"Perched on Chapman’s Peak overlooking Hout Bay, I picked this hotel-restaurant because it gave me the ocean setting I wanted without a sandy, barefoot beach wedding — its views of the rocky beach curving around the bay, gorgeous sunsets, and intimate scale (only ten rooms on site) all felt perfect. The property offered multiple indoor–outdoor spaces to stage each part of the wedding in case of wind or rain, had its own restaurant and on-site catering by a Michelin-recognized chef (the food was amazing), and even allowed us to do tastings days before the wedding to choose signature cocktails and appetizers. The rooms looked out over the water (I saw a pod of dolphins from my balcony the morning of the wedding), Hout Bay was always in view without anyone ever having to step foot on the sand, and I felt so connected to the place that I said I want my ashes scattered here." - Kaitlin Menza
