"Technically in West Haven, Zuppardi’s feels like the most “neighborhood” apizza joint in town, with wood paneling, black metal chairs, and the slight sheen of oil on every surface. Every pie, especially The Special (a red pie topped with mozzarella, mushrooms, and homemade fennel sausage), is so loaded that it’s hard to enjoy the crust underneath. They come out piping hot—so hot that everything slides off when you grab a slice—so practice some patience for optimal enjoyment. These pies lean more toward New York-style pizza, likely due to the generous amount of mozzarella and the fact that they use traditional deck ovens as opposed to coal-fired ovens. However, they taste better as leftovers, so make sure you ask for a box if you accidentally filled up on Foxon Park white birch soda. " - anne cruz, team infatuation

"The wood paneling, black metal chairs, and slight sheen of oil on every surface in Zuppardi’s in West Haven makes it feel like the quintessential hometown pizza joint. While you’ll usually find block-long lines full of tourists outside other New Haven apizza spots, it’s never hard to find a table here, as long as Billy down the street isn’t having his seventh birthday party. photo credit: Lisa Nichols The pies at this nearly 100-year-old spot have that classic chewy, charred thin crust, but they’re much cheesier and saucier than the other New Haven pies around town. We found that slices here actually taste better as leftovers, so make sure you ask for a box if you accidentally filled up on Foxon Park white birch soda. Food Rundown photo credit: Lisa Nichols Plain Red Pie With Mozzarella This apizza feels more like a New York-style pizza, which is probably due to the generous amount of mozzarella and the fact that they use traditional deck ovens as opposed to the coal fired ovens like most other New Haven apizza joints. Still, it makes for a super solid old-school slice that’s easy to fold—for a more traditional New Haven apizza experience, order the traditional plain pie with just a sprinkling of pecorino romano. photo credit: Lisa Nichols The Special This is their signature red pie topped with mozzarella, canned mushrooms, and misshapen, hearty chunks of their homemade fennel sausage. Sometimes they come out piping hot—so hot that everything slides off when you grab a slice—so practice some patience (we know, it’s hard) for optimal enjoyment." - Ciera Velarde

The clam pizza was out of this world. If you do the clam pizza ask for it half n half. Half with cheese and the other half without cheese. Trust me it will knock your socks off. Also the Casino pizza is amazing as well. If you are looking for an amazing clam or shrimp pizza this is the spot!

Will be one of the best pizzas you ever have. An excellent pie. A little thicker than most New Haven places, but it is absolutely delicious; the dough and sauce are ELITE. Unreal how they do all of that in that small space. The service is exceptional. The people inside are so kind. If you’re around the area, add this to your pizza tour.

I’m hoping I caught them on an off day but my small traditional pie was burnt, past charred. The sauce and cheese were delicious but the burnt taste was there. Price was very affordable. Luckily I found a parking spot in the lot but parking is very tight. Either street or lot. Staff very friendly. Nowhere to wait inside though so definitely recommend calling ahead if doing takeout. I had a 45 minute wait time at about 6 pm on a Tuesday. I’ll try again to see if I have a better experience the 2nd try.

Legendary Apizza cooked to perfection. Up there with the best and personally above Sally's and just underneath or close to Roseland. The fresh clam ($24 for a small) is much more balanced (not overbearingly salty) and well cooked compared to Frank Pepe's, with a balanced and fresh flavor. Add some grated cheese to really bring it to the next level. The pepperoni with mozzarella ($12.50 for a small) was a perfect cook, delicious flavor, and balanced ratios. This location, the original, is away from busy New Haven tucked away in a quieter West Haven neighborhood making it easier to access. We went for lunch on a Monday around noon and there were plenty of seats and no wait. Service was prompt and friendly. A reasonable sized parking lot with a clean interior, pretty typical pizza parlor atmosphere. Absolutely worth checking out as part of the legendary Apizza places in the area as this place is a stand out. Note: no refills on fountain soda ($2) so a pitcher could be a good idea for a group ($5).

