"Why did this hotel catch your attention? What's the vibe? The Zetter Townhouse Marylebone isn't the place for feng shui enthusiasts. The interiors of this Georgian townhouse were inspired by the John Soane’s Museum—the ultimate London treasure trove—and they're stuffed with interesting antiques and strange knickknacks. It’s not stuffy, though; in fact, the cocktail bar–cum–breakfast parlor has deep-red walls and hosts regular, raucous parties. What's the backstory? This is the third hotel in Zetter Group, a boutique company known for its eccentric British style. Tell us all about the accommodations. Any tips on what to book? The 25 individually designed rooms are filled with antique furniture, floral curtains, and clashing carpets. It’s all very British, with red-white-and-blue striped throws and Union Jacks thrown in for good measure. All of the rooms have vintage touches, such as Roberts radios and gramophones, plus REN bath products and powerful rain showers. Lear’s Loft, on the top floor, is a self-contained apartment, complete with a copper clawfoot bathtub on the terrace. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi?The Wi-Fi is free and fast. Drinking and dining—what are we looking at?There's no restaurant, although you'll find substantial snacks in the bar, such as lobster brioche and pork belly baos. But you're really here for the cocktails; say, rose quartz vodka with aloe, coconut, and verbena. Afternoon tea is a pleasingly indulgent affair with deviled eggs and peanut-chocolate choux. What type of travelers will you find here?Fun-loving London devotees. This is a place for discussions about pottery—not Brexit. What about the neighborhood? Does the hotel fit in, make itself part of the scene?Marylebone is just steps away from Oxford Street. Any other hotel features worth noting?Book direct and you’ll get breakfast thrown in. Bottom line: Worth it? Why?This hotel brings the best of English eccentricity into a perfect, central location." - Laura Goulden
