"How did it strike you on arrival?The lobby of the JW Marriott is an exuberant space, with a large sculpture of people dancing at the center of its inlaid stone floor. Red accents brighten things up, from the furniture to the in-lobby bar and even glass chandeliers. Take a seat by the gas fire, or tilt your head back to get a glimpse of the soaring atrium, and other guests who might be looking down from above. Kids might enjoy the novelty of the cylindrical glass elevators that run between floors. Nice. What’s the crowd like?Thanks to more than 12,000 feet of event space, you'll see conventioneers and people on business, as well as shoppers making the short walk to Union Square. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.The Marriott just renovated its guest rooms, so everything is brand new. The palette is a light gray with pops of red, and stone and wood accents. At 360 square feet, even the smallest rooms aren't teeny-tiny, and every one comes with a desk and ergonomic chair for worker bees. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?Hotel rooms come with pillow-top mattresses, feather beds, and duvets. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase?In-room Bose radios seem worthy of theft. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down.Even the smallest rooms are outfitted with marble bathrooms, have a separate shower and tub, and a lighted makeup mirror. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?High-speed internet is $9.95 per day; internet fast enough to stream is $16.95. Staff: If you could award one a trophy, who gets it, and why?The doorman in the port-cochere was very friendly. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.The 24-hour fitness center has wood floors, big windows to let light stream in, and machines that come with their own TV screens. Event planners, take note: The JW Marriott has more than 12,000 feet of work space, and 14 different event rooms. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay?At Post and Mason, the JW Marriott is just a couple of blocks from the shopping of Union Square, but it's also very close to the Tenderloin neighborhood.
