The Best Sushi Restaurants In Boston - Boston - The Infatuation

"Yes, Zuma, is at the Four Seasons, but unlike a lot of other upscale spots on this list, here you have the option to order a la carte or do a full omakase. Save the tasting menu for other spots, though—a la carte is the way to go. You really want to be here on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night when there’s a DJ and order a bunch of plates to share like sliced sashimi with yuzu and yellowtail with green chili relish and pickled garlic. The cocktails, like the chili passionfruit margarita, are also delicious, and better than what you can find at other sushi spots in town." - tanya edwards

Where To Have A Business Lunch

"Zuma in the Back Bay is the type of high-end place where a lot of people are probably discussing frequent flyer programs. In other words, it’s a good place to go when you need to impress someone. It isn’t cheap, but if you’re charging the meal to the company, come here for good sushi and an even better selection of robata grill stuff, like the Chilean seabass with green chili and ginger dressing." - dan secatore

Court Orders Zuma to Change Name Due to Confusion With Existing Zuma - Eater Boston

"Zuma is an upscale Japanese restaurant, part of an international chain, located in the Four Seasons Hotel. The restaurant offers high-end dishes such as $69 roasted lobster. The London-based parent company, Azumi Limited, opened the Boston location in May 2019 despite a licensing agreement." - Terrence Doyle

The food was mid and very pricey for very little amounts. I can recommend a lot of different restaurants that’s in boston that’s way better than this😭 we waited around 60 mins for our sushi(2 maki rolls) and almost 40 mins for our dessert… If you had to pick something to eat, the only thing i can recommend is the baked cheesecake but it is $30… Never again(from everyone who ate with me today). it was 125+ per person with food that would just fill your stomach.

Everything was absolutely impeccable! What an experience. They have four different kitchens. The best sushi ever great steaks. Fresh wasabi flown in. Truffle flown in! It was my husband’s birthday the dessert platter was the most intricate this with a lot of different sweets. High-end expect to spend some money

Google
Zuma, Boston is a 5 star restaurant through and through! The atmosphere is great with an upbeat vibe and beautiful decor. The food is excellent from the quality, presentation as well as the creativity of flavors and dishes. Every dish was terrific. We had the Tuna /Salmon tartare combo with Lotus chips, beef yakitori, an array of sushi, yellowtail with ponzu appetizer and the Kobe beef dumplings. Do not miss this restaurant whether just two people or a group. This place will leave you ready to plan the next visit!

Dined here for the first time after hearing so many locals experiencing Zuma. The food was delicious and creatively displayed along with the plates that were chosen. Our top plates were the blacked signature dish cod, the pork belly skewers, and the lava cake. Our waitress was a doll, she made us feel welcomed. Highly recommend, and make reservations !

Google
Loveeeeee the Zuma brand and happy to report that Zuma Boston also lives up to the reputation. Courteous and warm service from everyone. Water always filled with the glass never completely emptied. Orders came right according to personal preferences. Vibe was great for lunch and can imagine the place being livelier for dinner. The ebisu selections are varied and generous even with the supplements on certain picks. I might just have found a new Boston place to frequent 😉

Google
I dined at zuma last week with my family and the experience was awful. Service was extremely slow, forgot to bring us our drinks that we had to order multiple times, took too long to take our orders in between courses, and never checked on the table after receiving our meals to ensure everything was okay. Food was mediocre, the miso black cod at nobu is much better for a lower price, the prawn was overwhelmingly citrusy, and the steak was lacking. The dessert course was the highlight of our experience, both presentation and flavor wise but it did not make up for the other courses. Our table did the $150 per person lunch offering and at that price point you should expect for the food and service to both be spectacular, but we all left disappointed. We will not be returning and I suggest others choose to dine elsewhere.

Moved out of Boston 2 years ago and have been excited to eat at Zuma during my short trip back. The service, food, and ambiance have remained consistent. Our server, Hang, was really nice, but Brian (Bryan), the manager, was working HARD. Exceptional service all around

We got omakase dinner and I can’t say I liked everything and I feel they could have done better, but I loved the atmosphere here and the service was superb. I would come back to try other dishes than omakase.

Yelp
We celebrated our anniversary here and had a memorable experience. The sushi was excellent, the atmosphere felt upscale, and the presentation of each dish was truly impressive. Every plate felt like a special moment in itself. It's definitely a great spot for a celebration. We focused mostly on sushi rolls and really enjoyed what we ordered, though I do wish there had been more variety on the menu. Bonus, they brought out a special anniversary dessert. What a special surprise!

