Babuino 181

"How did it strike you on arrival? The entrance is standard boutique hotel: a contemporary beige front desk, paper lantern lights, and a leather booth for resting your luggage against. It’s smart and functional, rather than awe-inspiring. Nice. What’s the crowd like?Business travelers and young families, plus anyone wanting a no-fuss, comfortable stay in Rome. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.Rooms are contemporary without being fancy: think muted hues, from the beige bedhead to the wooden desk, all atop light brown laminate flooring. Despite being the smallest room, the Double Superior is surprisingly roomy, with the wardrobe and bathroom down a small hallway. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?Frette linen is always a winner, and the silk-filled duvet makes for a special touch. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down. The bathroom’s all marble, with Frette bathrobes and towels piled high on the vanity. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Wi-Fi is consistently strong and, best of all, free. Room service: Worth it?You can have your breakfast delivered to your room, but for any other meals, you’ll need to head out. Babuino 181 is ideally placed in Rome’s historical center near the Piazza del Popolo, with plenty of trattorias, cafes, and bars within walking distance. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.Cocktails on the rooftop terrace and bar is a real treat, and breakfast is served there as well. Bottom line: worth it, and why?Babuino 181 is well-priced for its central location, right by Rome’s best art galleries, restaurants and sights." - Maresa Manara
