Greydon House
"If you’ve ever been to Nantucket, chances are you stayed with someone lucky enough to have a home on the salt-sprayed island. For those of us who haven’t managed to snag a weekend invitation, there’s Greydon House, a 20-room boutique hotel right in the center of town (and just a 2 minute walk from the ferry dock). Working alongside a local architect, Roman and Williams fully restored an 1850s Greek revival home, surrounded by sea rose gardens and fern-lined porches, into a modern bohemian hotel. Rooms are bright and cozy, with worn leather chairs and wrought iron beds accented with indigo block-printed bed linens from John Robshaw and Les Indiennes. The bathrooms (complete with hand painted tiles that show scenes of Nantucket’s whaling history) are stocked with products from Aesop, Beauty Counter, Ursa Major. If you feel like biking over to Madequecham, there are even fully-stocked beach bags with towels, sunblock, and portable Bose Bluetooth speakers. Dinner is served in the wood-paneled bar, in the dining room, or on the verandah that overlooks the garden. It even has some serious art world cred, with a Julian Schnabel piece hanging right by the elevator.
