The Best Rooftop Bars and Restaurants in Rome

"On the top floor of Palazzo Fendi, the Roman headquarters of Zuma, a top-of-the-range Japanese restaurant chain, has installed a stylish rooftop bar, a place where elegance meets innovation. The breathtaking view over the city, with its ancient and majestic skyline, also embraces a work of contemporary architecture, La Lanterna, by architect Fuksas, which dominates the building opposite in an incredible blend of antiquity and modernity. Each drink at Zuma is a fusion of Japanese tradition and contemporary creativity, such as the Tokyo Spritz, which combines sake, Prosecco, and hints of yuzu, or the Yuzu Martini, whose lemony flavor blends perfectly with the freshness of the evening air. The sophisticated atmosphere of the Zuma Rooftop Bar, with its clean lines and modern furniture, is an invitation to relax and let yourself be transported by the beauty of Rome." - The MICHELIN Guide

Happy Hour in Rome: A Guide to Bars for Aperitivo | Eater

"A posh rooftop venue on the fifth floor of Palazzo Fendi combining izakaya-inspired cooking with a La Dolce Vita sensibility, where Japanese–Mediterranean snacks and refined cocktails—think fried calamari and sea bass crudo—make for an upscale, cosmopolitan aperitivo experience with terrace views." - Luciana Squadrilli

We had an amazing experience. We went with a couple of friends to celebrate my wife's birthday. Beautiful venue, excellent service, delicious food and lovely atmosphere. We really wanted to say thank you to Antonella and for her team for making it even more special this day 🫶 all the best and see you next time!

This experience was incredible. The staff were so attentive, the food was delicious, and the vibes were immaculate. Nothing against Italian food, but how many times can we eat pizza and pasta 🤌🏼 This was such a breath of fresh food. My husband and I left feeling full and satisfied. We highly recommend the broccoli and screwers! Thank you to Cesar for taking great care of us.

Google
The atmosphere, especially the rooftop terrace, is exceptional. Amazing views (pics are of the view). The food is very good but slightly overpriced. I’d be willing to overlook the high prices if the service was better. Unfortunately, the restaurant is pretentious and servers are rude and condescending.

Zuma Roma delivers an exceptional dining experience, highlighted by its breathtaking terrace, where Domenieo’s outstanding hospitality made us feel truly welcomed and cared for. The food is a masterful showcase of contemporary Japanese izakaya-style cuisine, with the spicy beef tenderloin stealing the show—perfectly grilled over the robata, it’s tender, succulent, and bursting with a harmonious blend of sesame, red chili, and sweet soy that lingers delightfully without overwhelming. The fish offerings are equally impressive, particularly the miso-marinated black cod wrapped in hoba leaf, its flaky texture and delicate balance of sweet miso and citrus making it a standout dish. The sushi and sashimi, like the seared tuna with ponzu, are impeccably fresh, with vibrant yet refined flavors. For dessert, the special sweet bouquet—a stunning deluxe platter of exotic fruits, house-made ice creams, sorbets, and cakes—was a visual and culinary masterpiece, balancing rich peanut toffee and coconut ice cream with refreshing sorbets for a perfect finish. While the premium pricing reflects the upscale experience, the amazing terrace and Domenieo’s fantastic hosting make Zuma Roma a must-visit for an unforgettable meal.

Google
Small compared to other Zuma, but I love the vibes on the roof. Make a reservation ahead of time. A live DJ was on site. The server was excellent. Although I made the reservation three weeks ago and specifically requested a table in the middle, the receptionist assigned a table on the side. I had to request a change for a better table, which was annoying. Also, the staff at the reception should be more friendly.

The food is really good but the service is incredible. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, the views from the roof top terrace were excellent and the ambience was very good.

Google
Zuma Rome is undoubtedly a beautiful place, with an elegant atmosphere especially in the evening. However, for a restaurant of this level, I expected more attention to detail — especially on a special occasion. I had clearly requested in advance a birthday cake for my girlfriend, with her name on it and strictly without any nuts or peanuts. When we arrived, no one mentioned the request — I had to remind them myself. And guess what? The cake arrived without the name and with nuts. To be fair, the manager did try to recover the situation, and I appreciated the effort. But at this price point and reputation, such mistakes simply shouldn’t happen. Will I come back? Honestly, I’m not sure. I’ll probably consider other options before spending €400 on a dinner that, while visually refined, lacked the warmth and attention one expects from a top-tier experience.