Google
A really good pizza shop, excellent pies. The crust is great - a little thicker than some other new haven pies but really tasty and still crispy. It holds up a heavier layer of toppings, and the pizzas are large and filling. We enjoyed everything immensely and will be back

A wonderful little spot that has been in business since 1934. Plenty of great options to choose from including a large list of beers. No wonder the parking lot is full of customers compared to other establishments in the area.

Zuppardi's Apizza Review – A Top 10 Must-Try in the Pizza Capital of the World In a state renowned as the pizza capital of the world, Zuppardi's Apizza has cemented itself as one of Connecticut's finest. Located in West Haven, this family-run gem has been serving up some of the most consistent and flavorful pies since 1934—and it’s no surprise why it’s one of our top 10 favorites in the state. The crust is a masterpiece, striking that perfect balance between a slight chew and a delicate crisp. Their signature sauce is bright, rich, and just sweet enough to complement the gooey, high-quality cheese they generously layer on top. Whether you're ordering a classic plain pie or venturing into their specialty options, every bite is a testament to their commitment to tradition and quality. The clam pizza is an absolute standout—it’s fresh, garlicky, and brimming with the taste of the shoreline. But even their simpler pies, like sausage or pepperoni, showcase the artistry in their toppings and balance of flavors. Zuppardi's isn’t just about the pizza—it’s about the experience. The staff is warm and welcoming, and there’s a sense of history and pride that makes every visit feel special. If you’re a pizza enthusiast in Connecticut, this is a must-visit spot that more than lives up to the hype. Zuppardi's has carved out a place among the best of the best in a state overflowing with incredible options. If you haven't tried them yet, you're missing a slice of true pizza greatness!

Zuppardi’s is TOP-NOTCH pizza 🍕 if you’ve ever heard someone saying “New Haven has the best pizza” & been curious.. just next to New Haven in West Haven is Zupp’s. & you NEED to try their pizza. Absolutely delicious. Pro Tip: let it cool a little so nothing falls off because you’re going to want every single piece of that pie in your mouth. Lol. Seriously GO!!!! ❤️

Yelp
Took a break from Yelp but now I am back :) Went here on 3:00PM on a Saturday. Perfect timing!! Small wait, but nothing crazy. They offer dining, but there aren't a ton of tables so just a warning if you come at peak times i would guess you would have to wait longer. They have a pretty big beer selection, which was nice to enjoy with my pizza. I had an IPA of Groton by "thebarnct." I love that they are supporting CT breweries! I got a classic cheese pizza and man was it good! Seems like a classic "apizza," but the medium came with enough slices that I was able to take five home! I ate about five in the restaurant. Overall, I am very impressed with Zuppardis, definitely had a "small town vibe" and the staff were super friendly. The pizza was distinct enough from Pepis and Sallys for me to tell that they put their own spin on it. Also, it has been in business 90 years this year!

Yelp
Ok today's pizza was fantastic. Homemade sausage. Salad dressing was very acidic. Service was great, even though it was busy. Pizza was amazing. Today they hit a home run.

Yelp
New Yorkers talk about our pizza with pride, knowing full well that try as they might, imitators will not be able to make pizza as good. Plus, getting pizza by the slice isn't part of the culture or economy of most places outside NY, so it's a losing game for most. Chicago pizza is it's own category that can hardly be compared to the pizza I know from NY, but New Haven pizza can kinda sorta give NY's a run for its money. I've done a tour of New Haven's pizza spots maybe twice now, and returned to Zuppardi's on a recent road trip specifically because I wanted that clam pie again. It was decent, but my crew thought less so. I think they prefer red pies, and a white pie really needs to really pack a flavor punch to wow them, and unfortunately this didn't. I follow a mostly pescatarian diet and love seafood so I'm more partial to it but I agree there could have been a lot more umami on the pie. The toastiness of the bread was great though. I won't name the other pizzerias I liked more in this review, but when it comes to clam pie Zuppardi's is king. Recommend ordering over the phone for pick up as the fastest option.