Yelp
Came here for lunch on a weekday and the space wasn't too full - a few other occupied tables, but overall felt pretty empty which wasn't a bad thing. Interior felt pretty modern and upscale which matched the vibes too. We were seated pretty quickly and placed our orders within a reasonable amount of time. The menu was solid with several good options - we settled on getting the ebisu business lunch to share amongst three people so we ordered it multiple times. It seemed like a great deal and it was - we left feeling stuffed! They did end up forgetting one of our dishes and we waited for it for quite a long time, leading to a 2.5 hour long meal. It was frustrating given tables around us were seated, ate, and left long before us despite getting similar amounts of food. We were seated around 12:30, left almost at 3 - way too long! It was unfortunate honestly as the rest of the meal was nice. Overall, our experience was okay - I'd like to believe the length was an anomaly. I wouldn't mind coming back, especially for their brunch, but probably wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Yelp
The food was good, but the service did not meet the standards one would expect from a restaurant inside the Four Seasons. To start, we were initially seated all the way in the back. We asked to be moved to a different table, and while we understood the host needed to check the system, the process was inefficient--we walked across the entire restaurant only to be sent back again once a new table was confirmed. It would've been more considerate to let us wait at the original table while she finalized the change. As first-time guests, we came in with no knowledge of the menu, the concept, or whether there was a recommended way to order. Unfortunately, the server offered no guidance. He didn't ask if it was our first visit, didn't explain the menu, and didn't provide any recommendations. Service felt rushed and impersonal. Our appetizers arrived before our drinks, and the entrees and sides were brought out at different times. For example, we received the potato side dish well before the main meal, so we ate it separately. While still mid-meal, we were asked if we wanted dessert, which felt premature and made us feel hurried. We also overheard our server describing an off-menu dessert to another table, but when we asked about dessert options, he simply handed us the menu without mentioning anything additional. The difference in service was noticeable and disappointing--it felt like he was more focused on getting us out than providing a good experience. While the ambiance was nice overall, there was a couple across the restaurant engaged in overly intimate behavior, which made the setting uncomfortable for those of us dining with family. It's not something you'd expect or want to witness in a place of this caliber.

Yelp
Haven't written review for a while but I recently went to Zuma for my own birthday dinner and I loved it!! Me and my friends had an incredible experience here. This restaurant is located in back bay around Prudential are so finding street parking was very hard. It is best to opt for garage parking as there are many options available. The restaurant itself is located inside the Four Seasons Hotel. As soon as you arrive you are greeted at the door by friendly staff who open the door for you and lead you up the stairs to where the restaurant is located. We were immediately seated by our hostess. I want to note that is very important to make a reservation for this restaurant as they are always very booked and the restaurant itself was very packed. The atmosphere and ambiance were great. There is live music next to bar section of the restaurant and multiple people were having fun and dancing. Unfortunately, me and my friends did not go there for drinks but for the food which is what this review is all about. Their menu I would say is very extensive and it has a ton of great food options. For started we decided to opt for their sushi maki, gyoza and chicken skewers. The sushi was so fresh and delicious. The flavors were melting on my tongue (seriously!). The chicken skewer was very flavorful as well as the fried gyoza. The star dish of the night was definitely their salmon. It was absolutely incredible, the sauce paring was on point. They cooked it perfectly as I requested it to be medium well. Overall my birthday dinner at Zuma was amazing. The service was great as the waiter was very patience and very attentive to every person in the group. I would love to be back here.

Yelp
I came here for a friend's birthday dinner with a large group, and the service was excellent--very attentive and friendly staff. The overall vibe was lively and fun, and it's definitely a great spot for photos. As for the food, it was decent but didn't quite match the price point. I ordered the tomahawk steak, which was fine, but I've had better elsewhere (Grill 23 & Bar in Boston comes to mind). That said, we did enjoy one of the sushi rolls, and the cocktails were great. I'd say this place is more suited for grabbing drinks and catching up with friends rather than a full sit-down dinner. I probably wouldn't return for a meal, just because there are so many stronger dining options in Boston--but if you're looking for a fun atmosphere and a solid drink menu, it's worth a visit.

Yelp
What a five star experience.... Best werk dinner so far methinks, everything was SO GOOD. The sea bass app was my fav... and maybe the warm portobello bowl. Impeccable lychee martini and beautiful dessert spread. Also possibly the most beautiful restaurant i've ever been in? Was making me feel like i had a trust fund

Yelp
Once in a while, you visit a restaurant that really stands out as something special. Zuma is one of those places, on the second floor of the Four Seasons building on Dalton Street. Zuma is a very upscale Japanese restaurant with three kitchens and an izakaya concept, where customers can order many small plates and share everything. There are hearty entrees available, but if you want sides those are a separate order, like the nice broccolini we got. The good sized interior is like being in another country or somewhere in New York, modern and sleek but overall earthy with much of the space being made of and decorated with wood. They could have included a bowl of rice at least, but the food tasted amazing. 10 oz prime skirt steak with shish chimichurri sauce, which I haven't had before was a wonderful addition with the fantastic, tender steak slices. I also had an equally great beef skewer with shishito pepper and smoked chili soy. We also shared a wonderful lava cake with ice cream and then a great decaf cappuccino with extra foam milk. The service was great and our waitress was very knowledgeable about the place as we asked questions. All in all my experience at Zuma was a very special one and one of the best meals I've had in a long time!