Google
The place is truly incredible. We had high expectations since we’ve tried other Zuma locations. The meat was amazing, but the sushi wasn’t worth it at all, it’s a place specialized in sushi, but it doesn’t live up to the standard. Still, we enjoyed the overall experience.

Yelp
Zuma in Rome is a dazzling blend of exceptional Japanese cuisine and stunning rooftop views, making it one of the city's most sought-after dining experiences. Perched atop Palazzo Fendi, this chic restaurant offers breathtaking panoramas of Rome's skyline, with iconic landmarks like the Altare della Patria in full view--a perfect backdrop for an unforgettable meal. The sushi at Zuma is nothing short of phenomenal. Every bite reflects the chef's meticulous attention to detail and commitment to quality. The tuna tartare with caviar is a standout, boasting rich flavors and melt-in-your-mouth textures. The nigiri and sashimi are incredibly fresh, while the signature rolls, like the spicy tuna or wagyu maki, showcase a modern twist on traditional techniques. Complementing the sushi menu are creative small plates and robata-grilled dishes, all beautifully presented and packed with flavor. Zuma's rooftop bar and lounge area are equally enticing, offering expertly crafted cocktails in a vibrant, upscale setting. Reservations are essential to secure a coveted rooftop table, especially during peak hours. For those without a booking, arriving at opening time increases your chances of snagging a prime spot. Whether for a special occasion or a casual indulgence, Zuma combines culinary artistry with unmatched views, making it a must-visit in Rome.

Yelp
Restaurant with great view, great location... Food freshness The service was OK. 我们有一天没有订到位置 第二天继续预定。

Yelp
Unfortunately it wasn't there for me at this location. The service was less than par for in my opinion is suppose to be 5 star. It's a nice restaurant. The hostess was great and personable when you get off the elevator. The main dishes were good but not great. They brought them out so far apart that my sushi was as the last thing to reach the table and everyone was as done eating their hot dishes because it was taking so long. Our servers were scarce and it was hard to keep our drinks flowing. I wanted dessert but it was taking so long to even get refills I was as over it. I've been to other Zuma locations and this one just isn't it.

Yelp
The vibe is nice and elegant. It's giving date night. Many people were dressed up. I, of course, wore jeans and Uggs :-) The shrimp tempura with the chili threads and citrus mayo was delicious. If you squeeze the lime on the shrimp, it takes to to a whole other level. The fried tofu salad was also really good. The greens add a very nice fresh touch to the fried dish. The tofu is well seasoned and perfectly crispy. Eliana, our waitress, was amazing. She knew the menu well, followed up and kept track of my dietary restrictions. Midway through the meal, she came and replaced our plates with clean ones, which was much appreciated. The tiger prawn is what I imagined to be shrimp tempura. It is a simple dish and the sauce is good. You can tell it's fresh. I would definitely come here again!

Yelp
First and foremost, I have to say this was the best meal I've ever had in my life. I was in rome on vacation and happened to get reservations for zuma. We went in a little early and went to the rooftop bar to enjoy a couple of cocktails before our table was ready. Once it was time we downstairs to our table. We ordered a bottle of champagne, a bottle of white wine, and some California maki, shrimp maki, and spicy tuna maki. We had Domenico as our waiter, and he was an absolute blast, so attentive and knowledgeable on everything on that menu. We ordered passion fruit martini and a yuzuma mule also, and the bar made them perfectly. We ordered a bunch of things and shared them so we could all get a good taste of everything. We then ordered a salmon and tuna tartare, mushroom oysters, artichoke tempura, and edemame for appetizers. The seafood was so fresh and full of flavore, and the mushrooms were out of this world. For a main course, we ordered the baby chicken, ribeye in wayfu sauce (which hands down is the best steak I have ever had), and iberico pork. Out of everything we ordered, there was not 1 thing I could even try to find something bad about. The service was beyond over the top, and so was the food. This place is a great experience with an even better menu.

