cover on. He tried to move the chicken around with his bare hand and kept trying to push down the cover but to no avail. Then he put it to the side to maybe have someone else try? That's when I started paying for my food so I didn't notice how they eventually covered it. Gross!!!

Can you believe it's my very first time checking into Zippys? It will probably be my last time also. This location is huge. Parking is plenty. So much room at the bakery side. The restaurant side is also clean and spacious. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. Most of Zippys entries are fried and fried some more and loaded with carbs. Definitely gotta try it. Don't get me wrong, I loved mine. Hot dogs, slice of spam, Korean fried chicken and thigh. Smothered with chili and rice to balance. Not to forget mac salad. My party ordered kids' milk and a few soft drinks and ice tea. Each of them were $5. Yes, $5 for each. Not too happy about that. At least, I can say I have been to Zippys.

Pretty decent sized location. Not too busy when I arrived, so I was assisted very quickly by a very friendly server. Ordered the loco moco and it instantly became one of my faves. The meat was cooked just right and was very flavorful (basicallya meat patty). The gravy was savory and not too heavy and served in a bed of rice with eggs on top. The ratio of rice to everything what was perfect. I hadn't eaten that morning, so this was a great breakfast. Menu had a lot of options as well, so I found myself going back and forth on some selections. Will definitely come back to this location!

Food is usually consistent. It's Zippys.. Except my chicken that was pretty dry. Service was ok. Our server was very sweet and apologetic but it was late and the kids food came out last. Our server took off the saimin that took 35 minutes to come out. Yes, I'll be back. Ewa doesn't have a lot of options after 8pm.

Thank you to the members at Zippy's Ewa takeout section!! I went in to use some fundraiser tickets that I had purchase from family for her cheer competition. Since I was picking these up for family on Kauai and they all wanted chili. Instead of giving me plastic containers that will probably spill or be damaged during my flight they offered to give me the sealed bag instead. It was a busy morning with all the hungry customers in and out of that place. But the staff were moving and still had a smile. They deserve a raise for all their hard work. Thank you again to that morning crew that was working, you made my experience and my trip a lot less stressful.

The last time I went to zippys ewa ordered benefit chili if took at least 30 minutes I was very patience I until it get to point that why is my chili take so long this is food is already to serve and I ask one of the girls in the front she give the excuse that they full fill the order accordingly to when was place it does not make sense why they could not make it since it is prep already when I get home my chili was spilled photo attached

This location fricken sucks the young girls working the counter are rude. I waited almost 45 min for my breakfast. Mind you I only ordered 2 plates food. And it wasn't even busy. While I waited for my food I see the cooks in the back laughing and goofing around and making all the employee meals before anyone else's. The food sucks its over cooked and burnt. I hate this location they need to train their workers better or replace them.

First time going to the Ewa Beach Zippy's I was very surprised with the amount of parking and the space for inside dinning and take out. The take out dinning area was kept clean and the counter staff was very nice and pleasant! We had the Fried Saimin noodles which was a little salty but very flavorful and tasty! The Korean chicken plate was tasty and with a slight crispy texture, and the Mac salad was also very good not overly dominated by mayonnaise. I enjoyed the spacing of the tables and they have a take out restroom and also one for the dinning area. They also had a lot of hand sanitizer posted around the restaurant and dining areas.

What a poor excuse for an apple pie with only a single slice of apple. New owners clearly only care about profits.

Service sucks big time! You want to pay your bill and wait help walks past you with no acknowledgment NOTHING. 3 of them to be exact! Each of them making eye contact with you. The restaurant is a joke. Our waiter was nice tho. The females tho, THE WORST! Walking around like they can't be bothered with.

I made an online order 1 hour prior to pickup for mac salad thinking it would save me some time. The app said my order was ready at 3:10pm, but I got there later due to traffic. I decided to go through the drive-thru line which had about 6 vehicles on front of me. I waited for over 7 minutes but the line did not move, so decided to go inside instead. When I got inside, there were about five employees behind the counter and no one taking orders or at the pick-up pre-paid line. There were two people in front of me, one that was waiting to pick-up and another customer waiting to order as no one was taking orders. It was a little disappointing that no one acknowledged our line but they did appear a bit busy for 3:30pm in the afternoon. I waited another 10 minutes to finally be helped in the "paid and pick-up here" line. The employee who ended up helping me was nice. No one acknowledged the customers inside and was more focused on the takeout window and phone orders instead. At this point, a Manager or Supervisor should have noticed it and had someone help the inside counter as there were six of us in line waiting to be helped. I hope that their service will get better. We use to come to this location all the time but haven't been here in a bit. When I left, I noticed that I would have been fourth in line in the drive-thru which means that they only helped three vehicles while I was inside. It looked a bit hectic, but if orders were not ready, they should have had them wait on side to assist the others in line. All in all, I was there for 20 minutes waiting which was very long for ordering through the app.

Gotta love Zippys. Picked up family for the swap meet and we all came home hungry. We stopped in at the Ewa Zippys for lunch and all left happy. Had the Katsu Chicken which is always good. Simple, affordable comfort food in a clean restaurant with great service. What more could you want?