Yelp
I am new to the area so have been doing my own little pizza tour of everyone's pizza recommendations. Reddit led me to try Zuppardi's. Every pizza spot I go to, I order a tomato pie with extra grated cheese and light or no char as the control of my experiment. Zupp's also has an option to add fresh garlic, which I did. it was pretty good. Not the best I've had thus far, but far from the worst. I loved the crust but the sauce was slightly too acidic for my liking. I also wouldn't add the fresh garlic again. The price was great, $10.80 for a small. I liked Zuppardi's enough to try it again but I wouldn't crave it.

Yelp
Another apizza place tried in the New Haven area! I've heard from many CT locals that this is THE spot to try, better than all other apizza places! My friend and I came here on a Tuesday evening and it was pretty busy! Luckily we didn't have to wait for a table, but mostly all the tables were full. We decided to get the classic half plain half mozz. As well as half sausage, pepper, onion & margarita. Our personal favorite was the sausage, pepper, onion and classic mozz. To be honest, it wasn't super spectacular. Pretty mid level pizza. It also wasn't giving apizza style, just normal wood oven pizza. The margarita one also tasted very watery. Good sauce though! However, not enough tang or sweetness that I would like. I personally would not come here again just because there are better apizza places I've tried. But I'm glad we decided to check this place out. Note: street parking & small parking lot available

Yelp
Fridays have always been my favorite day of the week and Zuppardi's Apizza is the perfect way to celebrate a special day. The service and ambience makes you feel like you are a part of the family. Each slice melts in your mouth and makes you look forward to the next time before you even leave.

Yelp
We met up with friends here on a Saturday night at 7 p.m. The place was packed. It was approximately a 20 min wait to be seated and another 5 to 10 mins to get orders in. We were seated in the back dining room area. No frills, local, old school pizza joint. Pizzas came out relatively quickly and we all enjoyed our chosen pizzas. We also ordered the table sized gorgonzola salad which got a thumbs up. Our server was friendly and efficient. Casual vibe, great pizza and service. We do all love Zuppardi's, but each has his or her own ranking and it is definitely in the running for best pizza so be sure to check it out! Restroom clean. Parking is limited in lot and street parking is usually filled up, but we were able to find a spot close by.

Yelp
What a gem! We've had Zupps multiple times off their truck or when a friend picked it up. We wanted to head to the restaurant to try it hot and fresh. We were very happy with our experience! One of the thicker style apizza's and had good flavor at each layer. We watched them prepping and making their freezer pies. They also had Libby's Italian ice and a good cannoli. Definitely will head back soon!

Yelp
Best New Haven pizza I've ever eaten yet Their pizza is as good as it gets. The crust was delicate, the toppings of eggplant and ricotta was really good on a pizza. I really enjoyed come there to have their New Haven style pizza which I think is better than Frank Pepe's. Customer service was very good, inside was busy and staff were friendly. I hope to be back there soon.

Cindy H.

Yelp
First time here. Shared medicine with husband - cheese pizza with sausage, peppers , onions. Crust was tasty & crispy. Was excellent!! Fennel sausage is homemade ! Delish. Husband loved birch beer - was clear rather than brown color. Very casual place. We were there around 2pm & got a seat but I imagine noon-1pm might be tough. Now we have another fantastic place for pizza just off Rt 95.

Marissa L.

Yelp
I love the pizza at Zuppardi's. The pizza there is just as good as, if not better than, the New Haven pizza icons, but without the long lines. They've been making pizza here since the 1930s, and it's clear why they've been so popular over so many decades. We got two pizzas on a recent visit - a small clam pizza with mozzarella, and a medium half and half, splitting between the special (red pizza with sausage and mushroom) and the escarole and beans. While the clam was our favorite (one of the pizzas that they're known for) with its fresh-shucked clams and perfect texture, all three were excellent. The special has their homemade fennel sausage, which is incredible, and the white bean and escarole was just so different from pizzas you find elsewhere and tasted so healthy (for a pizza). Service was friendly, and they helped us with the best way to split up our three choices and our allergy questions. They have a parking lot, and there's plenty of nearby street parking, so no issues there. I wish we lived closer so we could go more often, and I'm so tempted by the frozen pizzas, even though I know they won't come out quite the same in our oven. I can't wait until our next visit, and it's absolutely worth the trip for amazing pizza.

