Zippy's - Review - Waikiki - Oahu - The Infatuation

"Zippy’s is a local chain with more than 20 locations across the state, but it’s way better than what you’ll normally find from a fast food spot. Everyone has their go-to Zippy’s order, whether that’s the famous chili with rice or a Zip Pac, a bento with teriyaki beef, Spam, fried chicken, and a fried fish filet. Ours is the saimin noodle soup with griddled cornbread—make sure to specify griddled, as this gives the airy cake a crisp crust. While most Zippy’s locations have cozy booth seating, it also makes for great takeout if you’re exploring and driving around the island." - Martha Cheng

The Best Malassada Bakeries in Honolulu | Eater

"A beloved local chain known for inexpensive local comfort food and as an all-day hangout for older patrons, this restaurant now fries malassadas to order at all locations; they’re served unfilled, dusted in plain or cinnamon sugar, and come three to an order. Smaller than some bakery versions but served hot and wonderfully light, they’re considered an essential, everyday way to experience a classic Hawaiian malassada." - Hillary Dixler Canavan

The food is OK, very typical for a fast food place. If brand new to ordering here make sure to ask about what you're getting for toppings as different items have different things standard. The mushroom burger had no condiments but did have lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. The bacon cheese burger had only catsup and no cheese. The fried chicken looked delicious, but we didn't receive it. We didn't receive everything in our order nor was it correct... but, that's my fault for not checking before we left. I'm kind of wondering if we didn't get someone else's order now that I'm thinking about it 🤔 We just went with this location because we were driving through the area and it was relatively close to the hotel we were staying.

I’ve eaten my way through white tablecloths and tasting menus more times than I can count. But when I need a break from the precious, plated, four-bite masterpieces, I come here—Zippy’s. No reservations. No dress code. Just the kind of food that fills your stomach and your soul. I crave the oxtail soup. The fried chicken is crispy, salty, perfect. I love it. I love it all. The chili, the spaghetti with garlic bread, and the chili loco moco, which is outrageously good. I’m talking about a full-on, pig-out session. The food’s always hot, always fast, and always hits the spot. Next time, I might ask for a side of loco moco gravy just to make it extra messy. 10/10.

Google
It’s Zippy’s, how can you go wrong. Hard to beat Hawaiian comfort food. We ate brunch here on a Sunday morning, this location has both a sit down restaurant and the fast food takeout side. The menu options are nearly endless, so everyone can find something to enjoy. Our server was outstanding, was gracious enough to take the time to walk us through many of his favorites.

Google
Best place to go for a quick dinner. Love the new way of picking up your food via locker when ordering online. Great service. Nice comfy place to dine in as well. Hubby always get an entree and an order of chili’s on the side. Great selection for dessert.

Nadeem H.

Google
Dennys of Hawaii. They had run out of many foods on the day. This resulted in limited choices for us.

Ronin

Google
I highly recommend you order online or through the Zippy's app. Walking to the takeout side to order and wait for your food is exceptionally long, especially at dinner. It's much easier to order through the app and, when it's ready, grab it from the locker. Thursday night, it seemed chill, with not too many people ordering or waiting for food. However, online orders were queued in between the person in front of me and my own. I counted eight other online or app orders before I finally got my food. It was very frustrating. As for the food, Zippy's is a local staple that has been around for generations. There are many classics on their menu, and I got two of them: a Zip Pac, but I replaced the teri beef with hoki. I also got an apple napple for dessert.

Ben P.

Google
Note that there is a sit-down restaurant side and a fast food/bakery side. We ate at the sit-down side. We really enjoyed the food. We had many other recommended dishes at restaurants that were supposed to be great but many of them were frankly worse than Zippy’s. The fried chicken and the chili cheese fries are great. The baked goods were a bit too sweet for us. The zip pac was good.

Angela M.

Google
Good neighborhood spot to get some Hawaiian classics on the fly. We tried the spam and eggs and the loco love. Both were delicious and got the spot! The interior of this location was a little dated and rundown but the food was good. The service was confusing because there was no clear spot where to order and they were taking orders from people behind us in line. We ate on the fast food side before realizing there was a seated dining area in the back. Service may be better on that side.

