Classic Santa Monica Steakhouse Golden Bull Reopens With Half-Off Brunch Deal - Eater LA
"Golden Bull, the historic Santa Monica steakhouse off PCH, reopens this weekend with a brand new look. To bring in the crowds, the revamped restaurant is offering 50-percent off food during its first brunch only, on Sunday, July 1. Golden Bull will serve brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The first incarnation of Golden Bull opened back in 1949. The restaurant, set right near the beach in Santa Monica, was a hit with diners thanks to its old-school vibe, classic chophouse menu, and location. Restaurateur Mark Verge, of Margo’s, Ashland Hill, Art’s Table, and others, took over Golden Bull at the beginning of the year. He closed it temporarily for an upgrade, giving the interior a more polished — though still retro — look and fine-tuning the menu. The dinnertime menu from executive chef Greg A. Daniels covers the classics, with Caesar salad, shrimp cocktail, lamb chops, New York strip, and a bone-in ribeye. Cocktails fall into the same category with Manhattans, martinis, and other timeless drinks. Entree prices range from $19 to $58. Golden Bull’s Meaty plates, like steak frites and the Golden Bull Burger with smoked cheddar, caramelized onions, and “fancy sauce,” are available during weekend brunch too, along with more breakfast-y fare including eggs Benedict, buttermilk pancakes, and a croissant sandwich with bacon, egg, and cheese. Or stick with the beef theme and go for the steak and eggs or the Chophouse Hash: ribeye, potatoes, asparagus, mushrooms, chimichurri, and sunny-side-up eggs.