Yelp
I usually never come up this way however I was headed on my way home from a night at Mohegan Sun and wanted to try the spot after a couple of recommendations. I arrived about 10 minutes before they opened on a Sunday and a few minutes before opening a line started to form and they let us all in. I was alone and knew what I was getting after a quick look on the menu however it took them about 10 minutes to come over. I ordered a medium half clam and half special pie. I was getting worried when a table of four got there after me, ate their pie and left and I still hadn't gotten mine. It took 25 minutes but it finally arrived. I guess I was just over anxious and had to realize they shuck the clams fresh and would take longer than a standard pie. From what I had seen, because of the weight of the toppings it could be very floppy so I asked if they can put a little more cook on it and it turned out to be really good. I enjoyed the sausage side however I really loved the garlicky clam much more. I knew this was going to be too much for me however I managed to eat half of each and take home the rest which came out wonderfully reheated in the oven.

Renee A.

Yelp
I've been back a few times but we went back just recently and we got chicken pesto white half and half mushrooms and bacon. It was so good but really greasy! Probably olive oil, bit it was a multi napkin pizza. My kid got cheese.

Val C.

Yelp
I went to this place on Sunday and arrived around 11:45am. There were already people standing in front and sitting in their cars waiting for the restaurant to open. When it opened at 12noon, there were enough people to fill the restaurant tables. However, since I was ordering out I didn't need a table. After placing my order for a large pizza to go I was told it would take 30 minutes to make; however, it took one hour solid for my pizza. The pizza was decent but it was nothing to write home about and it was not worth an hour wait. I enjoyed the sausage because it was crumbled on top. I did not enjoy the crust. It was tough and chewy. I enjoy Detroit and Chicago style pan pizza and NY Style thin crust pizza. This pizza didn't fall under either of those so I won't be going back.

Ken B.

Yelp
This is our favorite pizza and we drive 30 minutes from home to get here. Our go-to pie is fresh whole clam with mozzarella. This time it was better than usual. I'd like to share a story about my daughter's recent visit. She and her husband live near Poughkeepsie, NY and when visiting home, we always make our way to Zuppardi's. Recently they had business in Norwalk with friends from Colorado. These friends wanted to try New Haven pizza. They drove up to the area and ate at both Zuppardi's and Pepe's. The folks from Colorado preferred Zuppardi's. Once arriving back home they ordered Zuppardi's frozen pizza.

Kent P.

