"This 16-seat café feels almost homey, with Syrian tea sets, ceramics, and musical instruments, plus potted plants hanging on the walls. The main event here is the warm, house-baked maneesh flatbread, dressed up with halloumi, labneh, spiced beef and peppers, or spicy za'atar. Other Syrian specialties include knaffeh , a sort of single-serving pie made with akawi and ricotta cheeses (or cashew cheese), shredded phyllo dough, crumbled pistachios, and orange blossom drizzle. It's all-day, it's easy, and it serves a mean espresso." - Todd Plummer