Yelp
Wow! We were looking for a restaurant with nice atmosphere close to the Spanish stairs and ended up deciding on Zuma. We have stopped going to our local Zuma in Miami since the quality has been going downhill. We figured we give the one in Rome a chance maybe it will be a different experience. I was wrong. We were hungry so we ordered a bunch of different dishes. Everything was disgustingly low quality. The service was good and location is convenient and beautiful. I can see going there for some cocktails with the view but for not for the food.

Yelp
Zuma in Rome is an absolute vibe and We were treated like royalty, but really everyone gets treated with care and they exhibit an immense level of professionalism. The drinks were refreshing and I would definitely say ZUMA has top 5 cocktails in the game. Their fresh nigiri melted in your mouth, almost to the point of addiction. Moving onto their amazing cold dishes, they were exquisite, and the presentation matched the taste. I know I will have to try ZUMA again whether its here or somewhere else, but definitely make a reservation when in town especially for their rooftop sunset vibe.

Yelp
Boujee. Setting is epic. Service was perfect. Dishes were good and drinks were great as shown in the pic below sporting triple berries. However, please get with the times on one single thing, especially when the choice of rolls you offer is slim at best. This resulted in a dual star beat down which was painful as everything else was so nice. I just wanted a superior roll without a bunch of mayo based sauce, deep fry, or spicy tuna. Here is the secret recipe: * Inside - Saki, Hamachi, Avocado, Crab. * Outside - Eel with light Unagi sauce. For some reason, I have never found a sushi place that offers this mix for a roll on their menu so I always have to special order. This place would not accept a special order roll. Really?

Yelp
Been here a couple of times while in Rome this trip and I keep hoping the experience will get better. It doesn't. We had to get up four times to find the server to get drinks or add food. Servers were friendly but very inattentive. The food was just ok but NOT worth the price. Hated being rushed out of there after two hours when we had already spend €450 for 3 people.

Yelp
Loved it! The food was fresh, unique, delicious. Service was very good, not perfect but very good. The pace of service was great and relaxed. No pressure to eat and go. The weather was perfect, 70's on the deck. We stayed for over 2 hours. They served dish after dish YUM. (2pp =$240.) suggest you get a reservation on a beautiful afternoon for a late lunch. It's worth it.

Yelp
Probably some of the best Japanese cuisine I have enjoyed, mind you I have never been to Japan. I have eaten at NOBU twice in NYC and several times in Vegas (multiple locations in both Cities) and Zuma was superior in my humble opinion. The Iberia Pork was fantastic as was all the traditional Sashimi, Sushi & Japanese dishes. Service also stood out as above great. Highly recommend

Abdullah A.

Yelp
The staff was super friendly. Food was really good, prepared with fresh ingredients. The sommelier recommended a really good wine.

Robert M.

Yelp
This place is the classic style over substance, where how it looks and acts matter more than how enjoyable the food is. If the food was judged on it's own it would still be lacking quality and taste. However, when adding extremely high pricing to the equation, it meal fails to match the expectations set terrible. If you want to take a first date that wants to get dressed up, you want to be treated poorly, and you enjoy overpaying for food. Then this restaurant is for you.

Yelp
2 stars, unfortunately. It's a great vibe, but when it comes to food & service-- the 2 main factors-- the presence was not felt. The food was small portioned and very salty. We tried a variety of items as there were 6 of us, however all were underwhelming. Also, they ran out of tofu which is surprising for an Asian restaurant. Soups came without spoons and we were charged for soups that we did not order. When it came to service, the bill was incorrect and the servers were absent for long periods of time. Even after clarifying the errors in the bill, it was still incorrect. Overall an underwhelming experience for the price which seems to be consistent with other reviews on this location.