Yelp
Came to New Haven for a show, and of course we have to hit a pizza place. Over the years, I believe I've tried every pizza place in New Haven and surrounding area. (Sally's, Modern, Frank Pepes, BAR) and I don't know that I ever made it to Zuppardi's before this visit. We arrived to a line outside which is always a good sign. Many seemed to be running in to get takeout. I entered and asked if there was a list to be able to dine in and there was and also asked how long take out would be (approximately). Take out was running over an hour and there was only a few names on the dine in waiting list and as I looked around, many tables were finished eating or close to leaving. We put our name on the list and waited. Many tables opened all at once and we were sat in the order our names were given. We were ready with our order, since we had been waiting, and since we viewed the menu and had a show to get to. Unfortunately, it took quite some time for a server to arrive. No biggie, they were slammed, and were doing the best they could, especially for a Sunday night. We placed our order for the special pizza (mushroom and sausage) and the Clam white pizza + Cheese; My dining partner also asked for a cheese pizza "to go" at the time of ordering The pizzas came out after a long but to be expected wait and they were delicious. The fresh clam stole the show. Caution: it is listed as "market price" and we made the mistake of not asking prior to ordering. It ended up being 40 dollars. We were full and ready to pack our pizza to go and pay the bill and unfortunately our server went missing for a LONG time. We weren't checked on during our meal at all. Other servers and cleaners (bussers) were passing by and we asked for to go boxed twice, from 2 people (1 server, 1 busser) and they said sure and then neither came back with them. So I got up and went to the back room and asked. Next, our server arrived and saw us with the boxed pizzas and table cleaned up and we asked for the check. She said sure. Our to-go pizza hadn't been ordered or cooked. It wasn't put in until we were ready to go. Again, mistake on us apparently, my friend didn't specify when he ordered. Paying was a hassle, as well. We wanted to leave a tip on a the card and lady at front counter explained her POS/touchpad couldn't do that. we said fine, then we will just leave cash. she sent us to the take out counter to pay but warned us again,we couldn't leave a tip on the card. The very young girl rang us out and the hand held credit card machine asked us if we wanted to add tip. Strange. The restaurant slowed way down after the dinner rush when we had arrived but then it literally froze into a dead standstill. No more line. Empty tables. No more take out orders people waiting but it was very difficult to pay or get boxes or get out of there. Overall, the pizza was fantastic. Proper size, great chew, texture, taste, flavor and it was cooked well. The service needed improvement. from arrival, to the meal, to the closing, all not great. It's probably in my top 3 for New Haven pizza and will likely try again, but man, it was hard to pay and get out of there!

Kathy M.

Yelp
Firm but somewhat dry pizza- so I was disappointed Modern is still my favorite. Very busy place- so service was a little slow. Very good beer selection. Wine prices were decent

Teddy R.

Yelp
On my way back home for the holidays I stopped at Zuppardi's Apizza in West Haven, and I think I like it more than New Haven's big three (Pepe's, Sally's, Modern). Incredible crust (serious umami bakery bread flavor), full-fat mozz, great sauce, and homemade sausage. This pie is actually half sausage, half meatball (I was wary of doubling up for fear that it would be too much grease, and the super-friendly server recommended I go half/half). $25 for an 18" is not bad at all for a pie of this caliber. Highly recommended.

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
A crispy crust and great toppings is what you will get here. The business is no frills pizza and a few salad selections with an impressive tap menu which was unexpected. Our server was right on top of the room even though it was pretty packed when we arrived. Nice ice cream sandwiches or Italian ice for dessert. A comfy dinning room which is great for families.

Tom P.

Yelp
Made a few visits to Zuppardi's over the last week since I live out of town. I have been going there over the last 20+ years when living here and my now visits, it's my favorite pizza place. I did notice that the dough is now spun differently. It super thin on one side and thick on the other. This showed up on all 6 pies on different days. Not a fan of this new dough style. Otherwise, it was great.

Brian F.

Yelp
It's hard to justify 5 stars for tomato on flat dough unless they get it perfect. And while it's way better than some of the famous places in the area - no long lines, no ripoff prices, no attitude - and while it has nice wood oven flavor - they didn't get it exactly perfect, with some of the top crust burned. Still, if you want tomato, sausage, garlic, even sometimes cheese, it's well worth the visit.

John H.

Yelp
An absolute "must try" if you're a pizza person. Ample parking and seating, interior was dated, but clean (and busy at 12:00p on a Friday in January), service was solid (waitress forgot our Caesar Salad but offered to comp it when we reminded her), and the food was... Caesar Salad: 6 (store dressing) Pizza-1 (sausage/onion): 8.5 Pizza-2 ("traditional pie w/o mozzarella"): 8.5 Pizza-3 (plain w/ mozzarella): 8.5 Overall...the crust was one of the better ones I've had in my 50 years of eating pizza, sauce was smooth...not too tangy, and the cheese was very good (not oily/greasy). A coal/wood fired oven would move my scores up to a 9. Definitely one of the better pizzas in CT if not New England.

Jen C.

