"As your taxi arrives outside the St. Regis, what's your initial impression?Located close to the Air Canada Centre, the Rogers Centre, and upscale shopping, this hotel has served as one of Toronto’s top luxury picks for years—and throughout various incarnations, no less. Originally launched as a Trump property, it's now operating as The St. Regis, one of the best hotels in the city, while it becomes the first St. Regis in Canada—a transformation slated to take place in late 2018. As part of the re-branding, there will be a re-designed lobby and adjacent lounge, a new 31st-floor restaurant with views of Downtown and Lake Ontario, new and refreshed suites, and signature St. Regis elements like butler service in all of the rooms. What won’t change drastically is the overall atmosphere: muted sophistication, luxe décor, extra-large rooms, and spectacular views. Sounds decadent. Who else is there? The location and level of luxury draws the expense-account crowd, while the large rooms and suites are ideal for families. Take us through your room. The 256 rooms range from 550-square-foot standard rooms to multi-room suites. High ceilings and oversized windows framing city views add to the airy feel, and custom furniture, wet bars, Nespresso machines, and Apple product–integrated sound systems help further a residential vibe. Beds are topped with Italian linens; the stone-lined bathroom features a separate rainfall shower and deep-soaking tub. There's a pillow menu because—well, why not? What other kinds of amenities are on hand? There's free WiFi. Eventually, as part of the St. Regis transformation, all rooms will come with butler service. What are our best choices for food here?Located in a a bright and elegant space on the 9th floor, Restaurant Adelaide spins regional ingredients into solid North American fare. But because many of the rooms and suites have ample seating or dining areas, room service also is a popular option. For those on a health kick, what are the options? There's a full spa, a large gym stocked with Technogym equipment, personal trainers, a yoga/Pilates studio, and a zero-edge saltwater lap pool surrounded by city views. Bottom line: worth it, and why?The Adelaide is worth the splurge for its spacious rooms, wealth of perks, and (eventual) hallmarks of the St. Regis brand." - Sandra Ramani
