What's the deal with the rooms?Neutral-toned with pops of color, the décor (velvet loveseats, colorful pop art) at this recently renovated hotel matches the excitement of the Midtown skyline just outside your window. I decided to stay in the “Fabulous Room” because it’s on an upper floor; stay too close to the first-floor lobby, and it’s tough to block out the noise. Anything else we should know?Unless you’re a Starwood Preferred Guest, wireless high-speed Internet access is $14.95 a day in guest rooms. Boo. How's the service at the front desk?Want to sample more Midtown nightlife? The front desk offers a full list of nearby clubs and bars, plus phone numbers for late-night pizza delivery. Are there any amenities that wowed you?Planning a day by the pool? Reserve one of the four cabanas, each with its own personalized sound system. TRACE, the hotel’s Southern-inspired restaurant, is open for breakfast. Though it claims to “trace” its ingredients back to local purveyors, only a handful of menu items make that connection clear. For lunch and dinner, the Living Room serves steak frites, shrimp and Logan Turnpike Mill grits, and fried shishito peppers. Wash it all down with a Saint Fashioned—a St. Germain-soaked riff on an old fashioned. The onsite spa has a nail lounge, steam showers, and saunas. Add an optional eye-recovery mask to your “revive” facial and leave feeling like a million bucks. Drivers, be warned: It’s $42 per night to valet your car, and there’s no self-parking option.