Yelp
Upon arrival, you need to expect to wait for a table. We waited about 12 minutes on a Wednesday at around 6pm. They offer a variety of pizza offerings and sell their frozen for less than the grocery store. They have fountain soda but there is no refills. Service is friendly but busy so sometimes it's hard to grab someone. We got the Garden Veggie, All Things Fresh and The Special. My favorite was the special which featured their housemade sausage because of the balance of flavor and the cheese pull. The garden veggie was fresh in flavor. One thing to note is the cook on the crust of the pizzas was inconsistent resulting in some tasting better than others. The restaurant is homey but also a bit loud as it's busy. The parking lot is small so do yourself a favor and carpool.

Heather A.

Yelp
The best around!! Must try's for any first timers would be their special (homemade fennel sausage & mushroom) and their traditional! Clam pizza is also delicious!! This time I opted for a nice cheese pizza, so good! When you go be sure to grab yourself one of Foxon Park's famous sodas & some Italian ice. Keep in mind, it is the place to go so there may be a slight wait -especially during lent on Friday's. Worth every bit of waiting though!!

Melissa C.

Yelp
Finally got to try this classic spot in West Haven. I get the frozen pizzas they sell all the time and love them so I have been due for a visit for some time! It's a tiny place but full, even on a weeknight! The service was steady for the table turnover and cordial. We ordered the Garden veggie, the All Things Fresh, and The Special. I don't typically love veggies on pizza but with this pizza I was impressed. It was flavorful and had the perfect amount of each ingredient! This was my favorite of the three. I'm not a fan of mushrooms but the special was tasty without it. The most disappointing of the three was actually the All Things Fresh which was lacking flavor. I will definitely return to try more of their menu (such as the meatball that I get frozen or the buffalo chicken) or to to get one of the cannolis that they were out of as we were checking out!

Kendra W.

Yelp
Stop #3 of our New Haven pizza trip from Maine. Opened on Sunday and plenty of parking. It was a nice change from standing in line at Sally's. First pizza spot we added a meat topping since I heard they have homemade sausage and crumpled (I hate sliced). Super yummy and they sell their pizzas on Goldbelly too. They had individual pizzas in a freezer you can bring home so we brought a few home to let family visiting try.

Andrew C.

Yelp
Lori Z and team have the best pizza in New Haven CT and the United States! What a great family run restaurant- great service, atmosphere and the best pizza! The Special - Sausage and Mushroom is the best pizza in the US- hands down- sausage is the best ever... the crust is perfect. No Mozz pizza is one of our other favorites to order. What a special place in West Haven CT. Happy 90th Birthday and we'll be back. Highly Recommend

Tunaidi A.

Yelp
Zuppardi's serves up delicious pizza. Wanted to try some New Haven pizza and was glad to dine at this place.

Lauren O.

Yelp
Take out mozz pizza with "made in house" sausage and garlic focaccia, garden salad with parm peppercorn dressing. Quality pizza! Ready when promised. It's just, the best.

Brian D.

Yelp
This is my go to when I have friends come from out of town. I really enjoy their pizza one of the many pizza places in the New Haven and West Haven area. The service is great never had any problems. I never eat inside the place it look comfortable.

Lisa Y. B.

Yelp
Pizza is decent. But their raw clams on a half shell were absolutely ATROCIOUS! Clams were not shucked correctly and also were not fresh AT ALL! The smell of the clams, the texture and the taste were all horrendous! I only ate one clam and that was all it took. Staff was friendly.

Mark H.

Yelp
I stopped in West Haven on my drive from Baltimore to Boston. This was a planned stop and Zuppardi's provided a perfect late lunch. I ordered the pie (pepperoni, sausage and cherry peppers) when I was about 2 hours away and it was supposed to be ready when I arrived. The ambiance is exactly what it should be ... a local pizza shop. People from the community. This is my favorite pizza place anywhere. Service was, as always, impeccable. These people are so damn nice! The food ... forget it! I know people will laugh, but as god is my witness, this is the BEST pizza I have ever had. It is also the best looking pizza! This thing is a work of art. The sausage is spectacular, pepperoni is spot on and distributed perfectly, the sauce is beyond incredible. But the crust is what sets this apart. Absolutely the best overall pizza that I have ever had. I know I have said that before, but the bar has been raised yet again. Others may be able to get there, but there has to be the combination of sausage, pepperoni and cherry peppers. Absolute bliss!

