"Set in the hushed St. James neighborhood, a short walk from Buckingham Palace, this perennial favorite has 380-year-old working wine cellars and underground corridors to St. James’s Palace. The former home of nineteenth-century nobility, the Main House offers rooms individually decorated with period furnishings and wallpaper. Ground-floor accommodations in the Carriage House, originally built as stables for the nobles’ horses, retain the stable doors and are named for famous horses. (Stay in one of the Mews Suites if your tastes skew more contemporary.) Head to the American Bar for a peek at signed celebrity photographs and a ceiling hung with club ties."
