"The biggest draw to Red Top Mountain State Park is Allatoona Lake, a reservoir that spans more than 12,000 acres with plenty of room for water sports, fishing, and swimming, surrounding the large wooded peninsula constituting the park. Red Top Mountain, once an important mining area, was named for the soil’s rich color caused by high iron-ore content.