Scott P.

Yelp
Picked up a double clam pie last month, $65!! They now mince their clams, not whole shucked anymore. My wife brought the pie back in to complain and nasty woman/owner/manager told her "That's a double portion, that's how we make it!". BS, we've been there a few times before and ordered double clams, great clam flavor and now they're ripping customers off. If that's a double clam portion what does a single portion look like? Won't be back, such a disappointment.

Yelp
Well we DID go back again due to every pizza place in the area having lines down the street. At Zupps you can at least wait inside. Service was excellent and this time, the pizza was delicious. Upgrading to four stars.

Yelp
Finally tried the famous Zuppardi's Apizza! I have an old friend that swears this is the best in CT and it's definitely up there! We ordered takeout on a Saturday around 4PM and they still had a 30-45 minute wait. We got there right as our pies were coming out the oven! We took it home (about a 35 minute drive) so we didn't have it as fresh as I wanted but it was still perfect! Everything you want in a New Haven style pizza: thin, crispy, chewy. My surprise favorite though was a custom pie we ordered with pepperoni, garlic and escarole. I don't usually see escarole pies so I had to order it - and it paired wonderfully with the pepperoni. This is a must!

Yelp
If you like sitting in your grandmother's kitchen having a pizza you will love this place as I do. Extremely well organized home atmosphere. Fresh ingredients like no other parking. Horrendous but that's fine. It all works out

Yelp
I have tried most of the New Haven area clam pies (usually more then once) and Zuppardi's wins the prize for best clam pie. I did take out and had to wait about a half an hour for my order. Next time i would like to eat in, the dining room looked comfortable. I also tried the shrimp scampi pie (without the bacon), and the regular cheese. The flavor of the clam pie is fantastic and not at all oily (like frank pepes' clam pie is) and the big juicy freshly shucked clams shine in the pie. The shrimp scampi pie was okay, I removed the bacon because I am a pescatarian, perhaps it would be a better pie with the bacon. As for the regular cheese pie, it was fine.... not really the kind of pizza i enjoy in this style of pie.

Yelp
Zuppardi's is widely considered one of the "Big Four" Apizza restaurants in New Haven which gives them instant national credibility. Known for their sausage pizza, Zuppardi's sets themselves apart from their Wooster St. peers with their house-made fennel and garlic sausage. Of course, ordered the Zuppardi's sausage pizza. Perfectly cooked with just the right amount of char and healthy portions of sausage. Just an amazing pie that lives up to the hype. One of my favorites. A must try if you are visiting West Haven!

Yelp
Had a great time at zuppardis for lunch yesterday!! The crust is absolutely fantastic with every bite! The flavor of the pizzas were some of the best we've had! The fresh clam pie was my choice, and I did half with mozzarella and half without! I prefer it without after trying it both ways. The service is quick and the staff is super friendly. The shop has a homey family feel to it! It's very welcoming and a lot of the customers seem to be regulars! Can't wait to go back again to try more because the Caesar salad pizza was calling my name too

Yelp
Zuppardi's serves up a top notch apizza. This was one of the best pizzas I ever had. The sauce, crust, cheese and sausage were the creme de la creme of ingredients. No complaints from me, definitely a 9.3 pie. My only wish is that the Ansonia location served up pies on this scale. So, if you want the true Zuppardi's experience, then go to the West Haven location. It's worth the trip.

Yelp
If you are reading this then that tells me you have never experienced Zuppardi's Pizza and only heard about this place and you need to check it out for yourself. I hear ya. I am a huge pizza snob thanks to growing up around New Haven, Ct. Ok, enough of reading reviews of good places to eat pizza. Go get yourself a pizza and let your taste buds be the judge. And you can wash it all down with Foxon Park Soda. I prefer Lg. sausage light onion. Almost forgot.... Don't forget to get treat yourself to A Libby's Italian Ice for desert.