Yelp
My most recent visit at Zuma Boston was for a birthday dinner, in which we booked a private event in the back! The staff prepped everything to perfection and were constantly bringing out more food. Some of the food that we had, include: -yakitori -wagyu tartare -grilled scallops -salmon & tuna tartare These dishes were served as hors d'oeuvres and were all very tasty. For maki rolls, we ordered 3 rounds of all the makis offered on their menu. The sake no aburi roll was my favorite! The maki rolls at Zuma are on the simpler side and are more basic rolls, but nevertheless, still very fresh. We also had mixed drinks that were constantly coming out, in which the raspberry & passionfruit martini was my favorite! Definitely one of my favorite drinks from Zuma ever. Overall, the birthday event went smoothly and the staff was very accommodating! Whenever we were in need of anything like more drinks or more food, everything was prepared and served within minutes. Highly recommend booking here for your next group event or even just to come here for their brunch and dinner! Make sure to make reservations ahead of time as they do get booked up ;) Parking: valet is available or can find street parking nearby.

Yelp
Had a fantastic time celebrating my graduation & partner's job promotion at Zuma. I booked a reservation a few days in advance. We stopped at Trifecta below for a few drinks before we headed to Zuma. By the time we got to Zuma, it was completely packed. There was a DJ playing, countless tables of large parties & a busy bar. I told the waitress I was allergic to crustacean and she told me nothing on the premium omakase menu contained crustacean. We opted for the premium omakase and it was such a good choice. We started with the sliced seabass sashimi, which was a nice palate cleanser. It was topped well with the salmon roe which helped give it a salty and nutty flavor. The wagyu gyoza came next and my partner said it was one of the best things on the menu! We then had the salmon and tuna tartare topped with caviar, which is a staple at any fine dining restaurant. The fish was very fresh! The chu toro tartare topped with truffle wasn't as delectable. Our favorite small bite might've been the seared scallops! We had been watching too many cooking shows and was really craving scallops and Zumq didn't disappoint! We would go back just for them. The rolls and nigiri came out next and they were all tasty! The entrees came out and we were pretty full by then. The ribeye, adorned with truffle, was a great "turf", while the miso cod provided a delicious "surf". We were too full to eat the mushroom risotto, but had a few bites. Overall, we had a great time at Zuma. We were there until closing, so around a total of 3 hours. Our waitress was super attentive and everything was up to our expectations, as it was a bit pricey. But well worth it! We would definitely come back.

Yelp
A great celebration spot! We went to celebrate my mom's birthday before heading to a concert. They were incredibly accommodating to our time needs, and the food was brought out quickly but never with making us feel rushed. The food was incredible: especially loved the beef tartar, hamachi, potstickers and crispy tofu. Wish we'd had more rolls, so we will need to come back! The cocktails we had were delicious, too. It is pricey, but you get what you pay for with the ambience, service and quality food.

Yelp
The food is delicious, ambiance is very nice and elegant, staff is super friendly. Do not order the king crab is too expensive. $90 dlls for just one leg.

Yelp
Came here for my anniversary dinner and was not disappointed! It's located inside the Four Seasons Hotel, so the decor and architecture was very sophisticated. Our server was soooo good at her job, I think her name was Hang. She got us started with the lychee+rose and raspberry+passionfruit martinis - both delicious. For dinner we ordered several dishes a la carte, but the standouts were definitely the off-menu special toro roll our server recommended as well as the black cod and torched salmon belly. Highly recommend! We were basically levitating after every bite. We got the dessert platter as well, which was delicious of course. They also asked if we were celebrating anything special and surprised us with a nice "happy anniversary" message on the dessert, such a lovely touch to end our night.

Yelp
Zuma is a Japanese restaurant with a number of restaurants locations in the US and a few around the world. I had made a Friday evening reservation for four to celebrate a group of friend's recent promotions and achievements. It was easy to make a reservation online. I have to warn you, there is a hefty penalty for not showing up, be sure to cancel or reschedule by the deadline or face a premium fee. My group of four arrived right at opening for our early dinner reservation. We were seated promptly by the hostess. We opted for the premium omakase experience since we couldn't decide what to order. With omakase, we leave it to the chef, as this is a set chef decided menu. Zuma's premium omakase came with a lot of savory dishes that can easily fill you up quickly. Examples would be the two types of dumplings, which were served early on. Later in the meal, there is also steak, a truffle risotto, and corn on a cob. I feel like those four alone could have been my dinner but there were maybe 10 more dishes. Some of the girls in the group were pretty full around the 8th item but the dishes kept coming out one after the other. I enjoyed every dish. Again, I feel like this omakase experience had a lot of buttery and filling items. I would have liked for a lighter menu. I definitely did not leave hungry. In fact, I could barely finish the dessert, which was the highlight of the meal. It was so beautifully presented. There were many exotic fruits such as passion fruit and dragon fruit. Now that I have tried their omakase, the next time I visit, I can check out the rest of their menu. Service was excellent that bight, we never once felt rushed and our waiter checked in frequently. See my pictures.

