"I saw the internationally sought-out Miracle Christmas pop-up, which began in New York’s East Village in 2014 when Greg Boehm transformed an unfinished bar into a winter wonderland after his mother urged him, “don’t do construction in December, open up a Christmas bar.” With Joann Spiegel it has since toured worldwide (Greece, Montreal, Paris, Hong Kong) and in its fifth year continues spreading holiday cheer across the U.S., Canada, Europe, Asia, and Central America. The aesthetic is retro and over-the-top—garland, twinkle lights, bows, stockings, and Instagram-famous Santa mugs and festive glassware inspired by Boehm’s grandparents’ ornament collection—and the cocktail program matches that sensibility with punny, showy but approachable drinks, like the Koala-La La La / La La La La (gin, pine liqueur, vermouth, garnished with a tiny koala wearing a Santa hat) and the Yippie Ki Yay Mother F****r! (two kinds of rum, cachaça, and marshmallow orgeat)." - Paula Echevarria
