Outside, it turns out—perhaps by the expansive pool area or the 27-hole golf course. If they're spending any time at all inside, they're likely tucked into meeting or event rooms. Any notable tidbits? Opened in 1992 in Puerto Rico's so-called "second city," the Hilton Ponce is the largest hotel in the south of the island. So tell us about the rooms—what can we expect? There are 255 spacious, clean, basic rooms, all with a private balcony or patio. Equipped with everything you’d expect from a big-brand stay, they're sleekly decorated with shiny surfaces, tile floors, and marble-topped furniture. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi? Wi-Fi is included with the 14 percent resort fee. What are the on-site dining options like? There are four restaurants: El Bohio, a snacky sports bar, La Cava, serving local and continental fare, the indoor/outdoor La Terraza, and Sancho’s Sushi Bar. Who tends to stay here? Families, business trippers and wedding parties. Where on the island is it located? The Hilton Ponce is 80 minutes from San Juan and 11 minutes from Mercedita International Airport. Historic downtown Ponce is a 10-minute drive away. Any other hotel features worth noting? The Hilton Ponce is home to one of the largest casinos in the Caribbean.