Yelp
I've dined at this location multiple times, and it's always been a great experience. The variety of offerings, service and atmosphere is what especially makes it stand out. I highly recommend checking Zuma out, especially for a celebratory occasion!

Yelp
Best contemporary Japanese food in the Back Bay Area-- Zuma offers an immensely enjoyable fine dining experience. Prepare to spend about 2-3 hours here for an incredible 4 course meal, worth 5 stars. For a fixed price you get unlimited appetizers, sushi (nigiri & maki), one entree per person, and one dessert platter for the table. Ambiance: We came for brunch on a Saturday and were seated right by the window on a very comfortable sofa seat. Service: the staff is incredibly kind! Shoutout to our server Claire, who wanted to give us the full experience for our first time, and went above and beyond in her insights and assistance. We originally ordered 3 appetizers, but she spoiled us and brought us one of each to try. Food (Appetizers, 1): The appetizer selection consisted of edamame, spicy fried chicken, vegetable tempura, breaded sweet potato, dressed corn, and sweet peppers with lime. My favorites were the spicy fried chicken which came with a chili sauce and a lemon slice (my favorite!) and the veggie tempura. The vegetables were lightly battered and fried which I enjoyed, and the chicken was cooked very well. Food (Sushi, 2): The sushi was extremely fresh and absolutely delicious. I'm not a huge fan of raw fish, but I was more than eager to try the offerings. There were 4 rolls to select from-- we ordered the spicy tuna, kappa (ginger-cucumber-avo) vegetarian, and salmon-avo roll. Absolutely incredible! The spicy tuna was my favorite-- super flavorful and I really enjoyed it as tempura. The kappa and salmon-avo were delicious as well. The rice on the sushi was of high quality, and stuck without being technical sticky rice. Food (Entree, 3): BEST PART. BEST STEAK EVER. WOW. My mom and I both opted for the 4oz spicy beef tenderloin and my mom's boyfriend got the salmon. The beef tenderloin came with red pepper flakes, sesame seeds, and a soy-chili sauce. Cooked medium well was the way to go. It was so juicy. Had we not had been so full from the other courses, I would have finished my mom's off as well. 20/10 rating in my book. My mom's boyfriend reported that his salmon was incredible, and the crust was fantastic. Food (Dessert, 4): We started off with complimentary shots-- we got the virgin berry shot and espresso martini shots, both very good! The berry one reminded me of a fancy strawberry popsicle. Then came the dessert platter, which was INSANE. It came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and sherbet, mixed fruits, a coconut-tapioca pudding, chef's daily pastry selection (chocolate chip cookies!), and mochi ice cream. Everything was so fresh and delicious. The sherbet was rich and tart, my favorite. The cookies were freshly baked and the mochi ice cream was so soft and creamy, definitely the best I've had. Overall, the dining experience at Zuma was absolutely incredible, and one we will never forget. Thank you, Zuma!

Yelp
Very cool spot! Ordered - wagyu steak (medium well but came out more medium) 9/10, - Wagyu gyoza which would have been much better had we not ordered, sauce is great - citrus summer veggie tempura: very nice and refreshing, still substantial because of the light fry. Squash blossom was a treat - yellowtail: 10/10 might've been my favorite of the evening other than the steak! - guava sorbet with cheesecake for dessert. This is absolutely meant for two people and were great fun they noted that on the menu. Very nice but the guava sorbet was too sweet for my liking and the brûlée cheesecake was decadent decadent decadent. Together they went nicely but I would try something else next time Service was very good as the four seasons usually are, and ambience is a solid 10/10. Will be back

Yelp
Gorgeous restaurant in the Four Seasons. Set menu $125 or $95/person for lunch. If you're a vegan or vegetarian, this is not for you (me) . In said Set Options, I could only eat a few (of the 30ish) and I chose to eat one. They not only won't they make substitutions, they are less than friendly about it. It felt yucky. The servers were great. The food was not worth the money. I guess I'm used to LA, but it's a little surprising to be in a restaurant that seems to care less about vegan/vegetarians. We will not be back.