Yelp
We live Zippy's mainly because it's local Hawaiian local food. Coming from the mainland it's always a treat. The last time we were in town was 2021 but last weekend we were in town and visited two Zippy locations. Cheap eats are getting harder and harder to find. On our visit we did the saimen and fried chicken. Really enjoyed it. Zippy's will always be a go to location for our family. Aloha!

Yelp
Holy moly! A toothpick in my side salad! I ordered the chicken trio with tossed side salad and no macaroni salad. I opened the salad dressing and drizzled the yummy Asian salad dressing into the salad. I placed the cover back on the container and gave it a shake to distribute the dressing. Upon reopening the container, I looked at it and the dressing seemed well distributed. I sat down to eat the salad and used the fork provided by Zippy's. I placed the fork deep into the salad, took a good amount of salad, and placed the salad in my mouth. Biting down, something went crunch and it was hard. At first I thought. Why is my salad hard? I spit out the salad and observed one very long toothpick!!! The type Zippy's use to place in the clubhouse sandwiches! Yikes! Good thing I bit down on the toothpick horizontally and not vertically! I immediately called Zippy's Makiki and spoke with the Manager Ivan. I informed him of the seriousness of the situation. He understood and took the information down and said he will inform staff and kitchen. The toothpick is used as part of Zippy's kitchen to front process for identifying certain orders per the manager. I opine that no such toothpicks be used! This could've resulted in a horrific injury. How did the toothpick get in the salad? That is the question of the day. Needless to say my dinner was ruined big time. How the food is processed from kitchen to front needs to be addressed. Maybe a fluke? I hope this never happens to anyone else. Please note that the take out section of this Zippy's is being renovated. It's under construction so it's a bit dusty and smaller in size. Side note: The manager offered a replacement chicken trio dinner. Your thoughts?

Yelp
Great service and delicious food! The staff is always friendly and greets you as soon as you walk through the front door. The hostess noticed me walking in and immediately yelled "Aloha, welcome to Zippy's".. her friendly energy definitely set the setting for our initial experience. It didn't take long for us to be seated, and our waitress, Chingky, immediately came over to ask if we wanted anything to drink. I already had coffee with me and my husband didn't want anything so I said we're okay. Chingky is always really nice and super helpful when deciding on food and or dessert options. I asked if the ube long John was good and she said yes, and also suggested I try the ube cake. After the recommendation, we decided to order dinner and got the chili burrito plate, and asked for the ube long john to be packaged to go. The burrito plates didn't take long, and everything came out nice and hot. I ended up trying the ube long John later in the evening and it was absolutely delicious! I'm definitely going to try the ube cake next.

Yelp
We love Zippy's and always on the lookout for new locations. This place is easy to get to from Waikiki and offers plenty of parking. There is no long waits if you arrive after 8pm. The service is very friendly. The ambiance is standard diner experience and cleanliness. We liked how there is a kids menu and our children can get receive a free token for a special prize with their meal. My oxtail soup took a while to come out while others in my party already finished their meals. Food quality is on point though.

Yelp
Parking is plentiful. Noise level is kept to a minimum and there's an abundance of seating. Loco moco (4/5): sauce was good. The patty texture was great too. The egg was cooked nicely as well. Overall, portion size and food was solid. Tap to pay is accepted. Overall, Zippy's has some good comfort local food.