Yelp
BEST WHITE CLAM PIZZA! We moved away to Florida a few years ago, and man, I needed that. One of our pies was accidentally given to another table, so the delay getting the rest of the order was unfortunate.. I hope we weren't charged for that pie, but I don't know the outcome. Food was excellent. I'd def go back. .

Yelp
Best pizza in CT, hands down. Love the New Haven locales but this is better than Pepe's, modern and Sally's in my opinion. Can't go wrong with what you order but the mozzarella with pepperoni is my official fav here. Don't sleep on the salads or cannoli pie. Bonus: the bathrooms are incredibly clean and the staff incredibly friendly. Never had a bad experience.

Yelp
First time trying zuppardi's and wow, its right there with modern now with my favorite spots in connecticut. crust was perfect crispy, a bit chewy and not overly cooked. we went with the red sauce pie and the special. red sauce was perfect and may have been the favorite red sauce of the day. the special was also fantastic and the homemade fennel sausage was so delicious i did not want to stop eating. overall loved it there and think its underrated compared to some of the other spots in new haven because it is technically in west haven. cant wait to go back

Yelp
This pizza is probably the best I ever tasted! The have a corn meal crust that is crispy and everything it right about this pizza. Decor is old school pizza joint but the food makes up for it and more

Yelp
My friend came to visit from Mexico and has never been to CT. She also never had New Haven Apizza so this was a need. We walked in and I was taken back to my childhood with the smell of pizza and the feel of an Italian pizza place at Christmas time. We grabbed drinks and sat down. In less than a minute we were greeted by the waitress and were given menus. We kept it simple: The Special. Sausage with fennel and mushrooms. My friend doesn't like mushrooms so half with mushrooms and half without. As busy as they are, they still got the pizza to our booth in a quick time. Piping hot, smelling so incredibly reminiscent of times I'd have Italian food at my grandparents. I grabbed a slice, and it was time to dig in. As soon as I took the first bite, I couldn't help but start giggling. My dad would giggle when he ate something that reminded him of his childhood and I finally understood why. My grandparents and my dad are sadly no longer with us. But this pizza INSTANTLY took me back in time. The soft chew at the start of the slice, the crispiness towards the crust, with just the right amount of char to it to give some kind of sharpness to it... this crust was PERFECTION. The sauce was just right! Tangy but not acidic, packed with flavor, and not overpowering. The cheese was phenomenal, with the right amount of moisture and led to the most epic cheese pulls you could see. The sausage was a flavor bomb: seasoned to perfection with fennel adding that licorice-esque flavor. Definitely some classic Italian sausage! The mushrooms had enough bite, didn't fall apart, and just enough give to make it noticeable. This was the PERFECT pizza. We ordered a large so my friend can bring some back to the city and have for later and share with her mom. I took the other pieces, and even cold, it's still perfection. Zuppardi's has won my heart here. I will absolutely go back and bring others with me. This is a MUST VISIT place!

Yelp
This is the best pizza inn CT, so therefore the world I live in Miami now and truly miss CT pizza. My boyfriend and I were visiting for the holidays so I had to take him to Zuppardis to try his first CT slice! He finally understood why I always raved about CT pizza. They deliver on golden belly too, so I can't wait to order some frozen pizzas to share with my friends and family here!!

Yelp
This my all time favorite Pizza Place! The house made Sausage is fantastic. The hack is to order the Mozzarella and Tomato Salad with Balsamic as an Appetizer, then save the Balsamic Dressing to dip your crust in. Great people and great service, they truly appreciate your patronage. It's the Best NH Style, in my opinion.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I shared the Special. It was delicious. We especially loved the fennel sausage. All the pizza's in the restaurant looked amazing. Service was good. People at the front weren't especially warm but our server was nice and attentive. The ambiance of the place isn't anything fancy but gets the job done. You're a bit squished at your seats but we were still able to fit. Overall, the food made it a great experience.
