"First impressions? This edgy, millennial-focused hotel in the posh Cherry Creek neighborhood starts you off with a free cocktail at check-in—the reception area doubles as a bar—and keeps the party going with buzzy communal public spaces and playful decor. Keep your phone at the ready, because around every corner there’s a succulent pink flamingo, or glowing neon sign begging for the ‘gram. Who else is here?Millennials and budget-conscious travelers who like design. Any special features?Super fast complimentary Wi-Fi keeps you connected, while USB ports and motion-activated LED lighting are small extras that make the stay a bit more comfortable. What about the rooms?Rooms are clean, if a bit basic; most are on the smaller side, so don’t expect much closet space or a desk for working. Leather accents and white subway tile continue the hipster-chic vibe in the decor, and it’s clear that the Marriott-owned Moxy brand expects guests to spend most of their time in communal spaces. Anything notable on the menu? You won’t lack for dining options in Cherry Creek, but Moxy does offer quick bites throughout the day at Mozy Pickups. Arguably the best spot for sipping or snacks is the hotel’s outdoor beer garden, where moveable furniture, throw pillows, and twinkle lights overhead set a captivating stage. The food is standard bar fare so start here with a drink and then head to better restaurants in the ‘hood like Quality Italian or Departure. And public spaces? The lobby bar or the beer garden is the place to be, especially because it’s stocked with a slew of games like corn hole and oversized Jenga. Bottom line. There’s not much that’s budget-oriented in pricey Cherry Creek, but the 170-room Moxy offers an approachable price point without sacrificing plush beds, happy hours, and cheeky style." - Megan Barber
