The Auld Dubliner

Irish pub · Ringsend

"The Auld Dubliner is one of those pubs that seems too good to be true. A classic, old-school Dublin boozer with its exposed brick walls and its original walls, it’s easily spotted in the thumping heart of Temple Bar: the side of the building is festooned with a mural of a beer-bellied docker in a captain’s hat, who's amiably watching a dog lift his leg and take care of business against the wall of a pub identified as the ‘Auld Dubliner.’ Inside, there’s live music virtually all day, a mixture of traditional and contemporary. This place is a lot of fun, but be warned: it trades largely on its appeal to tourists, who are offered an ‘authentic Dublin experience’ of beer, laughter, and music. The beer is good, the laughter is genuine, and the music is (usually) top notch, so what harm that locals refer to it as the ‘Aul’ Foreigner’?" - Fionn Davenport