Yelp
This location at 1222 S King Street in Honolulu, is where most of my college days, well late nights (ahem) after studying or clubbing were spent. While residing on-island during my career after college, this is the spot that I would drive to and dine. Yup, not to any other Zippy's location. This is the one. And, I wouldn't order at the quick-service counter, or even at their Napoleon's Bakery. I would head into their dining room, to enjoy my meal in their restaurant. At Zippy's, in Makiki. ------------------------------ High ceilings, a spacious dining room. Where each booth is beautifully partitioned, separated without feeling alone and distant from others. Dark wooden beams above add warmth and comfort, transforming this simple dining space into an inviting and memorable experience. Windows on the outer perimeter contribute to the overall balance of natural and artificial light. The ambiance here I feel is like no other Zippy's, with a unique combination of character and charm. Where the aesthetics are enhanced in each detail chosen. ------------------------------ There were about 50+ guests having lunch at 11:56am, in the restaurant at Zippy's Makiki. I actually stood up from my seat and observed. I believe they were all local Honolulu residents, upper age mostly, past the age of sixty. A gentleman walked-in and a waitress pointed to the left, "your group is there today", she said. They know their regulars, I told myself, while witnessing those dining around me in their own respective booths. Having friendly conversations with their favorite servers. I felt the connection. Soft Hawaiian music plays in the background, while light chit-chat fills the dining room. I'm digging this dining atmosphere a lot, I told myself, as I began to look at my menu. Their famous Zippy's Original Chili? Of course, the only thing to order while on-island for a trip. For I feel it tastes better closer to its home of origin, than an air distance of approx 216 miles away to my home-island. ------------------------------ Zippy's Chili, you'll be surprised to find out that this item wasn't as popular back at the brand's origination date as it is now. Where nope, there's no mayonnaise or peanut butter in their chili. Because people have tried to figure out the taste, the consistency of this beloved item. The secret, Zippy's uses a certain type of kidney beans and the liquid from the beans are incorporated into the chili. Giving this menu item its signature creamy texture and unique, one-of-a-kind taste. I had to order an appetizer with Zippy's chili to start. Zippy's Chili & Cheese Fries. Chili + Korean Chicken Plate, that's my go-to. Their famous Zippy's Original Chili paired with their #2 best seller, which was introduced in 1999. Korean Chicken, boneless pieces of chicken, deep-fried and tossed in a garlicky, sweet + salty sauce. Served with two scoops of Calrose white rice and a scoop of Zippy's macaroni salad. A recipe designed to compliment their chili with its smooth, creamy base and savory notes. Complete Meal upgrade gets me a cup of their delicious Portuguese Bean Soup as a starter, served with a dinner roll. Also, a choice of beverage and dessert at the end of my meal. How could I resist and not order their light + fluffy Chantilly Cake topped with rich Chantilly cream and macadamia nuts for dessert? All from their Napoleon's Bakery, for their signature Napple Apple Turnover would be my second pick for dessert. ------------------------------ In 1966, brothers Charles and Francis Higa were to either open a car wash or a restaurant. Thank goodness they decided to open up their first restaurant operation on South King Street in Honolulu. Where Zippy's McCully and their corporate headquarters are now located. At that time, Zippy's was one of only three fast food operations in Honolulu. Fast forward to 2025, Zippy's now has 24 locations, with the majority on the island of O'ahu. There's a location on Maui in Kahului and on the Big Island of Hawai'i in Hilo. In 2023, they opened their first location outside of Hawai'i in Las Vegas. There's already plans for a third Zippy's to open in Fall 2025 in Vegas. ------------------------------ This is where it's beyond just satisfying hunger with Zippy's chili plus more. There's a social connection, where friends and families come to create lasting memories in a warm and inviting ambiance. Designed for dining while encouraging social engagement. I found it here, for many years while residing on O'ahu. And I never understood the reasons why until I began reflecting and drafting this review. Rarely do I have a rental car while on-island and, I'm so pleased that while I did, I was able to fit-in a dining visit to my favorite Zippy's location. Thanks to Agnes, Alina and the entire team. For taking care of my guest and I, lunch was delicious and enjoyable in a relaxed atmosphere. Here at 1222 S King Street in Honolulu. Zippy's Makiki.

Yelp
Wednesday July 23, 2025 we came here for dinner after a meeting in the Nuuanu area. Plenty parking. We ordered right away as it was still busy at 9pm!! Only 2 waitress working in the restaurant side. Food came out right away. Food was good. Ambiance is always casual and comfortable. Always support local businesses. We will be back again. As most food places closes early during the week.