Yelp
Me and 5 other friends came here for dinner after getting the recommendation from our hotel. Ambiance: Zuma is a beautiful restaurant located in a popular part of Rome and surrounded by high end retail. The vibe is contemporary/modern with soft lighting for a romantic night with a loved one or a chance to celebrate with friends. Service: Not their strength. When we ordered appetizers, we asked for 2 spicy crab miso soups and 3 regular miso soups. They brought those 5 soups out and then brought 2 additional soups. We told them that we only ordered 5. He waiter came back and was insisting that he heard me say bring 2 additional spicy soups. I told him that was incorrect and in fact didn't make any sense given that we only have 6 people dining and only 5 wanted soup. The waiter relented and took the soups away. When we asked for the bill (which didn't come for another 20 minutes - even after reminding them 3 times that we need the bill), the restaurant included the 2 additional soups as a charge. We asked them to remove it. The waiter said he would and came back with a new bill that STILL had the soups on it. We had to tell him again that the extra soups are still on the bill. At that point he had the manager deal with the bill. We also asked for a side of spicy mayo, water refills and a few other items that never came. Food: I ordered the spicy edamame, tuna maki, spicy crab miso, and veggie maki rolls. All were decent, but not anything to write home about. The food and ambiance were great but the service was very disappointing.

Yelp
I have to say the ambiance at the restaurant is great! Very friendly and professional staff. Our server was awesome! When it comes to food ... you can tell the sea food is very fresh but my exceptions were much higher. For sure a place to try if you are in any of cities the restaurant has a location.

Yelp
Best fusion sushi in Rome. Check Is expensive but the food, scene, service and location are flawless. Check out the rooftop bar with a view on Trinità dei Monti.

Yelp
Terrible!!!! Me and my girl had booked a board for a drink. A gentle waitress guide us to a our board. After some minutes came an other waiter and told us that we couldn't seat "without a booking on their list " .... The terrace was totally dark !! We asked a lamp to our board but they didn't give nothing ... - Price extremely high/ quality of food extremely poor !!!! The worst sushi that I never eat in Rome ! - we have wait 1 and 1/2 to eat one dish of 6 peaces of sushi ... - The waiter came back to inform us that "we should leave the board because they should prepare "the dance floor ....(?!?)"on a terrace of 10 m2 A shame for the restaurant

Yelp
Excellent food, atmosphere, & service. The lobster is a must try. I wasn't expecting as many non-sushi items to be in the menu.

Yelp
Great location and excellent Asian food. Service was friendly and knowledgeable (fresh wasabi!) -- went here twice for lunch and loved both times - also good people watching -- go here !

Yelp
This review is for the rooftop where it is hands down the best in the city to feel "home away from home" while getting top service and delicious cocktail. The rooftop is first come first serve and is closed on Mondays. You can call a few hours before opening if you are going to be a large group, just to give them heads up but basically if you show up around 7 which is super early for the locals, you will get a table. The rooftop has its own menu, mostly finger food but also includes some rolls (less complicated, cold rolls). We always order a bottle and or cocktails and munch on two or three rolls with spicy edamame between 4 people. Given Rome's historical scene everywhere else, it is nice to be at a modern, "familiar" surroundings at Zuma once in awhile. :) The restaurant part where I've only been for corporate functions seemed super swanky. The food isn't as omg-is-that-real as the Zuma in other cities around the world (i.e. HK, London) but remember you are in Rome and for Rome, the Japanese cuisine at this level is considered top. Enjoy!

Tselmuun S.

Yelp
We had drinks upstairs at the lounge which had nice ambiance and great cocktails. For dinner we went downstairs and that's where everything went bad. Super disappointed with sushi! Quality of the sushi was really bad, I felt like I was eating sushi which I buy from a store on the go. I took my boyfriend out for his birthday dinner, I asked the server to bring me a chocolate soufflé with 1 candle on it after we were done with dinner which he did not and brought me the check instead. Ordered bottle of wine, towards the end the server poured someone else's different wine into ours. I'm really disappointed with Zuma Roma, won't be going back. Dinner for two was over 200 euro, which I won't mind paying of the food was good but it wasn't. If I could I would give 0 stars

Yelp
Make sure you make a reservation. #we had de tasting menu and my favorite dishes were: prawns tempura, black cod, pork spiedini, fish gyoza
google avatar

Dalal D.

Yelp
Great service perfect summer place to be at! Their rooftop has a great vibe and the drinks are made just the right way! The food is super tasty and definitely worth the price. I will totally recommend it to anyone who wants a classy, chill rooftop in the heart of Rome.
google avatar

Nicole N.

Yelp
The food is like every other Zuma in Miami, New York, or London etc. was not seated exactly at my reservation time and asked for my name about ten times. Service is not up to par.

Lauren C.