Yelp
I went in for a drink on a Saturday night it was really packed. Nowhere to sit at the bar I didn't want to get a table just for drinks. It looked pretty live, the food that I saw on people's tables looked good I definitely will give this place another try. And it's beautiful in there the Ambiance is nice

Yelp
Went on a Sunday and they only had brunch. Seemed like reservations were necessary and not available for individuals. The all-you-can-eat sushi and apps were very good. Subtle, simple, but delish. The NA sink I had was fresh and festive. The dessert was over the top. Bar staff were kind, seating staff not very friendly. Restaurant was in the hotel, and it was pricey but fun for splurge.

Yelp
Everything is so yummy here. The rice pot with truffles is mind blowing. We get it every time and it's so special. Their cocktails are delicious too. They understand flavors and mix it well. Every time we're in Boston, we come here. I've also been to the one in Vegas, and my daughter went to the one in Mykonos, Greece... And they were epic as well. A great experience!

Yelp
Came to celebrate my bday and I had a great time here. Our server was so kind and attentive, our waters were also filled, the empty plates were cleared promptly. Almost everything here is done tapas style so we were able to try an array of dishes on the menu. My favorite was actually the off menu special of the night which was a truffle tuna maki with daikon and caviar. The umami flavor was excellent. The o'toro tuna was probably the best I've had so far, the marbling on it was perfect. Everything else was also very good. The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor of the Four Seasons hotel. The ambiance is very nice and perfect for a romantic night out. Definitely want to come back to try the other items on the menu.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night and it did not disappoint. We got the seasonal omakase (upsold by our server who said it's "much better" than the signature) and the amount of food you get for the price alone makes it worth it. Of what we got: Watercress salad with edamame, avocado, and crispy rice: the perfect start to the meal. Flavorful but light, with a nice mix of textures from the crispy rice to the creamy avocado. Would get again. Tuna tataki: my friend's favorite, and we were told that the sour sauce it came with takes 3 days to prepare. I also thought it well-prepared tataki, but not that special and unique compared to tataki served at other places. Would get again if with dining with someone who really loves tuna. Seasonal scallop sashimi: another standout starter. It was so delightfully tender, fresh, and had well thought-out toppings that didn't dominate the dish and let the sweetness of the scallops shine through. Would get again. Pork belly skewers: delicious, tender, and with a light but flavorful dipping sauce. Definitely a well done dish, but not extra special compared to pork belly done at other places. Would get again if dining with someone who really loves pork belly. Seasonal vegetable tempura: unique in that I've never had okra or cabbage leaf tempura before (maybe I haven't tried enough tempura), but not unique in flavors or presentation. Would skip. Corn skewers with flavored butter: dry, grilled corn that you can dip and coat in butter to your liking. Would skip. Sushi platter with tuna maki, sea bass nigiri, and amber jack nigiri: the tuna maki was solid and fresh. The nigiri was pretty bland and hard instead of tender. Would skip and choose different sushi options if ordering à la carte. Seasonal botan ebi sashimi: this came out on the sushi platter, but deserves its own shoutout for how truly amazing it was. This dish was one bite's worth of soft melt-in-your-mouth texture and delicious sweet shrimp flavor. My favorite dish of the night. Would get again. Seasonal veal chop with roasted eggplant: after so many starters (which could have been a meal on their own), we got to our entrées. This dish was definitely well done and delicious, but on the tougher, chewier side of meats than my liking. The dipping sauce was definitely well paired though and once again light and refreshing but flavorful. Would skip. Jumbo prawn robata: maybe i'm not the biggest fan of grilled meats, but I also didn't find this dish as tender or flavorful as I would have liked, though it was definitely executed well. Would skip. Broccolini side: a solid accompaniment to the meats, with a smoky, grilled flavor. Not especially unique on its own though. Would skip. Dessert platter: while we could have ended our meal after the starters and sushi, we really could have ended our meal after our entrées course. Up to this point, we were able to finish everything that was brought out, but this giant final course finally defeated us. Accommodating our dairy allergy, the dessert platter consisted of fruit, two scoops of sorbet, and two prepared desserts: one coconut-based pudding and one cup of bananas foster without ice cream. I appreciated that the fruits didn't just consist of basic items that you can regularly find in a grocery store, as they included passion fruit, star fruit, lychee, yellow kiwi, and mango. These didn't taste the most flavorful and fresh though, so it would have been nice to feature in-season but still off-the-beaten-path fruits instead. The coconut-based pudding had a sour flavor, which wasn't my favorite. The bananas foster was done well, but not especially unique to Zuma. We both loved the coconut sorbet. Would just get that again if ordering à la carte. Overall, we did not leave this tasting menu hungry. The sheer volume and variety of dishes we got to try by far makes the price point worth it. Some notes on service: * They were busy when we got there at 6:30 and even busier when we left at 8:30. Even though we had reservations, we had to wait to be seated. * Maybe it's because we were seated way towards the back, but we weren't checked on that often for water refills. I would have preferred to have our own pitcher at the table at that point. * As someone else mentioned, we didn't get very detailed introductions to our dishes. Our server mentioned how some garnishes take days to make, so I would have liked to hear about which ones and how they were made. Though there were some hits and misses, it was overall a great experience. I liked that the atmosphere was upscale with dimmed lighting, but not so dark that you can barely see your dining companions' faces. Next time, I would come again and order à la carte so I don't leave feeling overstuffed!

