"Why book? For a centrally-located, boho-leaning boutique hotel that embraces The District's creative side. Set the scene At 11 a.m. and Yours Truly DC looks like a full-on co-working space, thanks to the local cult favorite bagel chain Call Your Mother operating out of the lobby. The massive space is set up with macrame wall hangings, leather chairs and velvet couches in 70s' burnt amber shades, and a jungle of plants. Come 5 p.m., and the laptops go away (hopefully) when the hotel's lobby space transitions into "sorta South American" restaurant Mercy Me, serving up Brazilian coffee-espresso martinis for a scene-y crowd. The backstory Yours Truly DC is part of IHG's Vignette Collection, a spate of luxury hotels that aim to reflect each destination's local roots. The D.C. hotel is the first Vignette Collection property to open in North America. The team here brings in local activations regularly, from a quarterly vintage market that takes over the hotel's public spaces to comedy nights, sewing classes or artsy singles night called The Feels. The rooms Concrete floors, low-slung couches, leather headboards and vintage Persian rugs make each guest room look more like Marfa than a federal city. Crisp white walls are set off with pop art on the wall and textile art, while in-room record players available on request (with a library of soul and retro grooves downstairs) reinforce the hotel's bohemian vision. Food and drink Billed as a "Jew-ish" deli, Call Your Mother is known for lines out the door for za'atar bagels topped with candied salmon cream cheese and crispy shallots. The pink and blue shop is in the corner of Yours Truly's lobby, offering roasted-in-house coffee in the morning and deli sandwiches at lunch. At 4 p.m., Mercy Me is open, with a menu that pulls from cuisines across South America (think ceviche with purple sweet potato and Argentina's pizza-like delicacy, fugazetta topped with truffle and honey). DJs often spin vinyl here on Fridays and Saturdays, and the bar serves intriguing cocktails with ingredients like sour tamarind, lychee or coconut butter. Mercy Me also boasts a pop-up bar that lends itself to immersive dining experiences: recently the outdoor space transformed into a cozy, wood-paneled Patagonian winter chalet complete with a fireplace. The neighborhood/area If you can't pick between Georgetown or Dupont Circle, the West End is a great compromise in the middle to make your D.C. home base. The luxury hotel-filled neighborhood is walkable to the shops on M Street, the Dupont Circle farmer's market on Sundays and three different metro stations to get you anywhere else in the city. The service The friendly and low-key team caters to a range of guests, like families of tourists, business travelers, and D.C. university students and their parents. The hotel is also pet-friendly, with no additional fee for leashed dogs under 125 pounds — and treats, in-room bowls and bone-shaped mats, and branded frisbees for the nearby park at the ready. Peruse the gift shop by the check-in desk in case you'd like to take home some Yours, Truly swag. For families Kids can check out a book and games library, pick up a coloring book with colored pencils, or play around with a record player (which is probably something new for most of Gen Alpha). One of the meeting rooms is equipped with a ping pong table in case families want to get in a little vacation competition. Eco effort Works within IHG eco guidelines. Accessibility Accessible rooms with roll-in showers are available. Anything left to mention? A stylish barber shop for men called Groom Guy is located within the hotel's first floor, in case you're in need of a trim."