Yelp
Had to order a chicken plate after watching Jason Mamoa eating at Zips with the guys from Jolly on You Tube. Of course the chicken was fresh and super crunchy, rice was fine and the mac was zip Mac. Ono. Only problem is, and it's big one to me, when you order on the phone, YOU CAN'T GET THE PLATE WITH GRAVY! Heeh?! Something like you gotta ask when you get there and can get it on the side. Bizarre! Can you imagine going to Rainbows and picking up a handful of plates with no GAO? And then having to ask for little containers of gravy for each one? That would be insane. That's all I got on this subject. Was so sad when I ate my dry rice last night.

Yelp
Just got back from the mainland, which was great but mostly Mexican food and needed and missed the island Saimin! Palace Saimin was closed and Shige's Saimin also closed the only place open was Tanaka Saimin or Zippy's! The won ton min was very good and the broth was delicious and it came out hot and the waitress was very good and friendly! Lots of parking also FYI they add back kitchen service charge to your bill

Yelp
The food was yummy. Zippy's is always a good place to go when you're in a rush and need something quick. My go to is the Zip Pac and fried chicken plate. I also like the sweet and sour spareribs when they have it on their daily specials. Today, we got the sweet and sour spareribs and the roast turkey plate. They were both around $16. Both items had great flavor. I especially liked the stuffing on the roast turkey plate with the cranberry. I also love the lilikoi drink. It hits the spot everytime. Their menu is extensive. There's something for everyone. When you're looking for something quick and easy, this is the place to be.

Yelp
Since I didn't eat anything at happy hour, I was hungry. I was driving around looking for some place to eat and then I saw Zippy's. Haven't been to one on this trip yet so why not! Ordered the spaghetti with garlic bread, a side of mac salad, and a fruit punch (my mom always ordered this for me as kid). This all hit the spot! It was soooo good! I really needed this! The service was a little slow, but lots of late diners. Great place to come to for late night eats! Mahalo Zippy's!
google avatar

Chanel M.

Yelp
Note to self, if I can help it... do not order from this location or if I do leave ample time to possibly wait a while. There are literally 20 people standing around with tons of orders sitting on the shelf behind the counter getting cold. Those waiting have the same frustrated facial expressions as me asking one another "How long have you been waiting?". I understand being busy but they simply looked disorganized. I've seen some of the same plates sitting behind the counter waiting to be covered and handed out to patrons for the entire 40+ mins I was standing there. I love Zippys but in my opinion this one could use a more efficient prrocess..
google avatar

Glenn F.

Yelp
Chili! I remember in high school. The first time I ate the Chili and rice bowl from Zippy's Mc Cully. It was so onolious! That is my go to! Oh and one piece fried chicken! Who remembers the pita breakfast sandwich!?! The service at Makiki Zippy's is awesome! The place is so clean. And the Bakery display case is worth taking a look at! Got Ube!
google avatar

Yelp
Our go to place for take out whenever wants chili's. Take out is very convenient. You can order your food thru the app and will get a text once your food is ready. Once you arrived you can pick up your food at the locker where your food is placed. There is also a nice dining area on the other side of the pick up area.
google avatar

Yelp
My usual spot for a quick meal. 2-9-4-4 current combination to the bathroom. Impeccable service. The counter lady no need the microphone to call out orders ready for pickup. This older Filipina woman got a super strong loud voice and probably sings good karaoke. And she seems very happy at her job. Even though she was wearing a beautiful Rolex watch, she's probably a multimillionaire and no doubt her family is probably doing good since she doesn't have to stay home and take care of the kids. She can come to work for Zippy's and take care of us customers instead!!! Thank you, Nanai, for your fine example, your sweet smile, your bubbly enthusiasm, your kindness and your determined dedication to your customers and work.

Yelp
Recently visited the Zippy's location in Makiki this past Sunday on 9/7/25. Would like to commend my restaurant server Chingky C for her efficient service while I dined there. She never took notes regarding my dine-in order and takeout orders. When I got my food, everything was on point. My meal was perfect. She even recommended me using my Zipcoins account for a price discount when I paid my bill in the end. Very attentive, respectful, and personable. Made my complete dine-in experience worthwhile.