Yelp
A nice cuisine change in Italy! I stumbled upon this sushi haven while exploring the Spanish Steps and I was so surprised. The restaurant is situated atop a tall building and offers lovely views of the city and a rooftop that is open most of the week (except Mondays). However, the interior of the restaurant is equally attractive with a modern and sleek look. There is a large semi-circular chef's table where you can watch the sushi being made to order. The craft cocktail are amazing and while here I got a delicious passionfruit drink. The sushi is incredible fresh and well prepared in a city that is so well known for its Italian dishes. The wait staff was very friendly and hospitable even when I just (awkwardly) got a table for me! Would definitely recommend to anyone that is looking for a cuisine change in Rome.

Yelp
We have been fortunate to eat at several zuma locations around the world. Rome location has great service and high quality sushi and other dishes. Such a great meal and welcome break from all the pasta and pizza our family has been gorging on for days. Not cheap but worth it.

Nadir Q.

Yelp
Wonderful experience. I cannot comment on the seafood since I only ate the vegeterian and beef dishes but everything was very fresh and tasty. Highly recommend for the ambiance as well

Ri R.

Yelp
This was arguably the worst dining experience I have ever had. If you're looking for a disappointing meal and bad service look no further than the Zuma in Rome. I have been a costumer at Zuma in Miami and London and have never had a bad experience at either of Zuma's other locations. The waiter forgot half of our appetizers and then never brought them and messed up one of our entrees. The meat arrived RAW in two of the dishes ordered. The "Pollo marinato al miso, arrostito al forno su legno di cedro" (Barley miso marinated chicken oven roasted on cedar wood) was pink inside - I wish I had taken a photograph to attach. The "Costata di manzo con salsa wafu ed aglio croccante" (Rib eye steak with wafu sauce and garlic crisps) was also undercooked. The raw steak would have been acceptable perhaps had we not made it clear to the waiter that we wanted the steak to be cooked "medium." It appears that the wait staff at Zuma not only fail to remember dishes but also fail to merely check the food that it put on the table. Our meat was visibly- NOT edible! Thus my disgust in Zuma Roma was not only due to the fact that the food was far below expected quality, it was also due unacceptable service. We were not seated until two hours after our reservation after being ridiculed by the hostesses. I was so overwhelmed with disappointment and upset by my experience I felt the need to write this review to warn other Zuma lovers of the disastrous disgrace that is Zuma's Rome location.

Yelp
Great terrace inventive food. Service could improve a bit . Great sommelier advice. Prices are high as expected. Great atmosphere and vibe though.
google avatar

Sharan S.

Yelp
Incredible Ambience. Warm, attentive service. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is that the food is perhaps a tad less sophisticated than the Zuma in Dubai. It deserves a solid 4 stars though and a must if you're in Rome and seeking some non-Italian fare for a change.

Jenny B.

Yelp
food is good but not worth the judgment from the hostess. Came in straight from lake como for early dinner. Would not recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
This is on the highest floor of the fendi private suites / fendi store and it s gorgeous. The entire building. The service is great. We had breakfast here in the morning and had excellent Italian pastries and American styled eggs. Multiple fresh juices to choose from and many types of coffee. I was skeptical going to a Japanese restaurant while in Italy but if you are staying at this hotel i recommend either having breakfast/dinner/cocktail on the rooftop so you can enjoy the charming neighborhood.

Sudhir S.

Yelp
Great place but impolite manager! Sat for an hour enjoying the beautiful place with an excellent waiter and then manager tells is we need to move aonthwy can accommodate a group of 11! Unheard of... I let my concierge at Hotel Eden know. Unacceptable!

Kenna G.

Yelp
Looove this place. Major vibe. Atmosphere is top notch--contemporary yet exotic. Food was hands down some of the best Japanese food that I've ever had. On top of the restaurant is a rooftop bar which is also a big turn up. Prices are definitely high, but it's expected due to the excellence of the service, food, and restaurant itself.

Dedub W.

Yelp
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend. Other reviews commented on the attentive service, but it was not in evidence when I was there or perhaps refers to the service in the restaurant (4th floor) versus on the terrace. The poor service ruined what otherwise would have been an inventive meal, good cocktails and great view/ ambience. for the price point and sheer number of waitstaff milling about, the service should have been better.