Yelp
A great place for special occasions as the service and vibes of the place fits a higher end theme. Had the signature omakase, which was delicious as always. I think they use a tad too much acidity in some of their dishes, but the freshness of the fish, creative flavor combos, and delicious dishes makes up for it all. Would definitely recommend for a special night!

Yelp
I had such an amazing meal and service yesterday. I had been to Zuma before, but my cousin whom was with me hadn't. The server explained the menu and ordering options for us. We ordered a few appetizers, and a couple of sushi rolls, to share. The food and service didn't disappoint. And we are both foodies. Our reservations were for 6:30 on a Tuesday night. By the time we left, the place was packed. That tells you everything you need to know. I would highly recommend.

Yelp
We have dined here many times before, and have enjoyed the food and service. Last evening June 14 2025 the hostess in charge could not have been more unpleasant. She was very disrespectful to us and her coworkers. The lounge area at 6:00 was empty except for one table. We asked several times not to be seated next to the only occupied table in lounge. She told her assistant to explain to us that a large party would be arriving so all the empty tables would be pushed together, about 7 tables. Long story short it was not at all honest on her part, as we suspected. It was clear we were being discriminated against. We felt very unwelcome and will dine elsewhere in the future.

Yelp
I didn't love Zuma for the price. The elevated price set my expectations high. The scallops were very good, as was my strawberry mocktail, but everything else missed the mark. The portions are so tiny you have to buy many plates for it to add up to a full meal. I tried the edamame, veggie tempura, Shishido peppers, and lava cake dessert. I wish all of the plates were as elevated and intentional as the scallops, but instead they were simple and underwhelming.

Yelp
This place has plenty of reviews and doesn't need mine but I'm here to say SOLID place! Excellent menu and delicious food. Felt special. I was unwell during the dinner and I still enjoyed it. Food preparation was lovely thoughtful and caring. Very tasty. Chef should be proud. Very well run restaurant. I recommend this place if you're okay spending the big bucks!

Yelp
We got the signature omakase and it hit the spot. Skip your meals for the day because they bring you a TON of food. My favorites were the salmon tartare, the soft shell crab and the beef. MVP of the night was the black miso cod - it was oh so delicious!!! My least favorite dish was probably the scallops as they were a tad overcooked. For cocktails, I highly recommend the raspberry martini! And make sure you leave room for the chocolate lava cake dessert!

Yelp
One of the best spots for sushi in Boston! Loved every appetizer, and the ambience was just perfect. The service was top-notch, making the whole experience even better. Even if you're not a sushi fan, there are plenty of great options to choose from. Can't wait to come back and try more from their menu!

Yelp
Been coming here since it has opened in 2018. I'll say Zuma is consistent. Always a good vibe. Will be coming back here for years to come.

Yelp
Swanky Izakaya where the drink requires almost as much attention as the food. The Takahasi Cooler is a blueberry, blackberry, mint, lime and apple vodka concoction that I would highly recommend. Would also try the Yamatochi Cooler, a refreshing tequila, mint, ginger, lychee, elderflower and lime libation. The food is masterly crafted and presented, for which you will pay handsomely. The basic Omakase runs $138 and the premium is $168. Try Zuma's tempuras, either the rock shrimp with chili tofu (Ishi Ebi) or the softshell crab katsu with wasabi mayo and fennel salad. The Robata (grilled skewers, similar to Yakitori) is always yummy, and my personal favorites were the grilled scallops with pickled plum, shiso, and mentaiko butter. There's the signature black cod marinated in saikyo miso and wrapped in a hoba leaf, and a selection of 4 different Wagyu's. As for grilled seafood, I was pleased with the Alaskan king crab in a ponzu lime butter, although that alone will set you back $79. This is one of the few Japanese establishments where I would order some of the more exotic and mouthwatering cuts of sushi or sashimi. I would spring for the Chu Toro (medium fatty, my favorite) or the Oh Toro (very fatty) tuna, as well as the Uni, but only if the Uni is from Japan (do not waste your money on Uni from Maine), so be sure to ask ahead of time "where the Hni from?" Before ordering. The entire dinner will set you back a mini-King's ransom, so start saving now!