Yelp
This Zippy's location has been around for YEARS, and it's right down the street from my house, which makes it a solid food option after a long day at work. Although inflation (and shrink-flation) has made some of their prices a bit ridiculous, you cannot argue that their service remains top-notch (for both the Drive-In and Eat-in sides of the restaurant.) And their all-too-casual ambience hasn't changed one bit since opening day! Whenever I have an extra bit of money, I do try to stop in and pick up my go-to favorite: A Regular Hamburger Steak (no onions) with an extra scoop of Macaroni salad, paired with a large Orange Bang! I recommend this Zippy's location to anyone passing through the Makiki area! Enjoy!

Dee O.

Yelp
Really think your food and the variety is great! However its gotten really Salty! MSG added? Not sure what but having more and more difficulty AFTER eating here. So I had to stop or eat just a tiny bite or two and that's it! Which is sad as I have always bought tons of gift cards for friends in the past, coz who doesn't eat at ZIPPYS?? Even loved your turkey plate on those years I didnt want to fuss over a labor intensive meal. Food was yummy and so easy to pick up & go. Hope you find a way to offer NO MSG, low sodium meals because your food is great. Thinking alot of seniors eat here and they shouldn't be eating all that salt either Food tastes best when you taste the ingredients ( can taste the chicken, fish, beef, veggies...) Not just the salt or gravy Thank you& Mahalo!

Yelp
It has been quite awhile since we last ate at a Zippy's. We decided at the last minute to drive over for dinner. This location had both a counter and sit down service. We opted for the counter but the service was a bit slow given only one person at the cashier and one person prepping the trays as the food came out of the kitchen. The other person filling the to go orders seemed only focused on putting them in the cabinet cubbies. When our order was finally ready we slid into one of the available tables. The wun tun saimin was not bad just ok for the portion. The chicken long rice mini was bland. The chili spaghetti was filling and it was probably the best from our order. The chili moco was so so given the beef patty was dry and seemingly overcooked. The egg on the other hand was cooked correctly. Unfortunately it seemed like the food quality and taste had dropped so we will be less likely to come back.
google avatar

Brittany I.

Yelp
Food was fresh and hot! Service was a little subpar, kept having to go back because basic items were forgotten but no big deal. I could see the staff was hustling because the wait was a little long but it looked like the manager was just sitting and watching them work (I assume that was the manager but not sure).

Yelp
Hawaii's version of Dennys. Food was good. The pancakes were huge! Service was good. I will return when I come back to Hawaii.

Yelp
Love this zippy's. Clean, bigger dining area and waitress was superb. Korean Chicken chili combo - 5 stars - although prices are going up everywhere, I love their crispy and sweet korean chicken. Goes great with their famous chili. Service - our waitress was excellent. Lots of parking, and enter though the backside from the main road.

Yelp
OK thats it. I'm done. After eating zippys once a week for about 40 years, even signing up for the Zip rewards , Zippys is off the list. Got in about 7:30 to the dining area. went to wait at the please wait for hostess as normal. After 18 minutes ( I checked) the waitress tells me I need to use the qr code. THERES NO OTHER PARTIES IN THE BATHROOM/HALLWAY AND 4 NOSHOW NAMES on the board. I said I been waiting here, and can even sit at the counter. The waitress refuses to seat me without using the QR code. You want me to walk back to my car to get my phone? I came to eat not answer my emai So, forget it. GOODBYE Zippys, its been a great forty, but never again. If my personal information is more important than my food and my tip, have fun. Since you guys aren't open open 24 hours anymore theres no reason to eat there. P.S. your sign by the bathroom says " wait for hostess to be seated not use the QR code. Better throw it away tomorrow since its no longer valid.

Yelp
My favorite place to dine. Their water glasses are stained with detergent from dishwasher. The lips of the glasses are stained with residue. Very unsanitary. Someone should report this to the hea

Yelp
Pleasantly relaxing for a Friday night. Hawaiian music in the background. Not too many people so it wasn't loud. Service was wonderful from the time we walked in. It was only a 10 min wait. Mini spaghetti hit the spot for some comfort food. Fried chicken was crispy. My friend enjoyed her teri beef plate.
google avatar

Lisa W.

