"Julia Ortiz Monasterio, the ice cream diva of Helados Cometa, cooked around NYC before returning home to open a charming ice cream shop in late 2017. It’s the place for traditional ice creams and velvety sorbets in interesting flavors like mamey speckled with cacao nibs;matchawith dried cranberry; avocado; and jícama with ginger. She captures the best in seasonal produce with small batches, held in buttery, shatteringly crisp homemade cones (or a cup; but why?).
