"How did it strike you on arrival? In 1908, a group of Gold Rush profiteers formed the Arctic Club, and a few years later they commissioned the nine-story Beaux Arts building that currently houses the Doubletree-operated Arctic Club Hotel. The front desk showcases the building’s history, bringing serious pioneer vibes with antique portraits of explorers past. Nice. What’s the crowd like?Truth be told, this is an odd hotel with a hardcore haunted vibe. So it’s funny to see young families and suited conventioneers wandering its ghostly halls. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase?Amenities here are pretty standard—cribs and a kid’s menu for the young ones, and a complimentary 24 hour fitness center. Bottom line: worth it, and why? With its rich history and moody atmosphere, the Arctic Club will transport you to Seattle’s heady pioneer days, while also providing a comfortable and convenient spot from which to explore the city. The beige-heavy color scheme is a bit dated, sure, but it’s still a great choice for travelers looking for a distinctive stay." - Jessica Voelker