Yelp
We went there for dinner. There was a wait but they were pleasant about telling us the wait time and allowing us to sit in the waiting area. My mom had the won ton min and I had the Zip PAC no fish, extra fried chicken. Chile cheese fries. It was all very delish. Everything was hot! Chicken was hot and crispy with the usual Zippy's deliciousness! Our server was super pleasant and helpful! My mom ordered the large won ton min. He was smart to tell us the portion is good size. He was so right. She was so happy because the regular portion was perfect! All the holiday decorations were down. We sat by a window so that was nice. We will be back

Yelp
I miss the late-night and early-morning hours Zippy's used to keep--Makiki was one of those spots you could always count on, whether it was after a long night or an early start. Like many places, their hours have scaled back since COVID, and I definitely feel the loss of that 24/7 comfort food standby. That said, the food still hits. I always go for the oxtail soup--tender, flavorful, and packed with peanuts and herbs. It's one of those dishes that feels like home. The broth is rich and the meat falls off the bone. Even with shorter hours, Zippy's Makiki still holds a special place--classic local food and comfort when you need it.

Yelp
Our first time trying Zippy's. You see it all over Tiktok so we had to add this to our food lineup when we came to Hawaii. We came on a Tuesday afternoon. We came for brunch. They have their own parking lot so that was nice. Lots of diners already seated. We didn't wait at all and were seated in a booth right away. I had looked over the menu before coming and knew I wanted the oxtail soup if it was being served when we visited and IT WAS!!!! Broth was piping hot and so rich in flavor. My large bowl was packed with at least 5 medium to large pieces of oxtail and a ton of bright green choi sum and cilantro. It came with rice but you almost don't need it. Shared with my son whom I knew would want to even though he ordered his own meal. Portion is definitely enough for two. Also came with a side of ginger you could add to your liking. My eldest son ordered eggs, hashbrown and toast. My youngest son ordered the veggie omelet with hashbrown and toast. We were all very happy and full when we left. We will be back to visit!

Yelp
Sara introduce me to cheat day, one in which I could order whatever I wanted after being on a diet! Her friendliness and welcoming nature really me feel comfortable in ordering whatever I needed to order to get my hunger pains to stop! I ordered a grilled burger with lots of lettuce and gravy on the side as my cheat day meal! I skipped the great banana pudding pie, however

Yelp
Decent spot for local food, everything from katsu to saimin to varieties of fried chicken are available (we went for dinner). Staff is pleasant and patient. There is a seating area but limited. Great to check out while in Honolulu - short walk from Ala Moana area.

Yelp
For me, it's a must when we're on Oahu. This time around, tables for a party of 12 didn't take long at all. I'd say maybe 15 minutes. Menu and food came out pretty quickly. I ordered the KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) breakfast meal with corned beef and a medium fried egg. It hit the spot. The sauce for the KFC wasn't too sweet, it was perfectly crunchy paired with the fried egg and corned beef mixed with the rice. Auntie who was serving us was very friendly also.