Yelp
Came here to celebrate a special occasion and it was a lovely experience. The interior is beautiful, and service was great. We sat next to the izakaya grills which was very fun to watch, and the seats were very comfortable! I got the lychee martini which was delicious, and my partner liked his Japanese manhattan (very strong!). For food, we decided to go a la carte and ordered lots: the soft shell crab katsu, pork belly skewers and grilled scallops. All were yum, though I would have liked the crab a half shade lighter. In addition we ordered the torched salmon belly, California maki and spicy tuna rolls, both were decent but the salmon belly was nothing to write home about. We also got the black cod, Chilean seabass (my favorite), the koji chicken and sweet corn. I particularly loved the herb salad that came with the crab and seabass! The chicken was probably our least favorite, it was very very tender but had a strange texture as well that made it a little hard to finish. For dessert we got the chocolate lava cake, yum! Overall, would go back to try their brunch but definitely a steep price point so probably only for special occasions.

Yelp
Food is probably 4/5 for what's available in Boston. Teriyaki Salmon is hit or miss, which is too bad for the price point. Cod much better, even if a bit more. Ambience and service is what contribute to the 4 stars. We've never had negative experiences with waitstaff at Zuma. The only time I had a negative start was walking in recently during lunch. Didn't think the hostess was considerate or professional or she treated us too casually. Had some casual non welcoming blank look and manner, which was too bad being the first point of contact. We didn't look like we belonged? Or we were there to eat the cheaper lunch ? I could be wrong but that was the momentary feeling. We were fortunate. Our waitress was outstanding - courteous and professional.

Yelp
Amazing experience - food, drinks, ambiance, all of it. Highly recommend the wagyu gyoza, chicken skewers, and rice hot pot, though everything on the menu looks delicious. We were celebrating and we will be back.

Yelp
Zuma Boston has became a favorite date spot for my boyfriend and I. We splurge on special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries so be prepared to spend at least $150+ (that includes drinks and tip). I'm not sure how quick you can get a table without a reservation, it's best to make one with how busy they get. Service is always great and I love the cozy, romantic vibe it has inside. Their bathroom and outside lobby make a great spot for mirror selfies and instagram pics. Food and drinks have consistently been excellent. I LOVE their uni (sea urchin). It's so creamy and fresh, you can tell they really use top quality. I've had bad uni before and it's not a pleasant taste.

Yelp
So my group and I mostly went to this place for drinks and appetizers so this review is based on that experience. Firstly, the area was beautiful. Warm lighting and large wooden panels line the wall. The aesthetic felt modern and sleek with influence from Japan. The music was not overbearing and even when the restaurant was full, it never was loud. The service was great. From the bartender to the waiters, everyone was kind and professional. They were patient and we never felt rushed to leave. In terms of food and drinks, the biggest highlight were the drinks. If you're coming here, I would recommend ordering the cocktails with a few appetizers to snack on. All of them tasted delicious and unique and would be the main reason if/when I come back. The food was alo very good with a solid selection. As I mentioned earlier x most were appetizers but all the ones we ordered were tasted great with the exception of the tuna/salmon dip, but it was mostly an issue with texture for me. The biggest issue for me was the price. As great of an experience as it was for me, the price was a bit much. I think the food was overpriced relative to the taste, portion, and experience. But if you're looking to impress and for a special occasion, I would recommend!

Yelp
I've been here 3 times and it never fails. The food is delish and amazing. The service was professional and promptly. Reservation is encouraged for sure but there's a $30/pp cancellation fee if you don't cancel prior to certain hour/date (forgot what it was). First two times, we did the $165 omakase menu. The third time, we decided to order a la cart which added up as the same price as omakase but it included drinks. We love the tuna & salmon tartare, truffle risotto and grilled cod. The restaurant located on the second floor on the Four Season hotel. It's dimmed and lively. The interior is nicely decorated, their high ceiling give it a grand feeling. It's always filled with patrons even on weekdays. Tip: when a server recommends you something, ask for the price. We ordered an 8-piece maki and it was $49, but it was yummy.

Yelp
So. Went with family who had been to Zuma before. The restaurant is beautiful. Modern, comfortable seating lots of windows. Elevator from lobby to restaurant. Staff was on point, informative and friendly . We tried several dishes and they were all very good. It's pricey so it's not a place we would go to often but it was a fun experience just the same. Their cocktails and drinks are generous and very good also. I'd recommend trying them out. I'll go back again when I'm in the area.

Yelp
We celebrated our friend's birthday here and the experience was so special. Every dish was delicious and Zuma definitely made it to my top restaurants in Boston. The tuna tartare was the most memorable with the presentation and unique blend of flavors. I was speechless after taking a bite of the tartare mixed with caviar served on top of the light buttery bread. The steak frites dipped in the green sauce was so delicious as well. We also enjoyed the skewers especially the crispy pork belly one. We got two orders of sushi. I forgot the name but one had hamachi and the other had soft shelled crabs. They were both amazing! For drinks, I got the lychee cocktail and it tasted like juice (so dangerous). The dessert sealed the deal! The green tea coconut cake with a side of ice cream was phenomenal. Our waitress was awesome and super friendly! They had like 3 kitchens so the food came pretty quick.

