"A 19th-century feel still remains at the Bucktown Village Store, another important site in Tubman's story. A slave was running through the store, trying to escape, when the two-pound iron weight meant for him instead hit Tubman in the head. She nearly died and would suffer epilepsy and headaches for the rest of her life. That story comes to life as you stand in the store, where much is like it was then. The history is palpable."