Yelp
5/5 stars simply for Ms. Joy!!! I am so thankful to have arrived on a day where she was working. With all the staff on had during my visit, she was the only employee who was happy, kind, and so very personable!! Her smile literally lit up the crabby vibes that this place was exuding. Lmao!! Now!! In regards to Zippy's itself... We all know that there are no shortages of eateries in Hawaii, but I made it an absolute must to get me a taste of Zippy's. My decision came with plenty of pushback and a lot of people repeatedly describing the establishment as "mediocre fast food" but my mind was made. First things first, there seems to be 2 sides of Zippy's. One end offers ordering in a fast food style and another where you're seated and provided menus at the table. Our party didn't realize that until a lot later but we were totally content with ordering via fast food method. Purchases: *Regular Fried Chicken Plate [3pc chicken, rice, & mac salad] *Large Chili Bowl *Side of Fries *Ube Donut [new item!!] *Banana Cream Pie [single slice] Forreal Forreal! This is some of the best fried chicken I've had- and that says a lot because I'm not normally big on fried chicken! Each piece was cooked perfectly- crispy outter skin, moist/juicy interior, and the seasonings = chef's kiss!! Very tasty and the best comparison I could think of is Popeye's [but a step above even that]. The bowl of chili was hearty and flavorful. Fries were okay- this was the most basic item purchased. Ube donut was beautifully vibrant, fluffy, and the sweetness wasn't overwhelming. Banana cream pie was good but I've had better. 5/5 stars. You can't go wrong with cheap, delicious, and quick meals. Visiting Zippy's and grabbing some fried chicken is officially a staple whenever I travel to the islands!! It's really that good. Zippy's does not play when it comes to seasonings- food did not need any condiments but they are available if you prefer.

Yelp
The first stop is ALWAYS Zippys... and then gotta stop like 3 more times just to get the fix in. The chili chicken plate is a classic go to but I also LOVE the spaghetti... I'm a little bit sad that the spaghetti doesn't come with corn anymore though... Also can't count which stop, but for one of them, we also got a haupia cake and it's so light and delicious, you almost forget you were full from the other stuff in the first place. YUM

Yelp
What the heck Zippy's Makiki ! Large portuguese bean soup that looks like a smail $6.75, 3/4 full and two thin slices of whatever, not sausage, plus used to get a piece of ham hock now no more. Very disappointing

Yelp
This is the best mixed plate. I love Zippy's fried chicken but this Korean fried chicken is addictive. Maybe it's the sauce but the little bit of tang elevates the fried chicken crave. It's not just about the crispy crunch but it's about the overall flavor. Pair that with Zippy's chili and it's comfort on a plate. I need to sign up so I can get points like my friend. It may be the beginning of new relationship!

Yelp
Korean Fried Chicken, always at its best! Currently Specials Fire Cracker Karaage Chicken 10/10 & Chantilly Long Jon 10/10 ; Service was great! Renovated of course so inside was nice and clean. Our go to lunch & always great to dine in. On busy days, highly recommend joining the waitlist ahead of time.

Yelp
After getting our rental at HNL we headed to Zippy's for a late lunch/ early dinner. We asked some local guys on our flight and they recommended the chicken and chilli plate, so we ordered that some Korean fried chicken and a saimin. The service was super friendly and helpful in explaining what was in the various combos. Our kids favorite food from our whole trip was Zippy's Mac salad. The chicken was juicy, crisp and well seasoned. Who knew chicken and chilli worked so well together. The saimin was tasty and we took down the Korean fried chicken in no time. We visited this location multiple times during our trip and loved everything we got. I just saw they have shirts on their website so I'm planning on buying a few as great souvenirs.

Yelp
Ikaika took our order at the counter . He provided service with an attitude then had the nerve to expect a tip ‍ Love Zippys but will not be getting counter service at this location again. Service is extremely slow...waited 45 minutes for bacon, Portuguese sausage and eggs . Food is always delicious though. If you eat in there's a decent amount of space.

Yelp
I adore Zippy's. Friendly service...quality "local cuisine" that always hits the mark....and affordable prices. There's a separate counter for to go meals but we love to dine in. The booths are big and it's a great option for a family or group as the booths expand. It's not fancy...this is your hometown diner that could only be found in Hawaii (and now Las Vegas, too). Favorites include Zippy's Saimin, Teri-burger, Chili omelette, Breakfast Bento and more. We typically pick up a treat from Napoleon's their in-house bakery. Super yum!