Yelp
So it was my first time at Zuma Boston. Be prepared to dress fashionable and trendy. It doesn't have to be expensive but I noticed a lot of the guests wearing designer and expensive brands.I heard that they validate the valet parking. Do so. It's a lot easier than parking somewhere under the hotel and also cheaper. I had a reservation even with the latest reservation time accepted I still had to wait 10 to 15 minutes. It's very night clubbing with the loud music and chatter of the guests. Ive been to the Zuma in Vegas, and it seems a bit more calm than Boston. I sat at the counter and the service was great. No complaints. The server assisted in helping me choose enough food al la carte. Great recommendations. I ordered some sushimi, a California roll, and a spider, some steak, and then the exotic fruit. It quickly added up to almost $300 for myself alone with the tip. Overall great experience and food. I would definitely come back!

Yelp
Wow. FANTASTIC Japanese restaurant in the Four Seasons hotel. My friend and I both ordered the premium omakase (the only difference between premium and standard, is the premium includes fresh wasabi, caviar, and truffles). It was served with about 10 courses (including dessert), each with their own unique flavor. Presentation of each dish was beautiful and thoughtful, and the flavor combinations were perfect. The fish was all VERY fresh and the fresh wasabi (grinded table-side) was something new I hadn't tried before! My favorite dishes were the mushroom-like risotto and the steak. You WILL be very full by the time you are finished. Environment is very sleek and classy, and they really stress a formal dress code (they will call and remind you of it several times before your reservation). Service was both friendly and attentive. Expensive price tag ($165), but the quality and taste of the food made it worth it to me. Incredible food and experience, I will 100% be back!!

Yelp
My friend and I came for lunch during Dine Out Boston, for which had a streamlined menu that you could choose 4 things from, for $32 (some things cost extra). Both of our orders came with a miso soup, which was a bad start to our meal. There was definitely way too much miso paste in the soup, creating a really imbalanced, heavy, fermented flavour. I took a few sips and couldn't bear it any longer. Actually quite shocking to me, since I think miso soup is a very fundamental dish for most high-end Japanese (-adjacent?) restaurants to perfect. Our eight dishes came intermittently as they were ready, which I liked, since it felt like we could eat leisurely without seeing a tableful of yet-uneaten food. Some highlights that I really liked were the spicy tuna roll, which had a really full, fresh flavour in the fish and a very tasty dollop of sauce on the top; and the salmon tartare, which was very fragrant and came on top of a yummy, slightly-sweet bun (not sure why it was called a miso bun). We had the prawn and black cod dumplings, which had a strange mouthfeel to it - just a bit of a strange juxtaposition for the flavour/texture of fish in the wrapping of a dumpling, which is def not common. But still a very good dish nonetheless! I also had the mixed sashimi donburi which was really delicious! The fish bites were so fresh and the portion sizes of fish, veggie, avocado, rices, etc. was very well-planned. Tuna tataki was a bit meh - not an amazing flavour from the slightly seared edges but the sauce was a nice touch. At the end, there was a nice treat - I had forgotten that we had indicated that we were here for a birthday meal, and the server surprised us with a scoop of matcha ice cream on the house :) I love matcha sm, so I was super happy with this. All in all, definitely a good meal, and I was glad I had the chance to come try it out during Restaurant week. However, skimming through the normal menu and noting how much dishes ordinarily cost, I'm not sure if the quality of everything would be necessarily worth another visit. (Especially the miso soup, the poor quality of which honestly still confounds me.)

Yelp
Stopped in for a drink,I got the burning something, smoked Japanese Whiskey paired with egg whites and some juices. Drink was a 9/10. Good vibe. I'll be back for dinner.

Yelp
I love Zuma! The ambience is such a mood. I love the decor. And the food always has great presentation ! It's definitely a great place to choose for a birthday or a date night. I love the food here the last time coming we had a cute caviar tasting dish It was so good. I must say I do love the shrimp dumplings. The fried lobster and honestly have actually had so many things here that I can't even think of at the moment but everything's always so delicious. The drinks are also great! It does get busy here sometime so I do suggest definitely making reservations. It's not the type of place that you can just walk in and be guaranteed a table. Due to it being busy a lot sometimes the service could be a little bit slow but still not bad but. It is on the pricier end so that's why I say it might be more for just certain occasions, but it's definitely worth it.

Great food , fast service!!! Will come back soon ! I wish I stayed in the hotel upstairs. Great drinks