Zippy's is a classic restaurant to dine in or order takeout for its comfort food. So i don't expect anything gourmet or even high quality but I feel like Zippy's has gone down hill throughout the years. I like their food, their chilli is good, i wouldn't get chilli anywhere else because Zippy's is like known for their chilli. But when i arrived to pick up my food after doing a doordash order pick up, my food was super cold, not even any heat under the tupperware, straight cold. It just makes me wonder lots of things. I know Zippy's food isn't made super fresh on the spot after placing an order, that's why I don't expect so much from them. I could place a pick up order 2 mins prior and I know my food would be ready because it's not fresh so the fact that they didn't even bother to heat up the food for me is something else like they don't care at all. And i'm not sure what the policy is with utensils but i got zero utensils. As for the food I ordered, chili is good obviously, you can't mess up chili, chicken is good with the sauce I poured(photo doesn't have the sauce on). Mac salad was bland. The Corn bread was not good, it was cold and didn't taste good at all, and i've had great tasting corn bread before.

Service was horrible not once did they come to refill our drinks or chefk to see if we needed anything... Food came out one at a time seems like if you're not a regular there you won't get proper service. Waiters have time to chat it up with their usual customers but forget about the others.

I've been to Zippy's quite a few times since my last review, but it's always for the breakfast plates. We usually order through the app for pick-up and enjoy our breakfast plates on the beach. The orders are on time and I don't think we've gotten an incorrect order yet. My go-to is the bento with rice, eggs, Portuguese sausage, and either bacon or corned beef hash. My new favorite is their chili. A side of their chili with the breakfast bento is *chef's kiss*. Next time, I think I'll try the chili moco.

I've been to a few Zippy locations.By far my experience at this location did start good.We waited to be seated for at least 30-40 minutes!.There were many empty booth's and people that came after us we seated 1st.When my girlfriend checked we weren't even on the list!..I was ready to just walk out!.Then my girlfriend went to ask how much longer is our wait???.So right then he took us to be seated.Soon after the waitress came we ordered our drinks then our meals.My girlfriend ordered the fried chicken plate n I had the Locomoco.The food didn't take long to arrive.My girlfriend enjoyed her fried chicken plate.It was crispy with the right amount seasoning. The amount of food on her plate was to much so finished it for her.My Locomoco was good!.The hamburger patties were perfectly cooked.Tender with right amount of flavor,over easy eggs and the mac salad was the cherry on the cake!.So good!.I even forgot about what happed in the beginning!..Also the service was okay..Honestly can't wait to eat at Zippy's on my next visit..

Went for dinner and we got sat right away. The waitress was not my favorite due to her inattentive nature, but it's Zippy's. The food was exactly what we expected and of course we ended with desert from the bakery. I didn't know that the napples were only in two standard flavors (apple and coconut) and a monthly flavor. I was craving chocolate, but I just missed it because July will have chocolate for the month. Overall a great time with the family!

5/28/25 - Ordered a Chantilly cake w/ Happy Birthday in blue written beautifully along with other desserts for takeout. Yuna provided excellent service.

I'm probably blowing this all out of proportion but I'm steamed. I ordered through the APP three pieces of Jin dui. I received an email it's ready for pickup 6:17. I arrived and checked in in stall 2. 6:25 l called and was told it would be right out. 6:32 others have come and gone. 6:40 others have gone in and came out with their orders. Called again. Order is ready. Someone is bring it out now. 6:45 cars on both sides of me has come and gone. I call again and was told the person missed my order and will bring it out now. 6:50 Nobody answer the phone. So I go inside and spoke to the manager. She goes in back and brings out my order. States it just came out. Well at least it hot. Why was it ready at 6:17. And only came out at 6:50? She said sorry and offered me a drink. I was too livid to accept.

We've dined at this location many times with our dog and never had any issues--until we encountered Dan, the hostess. Unlike previous visits, she suddenly insisted that our dog needed a service vest, despite this never being mentioned to us as requirement before. What made the experience worse was her rude and arrogant attitude. As we calmly explained that we had been allowed to dine with our dog in the past, she immediately shut us down, saying, "I don't care!" A professional and polite approach would have made a huge difference, but her unfriendly and dismissive tone made the situation unnecessarily unpleasant. If customer service is a priority, Zippy's should train their staff to be courteous and respectful, even when enforcing policies. If someone lacks basic manners, perhaps they'd be better suited for a role that doesn't involve direct customer interaction.

Does anyone else have problems with Ewa Zippy's? I placed my order on the app at 5:14pm when I was leaving ewa beach. 5:41p I get an update that it's in the kitchen. So I wait get to Zippy's and wait patiently. I even see my name on the board. After 6:15 still no update and my order was placed an hour ago. I go to the counter at 6:25 cause I no longer see my name on the board. I asked the guy about my order and he looks all over and finds nothing. He then asked what I ordered. After a minute or so another worker points to the counter behind him. I asked how long my order was there and he said he doesn't know because he didn't pack it. If I wasn't starving and didn't have my kids waiting at home for dinner I would've asked for a refund cause of the wait time and the food is no longer warm