Yelp
I came for the chili when it's chilly... Well the benefit chili that I purchase a month ago from a co-worker to help her with son's class knowing it would be the holidays and the perfect option for an easy pick-up when it's definitely needed and it's time. The other option for redemption are Portuguese Bean Soup, Breakfast plate with drink or five pieces of cornbread but we obviously wanted the chili though it had to be beanless and since it's been awhile I got a fried chicken plate to share. The Makiki location is convenient as there are entrance from either South Beretania and Young Street though if you want entrance for the take out counter it is recommended to enter on South Beretania as that parking for that front portion is one way only if you enter from Young Street you need to walk to the side of the building for access. Always a busy place there was a new counter person taking the order and she's doing great as a trainee though she was talking quite soft and didn't repeat my order there was a bit of an error of regular versus beanless chili which was easily fixed other than that everything went smoothly you just need to be aware and double check prior to as any human error is possible as there is a bunch of staff shortage and I completely understand and just made sure before I leave. The vibe here is quite chill with a decent amount of seating though the parking can get filled up fast. Thank you!

Yelp
Came here on Saturday and once again we had great service from Leah. Came around 5pm for dinner with a party of 10. We were able to be seated quickly and our food came out in a timely manner. The service was a bit slow but I could tell it was because there were only 2 maybe 3 servers on the floor at the time and it was starting to pick up. I'm giving 4 stars because my husbands beef stew wasn't really hot or warm, but he was too hungry to complain or send it back. Our won ton mein and Korean chicken came out super hot and super delicious. This is definitely going to be our go to Zippy's whenever we are in town.

Yelp
I don't know how, I don't know why, but in the past three months, I've found myself at this Zippy's more times than normal. Let me just say, they know what they're doing. Listen, we all know why we stop at Zippy's; it's probably a last minute dinner or cheap get-together, or the only place open. So when you're in the mood for food, you really don't notice anything else. But for the workers in here to deliver service with Aloha and the cooks deliver good food consistently is a relief and a blessing and really makes this Zippy's stand out from the rest. My only negative experience is that I never order the WunTunMin anymore because sometimes I feel like the temperature just isn't it, and I don't mess with food that nots kept to temp. If you're in town and you want somewhere reliable, with good service, and food that hits, this is the Zippy's to go to.

Yelp
Another great dine-in breakfast service by all the "og aunties" and tasty food keeps my grandson and family a loyal customer to this location. Special shootout to the morning crew Agnes, Jocelyn, Gina, Lourdes, Kaipo, Leah, Mikaela and cook Micha for always providing exceptional service and food! Their friendly smiles and cheerful attitudes, respectful and personal interactions, and product knowledge makes them #1 in mho! Mahalo!

Yelp
Always a good meal at Zippy's. Got their special mixed plate - katsu, Teri beef and chili. All was good. Mac ain't bad. I usually get the complete meal so you can get a slice of pie or cake too Always a good meal at Zippy's. Got their special mixed plate - katsu, Teri beef and chili. All was good. Mac ain't bad. Yelp
Good service and good food :) Love this location because the aunties take care of us - take care of the elderly kapuna with walkers and wheelchairs. Plenny parking, fast service and onolicious food. Definitely will come to this Zippys location again!

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised given this is a fast food chain! The chicken katsu was crispy while the chicken inside was nice and juicy. The katsu sauce they gave us with it was also yummy. The Korean fried chicken was not the crispiest but it was solid. Definitely hits the spot! Chili and Mac salad were good! I would looove something like this back home in Cali! We don't have many fast food chains that serve rice.

Yelp
Had a really great experience here, good food and super friendly staff. My mom and I came to Honolulu together and tried Zippys randomly and fell in love with the delicious convenient food. We tried two Zippys locations during our visit and this was our favorite. The young man who was our waiter was so nice and helpful I wish I could recall his name. We ordered the Zip Pac and Saimin. Both were delicious as well as we got mac salad to go which was also delicious. I would definitely come here again if I ever get the opportunity to come back to Honolulu! Thank you!

Yelp
We always try to stop by Zippy's before we leave Oahu. I dont know why, but it just became a tradition. The loco moco was pretty decent. Chicken katsu was good as well. Server was very nice and attentive.

Yelp
My name is Arlene and missing my Korean fried chicken plate. My total order was: won ton min, Mac and cheese, chocolate donut, long John and flakey donuts but no Korean fried chicken plate. How do I get my refund. I'm already home without dinner. Phone number 808 6233883.
